Gudada Purrun |

Not wanting to get any closer to the fire, or to risk stepping into the greasy spot with open flame that close, Gudada chooses to stay right where he is and try to shut this mumbling creature up. Apparently, NOT throwing himself into a tumble as part of the strike is enough to disrupt his swing, and the young Varisian misses wildly, almost spinning himself about as his arm whizzes over the goblin's head.
-----
Round 4
Sap Attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Standard action only, no other activity

Viviana |

Viviana attempts to divert the goblin attention from Dolgrin attack, and steps to the right.
aid another: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
if successful Dolgrin gets +2 to his next attack.
Pfff..should have just casted guidance..

DM DoctorEvil |

Goblin Pyros - Round 4 - continued
Aleksander's distance sniping continues to good effect as he fires an arrow that strikes the chanter in the mid-section doubling her over with a groan.
The sudden bending means that Gudada's skull-crushing sap blow strikes only air instead of goblin head.
The cleric of Shelyn tries to distract the gobliness enough to leave an opening for Dolgrin but the wounded creature pays her little attention.
She is hurt but not down. Time for Beagan and Dolgrin again

Dolgrin Hammerfist |

Round 4. Init 4.
Dolgrin lashes out with his fists, hoping to finally silence its caterwauling.
Full round flurry of blows
Flurry Attack w/ hatred: 1d20 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 2 + 1 = 6
Flurry Attack w/ hatred: 1d20 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 2 + 1 = 22
Damage w/ blooded: 1d6 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 3 + 1 = 5

DM DoctorEvil |

Goblin Pyros - Round 4 - concluded
The combination of blows from the dwarven monk finshes off the doubled over gobliness, sending her slumping to the ground.
End of Combat
Nice work finishing them off. You each earned 148 xp for that combat which puts your total at 256/1300 or about 20% of what's required for Lvl 2. Nice job. I will put summary in Discussion. You are out of rounds.

DM DoctorEvil |

The battle is ended and the fire is slowly being brought under control. A few homes are damaged, a few stalls ruined, but the overall carnage was controlled by your quick-thinking and rapid actions.
As you stand there panting and gasping after the near constant battle, a town guard rushes up to you."'Cuse me, Your Honors, but the Sherriff'd like word with you at the Cathedral steps, if you can. Follow me and we'll get there."
Picking your way through the litter of goblin bodies and the carnage of the fight you see Hemlock in discussion with Father Zantus. As you approach the cleric turns to you. "Desna be praised, you have saved the church and the town from a burning. However can we repay you?"
Sherriff Hemlock looks askance at the priest, "Ya can start by getting them some o' that Butterfly Magic an' healing their wounds. I need their help further."
"Oh yes, of course," Zantus says. He makes the requisite prayers and gestures and a restorative touch renews your spirit and heals your wounds.
Channel Energy: 2d6 ⇒ (6, 2) = 8
Take a few moments to rest and recuperate as needed. Will get the next post up sometime this evening that moves the action along. Don't wander off to far.

Aleksander Kramer |

"Heck of a fight..." Aleksander exhales sharply, letting go of the tension as he relaxes in a slightly more safe environment.
"Thanks for watching my back out there." Aleks nods to the other erstwhile combatants thrown together in the fight. His tone is respectful and there is none of the aloof distance from the previous night's dinner.
Turning back to Sheriff Hemlock, Aleks nods.
"What do you need done, Sheriff? Always willing to help, but I wouldn't have had any success at all without Misters Purrun, Burlesquetu, Milady' Arideo and..." Aleksander pauses and glances at the dwarf...
"Huh... I don't believe we've been properly introduced... 'Dolgrin' was it?"

Beagan Burlesquetu |

Beagan wipes the sweat from his brow. He's not used to such physically demanding activities, clearly.
"That... Was... Amazing! The way grumpy dwarf went POW! And the Viviana sliced and diced! And Gudada went SMACK! upside the goblin's head! And Alek went TWANG! with his bow and shot the goblin in the face!"

Viviana |

"Heck of a fight..."
"True . Why would this creatures attack like that? Is this normal around here?"
Viviana looks at her blood stained glaive with disgust.
"That... Was... Amazing! The way grumpy dwarf went POW! And the Viviana sliced and diced! And Gudada went SMACK! upside the goblin's head! And Alek went TWANG! with his bow and shot the goblin in the face!"
"What about you red hair? I thought that you are just entertainer, you didn't mention that you could do magic. "
Viviana goes to the dead goblin with the intention to clean her weapon in his rags ,but steps in the grease sullying her shoes.
"And where did this come from?"

