24 hour rule on Telias

Telias decides to use his club to attack the nearest mite, landing a heavy hit, but still doesn't manage to knock the mite down.

str check: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22

reflex save on grease: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20

The giant centipede breaks out of it's entanglement and makes it way to you, however the engangled area is still slowing it down. It seems to be able to squeeze itself into small compact spaces, reaching in to attack Jameson, but doesn't manage to land a hit.

attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8

Lucky I forgot about grease...

Male Human Bard 4

Sir Bronwyn gazes surprised at the gigantic creature, moving easily despite the many obstacles. He almost seems to disappear in the chaos of battle for the couple seconds he takes to inhale a lungful of air and prepare the shout:

"SHIELD WALL! Don't let it get to Carina! Lukan, you take right, I'll take James' left! SHIELDS UP!"

He strides to the thick of battle, his shield up while he mutters something behind its protection.

Web of a spider
bring this beast down
slow as a turtle
dumb as a clown

His hand reaches below the shield to hesitantly touch the creature's skin.

Free Action: Keep up Inspire Courage.
Swift Action: Arcane Strike feat (+1 damage).

Standard Action: Touch of Gracelessness spell cast defensively (+9 vs DC 17; 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27) on Centipede - 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11 against touch AC for 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4 penalty to Dexterity (half that on a successful Fortitude save DC 14) for 2 rounds.

Master of Gaming and Grognardia Current map

Sir Bronwyn manages to move over and touches one of the giant centipede's mandibles and the spell takes effect and it seems visably weakened by his attack, but not by as much as Sir Bronwyn hoped.

1d20 + 11 ⇒ (4) + 11 = 15

I messed up it seems and forgot Jameson had a redied action.

last round: Jameson swings at the mite that came into view, killing it instantly, another one bites the dust from the cold iron blade. Moved down below mites in iniative order due to redied action.

Lukan cuts down the Mite he comes across with a single blow of the hand-axe. The others seem a little scared however the giant centipede keeps them here and fighting.

Altered the area of the grease slightly as otherwise you'd grease up the area where Lukan is in and trip him up, which I assume isn't your intention :p

Carina uses her wand to grease the area which covers the area, but doesn't manage to trip up the mite.

1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17

Wands are base, unless otherwise noted. For example, the grease wand is base so the DC is 11 due to it being a 1st level spell and having an ability of 11 to be able to cast resulting only in a +1, however your wand of burning hands has CL2 which'll give it a higher DC and more dice to roll.

Mites

The mites begin to make their move

mite 1: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21

mite 2: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

mite 3: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13

Another mite moves onto the greased area and then falls prone and the other mite already in the area attempts to move out of the area, but falls to the ground too.

1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8

Jameson swings his blade at the creature, but doesn't manage to hack through it's thick hide.

Ganit once again strings his bow with an arrow which once again misses and fails to hit the creature he aimed for.

Sorry guys, was waiting for Sir Bronwyn and I give people slack for weekends as for some reason I was waiting for someone to post :p

The sacks that appear to have been stolen from the bandit camps are in the room you are currently in. They appear reletively undisturbed, however there is only 1 burlap sack. There is a map on the table, held down by a ivory statue of a demonic-looking creature. There is a crude map of the area with undercommon writing in charcoal.

Anyone with linguistics or undercommon?

Master of Gaming and Grognardia Current map

I think I'll wrap this up.

You manage to hunt down two of the fleeing mites and as you make oyu way outside you find that the final mite was killed by Jameson's horse. The Mite lair has been completely obliterated of all creatures.

The ivory statuette depicts a crouching horned devil. It is nonmagical, however it is worth 250 gp for how well it's crafted.

The paper that is weighed down by the statuette seems to be set up like some kind of war plan with writings in charcoal in Undercommon. The paper consists of two columns, but oyu can't make out the writing.

Linguistics DC 20 or Undercommon:

the paper consists of two columns, one labeled “Us” and one labeled “Them.” The “Us” column lists only two things: “kobold statue” and “lots of spears and coins.” The “Them” column lists “magic dust,” “lots of coins” and “shiny human ring.”

The sack sitting in the command post holds the following:

18 small spears

48 gp
180 sp
284 cp

"Mikmek no see ring. Mikmek's people stole sack." he points to the burlap sack that you guys now have. "Sootscales took sack. Mikmek can read map. Free Mikmek if he read map?" he asks as he clearly wants to get out of this cage.

