Trinia cringes as she sees her allies are being hurt, but she continues to sing her song.

While she continues to sing, Trinia casts lesser confusion on the bulette.

"Thanks, Tree!" Baer grunts. "I feel better. You're a true frond."

Quorthos dives back into the fray, somewhat healed by the tree magic. Dodging the beast's claws, he sinks his dagger into the creature's side.

"Sorry, Baer! I have to move back now!"

Majenko drops himself off Baer's shoulder and moves five feet away from the bulette, where he goes total defense and hopes the bulette won't target him till he gets a chance to properly withdraw.

Tural takes a step closer to Baer and pokes her with the wand he has in his hands, casting cure moderate wounds on her.

Baer grunts and continues to beat her way through the bulwarks of the beast, hitting it once. She then moves five feet south. (Judging by the map.)

Mavor takes a 5-foot step south and swings his greataxe at the creature, still fighting defensively. He misses the bulette again.

Quorthos dives back into the fray, somewhat healed by the tree magic. By moving toward the bulette Quorthos manages to avoid provoking an attack. He tries to stab the animal again, but his dagger doesn't pierce the bulette's armor.

Majenko drops himself off Baer's shoulder and moves five feet away from the bulette, where he goes total defense.

The bulette continues to focus entirely on those who attack it. It bites Mavor in his shoulder and follows up with a claw, which Mavor miraculously manages to avoid.

"Baer!"

Majenko wants to help Baer, but knows that he doesn't stand a ghost of a chance versus the bulette. He withdraws and watches the battle from a distance.

"Baer, get up!"

Mavor takes another step southwards and attacks the Bullette again, now with more fury than thinking on defense as he feels defending isn't going to work out.

"I've noticed it only targets those who attack it, but I don't know what it does when you get up!"

She then continues her song to inspire everyone.

That's how you went from 10HP to 21HP. You were then hit for 19, and ended up at 2HP.

Majenko withdraws from combat.

Mavor abandons his extra defense as he takes a step southward and attacks the bulette again. His greataxe sinks into a weak spot in between two armor plates and deals massive damage.

Trinia casts cure light wounds, then moves up to Baer and touches her shoulder to deliver the spell. She then continues her song to inspire everyone.

Tural glances around again and looks worriedly at Mavor and Majenko, seeing the channel healed the beast also he decides to poke Baer in the ribs again with the wand.
"I'm not a bloody healer! Stop going down and give me some time to weaken him before you decide to tickle him again!"
Tural responds angrily as he heals Baer a bit further.

Baer thanks Tural for the healing, but is confused.

Denario draws another card and imbues it with a hint of acid dmg.

"Sht, it's doing quite a number on us here."

Tural curses his current party role and heals Baer a bit more.

Denario draws another card and imbues it with acid damage. He throws the card and pierces the bulette's armor, hurting the badly wounded animal some more.

The bulette bites Quorthos hard. It turns around and swings a claw at Mavor, but misses. The bulette turns back to Quorthos and swings its other claw at the boy, hitting Quorthos hard and knocking him unconscious.

Trinia takes a step south and concentrates on her next spell.

Wow, I thought for sure I was a goner.

Mavor roars at the massive plated beast before him, then continues to swing at him with a focused greataxe beating.
"Stay! Away! From! My! Friends!"

Mavor roars and swings his greataxe was all his strength. The axe splits the bulette's skull open, instantly killing it. As the huge body of the bulette hits the ground, you feel a soft tremor in the earth beneath your feet.

Combat's over!

Baer thumps the bullette a few more times before sagging down and resting, her body leaning on the beast.

"What the piddlespot?! Why? How...?" Baer says dazedly. "Boy? BOY?! Are you okay? Answer me!"

Baer rises angrily to check on Quorthos and to beat him silly for not answering her questions.

"Kill that thing and get close, I'll heal everyone up."
Tural says as relief washes over him for the thing to be down.

He asks when he depletes his spells. While he's busy he redoes everyone's battle wards.

Mavor approaches as Tural asks, then leans on his greataxe, huffing from exhaustion and from the bleeding wounds.

"I think it's dead Tural... Look at its skull... Hope Quorthos is alright."

Quorthos comes around after Tural's channels. "Wha... ouch. That hurt." He sits up shakily, and looks around. Seeing the bulette defeated and everyone alive, he stands and checks on his friends. "I'm ok, Baer. Don't hit me, or that might change," he states deadpan.

I can use some more healing, Tural," Quorthos mentioned after everyone else is healed.

Glad the fight was over, Denario takes a quick look at Mavor's handiwork.

"Talking about a strong finish, you did a good number on him there, Mavor."

"Aye I did, but that beast did a good number on us as well. Baer, Quorthos and I are in rough shape, even Majenko got hurt pretty badly."

Mavor looks at the dead creature before him and looks at its teeth.
"Any way we can use any part of this beast? It's hide is tough and scaly, he's got some great long teeth and claws. Anybody got any string by any chance?"

Mavor aims to remove some teeth from the bulette and perhaps a few claws to serve as a necklace and keepsake from this deadly encounter.

"No string, but I have a crowbar... that might be more up to the task." Quorthos makes sure he retrieves the various items he dropped during the combat, then turns to Trinia, to see how she handled the attack of such a terrifying monster.

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (19) + 0 = 19

Quorthos, don't forget Trinia also healed you for 9 after you went down.

When Quorthos checks Trinia, he sees she holds up surprisingly well. As a matter of fact, Trinia was just checking everyone else to see if they were fine.

