I am picturing a fighting retreat, trying to focus on the mephit. Magic Missile should punch through its DR, if it has it. If I can keep pounding it, it might have no choice but to follow us, and we can get it out of the room. If the fire keeps healing it, I don't know how we can do enough damage to put it down in here.

I thought we were going to move out of the room. As it stands there are three srts of opponents: mephirt, elementals and fire trap. Staying in the room we are bound to get attacked by all three. Priscilla would need to disable the trap somehow at the least.

Right now the elementals haven't done anything but who knows how long that will last. I'll come back in the room and engage the mephit this round if that is what we are thinking?

Thats what I'm saying, in a roundabout way. Keep blasting the Memphis from range as we move out of the room, and try to goad it into following us.

Round 2

Reflex: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16

More burning energy hits Urrnir but it hardly does anything compared to the first. As much as she wants to charge forward and retaliate, she knows better know. Eyes locked on the Mephit she moves towards the entrance and draws her bow.

Urrnir: Move Action to map point, Standard Action to draw longbow.


Round 2 - Magma's

The two newly spawned elementals lurch towards Ares and Uurnir, slamming with molten fists.

Slam vs Ares: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
Confirm Crit: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
Slam Damage: 1d3 ⇒ 1
Burn Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 1
DC 9 Reflex to avoid catching fire

Slam vs Uurnir: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8 miss

The other two elementals hover by the exit, and continue to convert the steps leading out of the chamber into molten lava puddles.


Lilia, Priscilla, Ronen & Ares are up.

Lilia uses her Magic Missile against the mephitic.

Lilia then backs up 30', beginning the exit strategy.


The mephit shrieks in surprise at the injury. You see it eyeing the fire pit anxiously wanting to get back and heal.

I'm almost thinking this might be our best chance to kill the mephit. Should I xome back in or stay back? I have enough move that I can make an attack on the mephit?

If you want to make a stand and try it, Ronen, you can go for it. If you miss, next round, you'd better get back with us though.


Priscilla's sling bolt plinks harmlessly off of the mephit, confirming Lilia's suspicion that the creature is resistant to non-magical attacks.

Round 2

As he watches the others start exiting the tomb he decides to stay put. His decision appears to be a wise one after he hears the undistinguishable sound of the halfling curse echo from the tomb.

Gripping the handle of his patron's blade he relaxes becoming present in the moment. Whatever emotions that flow through him he welcomes. Dropping his blade into a guard position he waits for the others to come.

Standard Action: Ready action to attack any enemy that comes within melee range

Managing to avoid catching fire, Ares strikes true with his blade, and the magma elemental falls, destroyed.

As Ares backs away, the mephit snaps at him with it's jaws.

Damage: 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3


Round 3 - Fire Mephit

As Ares backs away, he feels his sword growing hot in his hands. The mephit flies back to the pool of fire and peers out with a wicked grin to see if he drops it.

Round 3

Seeing the mephit wounded and fleeing to the fire fills Urrnir with a sense of purpose. She had a chance to slay the creature before it could recover! She knocks and arrow and takes aim but realizes just in time what had happened earlier with Lady Priscilla's sling.

A deep, profound scowl washes over Urrnir's face. Her arrow had little chance of penetrating its hide, let alone doing so to any effect!

She spits a foul curse and instead turns to the elemental in front of her, striking it if it's in melee or firing an arrow at it if it's at range

Melee:

Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25
Damage: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11

OR

Ranged:

Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

She does not move further back however.

"I will hold until you are ready to retreat Lady Lilia."

Round 3 - Magmas

Seeing the frontline of guardians destroyed, the two guarding the exit in the rear of the chamber lurch forward, advancing on Uurnir.

I moved the tokens on the map, double move.

The gems in the eyes of the demon statues flash again, and the now familiar swooshing sound of flames and lava beneath the floor and behind the walls of the chamber roars again... The mouths of the demon statues begin to fill with flames and magma as they charge for another blast...

Ronen, Ares, Lilia and Priscilla are up.

Lilia again blasts the mephit, hoping she was wearing it down some at least.

Lilia then moves back 30' trying to stay out of the mouth of the room to avoid any fiery blasts in response.

"Come and get us you big chicken," Lilia yells at the mephit, hoping to anger the creature, and make it abandon the plan. "I've got a nice shiny Orcus necklace out here, and you might want to take it to your boss, if you can get it from me!"


The mephit recoils in pain as the magic missile strikes it, then perks up at Lilia's taunt.

Why don't you give me a skill check with that taunt Lilia, I can see diplomacy or intimidate.

We have Priscilla still up in round 3.

"Oh I don't think he really wants such a think Lilia, I think he just wants to hide in his little fire, to afraid of a few adventurers we will just pass him by and end up giving the thing to some other denizen of this lovely crypt"

Round 4 - Ixjavit

The leering mephit flies into a rage at Priscilla's taunt.

"Ha! I will have the amulet and you will die in this crypt like so many before you who were not worthy of joining their ancestors!"

Ixjavit flies out of the fire pit and stops before Lilia and Uurnir, swatting at the amulet to snatch it away.

Steal: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13 vs Lilia's CMD

"Ha! It's mine!"

From the sides of the cavern the eyes of the demon heads flash again and the roar sounds again like a great kiln.

The two demon heads nearest the party spit fireboats at Uurnir and Lilia, while the two in the rear vomit forth another pair of magma elemental guardians.

One of the bolts strikes Ixjavit, but he is n to harmed by fire. The other strikes Uurnir.

Priss says as she tries to slip back down into the floor hoping to talk with the little bat.

Urrnir hastens to shield herself from the flames but to no avail. Burning (literally) with fury, she lashes out at the mephit with a debilitating kick.

Bleed Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 4

Urrnir: Standard Action to use Scorpion Style (DC 12). If he fails, speed reduced to 5 ft. Also activating Stunning Fist (DC 12). If he fails the second save he becomes stunned for a round, dropping everything held.

Edit: Actually Uurnir hit hard enough to punch through DR. The mephit goes down.

Ixjavit looks surprised for a moment as Uurnir's blows smash through it's defenses.

It vanishes, returning to the plane of fire. The amulet lands on the cavern floor with a clink.

Round 4 - Magma Elementals

The magma elementals lurch forward, now four in number, surrounding Lilia and Uurnir. The two closest ones beat down with molten fists.

Slam vs Uurnir: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18
Damage: 1d3 ⇒ 3

Slam vs Lilia: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16
Damage: 1d3 ⇒ 3
