Wow! Epic rolls again lol. The dice roller hates us.

(No surprise round)

Round 1_______________

Karthak Ironbreaker________________
Karthak charges for the cultist's leader. But Faxon is not really surprised and dodged aside.

Arthas Sword of Ragathiel________________
Arthas charges now that the rouse is up. But again Faxon is not really surprised and dodged aside.

Jokum of the Breakbones__________________
Jokum charges forward, ranseur gripped tightly in hand, eyes cold. And again, Faxon is not really surprised and dodged aside.

Voren the Outsider__________________
Spends this round Casting Summon Monster 1 to summon a celestial eagle. Takes one round to cast. When activated, the eagle will stay for 3 rounds.

ENEMIES___________________
Faxon__________________
Taking a step back behind his desk and out of reach of the fools who charged him, Faxon drew his morning star and glanced up to the bottom of the stairway where Voren was in the middle of casting a spell.
With a thin smile, he made a gesture and spoke a word of power; complex glyphs briefly roiled around his fingers and winked out.
The power of a spell crashes into Voren. Voren, make a Fort save DC17 vs. a Blindness/Deafness spell.

TACTICAL OVERVIEW

Pld7/Grd1 LG, Init +3; HP 95/108 AC 23, t 13, ff 21, Fort +9, Ref +7, Will +8 +2 on saves against insanity or confusion.hard to kill; Immune disease, fear, Senses +6, SM +8 Aura courage (10 ft.)

"This is the sword you sought to corrupt fiend, but General Veangeance has formed it in the image of his own blade."

"Ragathiel, guide my hand and let me strike true with the blade you sent us in our dark hour. Help me strike down this traitor and servant of the dark powers!"

Arthas brings Radiance up in a beautiful arc and brings its cold iron blade down and across Faxon's body with a clean powerful stroke

To hit-smite bonus and power attack: 1d20 + 5 + 2 - 1 ⇒ (19) + 5 + 2 - 1 = 25

to confirm crit: 1d20 + 5 + 2 - 1 ⇒ (20) + 5 + 2 - 1 = 26

Damage-two handed, power Attack and Smite bonus: 2d10 + 4 + 3 + 3 ⇒ (1, 10) + 4 + 3 + 3 = 21
33 points if you double the bonuses as well as the dice, I don't know what version we go with in this game

Yes, the bonus plus and smite is also multiplied, but not extra dice damage due to precision, elemental or bane.

Male Tiefling Hedge Witch 6/Archmage 1 | AC 15/12/13 | hp: 40/51 | F +5, R +6, W +8 (+2 vs death/insanity/confusion) | CMD 15 (17 with m.o.v) | Init +6 | Perc +1 | darkvision 60ft | SM +1 | receiving healing: +2 hit points/die rolled | giving healing: +1 point

Fortitude: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5 Dang it. And I looked up the spell. Oh boy...

The enemy tiefling's spell hits Voren. He shrieks out as the spell takes its effect.

So, Camris, is Voren blind or deaf? Also, did Faxon's spell interrupt Voren's casting?

Male Dwarf Inquisitor 06 Guardian 01 HP 71/71 | AC 21 (23) T 12 FF 20 (22) | CMB +9 CMD 12 | F+10 R+5 W+10 | Init +4 | Perc +12

As Arthas strikes Karthak advances on the tiefling and slashes again!

Attack roll: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
Damage roll: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

Voren: Voren is Blinded by the spell, forcing a Concentration check to keep the spell DC18.

Concentration DC 18: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26

Voren shrieks as his sight is removed from him. But, his concentration allows the spell to go off without a hitch.

Jokum chuckles deeply as he sees Arthas's sword strike true. So this one is more than just words. Good! He swings the ranseur around again, driving the point toward their foe. "Surrender, you fool!"

Am I correct that there's no room to flank this jerk?

Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
Damage: 2d4 + 4 ⇒ (2, 1) + 4 = 7

Round 2___________________

Arthas Sword of Ragathiel_______
"This is the sword you sought to corrupt fiend, but General Veangeance has formed it in the image of his own blade."
Faxon’s eyes get wide. “Radiance! But how?” before Arthas’ critical hit knocks him back into a bookcase in a spray of fiendish blood.

Voren the Outsider__________
The enemy tiefling's spell hits Voren.
Voren shrieks as his sight is removed from him. But, his concentration allows the spell to go off without a hitch.
The Celestial Eagle appears! Heeding its master's commands, the eagle flies off and attacks Faxo, ripping at it with its beak and talons, all the while glowing a faint blue.
But it missed and circled back to the middle of the room.

