Molok swings at the priest, again trying to disable and not kill. As the flat part of his greatsword gets close the magical barrier again appears before the earth priest and the blow is deflected away. As he does so the grease beneath the stone man's feet almost makes him slip and fall but somehow he holds his balance.
Keaton squints his eyes with spite at the dodgy cleric. He fires off the wand sending three missiles to strike and runs for cover behind some rocks to break the line of sight. Looking back at the old timer in the hallway he points a jagged finger miming a "stay" motion. The three missiles strike the magical barrier surrounding the priest and seem to be absorbed by it, not causing any damage.
Ember grabs her symbol of Lathander and holds it aloft, Bright light bursts from the symbol flashing out 30 feet in all directions. The priest skin sizzles and burns under the holy light of Lathander. Then she rushes to Narnel's side taking cover behind one of the stones.
Narnel lays unconscious in silence upon the ground.

DM Asmodeus |

TOMB OF MOVING STONES CONCLUSSION AND WRAP UP.
Exploring your way back to the main cave and following the tunnel north it comes out at a cellar door by the wagon works, you quickly get Narnel tended to and seek the aid of the constable.
After telling your tale, constable Harburk quickly draws the correct conclusion that the Believers are the murderers of the bodies that you found. The constable launches a full-fledged investigation into the matter along with the parties assistance.
Harburk questions Baragustas. Harburk finds that Baragustas is also innocent of any overt wrongdoing, so he's quick to confirm the constable's theory and exonerate himself. Marlandro Gaelkur, Albaeri Mellikho, and Ilmeth Waelvur are the actual culprits. Mellikho maintains her innocence in the face of all evidence, blustering loudly. Waelvur breaks down and confesses his involvement, and he implicates Mellikho. Gaelkur plays it cool as long as he can, and flees town a few tendays later when it becomes clear Waelvur is about to implicate him as well.
The murderers also tell of Larrakh's part in the scandal, and of their use of his magic dagger to carve the earth symbol in the victims forhead. However Larrakh is never again found.
This drama plays out over the course of the next month, with some Believers fleeing the town and others disavowing any knowledge of the murders. Regardless the town elders are removed from any power or oversight of the town and ones implicated in the murders are whisked off to Waterdeep to stand trial for their crimes.
The other citizens of Red Larch shun the Believers for the next several months, and the Believers turn against one another. Many retreat into seclusion. Leadership of Red Larch passes to Harburk, but he’s too busy as constable. After a month, Jalessa Ornra becomes Red Larch’s mayor. She’s liked and known for common sense, so the townsfolk rally around her.
The townsfolk pitch in to cover the sinkhole and shore up walls and ceilings against future cave-ins.
And all of you are appointed as full time deputies in service to the constable and the town which covers your living expenses and common cost.
At this time everyone can level their characters up to level 3, you also need to pick a faction for your character if you would like to be part of one (contacts you have made over the last few months) and we need to split the current treasure. Which comes to 110 gold, 2 silver and 4 copper each.
We also need to determine who gets the Magic Missile Wand, Who is getting the Driftglobe and who is getting the dagger "Reszur" (See below)
"Reszur"
A +1 dagger decorated with star motifs and a grip of night-blue leather. The dagger doesn’t make noise when it hits or cuts something.
The name “Reszur” is graven on the dagger’s pommel. If the wielder speaks the name, the blade gives off a faint, cold glow, shedding dim light in a 10-foot radius until the wielder speaks the name again.
Once we get all the above done then we will continue the campaign.

The last month in Red Larch passed without a single incident of trouble. With the Believers gone and the town elders either having fled, arrested or gone into hiding, Jaylessa has taken over as town mayor and Constable Harburk continued his duties with the aid of the group now having been assigned full deputy status. Red Larch had never been safer.
However recently over the last couple of days Red Larch has been full of rumors about a missing delegation from Mirabar. It was a large, well-armed party, and the fact that it seems to have come to grief is quite newsworthy. When the towns newly appointed deputies sift through idle speculation and gossip to find credible leads, they turn up the following possibilities:
• An important delegation from the city of Mirabar disappeared in the nearby Sumber Hills. The whole town is also abuzz with news and rumors of fierce raiders, roaming monsters, suspicious strangers, and unseasonable weather.
• Brother Eardon, a priest of Lathander staying in the Swinging Sword, says the Mirabarans passed through Beliard.
• A caravan guard in the Helm at Highsun says the Mirabarans passed through Beliard.
• Endrith Vallivoe recently came by a beautiful book in Dwarvish and has been showing it off. It looks old and important.
• Larmon Greenboot, a shepherd, says he found strange new graves out in the Sumber Hills. He hangs around Gaelkur’s store.
The five factions know about the overdue delegation and are concerned enough to send agents to investigate. Characters affiliated with these factions are contacted
and asked to help out. Your faction contact and information will be sent to you in a private message later today.
At this point you can choose to contact people around town for more information or go and question one of the above leads in more detail. The sandbox is now open, choose wisely how you proceed. The Dessarin Valley Map can be reached by the Dessarin Valley link at the top of this message.

