"I distrust this method of travel. It's bad enough to use words and finger dancing to send a man thousands of miles. I will have Widowmaker out when we do this. But after a sleep I am ready.
So to recap we are following the trail of a now rescued Pathfinder. She doesn't remember what happened, but the trail led here. These crystals have the ability to send us to an ever more mysterious location. There we are to find out what happened and take notes along the way. Yes?

Dora will ensure she and Boots are healed.
"Juliver, girl friend, we may never know what really happened to you, but at least we are confident this den of evil has been eliminated. If the blue stones lead us to others, we will root them out as well. I promise!"
The young woman holds back ears for a moment, but finds strength from your words and resolves herself to keep fighting. "It's not for me. I just need to find Eando and the rest of our team. I think, he feels like something dark is rising. Not just whatever that serpent-liche thing was we encountered, but something more. I don't know, but he is worried."
Just a head's up, you are not teleporting right now, you only have the crystals, which act as a key of some sort perhaps, but not the portal(s) to use them. Essentially the trail is dead, for now.
Upon returning to the lodge, or really what passes for one here, is still mainly vacant. The mages you had encountered earlier remain, likely the Venture Captains, or ranking agents, although the place is not really designed the it would hold many permanent residence.
They offer you a place to sleep and recuperate, resupply a bit, and of course ask you details of what you found. Throughout your reporting, one of them takes careful notes, often asking you questions along the way for exact descriptions.
Afterwards, unsure what the next step is, they offer a few suggestions, utilizing a crude map to help illustrate. <See Slide 2>
"From what reports we had received, Agent Kline's team believed that there was some ancient, lost city beneath Saventh-Yhi. One even more ancient. The Society has had it's hand's full trying to stake a claim here in the ruins of Saventh-Yhi itself to follow up on these,. . . claims, and to be frank, no records we could find mentioned anything of note beneath."
"We simply do not have the resources to not claim what knowledge we can get before the Aspis or the Mantis fanatics make off with it to divert our efforts into what we assumed would be a simple mausoleum or sewer system. However, perhaps we where,. . . in error."
"When Juliver was first discovered, wandering about, it was around," she points to the map, (see green circle on slides), as she makes a circular motion indicating a very general area, and we where not certain what to think.
"You say that you just explored what I can only imagine was some sort of cistern, although it might have long ago dried up and been used for other things. Not long before you arrived," she stops, eyeing one of the other mages present who you assume doesn't put any stock in prophecy or fate, "there was an earthquake that wracked most of Garund. One of our agents claims to have seen some sort of structure opened up, or rather something beneath exposed after the recent earthquake."
The other mage's roll their eyes at the suggestion, but allow their comrade to continue. "If you believe that Juliver's group could still be found, it does coincide with where she had been found, and it wouldn't hurt to take a deeper look." she again points towards a small area on the map just north of where you had just been, <see the RED X on the map>.
At this point, I'm assuming everyone has had a day to rest, change spells, make any cheap purchases, etc. . . and is ready to die horribly and painfully in their next exploration.

Frag spends most of the debriefing paying as much attention to his fellow agents than the mission notes themselves. He does eye the map intently though, memorizing the twists and turns.
In the morning he sifts through the recovered gear, looking for anything of note worth taking.

Dora sighs in a daydream, still hoping she can meet the hunk Eando Kline.
Ah yes, we must not delay. The sooner we start looking at the last place Juliver was found, the more likely our chances of finding Eando...I mean Agent Kline.

![]() |

Jaggar spends the briefing drinking mead. "What was that last part... horrible death...? Oh I thought I heard something like that... must have been the voices in my head..." he comments after the briefing is over. "I dont think this will be as easy as what we did yesterday." he casually comments to his companions.

![]() |

"The only horrible death is an ignoble one. In this we have control. Our actions determine our nobility. If we act with a strong heart, we act nobly. If we act nobly, our deaths are also noble. If our deaths are noble, they are good."
Frag stares at Jaggar, "The quality of our deaths is ours alone to decide. Make it a good one and we shall dine in the afterlife."