Gudada Purrun |

The young Varisian looks, well, disturbed. Maybe even sullen.
He goes about cleaning himself up after the fight, and trying to get his things put right. As Beagan's excitement overflows, he turns towards the gnome, "There's nothing exciting about being forced to fight. People die because of attacks like that. Nothing good comes of this sort of thing. If you're lucky, you and the people you care about survive the event. That's fortunate, but not having to risk your life because of the attack would be far better."

Beagan Burlesquetu |

For a brief moment, Beagan's cheeks turn the same color as his hair. He doesn't recall being this embarrassed about something in a long time, but not in a shameful way. More pride than anything else.
"That would be me. Oops."

Sherriff Belor Hemlock |

As Hemlock turns to you, "This attack is definitely, NOT norm..." His sentence is interrupted by the sound of a frantic dog bark comes from the north, followed by the scream of a man. "You best go see what that commotion is, my guards and I will make sure none o' these gobbies are still in the town. Sounds like it's coming from 'round Northgate." He nods his thanks and orders his squad of soldiers through the yard, checking for any stray or straggling goblins.
If you choose to honor the Sheriff's request and investigate the screams and furious barking, place your tokens at south edge of the City Walls map. That link will also be added to Campaign tab and top of page.

Dolgrin Hammerfist |

"Aye," the dwarf says. "Dolgrin be my name. An' it be in poor taste them goblins done attacked during the town's festivities. Got what's commin' to 'em."
He cocks his head at the cries and turns and heads off to investigate. "It seems there could be more trouble.

Gudada Purrun |

"If you think we can help save lives, what choice do we have, really? You want us to go THAT way" as he points North "but my actual combat gear is THAT way." as he points back South, towards the inn where the group spent the night.
Still obviously unhappy with what's happening, the Varisian heads to the North.
------------
It looks like the characters are all pretty much on the map. I'm not that picky about where we enter the map, so . . ..

DM DoctorEvil |

Following the sound of a worried dog barking ferociously, you jog up Church Street and nearly all the way to Northgate, where you entered town yesterday. To your left is the back side of the White Deer Inn, the ornate stag carvings chopped and burning, the building mostly untouched. To your right, and old stable and guardpost, which looks like it has been ransacked. Ahead looms the city wall and Northgate.
The barking seems to be coming from near the wall and slightly to your right. In the darkness, it's hard to make out exactly what's happening from 100 ft away.
I hope it's obvious if you score higher than a 20, that you can read the 15 too, etc. Per rule, you can also gain a +1 bonus for every 10ft you approach from the immediate bottom of the map.

Viviana |

Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Well i can at least try to RP it....
"Yes , maybe that dog smelled goblins , let's check ."
Viviana obviously pays more attention to her shoes, not to the road ahead.
" Beagan, can you make this greasy stuff disappear or something?"

Dolgrin Hammerfist |

Do we use the same roll for all the perception checks? So this roll beats DC 15, but Dolgrin moves 20' for the +2 and he'll see what's in DC 20?
You mention darkness. Does darkvision change the DCs (at least for things within 60')?
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18
Dolgrin curses, "There's a goblin ridin' a giant.. rat-dog.. attackin' the poor thing. Best we hustle. 'Ware fer others."
Start moving towards the action, pending answers to the above questions.

Viviana |

"Well, certainly I can get rid of it. But where's the fun in that?"
"The fun?The fun is that i wont..."
Dolgrin curse interrupts her.
"There's a goblin ridin' a giant.. rat-dog.. attackin' the poor thing. Best we hustle. 'Ware fer others."
"What goblins ,i can't see any goblins... Hey ,wait for us!"
Viviana moves after Dolgrin and looks around nervously.
"What did you saw exactly rat or dog? Please say it was dog."
Move next to Dolgrin

Gudada Purrun |

Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
"No, it is a goblin mounted on a rat with some sort of spear or lance or something. At least it is JUST a dog . . .."

Aleksander Kramer |

Mechanics:
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
Ooh. I love Google Docs. Watching the little tokens zoom around the map.
---------------------------------
"Watch for the flankers people! Goblins! North-East and North-West in the bushes."
He raises his voice. "BACK UP! BACK UP! POSSIBLE AMBUSH!"