Narnel Falerathon |

Having hear the recent rumors around Red Larch regarding the disappearance of the delegation, Narnel takes a moment to address the group over a shared evening meal.
I would think that heading out to Beliard to investigate and track the disappearance of the delegation would prove a task worth our time and energy. Since the disappearance occurred somewhere in the Slumber Hills, mayhap this rumor about strange graves from the shepherd is worth delving into before heading to Beliard? Do any of you agree?

Ember Draymon |

" Yes, I was talking to Brother Eardon, last night and he said he saw the Mirabarans pass through Beliard, but I definitely think it would be worth investigating these strange graves along the way. We should try to get a more exact location from this shepherd "
Ember will head over to Gaelkurs store with any one who agrees to come along, to see if she can find the Shepherd.

Keaton Larroquette |

Will go to speak with Endrith, showing him the Harpers secret decoder ring to let him know I am part of the gang.
How-Ya-Doing' Endrith? Can I see that book, that Dwarven book you got?
The Harpers reached out to me and said that the delegation included a renowned shield dwarf historian named Bruldenthar, who was transporting his collection of manuscripts to Waterdeep. The Harpers don’t want the sage or his books to fall into the wrong hands. So if that is one of his books you may want to hide it good before someone comes looking for it, or I can hold onto it if you do not want to deal with the others that may come to claim it. Either way, can you tell me how you got it? I want to see if I can find this Bruldenthar fella, make sure he is safe. Oh and what do you know about Rundreth Manor?

Narnel and Ember go to Gaelkurs store...
This seedy wooden building serves as Red Larch’s used tools and goods shop, its barber, and an unofficial second tavern for locals. Inside is a cluttered shop full of lounging customers—most of them men in no particular hurry to be waited on—with old hair clippings trodden underfoot on the sagging board floor. Marlandro Gaelkur (male Tethyrian human) is the shopkeeper and barber. In addition to providing grooming, he deals in used (and sometimes shady) items with no questions asked. Marlandro is a skilled engraver and was once a jeweler’s assistant in Baldur’s Gate, making mountings for stones and entire rings. Red Larchers drop by to talk. Lately every wild tale of odd and suspicious things that have been seen locally seems to come up for discussion.
After asking around you locate Larmon Greenboot (male Tethyrian human), a local shepherd. He has been telling and retelling the story of finding mysterious freshly dug graves in the Sumber Hills. After speaking with him more about what he found then you learn the following...
Four new graves—simple rock cairns, really—have appeared on a windswept hilltop in the Sumber Hills, about fourty miles (2 days travel) outside of town. The shepherd says that he found them, and he has no idea who would have been buried out there in the last few days. He offers to guide the party to the site where he found the graves, but he insists on waiting until morning. Just let him know when you are ready to depart.
Speaking with Endrith about the book you learn...
Endrith bought a strange old book from a passing merchant just a couple of days ago. The book is a beautifully illuminated manuscript written in Dwarvish. Endrith doesn’t read Dwarvish, so he doesn’t know what is in it; you also don't understand dwarvish so you can not read it either. Endrith explains that he bought it from a peddler passing through town. The peddler told Endrith that he bought it from a shady keelboat skipper in Womford, who had somehow come by a dozen similar books. Endrith is willing to sell the tome to you for what he says he paid for it which is 50 gp, although since you are a Harper he will let you have it for 25 gp. That way not all his coin is lost.
When asked about Rundreth Manor you learn the following...
Atop a hill overlooking the Long Road less than a day’s travel northeast of Amphail stands ruined Rundreth Manor. This large stone mansion, now roofless and overgrown, is home to a mysterious and terrifying figure known far and wide as “the Dark Lady.” Locals warn everyone to stay well away from the ruins.
The site of the graves has been marked on the map.

Keaton Larroquette |

Keaton buys the book for 25 gp. If the Harpers reimburse me I will let them know they owe you 25 gold. Thank you much for your help.
Deducted 25 gp, added Dwarf Book to inventory.
Keaton will seek out his companions.
Hey, I gots-ta go to Womford. There are some snazzy books out there, and I think the guy that wrote them may be in trouble, or dead. Either way I gotta go get them before some evil prick gets them. So time is of the essence? Want to go?
He says impatiently bobbing just a little, being stationary for too long has done a number on Keaton.

