Of course her reading is too vague for me to gain any insight but she passes the "sniff" test. I am not too sure of these others though. Likely some pampered nobles using the Professor's funeral as an excuse to socialize away from their own little worlds.

"Been beat my whole life," Razvan snorts dismissively," not expecting that to change anytime soon."

Razvan sits silently as the women begin to chatter about themselves. Probably the result of too much drink but definitely dangerous with so many ears around. Razvan knew the smart play was to distance himself and slip back into the shadows. He also know that he couldn't leave lambs to the wolves. Razvan cursed himself for sitting at the Harrow table.

"Professor listened more than he talked. Guess he didn't like strangers knowin to much of his business. Smart man if ye ask me. He was always careful not knowin when someone might be about wishin harm on another. Once heard him comment that wine loosens the tongue and dulls the mind. Smart man."

"That may be...that may be, but the Professor certainly did not shy away from meeting strangers. I think the varied faces around the room are testaments to that. If he were in our situation, I think that his curiosity would have also drawn him to sit at the Harrow table."

"No one can be safe in these times, and if preservation of the body is not guaranteed, then one should try to preserve their minds. We musn't change because of these dreary times."

Tomnus eyes the room suspiciously but stays at his table and to himself. To those of you who take notice of him he seems to be something of a contradiction. He's dressed as a fighter would be, chain shirt and a large polearm, but he's reading an advanced mathematics text book and seems rather happy to be reading.

I swear that I've seen you around AOPS before :p

"I'm Alexana Wildchild, Professor Lorrimor would often employ my tribe when he needed someone to guide him to nearby ruins, I even went with him a few times." said the catfolk.

I must be cursed.

The dice on these boards really hate me, too. I wish I could use my gamescience dice.

Anselm nods at Jen and closes his eyes, remembering many years ago.

I met the Professor as a guide for field training and test for entering the Pathfinder Society, actually. As my studies of the ways of the Paladin neared completion, my mentor told me that Absalom had put out a call for Pathfinders. We set off to Absalom from Cheliax, and there we answered the call.

My initiation into the Pathfinder Society would be secured upon the successful completion of the excavation of a battle site in Lastwall. We were sent to recover certain artifacts of historical interest, particularly items employed by the Knights of Ozem. It was a mostly uneventful (for non-scholars, anyway) expedition, except for one night towards the end.

He pauses here, taking a breath to regain composure. That was 15 years ago, Anselm. You beat them. Besides, you've learned a lot since then. Taking a breath, he continues.

Apparently some of the artifacts we recovered had been cursed. By whom or by what, we're not sure—but there have been some theories. Anyway, one of the curses on the items activated when we removed them from their resting places, summoning the undead spirits of those who died in the battle. Again he pauses, his glance sweeping across the room. Has anyone here fought the undead? Not just with spells from thirty paces, but up close? I defended the Professor from those horrid abominations. The smell of rotting death was unbearable, for sure. But that wasn't the worst. They're cold, so cold. But the icy cold wasn't as bad as seeing maggots crawling through their eye sockets, their mouths. And insects of all kinds crawling about their bodies and what was left of their hair. The actual combat was simple enough, as they weren't particularly fast or cunning. But the sheer abomination of their existence rankled every part of me. You think you're capable of facing these things you've learned about in the Church... but no. No books or words can prepare you. And it doesn't get any better after the first time. Abominations unto the natural order, they are. Pharasma might be a dour diety, but her clergy are made of stern stuff to directly deal with such things. Anselm falls silent after this, and after a moment purchases a drink

Sczarni

Razvan takes advantage of the paladin's dramatic soliloquy and moves away from the group.

Fools! Do they think this is some traveling troupe's stage? Flaunting the Professor's business for all to hear! Who knows whose attention this will draw?

The hairs on Razvan's ears rise as the half-orc notices the wind has suddenly ceased its howling. Thin fingers of mist curl under the door like some spectral hand reaching into the room. A clash of thunder and flash of lightning cause more than one patron to issue a startled scream ending the surreal moment.

"Only the dead would be out on a night such as this,"Razvan whispers as the first drops of rain begin to fall against the windows. The half-orc rogue can't shake the feeling of being watched. For a brief moment, Razvan's chest tightens in a paralyzing fear. His neck flushes from the shame of being unnerved by a stormy night and a paladin's boastful tale of a likely exaggerated encounter with some zombie.

Perhaps I am on edge because of the Professor's death...

Actually, not much new in the last couple days, make sure I have everything as usual:

Soth-Loren Cleric Divine
Reginald Johnson Paladin Ranged Assault
Rautha Wizard Arcane
Libby Bard Skill
Adwa Witch Arcane
Iagon Rogue Skill
Kara SorcererArcane
Alexana Ranger Assault/skills
Anselm Paladin Assault
Tomnus Fighter Assault
Ama Monk Assault
Jen the Alchemist Alchemist Skill/Assault
Razvan Rogue Skill

Jen seems fine up until the description of the undead themselves, which causes her to go pale. She tries to keep her eyes on the paladin to be respectful, but the horrible torrent of memories forces her to shut them.

