Briar looks at the prisoners as if searching for someone...but ends the search as he realizes they are all humans and loses interest.

While Charlie works on the prisoners and Nikolay interrogates them, Briar sniffs a rose on his armor and keeps a lookout.

Dandi looks at the arm, then back at Briar, "Are you sure we shouldn't go right now before the Otyugh eats the rest of him? If we get most of the pieces, maybe uhhh... " Can they sew people back together?

Fondo thinks for a moment and wrinkles his nose. "Let's press on, but give the otyugh some fresh cabbage. Might slow it down..." Do we train to be murderers true? Disposing of bodies once we're through...?"

Male Human (Per +18 | Fort +12 Ref +16 Will +12 | AC 24 (f 19/t 17)| CMD 30/f 25)

Barael has no reservations about derro cabbage.

Male Human (Init +7 | Per +16 | Fort +16 Ref +15 Will +11* +1 enchant, +4 language & sonic | AC 32 (f25/t19) | CMD36*)

Fondo goes back out into the other room and up one of Cabbagehead's limp arms. "Nik? Barael? We'll want to make it quick so's it don't grab us along with dinner."

Male Human (PER +6 | FORT+15 REF+9 WILL+11 | AC 26 (F24, T14) CMD28)

LOL.

"Agreed. Hopefully we'll find the rest of the body and not have to deal with the otyugh."

I didn't memorize prestidigitation today.
- I can't smell.

Male Human (Per +18 | Fort +12 Ref +16 Will +12 | AC 24 (f 19/t 17)| CMD 30/f 25)

"So. We're gonna cut up the body? Make it easier to throw it to the waste creature?". Barael takes out his dagger. "You think the carrion glut likes white meat or dark meat?". Barael proceeds to separate arm from torso should no one object. Damn thankless job you've set before us, Aroden.

"You thinking the creature will pay us no mind if we throw it a bone?" Barael waves Cabbagehead's arm and hand at Fondo. "I'm worried that it's opportunistic, take anything it can get, while the taking is good. Unless the wheelbarrow is any indication that it's fed routinely."

Male Human (Init +7 | Per +16 | Fort +16 Ref +15 Will +11* +1 enchant, +4 language & sonic | AC 32 (f25/t19) | CMD36*)

Fondo turns green as Barael begins slicing into Cabbagehead's shoulder. "Little brother, you've a sharp mind and a sharp knife, but we've little enough time to butcher. Though mayhap the golem'll be easier to dissect." At least he's not taking trophies. Yet...

Male Human (Per +18 | Fort +12 Ref +16 Will +12 | AC 24 (f 19/t 17)| CMD 30/f 25)

"Give Nik three snicks, his blade's like a hot knife through butter. As long as the butter don't fight back." Barael turns to Nik, and lightly bows to his weapon. That is a mighty fine metal. Not as nice as Sadon's loan from the church, but awfully nice.

Briar keeps watch as Barael prepares a feast so rancid that not even an otyugh might eat

"This is a great plan. I can't see any problems with it whatsoever," Briar deadpans. "I guess we're going back now, eh?"

"Uhg, I hate to say it, but uhm.. do you think we should look over the uhh, what did you call it, golem? to make sure it doesn't have any tattoed pieces, just in case?" Dandi's nose wrinkles, but she's not afraid to get dirty.

The golem has no tattooed pieces.

So on to the Otyugh? If so, let me know how you approach, what square you want to start in, etc.

"Barael, was there even room to enter its lair — two people dragging a body and tossing it, without it being right upon us? If not, perhaps we'd best toss the arm in first." Fondo's looking greener and greener.

Male Human (Init +7 | Per +16 | Fort +16 Ref +15 Will +11* +1 enchant, +4 language & sonic | AC 32 (f25/t19) | CMD36*)

Let's just go in and kill it.

I didn't move you quite that far up Barael. I put you where you can first perceive the Otyugh. rather than all the way in the room where he'll surely see you.

Map Update

The otyugh sniffs the air, and looks in your direction.

"I smell warm food!"

He begins to head your way...

Presuming you're backing out, I need another stealth check Barael.

Presumption correct.

Stealth 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15

Barael hears an otyugh talk for the first time, and quickly enough connects the severed arm in his hands with the words spoken. Barael tosses the arm into the room and slowly backs out.

"Blood and blisters. It talks...what do we say to it?"

Charlie:
No charges used on the prisoners. Their injuries weren't life threatening, just cuts and scrapes, lack of food & water, and disease. Otyughs love garbage of all sorts. You've not heard of one that prefers human flesh before, but this one seems to.

"Is that you little man? I am close to no food!" You hear some shuffling. "Just few legs left!"

He throws out the arm you threw in. "NO, no, this is no good! Otto getting angry little man!"

Male Human (Per +18 | Fort +12 Ref +16 Will +12 | AC 24 (f 19/t 17)| CMD 30/f 25)

"Wha? What's no good?? The leg not smelly enough for it?" Barael barely glances back at the party, keeping his eyes down the narrowed corridor, for signs of sluggish advances. "Don't those things deal with newly dumped garbage matter all the time in the plugs? Haven't heard much else."

Male Human (Init +7 | Per +16 | Fort +16 Ref +15 Will +11* +1 enchant, +4 language & sonic | AC 32 (f25/t19) | CMD36*)

"How about this? You throw us out the legs, and we give you a few whole bodies? Freshly killed, offal still in 'em. This one's plenty fatty."

