You decide to head out as soon as possible, and Jasan quickly leads you to his food storage so you can stock up on whatever you need.

When you're about to set out, Trinia speaks up. "Mind if I come with you? I know I might be a bit out of my league, but... Maybe I can help you with the Shoanti? Somehow?"

It's up to you if she joins you or doesn't. She may prove useful, or she may prove to be a damsel. Who knows?

"I will," Trinia tells Tural. "You just head back. The city needs you more than I do."

Trinia still has some leftover money, and that evening you spend your time in Galdent's inn at Vencarlo's expenses. After a good meal you go to bed, and the next morning you meet up again for breakfast.

"I really should be leaving now," Trinia says as she finishes her meal. She gets up and looks a bit hesitant, but then gives all of you a hug.

"Thank you so much! I hope we'll get to meet again!"

Trinia hugs Quorthos last, and just a bit longer than the others. "Thanks for helping me that day, Quorthos... If not for you..."

Trinia quickly releases the hug and steps back. She waves at all of you as she exits the inn, and she's gone.

Anything you want to buy before you leave? Got enough food for the journey back?

As with all loot, the bulette plates and hides are all magically transfered to the loot list till you take it out of there.

Old Tom look Tural over, suspicion clear in his eyes. But when Tural starts talking the old man eases up. He eases up even more when he sees it's the young (human) lady that'll be riding the horse. "I tell you what, lad. I bought this horse for a hundred gold pieces. If she takes a liking to this young lady here when they meet, I'll sell her for the same amount."

The old man guides you to his backyard, where the horse is tied to a fence. Trinia approaches the horse, which sniffs her and pushes her head against Trinia. "What's her name, sir?"

The old man nods approvingly. "Her name's Mary. Seems like you'll get along just fine."

Trinia walks up to the man and gives him the gold. "Here you go, sir. Is the equipment included, or...?"
Vencarlo had given her gold for a horse.

"Yeah, just take it. I have no use for it anyway. My old bones hurt when I sit on her. A real shame, but so be it."

Tural, Trinia, and those who went with them say goodbye to old Tom, taking Mary with them, and meet up with Baer and Mavor at the town square.

"I think it's best if I leave in the morning. It's probably not safe for me to start traveling this late in the afternoon," Trinia says. "Will you also stay here till tomorrow?"

I believe at least one character wanted to travel all the way to Harse, but I know some would rather head back now you've done your part. What's your plan?

@Denario: Never played that game. Funny it has a similar thing going on :o

"Sounds promising," Trinia comments after hearing about the old man's horse. "I'm quite fond of animals. I think this may work out."

It's not yet your usual dinner time, but you decide to cook the bulette meat and dine a bit earlier. The meat's cooked by the time Tural and Denario successfully finish skinning the bulette.

With a total of 21 you've obtained enough armor plating and hide to produce two sets of Medium bulette plate mail and four sets of Medium leather or studded leather armor. Check here for more info.

Trinia looks at Quorthos after swallowing some of the meat. "I'm sure Mavor's correct, Quorthos. Blackjack's probably out to help people as we speak."

Trinia looks up at the sun, which reveals it's nearly the end of the afternoon. "Shall we walk a bit further, or do you want to set up camp here? I don't think we'll reach Galdent today, but we could get a bit closer."

Quorthos, don't forget Trinia also healed you for 9 after you went down.

When Quorthos checks Trinia, he sees she holds up surprisingly well. As a matter of fact, Trinia was just checking everyone else to see if they were fine.

CLW, Mavor: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
CLW, Quorthos: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

Trinia casts a healing spell on Mavor, then another one on Quorthos. "I hope this helps a bit? I fear I can't help you any more."

Placed Tural's CMW on Mavor. That leaves the wounded like this:
Majenko 12/15HP
Quorthos 20/26HP
Mavor 23/36HP

Trinia takes a step south and concentrates on her next spell.

Cast defensively: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22
CLW: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9

She touches Quorthos's shoulder and defensively casts cure light wounds to heal him. "You may want to stall attacking it or getting up till you're healed a bit more."

Trinia then continues, and finishes, her song:
"A throne, lying empty
A reign, incomplete
Alone, for eternity
A pain, without cease
Children of the land, answer this
Why must you turn to empty bliss
Tell me why break trust, why turn the past to dust
Seeking solace in the abyss
Tell me why create, a circle none can break
Why must you let go, the life you were bestowed
This I fear I'll never know
Never know"

Last round of Inspire Courage +1

Trinia casts cure light wounds, then moves up to Baer and touches her shoulder to deliver the spell.

CLW: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12

"Stay put till Tural's also healed you!" Trinia tells Baer.

"I've noticed it only targets those who attack it, but I don't know what it does when you get up!"

She then continues her song to inspire everyone.

"One soul's cry
A passion dwelling within
Sacrifice, a final plea to her kin
Yet this bond of hope, by treachery was broke
Scattering her words to the wind
Swelling over long,
seas of blood, are a song
And death an afterthought
To those who fight for naught"

Trinia cringes as she sees her allies are being hurt, but she continues to sing her song.

"But flames that burn full bright, soon fell dark
Memories dimmed by shadowed hearts
In the waxing gloom did wane the lover's moon
Watching as their worlds drift apart"

While she continues to sing, Trinia casts lesser confusion on the bulette.

Inspire Courage +1 continues.

Trinia stays at a safe distance and starts singing a song.

"Children of the land do you hear
Echoes of truths that once rang clear
Two souls intertwined
One true love they did find
Bringing land and heavens near"

Inspire Courage +1 is up.