"I think...I think that I am glad that we have a strong paladin to protect us, but it is better to speak of more optimistic pursuits. It's nice, just to know that there are many other people that have shared in the experience of knowing Professor Lorrimor. In a way, that makes us tied together. I don't claim to speak for the Professor, but my guess is that he would've wanted us to look out for one another."

Planning on closing recruitment tomorrow, last call to apply.

I'm going to have to bow out of this since my character just got accepted into another game. Thanks for your consideration.

We really need a divine caster at this point. Good on everything else.

If you've already submitted someone, and want to alter/change it to fit the divine role please let me know before you do that. I have an OK idea of who I want, and i'd hate for you to change it now lol.

I could certainly redirect, if it would mean a better chance of getting into the game. I'd dig submitting an enlightened philosopher...exactly the opposite of Karzak...

Silver Crusade

You mean someone I'm not going to want to strangle in-character? Awesome!

Background: Iagon and I are in another PbP where he's playing a rather... impulsive... yeah, let's go with that... dwarf.

The one divine we had, pulled out, so if you made a half way decent divine at this point, you'd be golden lol.

Hmm mind if I submit a Cleric since my fighter got selected in another game. I wouldn't have a problem keeping up and it doesn't change your selection process since my other character is out.

I can have a cleric up later today if you don't mind waiting about 5ish hours.

I am interested in applying with an Oracle or Inquisitor, but I am new to Pathfinder, and know little about the setting (which is why I'm not sure which character idea would be better yet) so it would take me some time and may not be able to complete it today. It would be great if you could wait until tomorrow, but understand if you want to get things going.

Ha! Small community...sorry the net trick didn't work. The hammer will be better.

I'll begin revising Iagon to be scholarly and pious

I'm keep it open until tomorrow, probably noonish.

If your definition of divine is that it has healing, alchemist can do that. :p

Silver Crusade

Yeah! So can Paladins. And I don't mean the innuendo-laden one!

More 'divineness' will be appreciated :)

Sir Boranon Leifson was severely disfigured when he was a young man and he didn't adjust well at first. He went through quite a phase of anger and outrage over his plight and told his family that he wished he was dead. In response he was taken to a temple of Pharasma, perhaps as a visual way to scare to him. It had the opposite effect on him; he actually listened to one of the clerics as he spoke to some new acolytes. It became clear to Boranon that had Pharasma wanted him, he wouldn't be here now. It also occurred to him that he owed this God and the only way he could pay was with fresh souls.

The Hound of Pharasma

/Note: the whole process of submitting a character application is a little confusing for me. If what I have meets approval thus far, please let me know what else I am missing or need to provide.

A tall, brooding figure enters and secures a table for himself in the darkest corner of the room.

Druid or Cleric?

Are Half-Celestial or Half-Dragon accepted?

You know that those have level adjustments?

without spoiling, a cleric would gets lot of love :)

Aasimar is pretty close to half-celestial, and Nagaji close to half-dragon, no?

Didn't scrutinize at all, Looks ok.

Where/how did you get that character sheet?

If this is still open, I'm really interested in submitting a character or two.

I think you still have a few hours left.

Cool, then I'll consider that my app is "in".

/ about the sheet - I made it in Word 2010.

I can't help but feel like I'm auditioning for a play. Reminds me of drama society in high school. I never auditioned, but it was still such a tense time of year. Everyone wanted the decisions to come so they knew they had parts. Yet at the same time, that same group of people dreaded the decisions because it was just as possible one would be denied the part they really wanted. Upon some thought, I suppose this really is what we're doing, after a fashion. And in that vein I wish everyone the best of luck! :D

Leifson just stood there awhile, taking it all in...

At the bar, tired from the day's work, sat a laborer, enjoying what he could spare from his wages for a much-desired drink. One eyebrow was raised as many seemingly gathered to pay tribute to a seemingly great man. His homespun was dirty from the sweat and the smell of horseflesh was still on him. Curiously, he elbowed the one sitting next to him a little roughly, having had perhaps one cup or so more than he needed.

"Qui'e th'gathering s'goin'bout on this 'dark an'stormy night', eh?" His voice was a bit boisterous, and maybe a little louder than he intended, though he was trying to keep it as confidential as being ale-assisted could be.

@DM Ayrphish

Spoiler:
My apologies, but I'm going to change my charCter submission once again. I'd like to change him to a scroll scholar (cleric.). My BG will be much the same, with a few changes that I'll make when I get to work. This way, I'll be able to channel positive energy, something that may be useful in this AP.

Chances of Alexana: 1d100 ⇒ 1

Chances of Zander (with a background): 1d100 ⇒ 65

Quick background:

Zander was born from some Noble merchant man and an unnamed woman (who died at child-birth). Zander has always been surronded by strange happening and often attracted Undeads, even becoming one once or twice (thank having a dad rich enough to pay for true resurection); after a while, his father made contact with an old "friend", Professor Petros Lorrimor about all this. for the years that followed, Zander kept in touch with the professor about this "ghostly problem" while trying to learn/do his noble duties.

