"Oh, now you are just being stubborn, just lie down now, and make no BONES about it!"

Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

Appario stifles a laugh. This is serious business.

Derek hits the skeleton square in the glowing gem on its forehead, causing it to shatter and the bones to fall apart in a heap at his feet.

NPC Will saves vs ghost sound (DC 13) (DM only):

Palaveen: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13
Dravano: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Vethamer: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
Rogue #1: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Rogue #2: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20
Rogue #3: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Tiefling: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10

Rogue #4: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10
Rogue #5: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

The steps of the Tieflings coming down the staircase slows to a stop as the sound of the skeletons continue, but then begin again. Theron sees a Tiefling coming slowly down the stairs, with a loaded crossbow in hand.

Up next: Theron's readied action.

Male Aasimar Druid 2

Theron roars at the Tiefling, attempting to spook him before he can get a shot off.

Intimidate: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11

Theron roars loudly, but isn't able to put as much effort into it as he had intended. The Tiefling pauses briefly at the foot of the stairs, then fires a shot at the big cat in front of him.

Tiefling initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13

Crossbow attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Crossbow damage: 1d8 ⇒ 3

Although the Tiefling appeared to have been unfazed by the cat's roar, it must still have startled him, as the bolt flies wildly into the wall behind Theron.

Current Initiative order:
23 - Semenya, Derek, Appario
14 - Theron
14 - Tieflings
9 - Eklektos

>>>Current Map<<<

Up next: Eklektos, then Semenya, Derek, and Appario.

Male Aasimar Druid 2

"You go ahead. I'll catch you up. A spear's better than thing." Eklektos drops the mace and moves to retrieve his dropped spear. O1 is the farthest I can get, I think.

Male Human (Taldan) Abadaran Militant 12

Appario smiles as the last wolf skeleton goes down, ever so happy, yet a bit worried about what further abominations lie ahead.

Appario will thank Eklektos for his thoughtfulness and double move to L12 and take a look at the new space.

Perception 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (12) - 1 = 11 in the room

Female Half-Orc Sorcerer, 7th (Brass Draconic Bloodline)

Semenya will continue withdrawing, and will say, via Message, "Company is following me. Find a tight space to fight them - but I'm nearly out of spells other than Acid Orb. Suggest we withdraw, I have three metal boxes that jingle on me."

Appario won't be able to see much unless he brings the pebble with light cast on it (currently dropped in F9). The small amount of light trickling down from behind the Tiefling in M14 isn't able to provide more than dim light to about as far as Theron; the rest of the large room is still dark.

Male Human (Taldan) Abadaran Militant 12

Appario whispers: "Ah darkness! My old archenemy, we meet again!"

Appario then curses.

Male Human (Azalanti) Hp: 96/110, AC: 30 Bard 8/Fighter 4

"When in doubt, charge, when in darkness, curse...or cast a light spell, haha."

Derek casts light on his buckler, then stuffs the mace in his belt and retrieves his rapier

Theron hears the door to the southwest open, then two new wolf skeletons come bounding towards him, both attempting to bite at his rear legs. Theron's hearing and sense of smell also tell him that several other creatures are coming through the door, and he can hear crossbows being loaded.

Appario can also see the wolf skeletons and hear the other creatures coming through the door, if he moved to L12 despite the light conditions.

Bite attack #1: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
Bite damage #1: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Bite attack #2: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
Bite damage #2: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

Both wolf skeletons hit the big cat, dealing a total of 6 damage.

Current Initiative order:
23 - Semenya, Derek, Appario
22 - Enemies to the southwest
14 - Theron
14 - Tieflings near Theron
9 - Eklektos

>>>Current Map<<<

Up next: Theron, then the Tieflings near Theron.

Male Human (Taldan) Abadaran Militant 12

While cursing all that is holy and unholy under the sun and especially cursing the great, omnipresent spirit that would unleash yet more hellwolves upon this party, Appario is ready to help Theron.

Male Human (Azalanti) Hp: 96/110, AC: 30 Bard 8/Fighter 4

"And lo and behold, the paladin quickly improvises a new battle strategy, he attempts to make the undead blush themselves to death, forgetting that they HAVE no blood. Full marks for effort however."

Male Aasimar Druid 2

Theron, realizing he is too hurt to deal with the skeletons, chooses to retreat, keeping a wary eye on the skeletons before turning to run. Withdraw and book it to E2.

The Tiefling edges forward to M13, spots Appario around the corner, then loads and shoots. The female Tiefling behind him comes down the stairs and moves to N12 before firing her loaded crossbow at Appario.

Crossbow attack #1: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10 (Appario gets +4 AC from cover against this attack)
Crossbow damage #1: 1d8 ⇒ 7

Crossbow attack #2: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
Crossbow damage #2: 1d8 ⇒ 6

Both attacks miss the armored and shielded knight.

