"That can't happen again! Where is the little . . .." And Gudada charges across the battlefield, intent on taking down the archer who just skewered him. Naturally, running that far from any assistance and throwing caution to the wind, his swing goes wild and he opens himself up to both rider and mount right next to him . . ..

Dolgrin unleashes a series of furious blows at the Red Goblin hammering him unmercifully until dead.

The heroic Aleksander races to the aid of the wounded gnome sorceror and batters the Blue Goblin senseless with his truncheon, leaving only the bow-wielding goblins on the field.

Mirroring the ranger and angered by his arrow wound, Gudada also charges across the road at the mounted goblin only to see his attack stymied by a deft sidestep of the goblin mount.

Leaves Viviana and Beagan before the shooters start up again. Go get 'em!

Beagan looks down at the small wound in his shoulder.

I've been shot! I've never been shot before. Why doesn't it huuuu"-YEEEEOW THAT HURT! HE SHOT ME!"

Instinctively and angrily, Beagan steps around Alex, who is trying to guard the gnome, and drops another pool of grease under the Grey Goblin.

Die Dog Die - Round 2 - concluded

Beagan takes his first wound like a man. He then steps behind the heroic ranger, and tosses more slippery goo on the ground at the feet of Gray,who staggers slightly, but rights himself for another shot.

The priestess steps up and calls upon Shelyn to give succor to all in this combat, the scented magic heals friend and foe alike. You see two unconscious goblins (White and Blue) begin to stir and start to rise. The heroes also feel their wounds begin to bind them selves and their hearts lift at the feeling.

Re-awakened, but still prone Goblins are marked with blue circles.

After remaining unaffected by the magical grease, Grey Goblin fires again, this time at Alek, the human shield. The arrow scratches the soldier leaving only a small trickle of blood.

The mounted goblin allows his mount a chomp at the tasty human flesh nearby guides his mount around turning in place, and shouldering his bow. Responding, the rat things takes a huge chunk out of the man's off-arm which he threw up to shield himself.

Gudada needs DC 12 Fort Save. After these 7 HP, I show him at 1 HP even after the healing from the Viviana

The rider shoulders his bow, and makes ready his long wicked spear for close in work. He also sidesteps the dog thing to the left slightly.

The young man's guttural, animalistic howl is followed with a quick stream of rhythmic Varisian words, almost spat at the goblin before him.

Regaining consciousness from the power of Shelyn, Blue tries to rise from his prone position, grabbing for his dogslicer on the way up, leaving himself exposed to the adjacent heroes.

Provokes AoO from Aleksansder and Beagan if the gnome is armed and threatening that square. Go ahead and roll those and Dolgrin can try to re-plant White and take an AoO also since he'll try to rise also. After that, the rest of the hero group can post.

Suddenly swamped by hostile attackers, Aleksander lashes out hastily swinging wildly at the goblin he thought he just dropped moments ago.

"THE HELL JUST HAPPENED?! WHOSE SIDE ARE YOU ON ANYWAY?!"

Caught off-guard by the sudden change in the pace of the battle, Aleks begins to worry as what moments ago looked like a mop-up threatens to turn into a complete rout.

Die Dog Die - Round 3 - continued

Going to DM-PC for Dolgrin both the AoO and his normal count as it's been 36 hours.

Dolgrin delays, giving White Goblin the initiative. The goblin tries to scramble to its feet, but Dolgrin gives it a well aimed kick in the rather large head. The kick strikes hard and a telling crack lets the dwarf ranger know the goblin's neck snapped and it won't be getting up again.

Dolgrin moves down to 23 in initiative count but now gets an action against other goblin also...

The goblin-hating monk then circles around Beagan and takes a strike at the recently revived Blue Goblin, throwing a hay-maker fist at the creature, but his feet get tangled with the nearby gnome, making his punch harmless.

Aleksander also swings twice at the cagey Blue but the goblin deftly avoids his truncheon's wild swings growling menacingly.

Unarmed AoO: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
Crit Confirm: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22

Actually, the creature only gets an AoO if you don't have Improved Trip and he's threatening you. If you fail the CMB check by 10 or more, you automatically fall prone unless you have a trip weapon. Does that make sense?

Well i will surely hit the ground then.... by the way if Viviana gets targeted by more then one attack she will use the addoration power against the dog,since she is afraid of it.


Die, Dog, Die - Round 3 - concluded

Pierced by arrows and bleeding from wounds, Gudada continues the fight, circling around the mounted goblin and striking at him with his sap. The sap, unfortunately, strikes nothing but air as the mobile rider leans out of the young Varisian's reach.