DM DoctorEvil |

Dolgrin yes that's how the mechanics works. Add another +2 to your perception roll if you have darkvision.
Die Dog Die - Pre-Surprise Round
Aleksander is able to get your attention and point out the goblins cowering in the bushes on both sides of the road. They are intently watching the by-play between the mounted goblin and the barking dog and are unaware of your approach.
Good Guys
Aleksander: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
Gudada: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
Viviana: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
Beagan: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14
Dolgrin: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Bad Guys
Mounted Goblin: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Grey Dismounted Goblin: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
Blue Goblin: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
Red Goblin: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
White Goblin: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
25 Blue Goblin
24 White Goblin
20 Aleksander
18 Red Goblin
17 Gudada
14 Beagan
10 Viviana
10 Grey Goblin
7 Gold Goblin (mounted)
3 Dolgrin
For a change, you have the opportunity to surprise the bad guys. Here's how we'll play this: If you want to advance, you must make a stealth roll that needs to beat opposed Perception checks by the goblins. Actions must be either Standard or Move Actions and movement in stealth is half speed unless you want a -5 penalty to your roll.
Once you are discovered or choose to attack, we play out the existing surprise round, then off to normal Round 1. Make sense?
Blue Perc: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (12) - 1 = 11
White Perc: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (16) - 1 = 15
Red Perc: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (6) - 1 = 5
Grey Perc: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Gold Perc: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Red, White, and Blue Goblins all cower in fear in the bushes on the side of the road, as the dog barks and fights with the mounted Grey Goblin and it's fearsome rat-like mount.
Ok, Aleksander, then Gudada. Remember, stealth rolls and Move or SA only in these surprise-type rounds. Good luck!

Gudada Purrun |

Pre-Round
'Dada attempts to sneak up behind the closer bushes, still trying to see the goblins actually hidden within.
-----
Single move action at half speed (15' movement)
Stealth: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
Not great, but good enough!

Aleksander Kramer |

Mechanics:
Surprise Round:
Move Action: Advance Along Blue Arrow
Combat Gear - Parade Armor (+3 ARM), Buckler (+1 Shield), Longbow, 14 Arrows, Sap.
-----------------------------
Aleks advances cautiously, well aware that the situation is likely to explode into violence almost immediately.

DM DoctorEvil |

Yeah that roll's not gonna be good enough to keep you out of sight of the gobbos.
The barking dog lunges at the rat-dog thing taking it's throat in his teeth, but the goblin rider plants his spear firmly in the dog's flank. Ultimately, the dog receives a mortal wound but manages to kill the goblin mount nearby, leaving the rider stranded on the ground.
During the fray, Aleksander attempts to creep up on the unaware goblins, but his feet trip over a pile of debris looted from the guardhouse, making enough noise that the White Goblin turns and sees you in the road. It starts to screech alerting the others who had begun hooting and capering around with the death of the hated mongrel dog.
Since Aleksander was first in initiative and gave up the ghost on sneaking, everyone who follows gets normal surprise round action (either Move or Standard), this means Gudada can take a full move instead of half. The goblins will not act in the surprise round, so Viviana, Beagan and Dolgrin can all go when possible. If you moved from the map edge, it needs to be counted as part of this Move Action, thanks!

Gudada Purrun |

If you moved from the map edge, it needs to be counted as part of this Move Action, thanks!
Well, I have no idea which square on the bottom edge I started in, but I know that I moved twice, once up the road and then across trying to sneak. 'Dada's current location is AROUND 30' of diagonal movement from where he started. Moves happened on the map with each of my last two posts above. Looks like my location stays the same.

Gudada Purrun |

Gudada feeling more confident? Are you sure that's possible? Bravado defines an awful lot of how he interacts with the world already . . .. I hope you're smiling.
Oh, yeah, and Thank You!

DM DoctorEvil |

Dolgrin - I hadn't considered giving them concealment before, but now that you mention it...Let's say they have simple concealment a 20% miss chance and no cover. They will be moving out of the bushes soon anyway...
Viviana I show that as your last Lvl 1 spell of the day. Agree?
Gudada I moved you back a bit because I hadn't placed the goblins yet and you were nearly atop them. Sorry for mixing you up.
Die, Dog, Die - Surprise Round - continued
After Aleksander advances and gets the goblins attention, Gudada moves nearer, readying his sap. He stops for a moment to get a blessing from Viviana in the form of an enchantment making him harder to hit in combat. The confident Varisian juggler grins broadly knowing the extra protection will do him good. Beagan scurries to keep pace with the longshanks.
Just waiting on an action from Dolgrin and we'll move to round 1.