Knowledge local to match Barael's: what do the locals usually feed these things? Do we need to find the derro chamber pots? 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9

GM Roll:
1d20 ⇒ 12

"ROAR!! We had deal!! Little man breaking deal!"

You hear the Otyugh stomping around in the mud, clearly angry. Then a pause.

"Little man come here and we make new deal."

With all your lovely knowledge, locals you know that the Otyughs in the plugs eat whatever cast offs flow through the sewers. Usually human excrement and bits of trash and garbage. You've not heard of one who eats body parts.

Male Human (Init +7 | Per +16 | Fort +16 Ref +15 Will +11* +1 enchant, +4 language & sonic | AC 32 (f25/t19) | CMD36*)

Giving a sheepish look at his fellows, Fondo edges a bit into the hallway—but not too far. "That was a different little man. We're much nicer little men. Tell us what you need and we'll make it happen."

Diplomacy to ask favor 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22
Bluff to sound more trustworthy than he really is 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25

"Moar humans! NOW!"

He's really quite focused on his stomach. You can see him, and he can see you, but he's out of reach at the moment. He does edge up 5' though, trying to look nonchalant. And failing...

Male Human (Init +7 | Per +16 | Fort +16 Ref +15 Will +11* +1 enchant, +4 language & sonic | AC 32 (f25/t19) | CMD36*)

"Ah, humans. Yes. Not a problem. Let me go fetch some from the other room. Why don't you throw those nasty legs out while I get 'em? Only the best fresh meat for you, my friend."

Were there – *gag* – any human bodies lying around? I've forgotten...

Male Human (Per +18 | Fort +12 Ref +16 Will +12 | AC 24 (f 19/t 17)| CMD 30/f 25)

What could it take...? "The rendered fats? Was there enough to throw the abomination? Why do we want that? It's an eater of humans. It may need to be put down like a rabid dog, right?" Barael pulls out his shortbow and nocks an arrow, emphasizing his consideration.

There's the town Guard by the entrance, the prisoners you let go (though they were technically still alive) and that's about it. There might be some scraps left in the pit, but not much...

You do have an arm with tattoos on it. You could swap an arm for a pair of legs. hehehehe.

Male Human (PER +6 | FORT+15 REF+9 WILL+11 | AC 26 (F24, T14) CMD28)

Nikolay is happy to go along with the party's decision, barter or kill.

Male Human (Init +7 | Per +16 | Fort +16 Ref +15 Will +11* +1 enchant, +4 language & sonic | AC 32 (f25/t19) | CMD36*)

I was counting on the hope that it finds Fondo charming enough, and is ready to throw us some legs while Fondo searches. Bluff roll and such.

Fondo edges back out and puts a finger to his lips. "One thing at a time, brov" he whispers to Barael.

Otto the Otyugh does not seem like the sort of Otyugh to give up food now in exchange for future food.

You might be able to get him to give up small food for larger food.

Male Human (Init +7 | Per +16 | Fort +16 Ref +15 Will +11* +1 enchant, +4 language & sonic | AC 32 (f25/t19) | CMD36*)

"Have you ever tasted a derro? My guess is no. But the last little man — the blue one — smells pretty tasty now. I've got him and three of his friends here, just waiting to be eaten up. Give it a try, and let me know what you think."

Fondo rolls his eyes at Dandi. If all the otyugh were this prissy, Korvosa'd be buried in shit. "About ready for that, yeah..."

But first, Fondo goes to fetch one of the derro corpses, and drags it back to the tunnel. "Here's the first of several. Tasty. Lots of gristle." Desna, this thing stinks.

Male Human (Per +18 | Fort +12 Ref +16 Will +12 | AC 24 (f 19/t 17)| CMD 30/f 25)

Barael considers lacing a derro body with one of his poison vials.
Knowledge, Poison?1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21

Otto reaches for the body, snatching it from the ground at Fondo's feet (10' reach at least). It gnaws on the head and you hear the tearing of flesh, the splintering of bone, and the slurping of brains as it begins to devour the Derro.

"Ewwww! The blue man tastes bitter! I will not give you human flesh for this flesh."

He eats the entire Derro anyway, complaining all the while about the bitter taste. Placated, it does not attack, nor does it give up it's last tasty morsel of human flesh. Further, it doesn't look like it's going to eat those legs in the next little while either.

So you're not giving up a dead guard body for the prize you seek?

Barael, I don't think you have any ingested poisons, just blade venom.

So that's it then? Rather than part with the dead body of a guy you don't even know, you'll attack a defenseless creature in his own home just trying to beg for food? Awwww...

Dandilion, I'm imposing a -4 cover penalty to your attack as there is cover in the way (Fondo) and some wall. I could double it, but it doesn't matter either way. :)

"Hey! What's the pretty lights for! That's not nice little man! You not playing fair!!"

The Otyugh 5' steps and begins to lash out at Fondo in the entry way...

"Are you sure you didn't like that first arm? Lots of marbling on that one's body." Fondo sighs and makes a note to only eat honey and truffles so that the city's otyughs will feel well cared for in the future.

As Dandi throws her webbing, Fondo scampers in and scrabbles about for some legs. Then he rushes back out.

"Why not let's throw him some cabbage anyway?"

You easily find some tattooed legs - still attached - with most of the hips also intact. Yummy!
