DM-Kal, sorry about that. I didn't know if the guards mercilessly killed anyone who made disruptions or anything. That's why I was waiting for clarification.

I'm not sure. I think some of this might need to be moved back over to Rule the City. I need to know how close they are, how close Sarcon is to them, etc.

The way you'd do that, fyi, is to simply roll your initiative in the "Rule the City" gameplay.

If Sarcon wants to retcon his falchion in the middle of all that, I'll make it work. I'd say it's reasonable that everyone is within 20ft or less of everyone else.

If you are talking about his initiative, I can only make a single person reroll once a day, and there's a 50% chance of him rolling better.

It is worth a try, he is already the one that has the highest initiative. We risk nothing and has everything to gain.

Just take the reroll if he tries to do anything fancy to stop Sarcon.

Otherwise, make sure he doesn't run too far away.

Actually, if he rolls even 1 better, he will go before Crystal (as he would win a tie), so we would lose something.

I would rather save it to make him fail a save or cancel a crit.

Victor, I generally lump companions, etc into the owner's initiative. So yes, on your turn is fine.

I assume that my invisibility spell is still active and that I would start 30 ft away from my own group instead then. Right?


No, this would pre-empt your spell as it would be before the heroes walked away. From what I'm hearing, Sarcon isn't letting them wander off 50 feet and then charging up behind them with his sword, he's just whipping it out.
Which, worth mentioning, unless he already had it out (which would be rather inappropriate for a public gathering and may have triggered initiative in and of itself), he'd need quickdraw to make an attack in the surprise round (since you get only one move or standard, not both).


Now might be a good time for everyone to take another look at the "death" spoiler in campaign info.

or a partial charge.
Also, sometimes you just gotta whip it out and let em have it.


Partial charge doesn't involve drawing a weapon. You could just go for a surprise headbutt though. That'd be pretty awesome.

huh...Well i guess it's a good thing i keep the knife from my cooking kit in my spring loaded wrist sheath, isn't it.

although that does lower my damage considerably.
damage: 1d4 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8


You actually don't even get a swift action in a surprise round if I remember right.

Chaps, I have just checked in the Roll20 page and I can hit their ENTIRE team with a Create Pit spell, which could mean that I take out two or three of them with a spell for a few rounds. The issue is that since Sarcon is going into melee with them as well, he might be affected. Do I take the risk?

If you go for the Create Pit, then I will say this: Hit Sarcon.

This is purely as a player thought.
If we hit Sarcon and immobilize him, then we can go like "Sorry about that" and be on our way... If you hit all of them (Maybe Garroth jumps out and so does Ransaq... Properly) then they will still view it as a very hostile move.

But Character wise, I can't see why you should try to stop them from spreading out and doing stuff to us, won't that just make it easier for us to slaughter them?

I think we're past the 'my bad, dog' stage. Besides, Crystal is feeling every bit as murderous as Sarcon and approves of his 'plan'.

I would suggest altering the pit AOE to not include Sarcon. The elf and half-Orc are likely to avoid it, anyway, so concentrate on the other 3.

Sorry, most of my posting is done from work. Refreshing a web site and typing are one thing. Setting up a Skype account would require Administrative passwords, etc, and I think "I really want to kill the good guys in this game I'm playing" probably wouldn't make the IT guys very likely to make an exception. Unless they play online too. These guys probably don't. Don't worry...just pass along the meat to me and I'll be happy to contribute. You can PM me, if you're worried about our Hero friends spying...I check my mail regularly, as you know.

My honest opinion is that the discussions shouldn't be used once combat starts, anyway. Unless our characters have 'message', 'telepathy', or some other thing going on, we would have to be communicating by voice, which of course would give our enemies a chance to react. But that's how it would play out IRL. Just a rant, no worries. LOL