Ember Draymon |

" Thank you Larmon, it could be that these graves might offer clues to the whereabouts of the missing delegation, if you could show us the way that would be helpful. We'll check with what our companions are doing and get back to you about tomorrow morning. "
At the party meeting later.
" Does this have anything to do with the missing delegation from Mirabar? " Ember responds to Keaton. " Narnel and I were both interested in checking out some new graves that a Shepard found out on the Sumber Hills. He said they were about two days travel from town, south east. So ford is south from here right? Maybe we could check out the graves on the way to Womford? Or if you think we can't spare the time I guess we could find the graves later, it's just the Shepard offered to show us the way to the graves tomorrow morning. "

Keaton Larroquette |

The Dwarf, Bruldenthar, was part of the delegation, and I guess those books are important. Something is a midst, who else was in the delegation? Anyone important?
Keaton pauses a moment like he is either trying to remember a fact or choosing to share some information, in the end he speaks not guarding his words.
I was also told there is a haunted house in the Slumber Hills parts and to stay clear of, umm... Rundreth Manor?... and the Dark Lady who dwells there, also watch out for the ruined Halls of the Hunting Axe. Man this area has a bunch of ruins huh? Anyway if it is on the way we should check out the graves, otherwise let's just head to Womford and look at the graves later? Sound good?
He looks relieved that they would finally be moving out, and also looks like he is trying to think of where to get a woman for the night.

Narnel Falerathon |

Well, it seems our path is set. Let's get some rest so that we can make the best of our investigation.
Narnel spends some time in quiet meditation in his room before sleeping in anticipation of the morning's departure.

Kenna Icemane |

"We can see the graves on either way I suppose, though so far we haven't had too much success taking care of two destinations on one excursion.", Kenna sounds subtly annoyed at this observation.
"I will go wherever all of you think is best for us to head to."

Ember Draymon |

As the group moves out in the morning Ember takes up a position behind Molok, near the mule.
" Kenna, would I be able to store my bedroll and rope in the cart? "

DM Asmodeus |

The next morning with the shepherd as a guide the group loads up their supplies into the wagon and begins the journey south down the Cairn Road, out past the farms of Red Larch the morning goes peaceful enough and by late evening they had yet to encounter another soul on the lonely road.
The shepherd Larmon Greenboot stops the group at a small game trail that leads off into the edge of the Sumber Hills to the north. "We make camp here tonight. Safer by the road and then head into the hills in the morning. We should be at the site where I found the graves by tomorrow evening."
And with that the group setup camp, enjoying their evening meal of rations before turning in and taking up watch, surprisingly the night passed unmolested and the group rose the next morning and headed north on the small game trail, the travel was much more difficult off the road for the wagon and Keaton often found himself bounced around until he was becoming extremely irritated with the entire venture and wished to go back to the smoother road.
This day passed much slower than the day before but still they had not met another traveler, as if they would being off the main road. As evening fell of the second day the shepherd once again halted the group. "We are here."
On a barren hilltop, you find four freshly dug shallow graves. The earth scraped out for the holes is piled nearby, although hastily gathered stones cover the graves. The faint smell of death hangs in the air, and several vultures circle overhead.
Larmon explains "I graze my sheep in a nearby vale, and I passed by this spot less than a month ago. There were no graves present on that visit. I found them just a couple of days before word of the missing delegation found its way to Red Larch, I have no idea who might be buried here, none of the folk of Red Larch are missing that I know of, and I don't know of anyone else out this way. The hills are mostly uninhabited in this region."
It is evening of the second day and you have a few hours of good light left so you can do whatever you like to investigate the area. No rolls are necessary. Please explain in detail what you are doing and what you will discover will be based on that description.
Also please take off 1 trail ration apiece for the rest on the road the night before.
Once the investigation is done then we will decide where you want to go next but you will be camping here tonight so keep that in mind.

Keaton Larroquette |

Maybe we should dig up the graves? Wait! Maybe we should look how the graves were made, maybe we can find out how many people dug them or whatever. Then dig them up to see if it is the delegation, or the dwarf. Maybe the demon could do last rights or something. I am gonna send Lemmy out to scout around, maybe he will find something. Sounds good.
Keaton seems to agree with and praise his own idea.

Narnel Falerathon |

Sounds good Keaton. We should dig up at least one of the shallow Graves to see if we can determine if this is any of the delegation.