Keeping the human soldier in between him and the suddenly revived goblin, Beagan launches his icy ray at the bow-wielding goblin in the grease field. The ray strikes the creature, but the effect is minimal.

Viviana meanwhile rushes forward to aid the injured Gudada by tripping at the legs of the rat-dog. The dog however, grabs the shaft of her glaive and begins tugging it for an instant before the priestess can right herself and get the weapon back.

Grey Goblin bow in hand looks to return fire at the gnome who blasted him with cold, the arrow finding a true target in the gnome's wee shoulder. Grey cackles with laughter, re-loading his bow.

Gold Goblin turns his mount to the circling Varisian, the rat thing looking to take a big bite of flesh. The sharp rodent teeth hook into Gudada tearing a chunk from his body, causing him to fall over wounded and bleeding.

The rider then coaxes his mount forward, bringing his weapon slashing around at Viviana, the stroke mistimed as the mount struggles against the reins looking for fresh meat.

Poor Gudada is down and dying. Needs DC 13 CON check to self stabilize. Beagan also takes 3 HP with another arrow. Things are not looking good for the home team.

Kinda how it goes. I do play very tactical characters fairly often. Gudada's not one of them. I didn't know that myself until it happened.

Aleksander contemptuously thumps his sap into the distracted goblin and then sets out on a zigg-zagging run across the courtyard at the goblin archer, jinking left and right to make himself a less appealing target for missile fire.

Dolgrin's flurry is dodged again by the crafty goblin, but the flanking manuever works as it's attention is distracted from Aleksander's sap which crunches into his head with a dull thud, dropping the menace. Aleksander then works his way across the field trying to dodge arrows along the way.

Beagan and Viviana are up. Gudadais still down

Beagan's eyes go wide, not from the second injury he's received, but from seeing his fallen comrade.

"Gu... Gudada! No! I'm coming!"

The excitement and smile that Beagan once wore has vanished, replaced now by seething anger. He marches directly behind Viviana with tears in his eyes as he attempts to buy his friends an opportunity in this fight.

Grease (again) on the 10' square between Gudada and Viv. DC 15 Reflex or the dog falls prone. 3/4 spells used today.

Intimidated by the goblin's blade, Viviana steps back and tries to disarm him.

If the goblin fail his save she will take the opportunity and strike at him directly.

Beagan yells as he sees his ally fall, and floats another coating of slippery butter onto the ground under the mounted goblin. After a moment's stumble on the treacherous footing, the rat-dog stabilizes and remains standing.

At the same time,Vivana uses her long weapon to pry the goblin spear out of the goblin's hand and it clatters to the ground noisily.

Across the field, Grey sees Aleksander approach and drops his bow, drawing his horsechopper and ready for the coming melee, trying to step out of the first grease spot and hacking at the approaching ranger, successful wounding him in the leg.

Gold goblin spurs his mount forward trying to get it out of the slippery grease but the creature stumbles, not quite falling, and cannot get started. The goblin rider, meanwhile, re-draws his bow since his horsechopper has fallen to the ground.

Unless I'm much mistaken, you can't melee attack in the same round as you attempt a combat maneuver. You'll have to hit him next round. He could've had an AoO on you, but the reach weapon kept him from threatening. The goblins good rolls continue. Aleksander takes 3 hp, I have him at 8/12 now.

I meant that i will use regular attack instead of disarm if he fails his save vs Beagan spell and fall prone.Alas this goblins are experienced grease walkers. :)

Edit: i moved 5ft back to use my glaive so the goblin do have AOO .
I hadn't realized that horsechoppers are reach weapons.
He need to beat DC15 will save to hit me from the other hand.

I think I was unclear above. The horsechopper is NOT a reach weapon. He cannot AoO you since you stepped back to 10' away so you could use your reach weapon to disarm him.

Yeah, the dice roller is on fire if you're a goblin and ice cold if you're not. Strange. You guys walked pretty easy through first two encounters though.

I had moved behind Viviana last turn. I can't move my token during the day, as it won't work on my work PC or phone.

Frustrated, Beagan will fire another Ray of Frost at the wounded Grey goblin.

As the goblin is occupied by Beagan trick,Viviana circles around him to check Gudada.
The Varisan does not seem in danger and she focus on defeating the enemy.

Die, Dog, Die - Round 5 - concluded

Seeing the nearby goblins drop, Dolgrin races across the field to threaten the mounted goblin. At the same time, Viviana circles the greasy area, checking quickly on the stabilized Gudada before poking at the goblin again with her holy weapon. Unfortunately, her attack fails to connect in any way. Wounded from arrows, Beagan's cold spray falls well short of threatening any targets.