![]() |

"I much prefer not dying at all, thanks," Rathen shakes his head at all the talk about death.
"Of course, I want to know what's on the other side of wherever those crystals take us. And I'm sure my gnomish friend is itching to find out." the Varisian says with a wink to Begus.
Ready to go. Going to assume once we're set that one of our casters will activate the crystal and teleport us to our doom? :)

![]() |

Frag laughs at Rathen, "If that be the case my friend your very last thought in this world is going to be much against your preferences!" He slaps Rathen on the shoulder with a good natured hit.
Ready

![]() |

"You keep jumping in front of that good death Fraggy... and I will drink in your memory whence you do find it... I prefer the smart living and bashing things in to ensure you stay upright... but to each his own.." Jaggar says slapping Frag on the shoulder in a friendly gesture...

![]() |

"Indeed friend Jaggar! Make no mistake, noble living requires fighting off death to the best of my ability. I shall not seek it!"

![]() |

Just to be clear, the strange crystals you found can not, as far as you know, teleport you anywhere. According to what you can get from Juliver, and the Pathfinder Society's cursory study, they seem to either be a sort of key that will activate a portal, or perhaps allow you to choose a destination from using a portal, but are not themselves the portal. It's also possible, that they have another function entirely in relation to the portal that Juliver spoke of.
A little bit of a recap, just so everyone is on the same page. The 10 have asked you to lend a hand in the recently discovered Saventh-Yhi, a ruined city within the Mwangi Expanse area that the Society is attempting to explore and report. However, (and this is not all that relevant right now), they are not at all the only groups interested in the site. The Aspis Consortium, the Mantis Assassin cult, a native tribe of intelligent gorillas, and the local Mwangi authorities all have interests in the location, and while not actively hostile, there is a certain degree of rivalry and espionage involved as each wants to claim the site, or something within the site as their exclusive sphere.
Upon your arrival, you travelled to the Pathfinder Lodge to check in, only to discover that they had just received a lost agent from one of their missing teams <Juliver>, and that she was afflicted with some sort of malady. It took a full Heal spell to cure her fractured mind, but her memory had not been completely restored. She explained that her team, under the leadership of the <to some scrumptious> Eando Kline, a Pathfinder of some fame.
She claims that her team had, begun to explore some strange underground facilities, believing that there might in fact be a lost city beneath this one. At one point, as far as she can honestly remember, they had discovered a room with crystals in the walls similar to the ones you just found, all around a some sort of magical doorway. She partially remembers Kline leading the group through this portal, causing a flash of light that seemed to shatter the crystals, and exiting into another underground area. There, they awoke some sort of Serpentfolk <what, they actually exist???> undead being, who cursed her <Feeblemind + strange black bold>. She is not sure how she escaped, but she believes that the Undead Serpentfolk had begun to awaken more of it's kind from some sort of magical sleep, and now they hunt her.
She can not recall details from around this time, but somehow she, and only she managed to escape back to the surface, and make her way back to the city, where luckily another Pathfidnder found her and brought her to the Lodge, <almost exactly when you happened to arrive, which was also almost exactly when there was some sort of massive earthquacke>. Once she was cured, she begged for you to help her find her missing team, and you followed her towards the are she believed was where she came out. It was suggested that you retrace her steps in hopes of discovering where she might have lost contact with her team. However, while you did find another strange vault, it seems to not have been the one she escaped, but, does at least suggest that Kline's idea that there was a secret hidden city beneath Saventh-Yhi might have some merit. BUT, now, your trail is cold. After exploring the strange location you just came from with the Orcus Zombie Cult and it's very own unique vampire, your trail had effectively run cold. That is, until the Pathfinder Society decided to focus on it's third major tenet and fed you some more information.
Update to follow