Dolgrin Hammerfist |

You didn't mention if it was difficult terrain. I'll assume it is because of the concealment.
Dolgrin steps forwards and readies to attack.
Free action: 5' step N
Standard action: Ready to attack.
Readied Attack: 1d20 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 3 + 1 = 13
Bah, probably a miss. At least it might change his initiative for later, lol.

Gudada Purrun |

I hadn't considered giving them concealment before, but now that you mention it...
Under Pathfinder rules, concealment is a minimum REQUIREMENT for Stealth issues. Without something like Invisibility or Hide in Plain Sight, a character has to start and finish his turn in concealment in order to remain hidden.
Based on knowing that rule, when they were a DC 20 to see and we could roll stealth against them, I had assumed concealment was provided (both ways) by the bushes.

DM DoctorEvil |

I don't claim to know every rule, so thanks for pointing out. They'll break from cover now and hopefully the point will be moot anyway. If you see my lurching away from the rules, please point it out as above.
Die, Dog, Die - Round 1
25 Blue Goblin
24 White Goblin
20 Aleksander
18 Red Goblin
17 Gudada
14 Beagan
10 Viviana
10 Grey Goblin
7 Gold Goblin (mounted)
3 Dolgrin (action readied move to count 25)
Blue Goblin clambers through the bushes after the death of the dog and the sight of the approaching heroes. He closes in on the group without being close enough to launch a melee attack.
As White Goblin approaches, Dolgrin aims a bare fist at the creature, but the blow is off and the goblin ducks under, rising up with a dogslicer stroke of his own at the dwarf but the blade caroms off the dwarf's rough hide, snapping off at the hilt and leaving the goblin weaponless in the face of three enemies.
White Slicer: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Aleksander, you're up. Gudada, not far behind.

Gudada Purrun |

I acknowledge that I am assuming neither Aleksander nor Red Goblin will make the following untenable.
Breaking with what his previous attacks this day have made tradition, the young performer tumbles around the goblin FIRST, and then attacks him after positioning himself "behind" it . . .. This swing of the sap appears far more traditional, though, catching the goblin across the base of the skull.
----
Acrobatics Tumble (probably not actually required): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20
Flanking Sap Attack: 1d20 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 1 + 2 = 19
Sap+Sneak Attack Nonlethal Damage: 2d6 + 1 ⇒ (1, 6) + 1 = 8

Aleksander Kramer |

Mechanics:
Round 1:
Move Action: Blue Arrow
Standard Action: Fire Arrow at Goblin.
Attack Roll: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 5 + 1 = 12
FOR THE LOVE OF MIKE!
Combat Gear - Parade Armor (+3 ARM), Buckler (+1 Shield), Longbow, 13 Arrows, Sap.
-----------------------------
Aleksander, nocks a hasty shot on the run as he moves to rejoin the group

DM DoctorEvil |

Die Dog Die - Round 1 - continued
Aleksander's hasty shot flies wide of the advancing Blue Goblin as he steps back away from the melee.
Red Goblin steps out of the bushes in a flanking position on the hated dwarf then lunges at him with his feral blade, sinking it into the occupied dwarf's right shoulder. 3 HP Damage Dolgrin
Red Slicer: 1d20 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 + 2 = 20
Dolgrin Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 3
Gudada follows with an impressive display of acrobatics, moving around the White Goblin, avoiding any attacks from his scratching fingers, and bops him on the head with his sap from behind, crumpling the miscreant in a heap on the ground.
Wasn't sure which goblin you were after, but your sap hits and blanks whichever you choose. Time for Beagan and Viviana

Viviana |

Viviana quickly run around the goblin and strike at him while his attention is occupied by Dolgrin.
Attack: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 4 + 2 = 17
damage: 1d10 ⇒ 1
But her reluctance to do harm weakens the blow.
@DM Yes, no more spells until Viviana gets her beuty sleep.

Gudada Purrun |

Yes, I meant to get into flank with Dolgrin in order to have the sneak attack die! Guess I forgot to make the changes on the map. My bad.