Trinia casts a healing spell on Mavor, then another one on Quorthos. "I hope this helps a bit? I fear I can't help you any more."

"Thanks, Tural! I thought I was a goner. If it would've hit me one more time I'd have been dead..."

Baer goes over to thank Tural and Trinia for the healing after checking on Quorthos.

"Thanks you two," Baer looks at her ribs where the bullette bit her. "I don't know how we survived...that beast hit so hard. I've never met its match. I will have to ponder ways for me to fight harder, to hit harder." Baer shakes his head and goes to help Denario harvest the beast.

"At least we will be eating well today. Lots of meat!"

Baer draws her dagger and begins to carve portions of meat for cooking and eating. "Mavor, get over here and help me."

"Hold on there Baer. I'd like to take an opportunity to harvest some of the hide of this beast. Or at least try to. I'm all up for eating it afterwards though and at least getting a keepsake."

Mavor circles around the east and looks for any opening to start skinning the mighty creature.

"Uhm.. where to start though... Tural? You look like the one of us that is most used to the outdoors. No offense meant of course, but I've grown up inside the city and lived there all my life. I've got little skill in cleanly skinning this beast. Can you make a start?"

Tural has only skill lvl 74 in skinning, he needs to be 100 to skin an animal this big.

My skill level is over nine... THOUSAAAAAAND!!!!

"I'll give it a whirl. Anybody have a knife I can use? Lost mine a while back in the woods."
When he receives a knife he will slowly start cutting the skin of the beast.
"My dad showed me once but I think it goes somewhat like this, could someone help me a bit?"

Taking 10 on survival for a grand total of 19.
Never bought a knife...

Baer sits back...then goes to make a fire (if its time for camp) to cook some delicious bullette meat.

Quorthos appears increasingly frustrated as time goes on. "So, is this going to take long? Not that I mind standing around in the wilderness while our city suffers, but... oh, wait, I *do* mind!" He shakes his head angrily as the emotion pours out.

"Fine, we're taking Trinia to safety, that's great - Blackjack thinks she's important, obviously. But there are also Korvosans dying of a mysterious disease at home, and no one else is dealing with it. The Field Marshall seemed to set us loose to deal with it quiet-like, since those other guards seemed to have... different motives. We know the Abadar clowns won't do it. All we have to go on is the shipwreck, which I will note is not to be found in the belly of a landshark!"

Quorthos turns and looks at his friends, somewhat surprised that he let his feelings out so clearly and bluntly. His eyes flicker to Baer, but then away again, and he finds some very interesting bits of gravel to look at on the ground.

"Sorry. It's just... all my life I've wanted to help Korvosa, to follow up the deeds of the heroes that have kept our city safe. And now I feel we're turning our backs, in her time of need."

Quorthos turns and looks back towards Korvosa, feeling he's said enough. Too much.

"Sorry. It's just... all my life I've wanted to help Korvosa..."

Baer rolls her eyes. Youth! So young!

Baer answers the overeager 'youth'.

"Don't worry, Boy. You're still young and you still have time to go back and learn to be a healer if you want. Sure...in 5 or 10 years of dedicated training and apprenticeship, you might even become a skilled healer," Baer replies, not bothered at all by the outburst. "Also, the ship is already sunk. It's not going anyplacee and whatever disease that it brought might be better off burning itself out without us inside. It might be better for us to wait it out then go back and find out why it happened."

"All in due time. I don't mind being out of that city for a while actually, maybe we could even visit my village on the way back. That said we couldn't do much against the sickness as is, maybe it's better for us to be away a couple of days. Gives us some time to think."
Tural replies to Quorthos and Baer.

Mavor stands up from his assist in helping skin the bulette with a self-inflicted wound in his hand and he wipes it off on his clothes.

"Well Quorthos, we almost died against this landshark. It's hide is pretty tough and it might be worthwhile to skin it as it could save our lives. I'm just thinking about the future here, if somebody could fashion an armour out of this, we're more able to do our 'work' back in Korvosa. Or at least, less chance of dying there."

He walks over to Quorthos and claps his clean hand on his shoulder.
"I'd like to get back to Korvosa as well, it's my home too, though not often as friendly to me as I would have liked. We'll get back and help where we can, but I think Blackjack would also be quite happy, knowing Trinia is safe. With that worry from his mind he can focus on helping the people of Korvosa in our stead. We're his right hands at this moment."

Mavor grins at Quorthos with this last remark and joins Baer at the fire.

"... his right hands" ... I can live with that.

It's not yet your usual dinner time, but you decide to cook the bulette meat and dine a bit earlier. The meat's cooked by the time Tural and Denario successfully finish skinning the bulette.

With a total of 21 you've obtained enough armor plating and hide to produce two sets of Medium bulette plate mail and four sets of Medium leather or studded leather armor. Check here for more info.

Trinia looks at Quorthos after swallowing some of the meat. "I'm sure Mavor's correct, Quorthos. Blackjack's probably out to help people as we speak."

Trinia looks up at the sun, which reveals it's nearly the end of the afternoon. "Shall we walk a bit further, or do you want to set up camp here? I don't think we'll reach Galdent today, but we could get a bit closer."

Tural holds up a fold of thick bloody skin to the others.
"This stuff is really heavy. I will not be able to carry any of it, could one of you guys carry it when we have cleaned it?"

Baer will help carry the bullette bits, eager to possibly have armor for herself made. Apparently, there might be discussions to be had in time...should they make it back to Korvosa and find a still-living armorer who would take up the task.

So she carries some skin.

After eating, Baer is ready to move on again, camping when ready.