Throwing down his sap, Aleksander steps back from his assailant, nocks an arrow and fires it straight into the midsection of Grey Goblin, but these bow-wielding goblins are a tougher sort, and the goblin steps back in, closing the distance, and swipes at him with his horsechopper but the nimble ranger avoids the stroke.

Gold Goblin tries to spur his mount out of the grease once again, sputtering in fury. Driving the mount hard, the goblin causes it to stumble and fall, but the skilled rider is able to leap off as the rat-dog crashes to the ground, regaining his feet without damage.

From the south end, Hosk releases an arrow at the dismounted goblin, striking it in the shoulder. The guardsmen also begin to advance spears at the ready.

No damage for our heroes this round, but the goblins take hits. And the grease spell finally paid off a little. The mount is prone, but the rider is not (although he gets no move action). I made a random determination of which square the rider is in. Let's move on to Round 6


Die Dog Die - Round 6

The first salvo of Hosk's arrows sunk deep in the enemy, the guards are advancing and the goblins are in a bad position. From his hiding spot near the old guardhouse, the man shouts encouragement to the heroes, standing up from behind the woodpile.

Die, Dog, Die - Round 6 - continued

The angry dwarf monk, seeing the tumbled rider, steps up and tries to punch each of the enemy creatures. The prone dog is notable to dodge and takes the fist across the snout, letting out a yelp/scream of pain. The goblin rider avoids Dolgrin's blow, but leaves himself open to the long-reaching glaive of Viviana. The holy weapon pierces the goblin's armor and leaves a long gash on the rider, which along with the arrow cause him to droop noticeably as he stumbles out of the greasy grass and, drawing his goblin knife from his belt, attacks the dwarf, the monk knocking the blade aside before it can pierce him.

The fallen and now punched dog, attempts to roll to it's feet, provoking an AoO from Dolgrin and Viviana

Across the field, Aleksander continues to step back from Greyand fire at him. His shot misses, but the opening it leaves, lets Beagan unload and extra-powerful frost ray that burns the goblin's skin leaving him dazed and slowing him significantly. Grey actually steps back from the heroes, fumbling in his gear for a small glass vial of blue liquid, which he finally gets out, only to have a goose-feathered arrow smack into his chest. Eyes lolling, the goblin falls over.

Seeing his opponent drop, Aleksander looses another hastily aimed shot, then lunges back into the melee with an arrowhead gripped firmly in his palm and aimed square at the goblin's back, hoping to buy the dwarf an opening to drop his target.

Die Dog Die - Round 7 - continued

As the rat-dog tries to regain it's feet, it is set upon by Dolgrin and Viviana both of whom strike it with lethal force, ending the struggling mount's existence.

After dispatching the dog, Dolgrin pivots on the remaining goblin. From the corner of his eye, he sees Aleksander approaching ready to stab with an arrow in the distracted goblin. Playing along, Dolgrin sends his fists flying.

The arrow finds the neck of the creature who turns startled only to be caught full in the face by the second of the monk's blows. The combination proves to be too much for the miscreant, who crumples to the ground in a heap.

End of Combat

Congratulations! You made it through all the goblin fights which is farther than 75% of all PbP RotRL apparently. The cavalry has come to aid you, but you managed most of the work yourselves even a man down. You each earned 241 xp for this combat, putting your total at 497/1300 or about 40% to Level 2.


The town of Sandpoint lies strangely quiet after this eventful day. Those that saw today as a day of pleasure and promise, were astonished when it turned into a day of pain and death instead. The last goblins have left the town, fires still burn here and there, but an unnerving stillness is taking hold.

With the close of hostilities, the nobleman approaches your group, his hand extended in friendship. "Amazing!...simply amazing! Especially, you,"he says looking at Viviana. "Never have I seen...someone act so...heroic on the battlefield. What a sight...simply amazing!" He looks her up and down nodding as he says it.

"I simply must insist you all join me for a late supper at my lodgings in the White Deer. It seems the least I can do to re-pay your heroics." He is speaking to all of you but his eyes are fixed on Miri to the exclusion of the others.

The guardsmen, led by Hosk, begin searching the goblins stripping them of armor and weapons, and any other loot. From time to time, you see Hosk bend over and cut the ear of a goblin, adding it his rucksack. In the dark you hear and then see the Sherriff also approaching followed by Father Zantus, head of the cathedral.
