I make about 75% of my posts on my iPad/iPhone so I can't edit the map for those posts. When I'm in the office, I can use my office computer to move my token around then.

Ronen Carst |

Sorry Grimmy finally posted something. I didn't get a chance over the wknd but I'm hoping to get a few posts off each day before I leave. That's my intent anyhow.

Erin the Cursed |

No worries. I need to find a scene i can enter her in. either in her masked form, but then she won't join the party just yet. Or her normal "bubbly self"

Erin the Cursed |

Sure. But that she will do masked. =^^=

Ok guys a couple quick thoughts to share.
It didn't fully dawn on me until now but this character Erin has some heavy duty mature themes going on. The idea of her being a cold killer when she wears a mask but essentially an innocent young girl without the mask touches on things like dissociative identity disorder. A game with strangers on the internet who are bound to have various comfort levels with such things is not the place to delve deeply into such a weighty and potentially disturbing topic.
Seth I'm not saying to scrap your character, but I would like it if you could find a way to play down the fragmented psyche aspect somewhat so this can stay a general audience PG kind of affair. I'm not doubting that you are capable of a mature and compassionate take on this character, but even a mature and compassionate take on a character with a shattered psyche and a severely traumatic personal history is something I'm realizing I don't want to be confronted with day in and day out in a light hearted game I play as a fun escape from the stresses of the real world.
So Seth, I guess what I'm saying is, you don't have to scrap your backstory or anything, if you can just kind of keep it "off screen" for me. I'm afraid that story deserves a novel or movie or series of it's own and it's just not going to slot well into the collaborative storytelling medium of a pathfinder game without stealing the whole focus and altering the whole tone.
I'm sorry this didn't occur to me earlier and I hope you still have a desire to play Erin as the party rogue with tiefling blood, I just don't want to go deep into the split-personality/killer for hire stuff. I'm realizing it is just too weighty of a subject.
This just kind of dawned on me when your character appeared and I'm looking at the tableau wondering gee, how on earth are Ronen and Erin going to stay in character here without this devolving into PvP?
So what I propose is you two RP a bit, and if necessary I will provide the tried and true method of bringing unlikely bedfellows together... zombies!!
The rest of you, if you think I'm over-reacting let me know, maybe the story of a split-personality young girl killer is suitable for our game to explore somewhere down the line, but not now when we are essentially all still strangers. Hope you understand where I'm coming from Seth. It's the kind of thing I would watch and appreciate in a film, but a film is two hours long and then it's over. A pbp is day-in day-out for an indeterminate amount of time, so I think a little levity is required.

Erin the Cursed |

okay. will edit post a bit. delete it at this point if i still can and redo it. will tone it down.
but work now. so post will have to come when im back

Ronen Carst |

Hey Grimmy,
That very thought of one day Ronen/Ares and Erin being engaged in a PvP battle seems forseeable, but if I remember right Erin's identity was to be hidden from everyone. How long it remains hidden I guess would ultimately be up to Erin and yourself.
Regardless Ronen is LG and his first reaction is not to engage in a fight with Erin.

DM Grimmy |
Erin you don't have to edit the post, the post is fine how it is. I just don't want things like PvP or any heavy duty mature subject matter at least until we have all gamed together and know the comfort levels of the table better.
That's really what my long-winded post boils down to. But your post was A-Ok, I just had those things on my mind ;)

Erin the Cursed |

Okay. What if instead of the "switch" she just acts like that to dissuade people to try and link her two guises?

DM Grimmy |
Sure, if that doesn't ruin your idea that would be cool. Really I was probably worried about nothing, I just don't want to deal with PvP or anything too disturbing, that's it.
I just thought for a second Erin and Ronen were going to end up in a stand-off. But when I saw Ronen's post it all went smoothly.

Erin the Cursed |

Well. I did not threaten him. So if hes LG and not LS i think i was safe. =^^=
No it doesnt change. Can still play her. But it does make her allignment change easier ;) if that has to happen

1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Grimmy I echo Seth here. Stay strong and reflect on the happiness he brought to you and those you love.

Lilia Stinisen |

If you need to take time away and refocus things, I completely understand, DM. Take your time. We will be here when you are ready.

DM Grimmy |
Thank you Gerald, actually I'm in a good place now. I'm happy to keep posting, no time away needed.
I think I was a little too obsessed with gaming the past few weeks because I was looking for an escape. It's been a painful battle he was fighting. My whole family is very relieved he's at peace now.
I guess I just shared this with you guys to explain why i've been a bit more bonkers then usual :D
But yeah. Game on!

Ronen Carst |

Nice sounds like another mega dungeon?

Ronen Carst |

Oh Grim question what area does the Sinnar Region map detail? Is it the area south of Freegate?

DM Grimmy |
Nice sounds like another mega dungeon?
Yeah, stoneheart dungeon is a mega-dungeon beneath the ancient burial halls of Muir and Thyr. It's just north west of the Twin Shrines and the Crystal Lake, where Priss and Ares made their stand. So, it's a good candidate for a follow up adventure to this one. A lot of people use it as a lead-in to Rappan Athuk or Slumbering Tsar.
Oh Grim question what area does the Sinnar Region map detail? Is it the area south of Freegate?
Good question Ronen. I developed my map back in the days when all these modules were plug n play and we had to make our own maps to link them. If you compare your official maps to my one for this campaign, you'll see mine is not cannon.
Greg Vaughan told me Endhome should be like 800 miles away from Bard's Gate iirc. But I have it much closer.
All I have in front of me is Greg's color pencil map of Gulf of Akados, so I'm not sure, but I think you were correct in your guess. The Sinnar Coast map shows Endhome, which is south of Freegate in the cannon setting.
On my map, I have moved that whole region up, swapping Endhome in for Freegate. If you crossed out Freegate on your map and made it say Endhome I think you would basically end up with the same map as me (porting the surrounding wilderness of Endhome with it, like the Penprie Forest).

Ronen Carst |

Thanks Grim that's some good info. I'm working on my SoA campaign (btw nothing conflicts with the area we are exploring). But I was wondering if I should purchase the FGG one just to add to my collection. I also have a copy of the gulf of akados map.

DM Grimmy |
My other game had 46 posts in gameplay and 38 in Discussion today!! That hasn't happened in a while.
I had one game last year that used to get over 20 a day average but that game died. I think PbP is a marathon not a sprint.
Still fun to shred through 2 or 3 combat rounds in one day once in a while though.

Ronen Carst |

Now those are some big numbers. what's typical for a pbp. If there is even a typical number to begin with hehe

DM Grimmy |
Hard to say what's typical Ronen but if you check out the games forum here and sort it by number of posts it looks like only a few groups have made it through a whole Paizo AP to conclusion.
I started four games last year and only one of them really proved strong enough to last so at least in my experience it's tricky!
I'm hoping this slow start we're doing will be a good thing, once we hit the action we'll already have some interesting dynamics established between the party members.
I have the service tomorrow and I'm with the family getting everything ready tonight so I might not update gameplay with a post until tomorrow night or so, unless I think of a good post sooner :)
I'll be back full force by sunday at the latest.

Ronen Carst |

Alright Grimmy. I'm just about to post and will probably have time to post again one more time before signing off for vacation.