"Yickes!"

Trinia withdraws to a spot at a safe distance from the bulette.

"You should've mentioned that earlier, Tural. We could've stopped by."

Trinia shrugs. "Well maybe you can visit your family on your way back to Korvosa?"

"Hey this may be a bit random, but would you mind telling me about some of your previous missions? If they're not classified, of course. I love stories and am curious what agents of the guard actually do."

DC 20 Perception:
You notice the ground moves a little about a hundred feet east of you. A fin-like kind of plate stick out of the ground and moves toward you.

Trinia's eyes grow two sizes when she hears Majenko's voice inside her head for the very first time, but she simply nods. "Aha, I see."

Tural recalls a story he once heard in the Three Rings tavern, during one of the nights after he'd just arrived in Korvosa. He overheard a man tell that, many years ago, there lived a woman in Galdent who gave birth to a half-elf girl. The townsfolk weren't too keen on the girl, especially because the father wasn't known, but tolerated her because the mother was the local herbalist and helped many people in town. One day the girl, just a toddler, pointed out a bird on a lantern post and electrocuted it with magic from her finger. Both the woman and the girl were chased out of Galdent for witchcraft and their house was burned.

Now Tural remembers the story, it doesn't take him long to recall what Allyph said before she parted with the others: "I was born in a town not far from Harse, and I don't want to go near there... They chased my mother and me off, because of my magic and my... well, race..."

I'll give one more reminder to eat/drink at least once a day ;)

Once you've gathered your belongings you continue your journey. Half a day later you exit the forest and the landscape changes to grassy hills.

"I've never been this far out of Korvosa," Trinia tells you. "Are you all from Korvosa, or did you grow up somewhere else? Any places you'd like to visit some day?"

Trinia sets up her tent and helps to gather some wood near the field. About one hour later all your tents are up, and you've got a campfire burning in the middle. Those who looked for threats weren't able to find any.

Could you mention it if you eat or drink anything during rest moments? If you don't do so for a prolonged period, it'll eventually result in some penalties. (Not going to be too hard about it though. Eating and drinking once a day is fine.)

After an uneventful night you study the map some more. Trinia studies the map with you, meanwhile eating a trail ration and drinking some water from her waterskin. "Looks like the nearest village is Galdent, about halfway to Harse. It will probably take two more days to get there, depending on how fast we move? I see nothing but road till Galdent."

"I remember Vencarlo telling me there are a couple of farms along the road to Harse, and people there may be willing to part with a horse. But the map doesn't show the farms."

Galdent's not on any map of Varisia, but I placed it halfway Korvosa and Harse in case you decide to travel that far.

Trinia smiles at Tural. "That sounds like a good plan."

She takes a coin from her pocket and flips it.

1d2 ⇒ 1

"Let's take that road," she says after checking the coin, and points at the road leading into the forest.

Over the course of several hours you walk the road toward the forest. It's slowly getting dark when you arrive at its edge. After you walk a little into the forest you soon spot a small field among the trees, which would make an ideal spot to set up your tents.

"Shall we camp here?" Trinia asks.

"Hmm, I see. Vencarlo told me you work for the Field Marshal, and he mentioned you're trustworthy. Have you worked with him before?"

Trinia looks at each of you in turn. "Sooo... what are you working on now, or is that classified? I heard Allyph say something about a disease before she left?"

As you walk you come to a crossroad, with two separate roads leading north. There are no signs, but your map shows you both roads will eventually take you to the same town up north. The road to the northeast is the shortest and will take you through a forest, while the road to the northwest will take you around the forest.

Trinia studies the map before looking at you with a questioning face.

A large tent costs 30gp. -10gp for Tural, and same for Denario and Mavor. If Quorthos wants to chip in as well he can settle that with the others.

You follow Vencarlo's plan and take a slow walk through the city down to High Bridge and then up to Dwarfwalk Road. You mingle with the afternoon's merchants leaving the city, and have no trouble leaving the city.

You now find yourselves on Dwarfwalk Road, east of the Thief's Camp.

"So why'd you decide to help me now, after trying to capture me before?" Trinia asks curiously as you follow the road.

"Hey!" Trinia says when you return to Vencarlo's Academy. "Vencarlo just left. He's already gone after those scrolls you wanted. Ready to go?"

Trinia picks up her backpack and smiles. "It may sound strange, because I'm fleeing, but I'm actually looking forward to the trip. I wonder what Harse will be like, has any of you ever been there?"

everyone may make one roll, and open up all spoilers equal to and lower than the result.

DC 10 Knowledge (Local):
The village of Harse known for its horse and livestock breeding, and holds a large rodeo at the Harse Market each year to determine Varisia's top riders and animals.

DC 15 Knowledge (Local):
Founded by Sarwin Harse, the village of Harse is an important gateway between Korvosa's inland holdings and its seaward settlements. Positioned at the junction of the Sarwin and Falcon Rivers, the village's twin ferries provide the easiest means of crossing both rivers for travelers in the area.

DC 20 Knowledge (Local):
The village is built on a narrow strip of land between the Sarwin and Falcon rivers, and has been a river crossing since the time before the Chelaxians came there. It contains only a few dozen buildings, including a church of Erastil, two grocers, and two taverns (the Spotted Pony, and the Nag Bag). Most of the inhabitants do not live in the village proper, but on isolated farms and ranches spread about the local countryside.

Trinia looks at Baer and blinks. "What...?"

"Oh my, I'm so sorry! I hope you didn't hurt yourself badly?!"

Anything you want to pick up before leaving the city?
