Wow, this opening is harsh! I like it :P
Harbek would not have worn his armour to dinner unless the ship had been frequently attacked by pirates... Making his AC 12.

DM DoctorEvil |

so I sent Marik a PM asking him to either rejoin the game or officially withdraw, and he has not responded. He continues to post in different threads but has not appeared here.
I am ready to boot him, but wanted to run it past you first, and see if any of you wanted to try to reach out as well.
Secondly, I attached a loot tracker at top. If you haven't seen my version, it has three tabs, the first showing unclaimed or new-found treasure, some of which may need identified or appraised. The second tab shows cash tracking so as you find coins or make purchases (not likely on this island I realize), that balance changes. The third is the distribution of what has been claimed by individual players.
To get that started, can you each post your current balance of money starting the game? I need that to begin the cash tracker accurately. I also assume you will split the coins found evenly, if that changes, please LMK.

Harbek Toruun |

We should get our Rations sorted out too.
Looking at my character sheet it appears that I have made a terrible error in that you can't eat gold...
Harbeks rations: 0

Harbek Toruun |

24 rations from the ship
2 rations of fruit found by Celine
5 rations (from Felix)
10 rations (from St John)
5 rations (from Celine)
46-4 PCs and 4 Npcs
38 rations.

DM DoctorEvil |

Hello all
What are your thoughts about bringing over a player or two from our Group A discussion which has now fallen down to just 3 active players?
Mikail, the bard, is for sure interested. Looks like Varya the paladin will pass, and not sure yet about Dragolan the life oracle.
Are you willing to round out yoru group with these castaways? They are not any farther in the story than you at this point.

Harbek Toruun |

On a family holiday at the beach when I was a kid, my sister and I were walking along the beach after dark. Every step resulted in a crunch sound. Crunch crunch crunch. I pointed the torch at my feet and the whole beach was full of tiny crabs!

Mikail Ruben |

Hello!
Hes is Mikail if you want to look it over.
I like the character but if needed and doctor Evil agree I can remake him changing his class.
With enough development Mikail will become primarily a buffer, while I see that Felix is more of a combatant, so there isn't to much of an overlap between Felix and Mikail.
A question for him:
You think to take roguish skills? At second level you will receive Clever Explorer and I will receive Magic Lore so we will both have some ability in that field, but your bonus will be higher.
What do you think?

Dragolan Canario |

You're already solid on the healing front while lacking a full arcane caster, so I was initially thinking to convert Dragolan into a sorcerer. That wasn't working for me, so with the ref's permission I'm coming up with a new character. Wizard, working towards the Magaambyan Arcanist prestige class. I'll have more on the character later.

Chikura Mutota |

I'm on the road through tomorrow, and will post something then.

OOC discussion about survival
The best option seem to have 3 teams with the person with the highest skill level gathering food and the other assisting him/her.
Survivial:
Mikail +4
Felix +5
Celine +3
Chikura +2
Harbek +1
St. John +4
Taking 10
Mikail 14 = 3 days of rations
Felix 15 = 3 days of rations
St. John 14 = 3 days of rations
Helpers: if they are able to make a DC 10 check they will add another day of provisions. With average results we can hope for another 2 day of food.
With 6 PC and 4 NPC we would produce approximately the same quantity of food that we consume.
Doing it individually and taking 10 instead of using the aid another action would work even better but it would strain verisimilitude (or at least it seem so to me). having people foraging in pairs seem more credible.
The problem is that aid another only add 2 to the check, so it will produce food only for 1 more person regardless of how high is the check result.

This plan sounds good, except that if we always spend half of each day gathering food we won't get very far in exploring our surroundings.
Maybe we could roleplaying it as gathering in pairs but still each take ten individually on the check?

DM DoctorEvil |

Please note, that Jask, who has been made helpful, has said he can hunt. He just hasn't been asked to yet. I think using him, or making the other NPC's helful, will go a long way toward solving your food problem, leaving you time to check out the rest of the island.
I am holding off on posting until you come to an agreement on how to proceed.

The problem is that aid another only add 2 to the check, so it will produce food only for 1 more person regardless of how high is the check result.
The math of the problem is very simple, sadly.
If we use aid another to help the main gatherer, each guy successfully helping (to use aid another you must roll the dice, you can't take 10) add a +2 to the skill check result.
That +2 translate into 1 day of rations for 1 person with each check.
So if we gather food together the result if each participant succeed at the aid another check is:
Felix taking 10 = 15
6 helpers (5 PCs and Jask) = +12
Total 27
And that give us 9 man/days of rations
Taking some failure into account a 23 is more credible, for 7 man/days of rations.
If we want to accumulate a reserve we need to spend a whole day gathering. That will give us 14 units of rations, so a surplus of 4 units after a whole day of gathering.
Gathering enough food for a 3 day expedition (30 man days of food) would require 8 days of full time gathering if done this way.
Splitting up in 3 groups will give us 9 days of rations from the 3 main gatherers and about 2/3 of a day for each helpers. With 4 helpers that would be about 8/3. Let's bee conservative and say 2 days of rations.
It would generate 24 units of food every full day of gathering.
We are consuming 10, so every full day of gathering would leave us with a 12 units reserve.
With 3 day of gathering we would have enough food for a 3 day expedition and some leftover that combined with what we already have will give us a decent buffer.

If Jask has the survival skill and wisdom 18 he can have a +5 in survival. Probably he has a +3 (no skill and wisdom 16 or 17).
3 or 2 man/days of rations if gathering alone. If we can make at least another one of the other helpful, so that he will not search for food alone, will greatly reduce the risk of a accident. assuming the second NPC has a wisdom of 10 and no skill he will succeed in the aid another check 55% of the time. So in a day of gathering they could potentially add 5 units of rations, enough to feed all the NPC.That would make thinks simpler as they would be capable to manage while we are away.
At the same time our group will be able to gather food while marching. It would slow us down but it will allow us to stay away for an almost unlimited spawn of time (in an half day of gathering we would be able to gather approximately 6 units of food, exactly what we will consume).
With the boat we have made some improvement in Ishirou attitude. Any suggestion on how we can further improve the NPC attitude?

Mikail Ruben |

Will give Celine the rest of the day to post and run her myself tomorrow if nothing shows.
I will sen her a mail.

DM DoctorEvil |

Unfortunately, I think you have been waiting on me. It has become quite obvious that the rigors of my job post-promotion will prevent me from spending the requisite time to run this game appropriately.
While i like the game, and would continue, it is going to be on a rather slow-pace if I can only post 2-3 times per week (or less).
I am giving all the ability to opt out here with no hard feelings. I would completely understand if that pace is too slow for you, but I am usually booked solid until on work until after 10PM most nights and that leaves little time for gaming.
I am trying to finish a few PFS scenarios I am running to free up the time, but even then it won't be a daily game.
LMK if you wish to bail and we will either fold or regroup appropriately.

Mikail Ruben |

I am ok with a slower pace.
I hope in time you will find a better balance between job and life (non necessarily gaming, there are plenty of things in life beside it).
I am of the "I work to live" school, not the "I live to work". I know that sometime our jobs can be a wonderful and dedicating most of our time to them can be a pleasure, but they should never be everything we do.

Chikura Mutota |

I can deal with that as well. (Post-promotion can be like that, as I well know.) Incidentally, I was on the road this weekend, which is why I've been quiet. I'm also going to be away this coming weekend. My daughter starts a real job on the 12th, and we're moving her to her new apartment.