When he learned of the Professor's death, Zander ditched his noble attires and duties, booked some transportation and left for ravengro.

Suddenly the door opens, letting in a cold gust of wind and rain. At first glance, it seems the storm had thrown open the door, but then slowly a small silhouette appears. Stepping into the tavern light is a well dressed gnome with green hair, a short beard, a odd looking hat of Taldan style, and a Glavie strapped to his back.

Taking a moment to brush the rain from his hat and cape, the newcomer makes his way to the bar, grabbing an empty stool and calling out for a glass of wine.

"My dear barkeep, a glass of your best local wine."

Turning in his stool, Ipes surveys the room while slowly sipping his wine.

to no one in particular "A busy night, seems the storm has driven a full crowd to seek the warmth of this fine tavern and its drink"

Presenting Nalita Bakji Samsaran Cleric of Pharasma. Everything is in my profile. Sorry I didn't get this up yesterday like I said I would...she was a hard build. But now that I put all this work into her I am really hoping to get selected lol.

Role: Diviner

Nalita walks in and blends into a corner hoping people wouldn't notice her and her strange appearance. She takes a seat on a stool and quickly hides her face behind a book.

Appearance:
Aleta has a slight build, pale off-white skin and long silver billowing hair that seems to spiral in an everpresent breeze. She is clothed in simple clothing, all hazy fog grey in color. She wears sturdy boots, breechers, a flowing chemise, a rough white fur cloak and a silk veil. She has a sharp little blade strapped to her hip and shortbow slung over her shoulder. She could easily be mistaken for a ghostly spirit or wraith bride looking for revenge.
Backstory:
+
For your consideration...
Aleta Brumeveil, Wandering Apothecary

Aleta's past:

Years ago, Professor Petros Lorrimor sought out a nasty solution to an equally nasty problem he was having. He was in desperate need of a particularly virulent poison to prevent an army of dread vermin from overwhelming a small village. On a whim, the good Professor happened upon the shop of Aleta's employer Master łabędź Piosenka's apothecary, searching for just such a thing. In a flash of sudden insight, he requested that Aleta, not her master, craft the brew. His instincts paid off and the toxin was more potent than anyone could have imagined. He saw the young woman's shyness and naivety and knew what the horrors of Ustalav could do to harm to such a talented mind and took action. The Professor took her under his wing and taught her to steel her mind against the macabre and other unworldly terrors that haunt the dreams of men. She, in turn, crafted all matter of concoctions for him over the next few years whenever the need was called upon. Lorrimor finally left to continue his studies abroad but departed before Aleta could repay his last lesson.
Not long after he left, Aleta's master was found dead in the street, seemingly poisoned on his way home from the pub. In less than a day, suspicion led to rumor, rumor led to lies and soon the entire town blamed her fr her former master's untimely demise. Aleta swiftly gathered what supplies and belongings she could (including a good cache of the shop's more dire poisons) and faded into the mists during the night...before the church inquisitors could get their hands on her.

She spent the next few years as a wandering churgeon and sellbow. She only recently heard of the Professor's grizzly death, and makes all haste for Ravengro to wrench the answers from whomever knows the truth.

I am in the process of creating Ipes sheet, will be done shortly

Wow, this got really difficult to pick here at the end.

There are about 8 that I really like, and need to cut down to 4-5... At this point, I am not going to look at any new applicants (any after this post).

I will put up a list/roster of my picks here shortly. Thank you for all of your interest.

Sczarni

Razvan observes the sudden flurry of patrons entering the tavern. It is an odd collection to be sure. The first was a man whose smell of sweat and dirt gave testament to a day spent in hard labor. The laborer's blood shot eyes and slurred speech suggested that his current drink was not his first. Razvan tensed as the laborer jostled another patron knowing that it could easily lead to a melee on such an emotionally charged evening. The building tension was suddenly forgotten as the door slammed open. A gust of wind momentarily dimmed the candles. Someone rushed to close the door but stopped short as a garishly dressed gnome emerged from the gloomy night and made a boisterous entrance. The gnome enters shaking his soaked clothes and hat free of rain oblivious to the shower that he is unwittingly giving to the surrounding patrons. Some locals have a murderous look in their eyes. Violence was sure to ensure until the appearance of two women whose pale blue complexions caused many patrons to swear and cross themselves in vain attempts to ward off the malicious spirits. Most looked worriedly to the self proclaimed Paladin assuming that he would be the first to react if indeed the newcomers were spirits from the beyond.

Kara - arcane
Anselm - assault
Jen the Alchemist - assault and skills
Razvan - skills
Iagon - Divine

If you five would 'check in' in the discussion forum, we can go from there.

Also, big honorable mention, cause I loved the following: Adwa, Zander, Nalita, Ipes, and Aleta. If anyone drops or can't keep playing, I will let you know, and great job, I'm sorry I can't handle a party of 10 :(

Yay! Honorable mention!! Thanks for the opportunity. :)
