Also I'm new to play by post. Still figuring things out.
My default action is to either safely move (if possible) to any ally that's under attack and attack their target while protecting them with my saving shield and bodyguard feats, or if no allies are under attack, move to engage my enemies and prevent them from closing on my non-melee allies.

Gunnar and Zane, can I have you both get avatar pictures for your characters when you get a chance, (or link me to something I can use for your "mini" on a map). I have posted the introductory in the game Play Thread (which can now be seen at the top of the screen in the Gameplay Tab). I still need to prep a few things, and once I get that all taken care of I'll let everyone know and we can truly start.
For now, feel free to jump over to the Gameplay thread and introduce your characters, describe yourself, and interact a bit. That thread is designed for the actual game, while this one will be more for out-of-game talk, chatting, and things not related to what's going on in the game at the moment.

man, had I known that this was an oriental type adventure, I would have gone ninja.
hmm something to look forward to maybe... Maybe it will give me reason to stay to learn from some of these monks some ninjistu.
i will post a little later on today about the gameplay to intro myself.

man, had I known that this was an oriental type adventure, I would have gone ninja.
In many ways, all three parts of this are "the oriental" adventures. Monks and characters with mounts will do very well (later on) for these three. I'm not sure about ninja's honestly, if the special boons would apply.
So, if anyone wants to switch out characters, now is the time. That being said, all other classes will do fine, and have plenty of time to shine and should enjoy the game just like any other.

![]() |

hey I am cool with what I got, I am just thinking, I like to plan ahead, my I will go ahead and take a level of monk later on or convert who knows.. Is there something that I might be able to look at that is kind of like a players guide for this or no? I am not sure about PFS and how it works too well.

![]() |

Multiclassing works basically the same way as in any other game, except that after level 1 you will always get average HP (not rolled, and applies to everyone, not just multiclassing). It's assumed that an unspecified amount of time happens between scenarios, so you can train for your new class then, and as soon as you got 3 XP, level into Monk if you wanted.
<PFS xp works differently. You get 1 xp per game you succeed in, and level up every 3 XP, or ever after every third game>. Any time before playing as a 2nd level character, you can do a complete rebuild, (keeping your chronicle sheets & rewards, and you r PFS character number, but otherwise changing everything, including stats, race, class, etc. . .). Once you have played at 2nd level, though, any rebuilds cost you.

![]() |

Sure. I do not actually know if you will need Tien, (nothing is coming to mind), but the Cold Weather is fine. Alternatively, if someone has a Wand of Endure Elements (2PP) or some Survival, you should be ok.

![]() |

Ok, I have added the first map. You can find a link both at the top of the Screen, and it should also appear now under this avatar. The blacked out areas are things that you can (or will not be able to when it comes up) see yet.
Try it out and make sure that you can move your guy around.

![]() |

Can't give, but you can lend. Your first 150g can be respent when (if) you do a rebuild at level 2, so I'll just trade out one of my casks of mead for it I think, and buy more mead later.
I do appreciate the offer though.

![]() |

I'm good.
Yeah, map on the phone tends to be hard. I've tried it before. Just toss in a note for us to help you and someone will move you where you need to go.

![]() |

No problem. I sometimes have the same issue. Typically what I do is describe where I want to move, and then actually move later when I'm able. As long as it's pretty clear, there shouldn't be any issues.

I forgot that I am running for a lot of new players, or rather players that are new to me.
The Init scale I use is just meant to speed things up a bit.
Normally I'll post the Init, and have a Bolded Arrow pointing to the characters that are up, which I mean to indicate that those character can post actions and I'll integrate them into the right order. The next group can also get their actions ready, or post out of order if they like, just keep in mind that that can sometimes be confussing.
I try to, for each little portion of the combat, follow up with a brief description of what happen, and also to repost the init roster pretty often.
Right now we are at this part:
Surprize Round:
-> Zane, Snow Leopard
Generally, if there is a surprise round, I will also post the normal Init along with it, so that people have an idea what is to come, (and if I accidentally leave someone out, they can catch it). So once the Surprise Round above I over, we will move to the normal Init:
Init Round 1
Zane, Krumthi, & Vrockwing
--------------------------
Snow Leopard
--------------------------
Wyran, Gunnar, Aeden, & Torean
In which A.) Zane, Krumth, and Vrockwing will go first, followed by the B.) Snow Leopard, and finally, 3.) Wyran, Gunnar, Aeden, and Torean, who will finish the Round.
To speed things up a bit, I will generally roll Init, and occasionally roll other things for you, but for the most part, will have you roll it if I can. At any time, when you attempt an action, feel free to add in a roll that has not been called for. I'll either keep it, or ask for something else in it's place, and I try to be pretty easy going as far as what I'll allow if there's a good reason (besides "I have a +6 in that, but a -2 in the skill you asked for").
A little later, I'll try a different form of Init, and see which ne you guys/gals prefer. And if you ever have any questions, feel free to ask.

Got all my good rolls during the perception check/init now I have to suck equally bad during the actual attack. That all would have looked cool if any of it had actually hit. At least it would have been a miss without the -2, when that happens I always curse myself for not going with the single attack.
BTW is my posting format OK?
Also this is the init method I have seen common among pbp and likely how I would/will run it some day so it's good with me.

![]() |

Sure. You don't need to put all your info up if you don't want. I can see most of it under your name, and if you give a little description of what you are doing, we should all know. But there's nothing wrong with it either. <this is kind of for everyone>
One thing that will help later on into combats is if you post what round your action is, specially if you are posting your action a little out of order.

On his turn, A basic double move, drawing his weapon. Difficult terrain is hell on a dwarf...
That's why when I play Dwarves, I never move. I just pick up the planet, throw it on my back Atlas style, rotate it a tiny bit and then put it back down, because Dwarves never get reduced speed for encumbrance.

Man I keep getting high init rolls. Map is working fine for me right now. So vrock is swinging from the web, Krumthi is (assuming he doesn't fall) mid climb and the rest of us are standing on the ground? How high are each of them? Also do the rest of us have LOS on the creature? About all I can do at range is acid splash. I'm hesitant to climb without taking 10 but without LOS I'll have to risk it. If I can reach vrock I might try grabbing onto him and letting the creature do the work.

Aeden Don't take this as me hating your idea. I am offering my gaming Experience opinion. I think your Int is fine not all characters need to go first.I think high Int should be the concern of a rogue or ninja. As a fighting/magic class you can take the breathing of a standard bad guy and dish more than they can handle. Plus why waist a move...let them come to you. You could use your feat for improving your channels or attack/damage. Just an opinion

If you can see it (made the perception check), you have line of sight to it. They are just 10ft up, so a fall is not going to be too bad.

Anyone smelled burning feather and Krumthi before?

I find it a little hard to tell where I am, but the descriptions help!
Yah, I thought this map might be a problem. For the most part, the Side view map (on the right) tends to be a better representation for now. But they are both the same map, just different views. When I played it, we didn't use a map and it was confusing as heck. Hopefully, it will not last long, as all the others are much better.