![]() |

Assuming you agree to continue to help Juliver and that the acting Pathfinder leadership's advice is sound, it only takes you a little over an hour to make your way across the ruined city after a hearty breakfast and prep time.
Utilizing your what you recall of the map, Juliver's directions, and some bits from the Pathfinder lodge they where able to tell you, your trip outside the city is rather quick before you begin to see signs of what you seek, what seems to be a small tunnel into something larger recently unearthed beneath the roots of a large tree. Vines and other jungle fauna still well conceal the tunnel, but because you know things to look for, it's not too terribly difficult to find. Unfortunately, though, Juliver does not seem to recognize it.
A tunnel has been dug into the side of the jungle-choked cliff here. Though the surrounding area has become overgrown and the opening is partially obscured by vines and creepers.
This vault, located in the overgrown residential district, partially caved in and was sealed off after the cataclysm of Earthfall. A natural spring within, however, allowed various forms of fungus and mold, including the midnight-spores, that same strange black mold canvas you had seen earlier, to propagate uninhibitedly. More recently, a local earthquake reopened the vault, exposing it to the outside for the first time in centuries.
A new map is up. Please place yourself on the board as you would like to advance towards your doom.

KULIK says little during the downtime, spending plenty of time in the company of Rathen and Begus. He stops to listen to Dora's stories and songs whenever she performs them; they make him feel inspired and capable.
He nods amiably enough to Frag when he sees the Absalomian, but is especially quiet around Jaggar, not grasping altogether the humorous nature of his fellow half-orc's jibe about his intellect and instead concluding that Jaggar is ashamed of KULIK's lack of eloquence. KULIK hates making others unhappy, and decides he will make Jaggar most pleased by keeping quiet.

The delving opens on a stone-walled chamber built as a hexagon, with wide tunnels exiting to the north and south. The floor is covered in drifts of dried plant matter. Stacked near one wall are three old wooden crates, their wooden planks riddled by worms and dry rot. It looks as though someone had cut back on the rampant fungal growth that had overtaken the room. Since then, the fungus in this chamber has largely died off, as exposure to the outside air has broken its fragile
ecosystem.
The crates are marked with Dwarven runes identifying them as the property of Eggra Kraggorach. The crates themselves hold only the rotten, useless remains of mundane supplies and foodstuffs.
The room beyond your current one is only partly illuminated from your current position. Every surface in this chamber is covered with some sort of mold, lichen, or fungal growth. Pale white tendrils of root-like
growths hang from the ceiling or lie on the floor, drawing nourishment from the matted compost there. Shelf fungi grow from the walls to prodigious size, and one variety of puffball fungus actually gives off a pale luminosity. The atmosphere is thick with the humid smells of rot and mold. Very strangely, not totally out of place, but not as similar to the other plants in the room are four very finely trimmed bushes, standing guard as one would expect a statue. Each topiary is shaped as a mighty lion, with thorny vines naturally interwoven through the wood and leaves, . . . as well as large black flakes of something organic.

Sadly, Boots' guarded attack just misses as he stumbles on the uneven ground, though Rathen has far, far more luck, with every single one of his strikes landing, sending sprays of twigs and severed leafs flying int he air as he wood chippers the beast with his small gladiator's sword.
Much to his surprise, each attack seems to cause him intense pain as well, as some of the thorns he hacks away seem to fly at and cling to his hands and arms, digging in deeply.

So, every natural attack, unarmed strike, or non-Reach Weapon attack will also harm the attacker. After the first time, you would sort of know something is wrong as your attack also hurts you. So, I am okay with Rathen (and anyone else later) holding back for alter attacks if they do not want to risk taking further damage. Just let me know, because this just became a lot more deadly.
The Lion Plant engaged with F*+ continues to try to force it's larger body on the warrior, both thrusting large thorns into his barbaric flesh and drawing both it's wooden claws across his chest. Rathen strikes hard, but finds the cost of continuing to be too much to risk, and pulls back. Dora steps in closer, unleashing a torrent of multicolored lights at the two southern Thorny Lions, neither of which seem to be affected by it's power. Bewildered, she draws her weapon and makes ready.
The slightly orange-tinted plant rushes past both Rathen and Dora, (provoking from both), and goes after Jaggar with it's fury, hoping for a quick meal, though just where it might keep that meal is unclear. Only a single claw lands though, doing little damage for it's effort.
