Katria knows that slime nagas are powerful spellcasters. They can also command oozes and spit entangling goo from their mouths. They resist acid.

"Continue on the path. You will find Clacosic before long," the voice tells Katria.

When Amelia threatens it, however, the voice lets out a dark chuckle. "Do as I have asked and all will be well. Refuse, and be assured you will find out exactly what I am capable of." The telepathic contact abruptly cuts off.

"I can prepare to interrupt the naga's casting or Dispel its magic. If its spells prove to be too powerful, I do have Antimagic Field as a last resort, although I know that would hinder Katria and Thanara as well as myself.
Still, we could make very good use of that spell with clever positioning and movement, and may eventually need it against our archmage chessmaster."

It provides an aura of protection around me. You and Katria step out of the aura to cast a spell at a foe, and I then move to cover you in its effect against any magical retaliation.

If we should need it, keep that tactic in mind."

"Antimagic seems to not be in my best interests. Frankly while my skill with a blade is commendable, I believe we would have issues piercing any armour it might have. That being said, if it must be done, I am ready to fight."

She wondered if her innate luck was magical, and thought less of it. If it was going to be in her favour, it would be.

Thanara appears shocked at Liam’s sudden venom! ”Such the gentleman…” she mutters so that only Amelia can hear as she passes by her.


he ramp of rubble is relatively easy to descend, and you find yourselves in a small complex of caverns. The caverns look relatively new, as if only recently carved from the foundations of the city. Several tunnels wind away. Trails of slime crisscross the caves, and the air is heavy and fetid.

Ahead, you can see a 15-foot-tall cavern filled with mats of ropy fungus, at the center of which lies a fungal node the size of a halfling that pulses like an evil heart.

Katria looks a bit stunned as the group suddenly begins bickering a bit, wondering if it's somehow the effect of the blight. She didn't think its telepathic communication could ... infect them ... but possibly.

"I typically don't rely as much on my magic in combat," she says, "but it could make things difficult in general. Still, it's good to have as a last resort. I can even create one myself if we need to. It would still let us use our magic equipment..." I have a globe of negation that just stops spell effects.

Later, she looks over the fungus, trying to identify it.

Amelia gives a chuckle to Thanara and a knowing smile.

"What on Golarion is this Katria?"


Katria doesn't recognize the fungal mass. But as she peers closely at it, she disbelieves the illusion cloaking the cave, and to her eyes, all of the fungus seems to disappear. In fact, the area is filled with 5-foot deep, fetid water, which emits a toxic, opaque gas that fills the area within 5 feet of the water.

Through the haze, she spots what appears to be a grotesque mass of sewage, but it betrays its true nature with dozens of red eyes and two long, slimy, claw-tipped tentacles. It is the blight! "Clever girl. But now you will all die," the telepathic voice proclaims.

Thanara may act! Katria identifies the creature as a sewer blight. It is an ooze that is immune to acid and has fast healing. It has a few spell-like abilities and can spray acid on those who strike it in melee.

The blight is 40 feet away and the gas gives it concealment. Anybody else getting within 20 feet of the ooze, must make a DC 18 Fortitude save against the poisonous gas at the end of their turn or take 1 Con drain.

Thanara focuses on the area Katria designates and suddenly can see through the illusion as well. Looking about at the rubble, she focuses her magic and several large chunks of debris float up and then with a thrust of her hand, go flying at the thing from various directions. A moment later, five orbs of arcane energy crackling with electricity also slam into the thing!

The rubble and magic missiles batter the blight, which shudders in pain. It sloshes forward through the water, its wounds beginning to heal. Stopping 15 feet away from your front lines, it reaches out to claw at Amelia!

I don't think I need to disbelieve at this point so...

The slam hits her hard but Koriana's Blade holds steadfast against the poisonous vapours.

"Yeah, might take you up on that."

She coughs and debates what to do, gripping the blade she moves away Provoking an attack but will try to Parry it, will increase my AC by 2 with Blessing of Fervor. She then swaps the blade for her old bow Standard to sheathe and I'll draw as a part of my Move.

Katria fires three crossbow bolts into the blight's quivering bulk! Liam tries to command the thing to halt, but it manages to resist! As he blesses the party with fervor, Amelia backs away from the ooze.

Amelia parries its claw attack and switches to her bow. Meanwhile, Thanara pummels the blight with more hurled rubble. The thing dodges her thundercloud's burst.

The blight's wounds heal slightly as it moves a bit closer and lunges at Liam!

Katria and Amelia festoon the sewer blight with crossbow bolts and arrows. Thanara batters it with magic missiles, but it avoids the lightning from her thundercloud again.

Badly wounded, the blight shifts from offense to defense, fighting with expertise instead of putting so much force behind its attacks. It claws at Liam, but his magic deflects its attacks back toward itself! Luckily for the blight, it doesn't hurt itself this time.

Thanara rolls her eyes. Not the most strategic bunch, are they?

Even so, even she knows to stick with the ones willing to take the hits for her. She tags along, a spell in mind and ready to use the moment their quarry comes into view...

Readied action to cast Wall of Force directly behind the bad guys the moment Thanara spots them, so that they can't retreat or possibly go get more help from that direction.


With Amelia's magic speeding you along, you race up the tunnel towards the sounds. Coming around a corner, you can see two creatures heading towards you. One is a serpentine creature dripping thick slime from its green scales. The second is an immense, three-eyed froglike creature with glowing red eyes. In place of arms, four huge tentacles thrash and writhe.

"Gah!" the slime naga shouts in surprise.

"Oh, a fiendish froghemoth," Katria calls out. Be careful it doesn't swallow you whole. Also, fire probably won't work, but electricity will!" She hopes everyone else remembers what she told them about slime nagas.

Katria zaps the froghemoth with a lightning bolt! While the energy doesn't seem to harm the creature, it does slow its movements significantly!

Although a froghemoth is immune to damage from electricity, whenever it would otherwise take such damage it is instead slowed for 1 round.

As Amelia grants herself freedom of movement, Liam calls a battle charge and rushes at the slime naga! His dagger bites deep into the creature's body.

"Ouch! Get in there, froggy!" Clacosic shouts, moving back a few feet from Liam and casting a spell, shooting fire at Liam. Both rays of flame miss!

Katria nods as Thanara takes over the lightning blasts, as using the wand against the froghemoth and not doing any damage seemed like a poor tradeoff for the powerful magic. She grabs a different wand with her free hand and sends three magic missiles toward the naga.

Thanara unleashes a fusillade of lightning bolts, frying Clacosic and slowing the froghemoth again! Katria batters the slime naga with magic missiles, then Amelia charges the naga and delivers a powerful blow, leaving him terribly wounded! Liam steps up and stabs the naga twice more, and Clacosic falls, bleeding out onto the tunnel floor!

Unable to grab its prey, the froghemoth slowly charges forward, stumbling up to Liam and snapping with its jaws! The cleric easily evades the attack!