Keaton Larroquette |

Smiles when his plan is accepted by Narnel.
Keaton summons Lemmy and gives him directions to scout around for a few mile radius and if he sees anything that would be a threat to me to come back and give a report of what he seen.
Keaton then visually inspects the individual cairns trying to figure out which one is the shortest. To ensure that he is finding the shortest grave he lays down next to each one trying to gage his height by putting his head at the end then sitting up and making a mark in the ground where the bottom of his feet lay. Comparing the lengths he now calls "Keats" he will determine the smallest cairn and declare, If there be a dwarf here, there he be.
He then investigates that cairn trying to figure out how it was constructed,or if it was made by a group of people working together, he also judges the size of the stones to determine if one person could move them alone.
Stone man, where do you think all these rocks came from? I mean we are in a grassy field there is not any exposed rocks to just pick up and make piles of for this many graves. How many Keats of stone do you think we have here? Is there a stone wall or something around here or something? Because if I was a soulless murderer or bandit or what have you, I would not move even one Keat of stone too far. I may move the bodies to the stone, because they weigh less.
Keaton ponders this as he stands up and tries to figure out where the stones could of come from.

DM Asmodeus |

Current Location: Red Larch
Current Map Link: Dessarin Valley Map
Keaton began to investigate the graves before him. There were four graves in total. One was definitely shorter than the other three. The graves look like they were hastily dug and covered haphazardly with stones from around the area. Having determined at least one of the graves might be dwarvish in nature they began to dig, it didn't take long to uncover the first occupant as the graves were very shallow, probably what was attracting the buzzards that flew overhead as the scent of death was still very strong as they dug. The occupant was a male dwarf dressed in artisan robes, a single arrow still stuck in the dwarfs back and his right shoulder had been crushed by a blunt weapon.
Keaton also had Lemmy scout the surrounding area and soon came back with nothing to report except for pointing his beak in one direction and flapping his wings as if to get Keaton to look in that direction. Keaton found a small boulder to climb up on to get a better look.
From here Keaton had a good view of the surrounding hills from this vantage point. To the west he could make out the tiny outline of Red Larch, and the thin dark line marking the Long Road. In the distance to the north, you see a slender old tower circled by very large birds. Nothing else is in sight around here.
When Larmon is asked about the tower he says "That tower in the distance is Feathergale Spire. All I know about the place is that knights out of Waterdeep come up here sometimes, riding on flying monsters." He adds, "They keep to themselves."
Looking around for other clues Narnel finds a confused collection of tracks, a few broken arrows, a discarded javelin, and a tattered gray cloak.
Larmon then looks at the rest "So are we going to dig up the other three? Light will be fading soon and we will need to make camp here."

Ember Draymon |

" Yes, I think we should, though it's grisly work. " Ember says frowning. " Do you think this is Bruldenthar, Keaton? " Ember asks inspecting the dwarf for any identifying features, badges on clothing or anything like that.
Ember moves on starting on the other graves.
" I know it's a lot of work, but we should cover these bodies back over, and return once we've got your books Keaton. That way we can take them back to Redlarch and give them a proper burial. "

Narnel Falerathon |

I agree, let us have at it before bedding down.
Narnel sets to digging up the remainder of the graves and searching the bodies for clues as to their affiliation with the delegation. He pays particular attention to the identity of any Female Moon Elves and the contents of their pockets.

Kenna Icemane |

Kenna helps with uncovering the remaining bodies.
"I could use my abilities to help us dig proper graves faster." she offers to Ember.

DM Asmodeus |

Current Location: Red Larch

Ember inspects the body of the dwarf closer, his artisan robes are marked with soot and small shavings of metal, she finally concludes that the dwarf was probably a smith wherever he was from.
As the grop begins to uncover the other three graves they find...
The 2nd grave is that of a female human warrior dressed in a red surcoat with a black axe (the symbol of Mirabar's army)
The 3rd grave is that of a male human warrior dressed in a black cloak with strange stony armor and bears the same symbol as the Bringers of Woe and the Earth Priest had beneath Red Larch. The alchemical symbol for 'Earth'
Picture of Symbol
The 4th grave is that of a male human in a white robe with black feathers at the shoulders on which has the alchemical symbol for 'air'.
Picture of Symbol
All of the dead appear to have died from arrow wounds or crushing blows.
Most of the days light has faded by the time all the graves are unearthed, lights can be seen coming from the tower way off in the distance as if someone was burning torches or lanterns inside the stone structure. Larmon mentions "We need to setup camp for the night, if we build a fire it could be seen for miles around but without one it gets kind of chilly up here in the hills at night. Also these dead bodies scent may attract a scavenger or two if we are not careful."

Narnel Falerathon |

Let us leave the bodies in the cart and camp a bit away from them for that very reason. Also, be careful not to ruin the careless tracks left by the possible attackers. We may want to pick up a trail in the morning. This does not appear to be the delegation, unless the female Moon Elf I seek has gotten away.