Appario can take an AoO against the second Tiefling as she moves into position.

>>>Current Map<<<

Up next: Eklektos, then Semenya, Derek, and Appario.

Male Human (Taldan) Abadaran Militant 12

AoO against the streaking non-wolf.

"May my blade bite you deep."

1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18 to hit;
1d10 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6 damage.

Appario's blade strikes well, and it does cut deep. But not deep enough to drop the Tiefling.

Male Aasimar Druid 2

Eklektos cautiously moves past the spear to get a view of the corridor beyond, keeping a watch as he reaches down to pick up the spear. Move to R1 if it's safe, pick up spear, and keep an eye on the corridor as a precaution. Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (19) + 10 = 29

Male Human (Taldan) Abadaran Militant 12

Happy that the blade hit the tiefling, Appario tries his blade on the wolf in M11.

1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23 to hit;
1d10 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11 damage.

Appario will then 5' step to K11.

I came here to help the kitty...now I'm the one who gets caught holding the bag of the curious cat?

The corridor appears safe, however Eklektos hears something unexpected. He can hear a conversation that appears to be coming from the other side of the stone wall, even though the thickness of the wall should be blocking the sound, as well as the sound of someone moaning. Taking a closer look, Eklektos can just see a thin door-sized outline at one point in the wall (at R5).

One voice can be heard first. "This is a disaster. The Council will never accept me as a full member if I can't even keep my own hideout safe."

Another answers. "We've got them now though; The skeletons have got them running, and the thieves and the digger will take care of any that linger."

The original voice responds. "Yes, but for how long? They'll be back, and we have lost many today. I fear we will all have to fight to the death if we're to have a chance when they return."

The moaning stops briefly, and a third voice, sounding pained, pipes up. "When are you going to heal my wounds?"

The first voice snaps. "Be still! I can't expend my resources on you when they may yet be needed elsewhere. You'll live a while longer on your own."

Appario's blade again strikes well, and wolf bones shatter. However, unyielding to what should be a lethal blow, the wolf skeleton still stands.

Appario again curses the omnipotent being that would deign to send yet more devildogs against us.

"By Abadar's Scales!"

;)

The omnipotent being points out that Appario could have followed Theron's lead :)

Male Aasimar Druid 2

Curiosity nearly killed the cat. This cat isn't making that mistake again this quickly. The owner might, though. :)

Eklektos whispers into the message, "There appears to be a hidden door back this way. At least three people, one possibly the leader, one definitely injured. They're concerned about their chances. Do we let them regroup?"

Male Human (Azalanti) Hp: 96/110, AC: 30 Bard 8/Fighter 4

"WE need to regroup before we tackle them, and Appario is still battling, he needs to fall back so we can aid him...he is such a diva, always trying to upstage me, tsk tsk."

Female Half-Orc Sorcerer, 7th (Brass Draconic Bloodline)

"Make a note of where that door probably is. I don't know that we can take them at the moment. Which side of the corridor is that door on?"

She moves to G6 to be able to coordinate both groups. "Appario, please feel free to fall back whenever you get the chance. If you think we can capture the leader here, I'm willing to support a plan."

Male Human (Taldan) Abadaran Militant 12

Appario whispers back, "Sure, Semenya. I'll just ask these nice goggies and two hellborn fellows to stay here. Should they not listen to me and decide to follow, how about setting up a welcoming party?"

Note to self: remind me to have words with that cat about re-burying the things it digs up.

Male Human (Azalanti) Hp: 96/110, AC: 30 Bard 8/Fighter 4

"And the Paladin reveals his role in the party as...dun dun duuuun, the deadpan snarker! All good rag-tag groups of adventurers needs one."

Male Aasimar Druid 2

"Retreat it is. I should be there soon, and I should be able to find the door again. Where'd Theron get to?"

The two wolf skeletons attempt to make a snack out of Appario. Then, a big, bulky Tiefling with claws on both hands comes lumbering forward to take a swipe at him.

Bite attack #1: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (12) - 2 = 10 (-4 attack/AC for fighting from a cramped space)
Bite damage #1: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

Bite attack #2: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
Bite damage #2: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7

Claw attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
Claw damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

Appario catches one of the bites on his shield, while the other snaps the wall in front of him, but the big Tiefling's claw hits for 5 damage.

The two other Tieflings both reload their crossbows and move to positions out of the dim light.

>>>Current Map<<<

Up next: Theron, then Eklektos, then Semenya, Derek, and Appario.

Male Human (Taldan) Abadaran Militant 12

Sheesh, them tieflings grow big in the darkness.

DM Are would square G7 be squeezing for me if I moved there?