Beagan Burlesquetu |

Round 1, Init 14
Being a bit too close for comfort, Beagan takes a 5' step back and fires a ray of frost at the Blue Goblin.
"Hey, just chill out! Ha! Get it!?"
Ranged Touch: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
Cold Damage: 1d3 ⇒ 1

DM DoctorEvil |

Ok, this is the third time I've tried writing this post. What with the website crashing and my internet service outage, I have been frustrated so far.
Die Dog Die - Round 1 - concluded
Beagan waves a burst of frosty air at the oncoming Blue Goblin who slows, snorts shaking his head from side to side, and continues his on-rush.
Meanwhile, Viviana circles Red prodding at it with her long glaive. Her attempt successfully gets past the ankle-biter's defenses but her attack lacks conviction and the goblin ends up with merely a scratch.
Grey Goblin, freshly upright after seeing his rat-dog mount take a mortal spill, unslings his shortbow and prowls across the road, looking for a good target by firelight. As he clears the brush, he sees the gnome in his crosshairs and releases his shot. The arrow skids across the unarmored skin of Beagan causing a small welling of blood on his shoulder.
From Northgate, the mounted Gold Goblin races into the fray. Riding hard towards the ruined guardhouse, the mount stops suddenly and the goblin launces an arrow from his bow at Gudada. The bolt aimed directly at this heart is deflected at the last moment by the awesome poer of Shelyn, who's protection still surrounds the young Varisian, thanks to Viviana
End of Round 1
[b]Beagan takes a small wound (2hp) and Guduada is narrowly missed thanks to the Shield of Faith. Goblins armed with bows, and accurate with them too! Our heroes better clean this mess up in a hurry before someone gets seriously hurt. On to Round 2.
Grey Bow: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
Beagan Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 2
Gold Ride Hands Free: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 19
Gold Arrow: 1d20 + 5 - 4 - 4 ⇒ (19) + 5 - 4 - 4 = 16

DM DoctorEvil |

Die Dog Die - Round 2
The madness around you in the rest of Sandpoint seems to have lessened. The maddening chanting is over, and, while fires still burn in the town, the goblin attack seems to have ended -- except near Northgate, where the heroes are in the the thick of it.
25 Blue Goblin (wounded)
25 Dolgrin (readied last round)
24 White Goblin
20 Aleksander
18 Red Goblin (wounded)
17 Gudada
14 Beagan
10 Viviana
10 Grey Goblin
7 Gold Goblin (mounted)
Even after taking the ray of ice, Blue advances into knife range fo the gnome sorceror, making a sweeping cut, but Beagan spryly dodges the goblins's wicked blade.
Blue Slicer: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Ok, Dolgrin, you can start us. Others post when you can and I'll get them in sequence, sorry for the delay.

Gudada Purrun |

The 16 attack roll hits Gudada. As I noted in his stat line, the 15 AC includes the Shield of Faith. You're right! Those goblins ARE accurate with their bows!

Dolgrin Hammerfist |

Question, did White Goblin not get KO'd by Gudada?
Round 2
"Now tha' wasnae very nice," Dolgrin snarls on being struck by the nearby goblin and directs his ire at it, lashing out with fist and foot, using Viviana's distraction to good effect.
Flurry attack w/ hatred & flanking: 1d20 + 2 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 + 1 + 2 = 16
Damage w/ blooded: 1d6 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 3 + 1 = 5
Flurry attack w/ hatred & flanking: 1d20 + 2 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 + 1 + 2 = 22
Damage w/ blooded: 1d6 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 3 + 1 = 8

Aleksander Kramer |

Mechanics:
Assuming Gudada has bludgeoned the white goblin into insensibility, it's Combat Rescue Time!
Move Action: Advance(Blue Arrow). Longbow Held In Free Hand (Buckler Arm). Draw Sap as part of move (BAB 1).
Standard Action: Close Combat Attack at Red Goblin.
Melee Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
Melee Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7 Nonlethal
Combat Gear - Parade Armor (+3 ARM), Buckler (+1 Shield), Longbow, 13 Arrows, Sap.
-----------------------------
"GNOME! GET CLEAR!" Aleksander steps up, interposing himself between the Beagan and the goblin archer with weapon drawn.
As he meets the charge of the onrushing blue goblin, he lashes out with the reassuringly familiar weight of his truncheon.