Voren:
You hear the shouts and clash of arms upstairs. You can feel the vibrations of heavy footsteps starting down the staircase above you.

Karthak Ironbreaker_________
As Arthas strikes, Karthak advances on the tiefling and slashes again! But he missed.

Jokum of the Breakbones______
He swings the ranseur around again, driving the point toward their foe. "Surrender, you fool!" But he missed.

Jokum wrote:
Am I correct that there's no room to flank this jerk?

You are correct, there is not.

Enemies___________

Faxon_________
After waiving off the eagle, Faxon spit out some blood and glared at Arthas.
”Radiance! I should have eliminated those cave fools when I had the chance! Their treachery will be punished.”
His eye fell on Karthak, ”To work then. The dwarf will do as an appetizer.”
Stepping up, he reached out and touched Karthak and spoke a vile word. Touch: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14 He touches the dwarf easily, and Karthak feels the vile Curse of Baphomet stealing the strength from his limbs.
Bestow Curse; -6 to Strength: Save Will DC18 to negate.

Arthas lets the room fill with the swords light.

Voren hears the commotion from upstairs. He blindly stumbles forward based on what he last saw. Moving 15 feet away from the stairs. "Guys! The cultists from upstairs are coming! We need to intercept!"

He calls out to his summon. "Mon ami! Envolez-vous vers les escaliers! Intercepter les hommes descendre!"

Celestial:
"My friend! Fly to the stairs! Intercept the men coming down!"

The eagle flies to the stairs and lies in wait for the first one to come down.

Move Action: Fly over to the stairs.
Ready Action: When the first cultist comes down the stairs, the eagle will attack with its talons and beak. The eagle will also use its smite evil ability.

Attack: Bite: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Attack: Talon: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

Damage: Talon: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4 +1 if target is evil
Damage: Talon: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5 +1 if target is evil

Wow. My eagle can't hit anything.

Camris, can I get a quick rule clarification? Depending on the answer, I'll add to my move. Do I need to need to see to affect an enemy with a hex?

I'd say yes, you need to see to affect someone with a hex.

Round 3___________________

Arthas Sword of Ragathiel______
Arthas lets the room fill with the swords light. But Faxon managed to parry it.

Karthak Ironbreaker_____
Karthak easily shrugs off Faxon's spell and counterattacks: But nearly loses his grip on his weapon as he missed Faxon horribly.

Voren the Outsider_____
Moving 15 feet away from the stairs. "Guys! The cultists from upstairs are coming! We need to intercept!"
The eagle flies to the stairs and lies in wait for the first one to come down.
But he cannot hit anything.

Jokum of the Breakbones________
Jokum snarls and, switching tactics, attempts to divest Faxon of the spiked club he carries. But fails.

Enemies________________
As the cultists stumbled down the stairs, Faxon called out.
”One of you take care of the healer! The rest of you take the intruders in the rear!”
Cultist 1 attacks the eagle 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22 for a possible 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6 slashing damage.
Cultist 2 attacks the eagle 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6 for a possible 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10 slashing damage.
...Fumble confirm?: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12 Confirmed! His weapon slipped from his hands and he spends the round recovering it.
Thus making him eligable for an Attack of Opportunity from your allies.
Faxon himself seemed to be satisfied at a more defensive posture.
Until he unloaded a quickened Burning Hands on you all. Jokum, Karthak and Arthas take 5d4 ⇒ (2, 4, 3, 1, 1) = 11 fire damage, Reflex save DC16 for half.

TACTICAL OVERVIEW

Male Tiefling Hedge Witch 6/Archmage 1 | AC 15/12/13 | hp: 40/51 | F +5, R +6, W +8 (+2 vs death/insanity/confusion) | CMD 15 (17 with m.o.v) | Init +6 | Perc +1 | darkvision 60ft | SM +1 | receiving healing: +2 hit points/die rolled | giving healing: +1 point

Camris, I have to ask; how does Faxon know that Voren is a healer? Voren hasn't cast any healing spells yet. Also, the eagle died with the first cultist's attack. I'll get my official post in tomorrow.

Male Dwarf Inquisitor 06 Guardian 01 HP 71/71 | AC 21 (23) T 12 FF 20 (22) | CMB +9 CMD 12 | F+10 R+5 W+10 | Init +4 | Perc +12

Does Karthak's last action count or can he roll anew?

Pld7/Grd1 LG, Init +3; HP 95/108 AC 23, t 13, ff 21, Fort +9, Ref +7, Will +8 +2 on saves against insanity or confusion.hard to kill; Immune disease, fear, Senses +6, SM +8 Aura courage (10 ft.)

Reflex Save: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22

"Behold, Ragathiel shilds me with his wings fiend. Your flames cannot hold purchase on me."

