| Tanner Nielsen |
Hello, everyone.
Alex wrote to me (we have PM now?!) and let me know that people were worried about me and whether or not I was still alive.
First, I am alive, thankfully. The flooding we experienced a while ago led to structural damage of the house we were renting. This led to a contractor tearing out rotting drywall, which revealed extensive black mold. This led to losing most of our earthly possessions, including wedding and baby photos, and an incredible amount of stress all around. We had to find a new place to live. I got realllly stressed and dumped a lot of things to try to free up some mental space.
Second, I'm sorry. Really, really sorry. I dumped on you guys. I should have at least let you know so people weren't worried about me. That is completely my fault and I apologize.
I am thinking about getting back into roleplay gaming in the near future, so I will lurk for a bit and try to catch up on what has been happening with Paizo and Pathfinder since I last visited.
Thank you all, and good gaming.

I've indicated in another thread that I have no ill feeling for Tanner and am thankful things are getting back to normal for him.
On my side, new laptop is running. Map tools is now working (latest build doesn't work for some reason but the penultimate one seems OK). Maps may be a bit rough until i've had a chance to re-build my library but update should hopefully be in next few days.

Hmm we restart, Khalid praises the game and suddenly Nuveril rolls a 1. Coincidence? Attack die curse transferred? You decide.
Being completely selfish, I have to admit it would be nice for that particular bane to leave Khalid alone for a bit ;)

Would be a very odd line if it did read that. To me, it seems obvious they meant 'When you use Elemental Fist'.
But the short table reads- Deal 1d6 energy damage with an unarmed strike.
So that settles it anyway. It would have been cheesy anyway :)

Advance notice: I'm going to be traveling for a week, starting on Wednesday. Should still be able to check in from the road most days, but next Sunday I'll be at the Grand Canyon, and my understanding is that there's no internet access there at all. Will be back to normal the following Wednesday.
Depends on where you are staying in the Canyon. We stayed there a week last year and the only time we had issues was camping :)
Most places/hotels even there have access. Enjoy, we had a blast and it is a magnificent place even though it snowed on us in June! Be prepared for cold weather for sure! lol's

Perception:1d20 + 10 Typical, only need to roll a friggin 5 and still can't do that.
I'll do you one better, Talomyr; I have a wizard in another game who needed to roll a 3 to make a Knowledge check (only one in the party with that Knowledge trained) and got a natural 1.
Yes, I'm still here, packing. Trying to figure out what to do in the game thread. Will post before bed.

Detect magic is not the greatest in combat spell. You really need arcane sight for that.
You cast it and get "yep you see auras" and then take another 2 rounds sorting them out as Alex says above.
With an attendant priest you certainly might expect some buffage to dispel. Although you might want it to react to what they do... The joys of playing a caster :)

You have to admit, though, AK, it's a clever way to get the barbarians a round or two to get over their fatigue. ;)
Dan, I probably won't be able to post again for 24 hours. Assume Nuveril will come out of delay whenever she can move and attack something in the main chamber. Use Acrobatics to try to avoid AoO, flank and use her Pack Hunter feat if possible. Her bonus to hit with the hammer vs. gnolls is +12 and damage is 1d6+9.

It was my only spell left. :-)
Besides, if you guys want to be hasted and blurred, that ain't happening while Zeladiel is over 100' away.
And if there's an invisible priest adjacent to the pit, or something else, they make Ref saves too. Then we just throw in some fireballs.
No fireballs? How about alchemists fire?
Lantern oil?
A wild halfling barbarian? :-)

As of Nuveril's initiative in round 13, her fatigue should be over. When she can position herself to attack the Carrion King, she'll rage.

You can grab him with a move action. I'll allow you to drop/leave him in one of your spaces as a free (in the past I've treated you as not squeezing as long as he lies helpless/prone). Or having grabbed him you can take a further move and drop/leave him in any square you travel through.
I'd also strongly advise that you do so unless you have some major distraction planned or want to take the chance he won't finish Khalid off with noone else in reach...

Just want to clarify something in advance as it might well come up in coming rounds.
Beads of force.
Have a 10' radius for AOE damage. The sphere effect however applies to a single creature. The item description doesn't say but I would rule that this is always the closest creature to the impact point (if more than one are equally close then thrower decides).
Note its use is still a throw action (although no penalties for range and AC 5 to hit a square intersection so missing takes some work).
Note also the ten minute duration unless you can subsequently dispel it down ...

If You Are Grappled: If you are grappled, you can attempt to break the grapple as a standard action by making a combat maneuver check (DC equal to your opponent's CMD; this does not provoke an attack of opportunity) or Escape Artist check (with a DC equal to your opponent's CMD). If you succeed, you break the grapple and can act normally. Alternatively, if you succeed, you can become the grappler, grappling the other creature (meaning that the other creature cannot freely release the grapple without making a combat maneuver check, while you can).Instead of attempting to break or reverse the grapple, you can take any action that doesn't require two hands to perform, such as cast a spell or make an attack or full attack with a light or one-handed weapon against any creature within your reach, including the creature that is grappling you. See the grappled condition for additional details. If you are pinned, your actions are very limited. See the pinned condition in Conditions for additional details.

No problem always happy to be pulled up although see above. His weapon is medium sized so he can wield it one-handed (with a -2 to hit which is built into his stats) while grappled although one-handed damage (which made quite a bit of difference, with slightly better damage rolls he would have taken Sajan down even with his con potion).
Not sure if the module writers had this in mind or simply wanted to make the loot more useable but works pretty well in favour of the Carrion King either way.

Wasn't sure if I was being too hasty taking Joana's turn but I gathered she's not back til tonight her time. Assume your happy with the 20 regardless.
One more day of driving; should be home in 9 or 10 hours. Current saves are F +10 R +7 W +5, +13 +10 +6 vs. magic, an extra +2 vs. fear, should it come up.

Having a look at the grapple rules for what seems like the bazillinth time but unearthed this gem.
Folks,
The RAW do allow the grappled to make a full attack action, assuming they can do so with only one hand. Since flurry does not require two hands to perform, a monk could flurry.
Grappling is not always the best idea. Grappling a monk is one such example. I think folks need to remember that the grappled condition is not as severe as it once was. You are no longer draped all over the target. It is more like you got a hold on them, typically an arm (hence the restriction). The pinned condition is more of your greco-roman wrestling hold.
Hope that clears it up..
Kind of makes the recent flurry of blows ruling debacle even sillier.