No, G7 is fine as a regular square. I've been adjucating that if less than half of the square is visible it counts as a cramped space, while otherwise it counts as a normal square (and if less than 1/4 of the space is visible, then it wouldn't be possible to move into for a medium creature).

Male Human (Taldan) Abadaran Militant 12

Appario wonders where that kitty is going. *bump*

Male Aasimar Druid 2

That kitty is trying to expedite this whole retreating process and scoot out of the tunnels. :)

Theron moves back toward Semenya and Derek growling, frustrated at their lack of consistency regarding it being time to leave. Cat to F5, hold standard action to act based on what they do.

Eklektos does his best to hustle back toward the group. Druid to H3.

Male Human (Taldan) Abadaran Militant 12

Appario will withdraw, first 5' to J10, then move to G7.

"We will have friends here shortly, make ready your maces!"

You're all in a nice little bunch now :)

>>>Current Map<<<

Up next: Semenya and Derek, then the enemies.

Male Human (Azalanti) Hp: 96/110, AC: 30 Bard 8/Fighter 4

Derek switches out his rapier for the mace once more, then he readies himself for company or as he likes to call it, the "audience".

Ready vs. approach.

"Insistent are they not? But I guess it's our own fault for not charging admission."

Female Half-Orc Sorcerer, 7th (Brass Draconic Bloodline)

Semenya will prep Acid Orb and hold her action for any tiefling or Skeletal Wolf that comes forward.

"We withdraw if they don't come. If they come, focus on any of them that seem to be leaders."

The two wolf skeletons come up on fast-moving skeletal feet, one going after Derek and one after Appario. The big Tiefling comes lumbering after them, but he's moving much slower and doesn't get close enough to attack.

Bite vs Derek: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
Bite damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6

Bite vs Appario: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
Bite damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

Both bites miss their targets.

>>>Current Map<<<

Up next: Theron's held action, Derek's readied action, Semenya's readied action. Then regular actions from all the PCs.

Male Aasimar Druid 2

Theron springs forward, latching onto the skeleton with teeth and claws.

Grapple Attempt: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16.
Not sure if he'd have to shift after the attack for occupying an occupied square.

Skeleton AoO vs Theron: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
AoO damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6

The wolf skeleton attempts to take advantage of Theron's briefly exposed flank, but is instead pummeled by the big cat as the two creatures are locked together.

Theron can't be in an occupied square, so he'll have to be in E7 unless Derek or Semenya use their 5-ft steps as part of their readied actions.

Female Half-Orc Sorcerer, 7th (Brass Draconic Bloodline)

Semenya will cast Acid Orb against the skeleton-wolf in F7, and swap places with Theron. Through the Message cantrip, "Appario, kill the tiefling as quickly as you can get to him."

1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23 Ranged Touch attack.
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7 Crit Confirm - Nope.
1d3 ⇒ 2 1d3 Damage Acid

The acid sizzles and burns on the skeleton's bones, leaving small pits and holes in several places.

Semenya now in G5, Theron in G6. Theron and the skeleton in F7 have the grappled condition. The skeleton in F8 has cover from attacks from Appario's current location (+4 AC). Both skeletons are damaged.

Up next: Derek's readied action, then all of the PCs (including Theron) get their regular actions for the round.

Male Human (Azalanti) Hp: 96/110, AC: 30 Bard 8/Fighter 4

Derek strikes out at the skeleton as it approaches.
Attack:
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

The attack is woefully inaccurate and Derek smirks.
"I blame the drink...I clearly have not had enough today."

On his turn he once more strikes out, this time more defensively.
Attack using combat expertise:1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6

Does Derek's second strike attempt to hit the skeleton Theron is grappling, or the other skeleton? The latter requires a 5-foot step to E7.

Male Human (Azalanti) Hp: 96/110, AC: 30 Bard 8/Fighter 4

Hmm, probably the grappled one, might be easier.

Derek's defensively minded strike hits the skeleton locked in Theron's grip, crushing several of the largest bones in its body. Despite the extensive damage, the skeleton's body somehow still holds together.

Up next: Eklektos, Theron, Semenya, Appario.

Female Half-Orc Sorcerer, 7th (Brass Draconic Bloodline)

Semenya is going to hold her action to cast Acid Orb on the Tiefling if he tries to cast something or make a spell like ability effort.

Male Aasimar Druid 2

Theron continues to grapple the big skeleton, pinning it to the ground with his greater mass.

Maintain Grapple: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19, possibly with an additional +5 for 24 (not sure if the subsequent rounds bonus applies yet).
Skeleton is Pinned (-4 AC, flat-footed). Theron loses Dex to AC, for AC 12.

Eklektos moves into the vacant space near the others, casting a flame spell as he gets there in preparation to trying to burn the skeletons.

Move to F5 (unoccupied?), then cast Produce Flame for future use in the handful of fire toss function.