Arthas tries to connect with Flaxon, praying quietly for strength.

1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 5 + 2 = 20

1d10 + 4 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 4 + 3 = 16

Voren: Strictly speaking Faxon doesn't KNOW Voren is a healer, but by hanging back and casting Voren is a high value target. Perhaps he should have said 'Caster' instead, but that would not have changed his order to attack you.
Karthak: I discarded your last action as a duplication. You can act anew this round.

Male Dwarf Inquisitor 06 Guardian 01 HP 71/71 | AC 21 (23) T 12 FF 20 (22) | CMB +9 CMD 12 | F+10 R+5 W+10 | Init +4 | Perc +12

I'm undecided between activating judgement or not. This seems pretty minor and Karthak can only use 1 Judgement per day but our horrible rolls may need all the help they can get so, what do you think?

Male Aasimar Ranger (Shapeshifter) 6/Champion 1;
Stats:
HP 21/63 | AC/T/FF: 18/13/15 | CMD 23 | F +7, R +8, W +3 (+2 vs. evil) | Init +3, Per +10 | Shifter's Blessing Left: 3/7 | MP: 3/5

Not sure it is minor...we are (theoretically) taking down a pretty big bad guy here...I'm going to blow my once/day ability.

Reflex DC 16: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12

Jokum bellows in pain as the flames wash over him, causing a red haze over his vision. As he hears the cultists pile down the stairs, Jokum blinks the pain away and feels something rising in his chest...something that's not familiar, but not new.

Oh. Oh.

As the cultists reach the ground floor and Arthas strikes Faxon with Ragathiel, Jokum lets loose an inhuman bellow. His muscles bulge, his eyes narrow, and his teeth sharpen. The huge man drops the ranseur he's holding and, lunging across the room, snarls to Karthak and Arthas, "I'll deal with the meat!" His greatsword flashes out of his back as he moves and plows into the nearest cultist.

Charging attack on cultist 2: 1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 8 + 2 = 26
Damage: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 3) + 6 = 10

Shifter's blessing: 1/4 rounds.

Male Tiefling Hedge Witch 6/Archmage 1 | AC 15/12/13 | hp: 40/51 | F +5, R +6, W +8 (+2 vs death/insanity/confusion) | CMD 15 (17 with m.o.v) | Init +6 | Perc +1 | darkvision 60ft | SM +1 | receiving healing: +2 hit points/die rolled | giving healing: +1 point

The eagle cries out as the cultist makes his mark. It falls to the ground and fades.

Voren still has trouble with his sight. He can't see and he doesn't know what's happening. The sound of swords swinging, fire burning, screaming, yelling. It unnerves him...

Almost on instinct, Voren's tail pops out of the back of his robes. It's a long and barbed thing, with hints of scales. Quickly, it moves to his belt pouch, wraps around the hilt of his cold iron dagger, draws it, and places it in his hand. Focusing on the weapon in his hand, he focuses intently on the dagger. It draws in some mysterious dark power. The witch tries to channel it, mesmerized by the power that feels second nature to him. When he finishes, he gives a yell and releases the darkness. The room darkens 20 feet from the dagger.

Swift Action: Use prehensile tail to draw the cold iron dagger.
Standard Action: Use darkness spell like ability with the dagger as the target. Link has information on spell (range, effect, etc.). The CL is 3rd. Duration is 1 min/level. For Voren, it would be 3 minutes. So, how many rounds is that?

Male Dwarf Inquisitor 06 Guardian 01 HP 71/71 | AC 21 (23) T 12 FF 20 (22) | CMB +9 CMD 12 | F+10 R+5 W+10 | Init +4 | Perc +12

Burning hands is an invocation, right? If so Karthak gets a +1 tp saves against it

Reflex save roll: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 4 + 1 = 12

edit: ouch!

Smoldering from the magical assault just sustained Karthak swings with all his might aiming for Faxon's head:"Die already, servant of chaos!"

Attack roll: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
Damage roll: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

Round 4___________________

Arthas Sword of Ragathiel_____
Arthas tries to connect with Flaxon, praying quietly for strength.

And connects again, jolting his target with Radiance. Faxon’s wounds seem to be smoking.

Jokum of the Breakbones_____
Jokum bellows in pain as the flames wash over him, causing a red haze over his vision.
And he hacks down the first cultist he meets, Red 2.

Voren the Outsider_____
The eagle cries out as the cultist makes his mark. It falls to the ground and fades.
That will be 30 rounds.

Karthak Ironbreaker_____
Smoldering from the magical assault just sustained Karthak swings with all his might aiming for Faxon's head:"Die already, servant of chaos!"
He manages to connect, but doesn’t do very much damage.