"Negotiation might be preferrable ta more of dis." Telias says kicking aside a savaged mite corpse. Let's go ahead and get what loot they keep down here and get out of this place before it starts ta attract scavengers."[/b]

Lets let the poor Kobold out of his cage, but keep him bound until we know exactly whether he is one the level. And definitely, lets get out before we have not so mitey friends to fight.

"Telias, take Lukan and load whatever valuables you can carry outta this place. If we're to have a successful negotiation we'll need him elsewhere," though his words are intended for Telias, his eyes remained fixed on Lukan's.

Turning from the huddled group Ganit returns to the caged kobold and takes a knee, putting him at eye level. "The only way we're letting you out of this cage is if you lead us to the Sootscales. Translating the map will be your sign of dedication. Depending on how you handle yourself, that is to say if we feel we can trust you, you will remain unbound for the journey. Look around you. I hope you have the good sense to know we're more than capable of doing the same to your camp. We're going to need you take us inside if we're to avoid another slaughter." He pauses to gauge the reaction of the group and slowly resumes. "But know this, Mikmek. If at any point I feel that you're messing with us. Or planning some kind of ambush or any other bull****," he punches the bars of Mikmek's cage causing a frightful crash. "I'm gonna make what these mites did to you look like a tickle-party. You got me?"

Mikmek nods as he understands what Ganit said and doesn't dare to even look him in the eye.
"Me take you to Sootscales. He want see you too." he agress and once released from the cage he looks over the map and points out the different words:

He explains there are two columns, one marked "Us" and another marked "Them". Under "Us" is "Kobold Statue" and "Lots of spears and coins" whilst under the "Them" Column is "magic dust" and "shiney human ring".

He looks at the statue you have aquired then and looks back to the group.
"Need statue. Me Mission. Promise you many treasures if you give." he puts his hands out and goes on his knees begging. Clearly this statue is very important to him and the tribe.

We must talk with your leader before we can agree to anything. If your leader desires the statue, then we will require payment as we just fought and killed your archenemy mites and their pet bug to get this little statue.

BTW - I cast Detect Magic throughout the area to see if there is anything that we missed.

Yeah I assumed you did and there was nothing magic so I didn't mention anything. I usually assume whilst you all go searching you use detect magic just to make sure you don't miss any magic items or secret doors or something else that detect magic would show up.

Male Human Bard 4

"So, let me get this straight. These mite creatures stole the ring from the bandits, and then it got stolen from the mites by the kobolds. Is that it, Mikmek?"

The knight waits for the kobold to confirm, and asks:

"So, *many* treasures if we deliver the statue. If one of those many treasures is per chance this ring, we may have a deal, one good enough so my friend here can resist tickling you to death."

Afterwards, he sits with Ganit and the kobold to translate the map and make sense of their surroundings.

Mikmek nods in response to the question about the treasure. He points to what each word says again just to be clear.
"Ring treasure, but you kill blues." he expresses how grateful he is for the downfall of the mites. "You have ring, if you want ring."

To the group, away from the Kobold.

The real question here is what do we do with the Kobold? As I recall, there is a bounty out for the elimination of the Kobolds, but this one does not seem like the bloodthirsty monster. I wonder whether the others are peaceful, or more like the normal kobolds. We are to settle this land. If there are kobolds here, either they will have to be incorporated into the state, or be eliminated.

Ganit reaches inside his rucksack and retrieves a handful of crumpled papers. Folding through the top two he cycles one to the front of the stack, folds them in half and hands them to Carina. "We must 'eliminate the threat.' Vague tasks leave room for creative solutions. This cave, the prisoner, the statue. Right now we have a pretty decent hand to see that threat eliminated peacefully. Besides we've done enough damage, sweetheart. What kind of message do you want your colony to advertise?" He sneers playfully at the sorcerous knowing her hot-headed nature and sets out of the cavern with arms full of the loot Lukan had gathered.

I'm not the lawyer, but I agree that the goal here is to make the land safe for inhabitation. If the Sootscales are willing to live within the laws we establish. Then we can come to an understanding. If they are unwilling, there are two options. Move or be eliminated.

Lets go find these kobolds and see what happens.

Helping Lukan gather the loot Telias prepares a pipe to light up once they set outside. He grunts at the words being said but offers no comments of his own to the proceedings.
