DM Carpe's Serpents Skull

Game Master Byden

The merchant ship Jenivere has embarked upon a voyage from Magnimar to distant Eleder, in a land of jungles and ancient ruins. Our heroes have been picked up at one of the many ports along the way, and now head for the myth shrouded Mwangi expanse.

Okay, I'm just going to change what I was doing entirely. New rolls, too.

Jack waits for the impending entrance of the cannibals. He stands around the corner next to Alexite, ready to pop out and take a slash with his dagger at any cannibal who engages the ranger in melee.

Dagger: 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 6 + 1 = 25
Damage: 1d4 + 2d6 + 1 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (1) + (1, 1) + 1 + 1 + 1 = 6
Stealth: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (6) + 12 = 18

Readying a dagger attack against the first cannibal to engage Alexite in melee. I'm trying to use the cover from this corner to facilitate hiding and allowing me to have a sneak attack opportunity, even though this sneak attack is the minimum damage I could have possibly rolled! If you don't think the sneak attack from behind the cover is possible, just use the base damage of 4. :P

Alexite, I said you can use your previous roll so if we use that and your first roll you hit once and miss once with him in the doorway. Work for you?

So just waiting on Joll's actions since he's been freeing the prisoners and not really in an attacking position I'll move on, he can choose to go before or after the cannibals in the later case he would stay behind them in init, etc.

The cannibals move into the room shrieking, one with Alexite's shaft already buried in his chest hurtling forward raging, only to have Jack pop out trying for a sneak attack, but the feral man has obviously already spotted him and twists aside avoiding a vital strike, but still taking a painful hit from the magic dagger.

Terribly injured the man swings for Alexite with his broken scimitar, but sways woozily whipping his blade through the air clear of the ranger's body.

The other two cannibals race in through the other door, one moving past Quinta, who cannot take advantage of the opportunity he presents with her whip, to slash at Joll. The other moves in a strikes at the bard, raking his rusty blade down her forearm!

Ishirou moves up dodging and wweaving to strike at the cannibal menacing Joll and manages to skewer the man with a stiff lunge, obviously still pained from his rough treatment there is little power in the cut.

Don't have time to update the map before work, but the cannibals are at J14, M18, and M15 respectively and Ishirou is at M19. Old map link for convenience.

Alexite had barely time to dodge when the raging cannibal was on top of him. He quickly maneuvered and whipped out his falchion. Handling the family's blade in two hands, he slashed at the frothing savage. The falchion bit deep and almost cut the man in two.

I only see the cannibal in M15. I the one Joll struck still lives, so his next attack will target him again.

Disbelief washes across Joll's face as he sees the savage maintain himself despite his wounds. Too stupid to die! Joll thinks as he strikes his morningstar again into his wretched enemy. The impact makes a sickening, yet satisfying sound, as blood sprays forth into Joll's face.

The cannibal dies punctured by fangs, bludgeoned, and very stabbed. The group can hear shouts all around and the door to the southern hut, near the guard post, is opened spilling out light.

Jask moves up to Quinta and shakes his head,

"I am out of spells from this mornings endure elements still, but I can channel, though perhaps it would be better to save that for when multiple people need healing given the current situation?"

You have two rounds to act.

Note that generally speaking Quinta would need to activate her fangs on her turn since its a free action not an immediate action, so she cannot really use them for aoos unless they have been activated. Very nice combo with the whip though.

Jack opens the door to reveal a crude but comfortable bed made from driftwood, with what appears to be a homemade feather mattress. Scattered about the floor are the remains of several meal, and the group swiftly recognize a number of them as rations from the Jenivere.

As Jack does that Ishirou opens the other door,

"I doubt we have to worry about traps this is there home, you don't set traps on doors you use everyday this is not a dungeon."

The room before them is larger and decorated with an assortment of relics presumably taken from the wreck of the Thrune's Fang. The ship's great figurehead in the form of Asmodeus which looms hugely upon the northern wall, giving the area a temple-like appearance.

Then cannibals begin swarming into the guard room just outside the lighthouse. With nothing obvious to wedge the door immediately available Sasha slams the door closed pressing herself against it, and asking Joll,

"How do you think this rescue is going so far honey?"

Then footsteps sound racing down the stairs along with shrieks in infernal and several near naked cannibal women appear scimitars in hand!

The figurehead looks to have been both propped and lashed to the wall, and it probably weighs close to a ton, consisting of a larger than human sized Asmodeus and a hefty back piece. Getting it through the door would take some careful maneuvering and its certainly not going to be viable in the time frame Quinta is thinking of.

Ishirou moves over into the figurehead room and begins hastily donning his chainshirt, seeing little he can do to help for the moment.

The cannibals pound at the door, but Sasha and Joll are able to hold it closed for the moment. More ferocious cannibal women come hurtling down the stairway over their fallen comrade, the foremost lashing out at Jack with her scimitar, but missing and one of the others hurling a javelin at the rogue that merely clatters against the wall several feet overhead.

The back of the door contain only a large round metal handle, but there is nothing on the nearby wall Joll could manacle it to.

From the top of the stairs comes a great bellow of rumbling rage and great red haired giant of a cannibal comes racing down the stairs. Madness whirls in his eyes as he moves up past the women, shoving them brutally aside and finding the last one in his way he swings a gleaming falchion at her severing her torso at the waist and sending her slumping to the stairs no longer in his way...

"Klorak!" The beast of a man howls turning his blood splattered face to Jack his lips twitching spasmodically into a demonic grin that reveals every tooth has been filed to a razor sharp point.

This monster wears a suit of leather armor, crudely cured leather with metal studs sprouting about it. But horrifyingly every inch of the leather was clearly once part of a human face!

Sasha strains against the door again desperately trying to keep the cannibals back her fear lending her strength she did not know she had.

Alexite, Jack, Dragolan, and Quinta are up!