Enemies__________
Cultist 1 attacks Voren 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7 for a possible 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7 slashing damage.
Cultist 3 attacks Jokum 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18 for a possible 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11 slashing damage.
Cultist 4 attacks Jokum 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23 for a possible 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11 slashing damage.
Cultist 5 attacks Voren 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8 for a possible 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8 slashing damage.
Faxon reaches out and touches Karthak with a glowing red hand.

Spellcraft DC13:
It’s a Vampiric Touch.

Touch attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18 Touch! Karthak feels 3d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 4) = 7 damage sear through his flesh, and Faxon's injuries seem to be healing at an equal rate.

I forgot to mention, Camris. There is concealment to deal with. All creatures gain total concealment (50% miss chance) in darkness. Creatures with darkvision can see in an area of dim light or darkness without penalty. Nonmagical sources of light, such as torches and lanterns, do not increase the light level in an area of darkness. Magical light sources only increase the light level in an area if they are of a higher spell level than darkness. So, anyone attacking in darkness have a 50% miss chance. So this is a roll to be made when one of the enemies without darkvision attacks someone.

Despite Voren's blindness, he is able to dodge the attacks of the two cultists. He steps back, putting a little distance between himself and the cultists. He once again gestures, focusing one the spell.

No Action: Take 5 foot step back.
Standard Action: Casting Summon Monster 1 to summon a celestial eagle. Takes one round to cast. When activated, the eagle will stay for 3 rounds. Statblock on the last page.

In the air, the wind amasses together until another celestial eagle appears, giving a powerful screech. Voren yells, "Attaquer l'homme en face de moi!"

Celestial:
"Attack the man in front of me!"

Heeding the orders, the new eagle dive-bombs on the cultist.

The eagle will attack cultist 5. It will also use its smite evil ability. It has darkvision, so no miss chance.

Karthak Ironbreaker
…but shouldn't we get attacks of opportunity against Faxon since he cast a spell while on a threatened square?
He cast defensively vs DC21, and I rolled on my desk to save time. He succeeded.

Despite the injuries Karthak attacks again trying to crush the cultist leader's skull to bits!
He again makes contact, but only grazes him for light damage.

Arthas Sword of Ragathiel_____
Quick action Healing Surge/lay hands on self: 1d6 ⇒ 3
The paladin tries to finish the fight once more bringing Radiance to bear.
[ooc]But Faxon bats his swing away contemptuously.

Voren the Outsider_____
Re: Darkness. The light level started at normal, so your Darkness spell lowered it to Dim/Shadowy. The Concealment therefore is only 20% miss chance. It’s good for you to remind me though, since I find myself continually forgetting to apply the miss chance.
Move Action: Take 5 foot step back.
Standard Action: Casting Summon Monster 1 to summon a celestial eagle. Takes one round to cast.
The eagle will attack cultist 5. It will also use its smite evil ability. It has darkvision, so no miss chance.
It hits, misses and hits again, thouroughly killing Red 5.

Enemies__________

Cultist 1 attacks the Celestial Eagle 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13 for a possible 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8 slashing damage. Miss chance 20%: 1d100 ⇒ 9Auto Miss.

Faxon grins. "Once the dwarf goes down, you will make a fine sacrifice Crusader." He glares at Karthak.
He uses Hex: Misfortune on Karthak. He'll have to make two rolls to do anything and take the worse one. Will save DC17 to negate.

Voren hears the body fall to the ground, figuring that the cultist is dead. He hears the eagle screech and a blade swing by through the air. He sighs in relief that his summon still lives (he assumes). The tiefling calls out, "Attaquer l'autre sectaire plus proche de moi!"

Celestial:
"Attack the other cultist closest to me!"

The eagle wheels around and attacks the next cultist, dive-bombing the enemy.

Full Round Action: Celestial eagle will attack cultist 1 with a full attack.

Male Dwarf Inquisitor 06 Guardian 01 HP 71/71 | AC 21 (23) T 12 FF 20 (22) | CMB +9 CMD 12 | F+10 R+5 W+10 | Init +4 | Perc +12

Being a Spellbreaker Karthak has the following ability:

Strong-Willed:
At 1st level, a Spellbreaker is able to stand strong against magical effects that seek to control, compel, or persuade her. The Spellbreaker rolls twice and takes the best result when making a Will saving throw against a mind-affecting effect.

This ability replaces monster lore

So... how does that interact with the misfortune hex?

EDIT: Also note Karthak has

Foil Casting:
At 3rd level, when an opponent tries to cast an arcane spell within a Spellbreaker’s threatened area, the DC for that caster to cast defensively increases by 2. This increase stacks with the effects of the Disruptive feat. Furthermore, the Spellbreaker knows where to hit foes to foil casting from a distance. Each time she hits an arcane spellcaster or a creature that uses spell-like abilities with a ranged weapon attack, the DC of any Concentration checks the caster makes increases by 2 for 1 round.

This ability replaces solo tactics.

So he actually increases the difficulty to cast defensively by 2

"No, it is you who is the sacrifice! You have lost your very soul and I will send you on to your just reward!"

Arthas takes a mighty swing with Radiance.

1d20 + 5 - 1 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 5 - 1 + 2 = 21
1d10 + 4 + 3 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 4 + 3 + 3 = 15

Arthas' stroke slashed through Faxon's fingers, his buckler and his chest. Blood fountained into the air as the tiefling witch fell forward onto his desk, his face in a rictus of surprise.

I guess Karthak doesn't get 2 will saves against Hex? I'll roll once, let me know if I can reroll (if needed)

Will save: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25

As the tiefling falls Karthak immediately turns towards the remaining sultists swinging his warhammer:

Attack roll: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21

Damage roll: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

Sorry Karthak, your question had me flummoxed for a while. I would judge that your Strong-Willed ability would give you the +2 on saves vs a Will-save hex.
As for your ability to roll twice and take the best vs Misfortune's making you roll twice and take the worse, I say they cancel out; that is to say you just roll once.

ok then, thank you for your ruling

Sorry for the delay; had a crazy weekend (I got stuck in another state after what was supposed to be a quick jaunt to visit a friend went awry). Hoping we don't have to retcon here, but those attacks from the cultists two rounds ago...actually drop me to -5 hit points. Nasty business! :(

Jokum, rage still glowing in his eyes, crumples to the ground under the cultists' terrified onslaught!

Constitution Save: 1d20 + 2 - 5 ⇒ (5) + 2 - 5 = 2

Ok, so now -6. Should I make another roll for this round?

"Vengeance has been taken. You time on this world is over. Enjoy burning torture at the hands of your masters for a thousand and one years in the Pits of Hell, traitor."

The paladin, with his eyes burning faith fueled fervor, turns towards the men on the stairs. Radiance glows with holy fire lighting the way for him.

"You are next heretics! You complicity with the Dark Powers has condemned your bodies and souls to suffer judgement in this world and the next!"

Arthas moves to Jokum and touches him.
Lay on Hands: 2d6 ⇒ (6, 2) = 8

Round 6___________________

Voren the Outsider_____
The eagle wheels around and attacks the next cultist, dive-bombing the enemy.
With a keening shriek (of celestial goodness!) the celestial eagle smote the cultist into little tiny blood soaked pieces.

Arthas Sword of Ragathiel_____
Arthas takes a mighty swing with Radiance.
Arthas' stroke slashed through Faxon's fingers, his buckler and his chest. Blood fountained into the air as the tiefling witch fell forward onto his desk, his face in a rictus of surprise.

Karthak Ironbreaker_____
As the tiefling falls Karthak immediately turns towards the remaining cultists swinging his warhammer:
Striding up to Red 3, Karthak connects with his hammer, but his target still lives.

Jokum of the Breakbones_____
Jokum, rage still glowing in his eyes, crumples to the ground under the cultists' terrified onslaught!

Arthas Sword of Ragathiel_____
The paladin, with his eyes burning faith fueled fervor, turns towards the men on the stairs. Radiance glows with holy fire lighting the way for him.
Arthas moves to Jokum and touches him.
Lay on Hands: 2d6 ⇒ (6, 2) = 8

Enemies__________
The cultists seem shocked at Faxon going down, but they still propel themselves at the heroes in a frenzy of hatred.
”Dieeeeeeeeeeee!”
Cultist 3 attacks Karthak 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20 for a possible 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9 slashing damage. Miss chance 20%: 1d100 ⇒ 82. Normal.
Cultist 4 attacks Jokum as he was standing up 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22 for a possible 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6 slashing damage. Miss chance 20%: 1d100 ⇒ 96. Normal.
"Blood and souls for our Lord Baphomet!" He crowed, standing over Jokum and brandishing his sword over Jokum's neck.

Lol. Down I go again.

Jokum gives a start and sucks in a huge lungful of air as Arthas touches him. He surges to his feet...

...and straight into a cultist's sword. "Motherf--!" The huge ranger collapses in a spray of blood.

Constitution Save, DC 10: 1d20 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (5) + 2 - 4 = 3

He lies on the floor, bleeding out.

Jokum can't catch a break. At -5.
