No your not -- no worries, a heal check doesn't immediately replenish hit points. It can stabilize someone dying or treat long-term. To heal hp sort-term you need magical healing. Either spells, potions, or Wands...wands are most common especially out of combat.
I think Lem has a Wand for the party to use, but he can't use it as a rogue, you can as a bard...cause well bards are magical!

Usually in society play the pace is pretty fast. Often no time to sleep or rest unfortunately. Sort of depends on the story and the sense of urgency but as a general rule we don't get many rests.
As David said I have a wand of cure light wounds that I purchased after my first adventure and can be used by anyone in the party that is able to use it.
Personally, I've made more mistakes than I care to know about, and my fine friends are polite to not point them out too often to me! Great job everyone!

Yeah, I figured there wouldn't be much time for rests but so far we don't have anything that is super urgent that couldn't wait 8 hours potentially since we are tracking down notes from possibly dead people. Hopefully, we can make time for a quick break but if not then I'll make due.
This would be the main downside for playing a lvl 1 wizard but it's ok as I'm having fun.

Karen your doing great -- sorry if you are having trouble following the story.
The first part is designed to show you that you are not alone as Pathfinders, but part of a larger organization with a deep and rich history.
And that the there are all sorts of thing happening in the world around you, like Sir Reginald attempting the test of the Starstone.
Then as you try to complete a seemingly menial task, you stumble upon and ancient mystery.
Feel free to post some questions if something doesn't make sense.

After reading the note again, do you think we should have looked a little closer to get the address for the gnome, Fimbrik?
It said that the address was in his files.
Since gnomes can live for over 200 years it might be something that we should look for.
Any thoughts??
What is the Initiative at the top for? I did not see it in my skills that Craig put on my pad for me to use. Thanks, sorry for so many questions!

The initiative at the top is so David has a shortcut to copy/paste for combat. It's just to make his job easier.
The initiative is used when we go into combat so there is some sort of order. Basically, when out of combat, we role play freely and don't have "turns". Once combat starts, game time essentially "slows" so we can take turns in our actions. Each round (which represents 6 seconds), we all take a turn in combat (including the bad guys). Each time you go, you take one standard action and one move action (plus possible swift and free actions). It's just a mechanism to help he game run smoother. In our imagination, everything is happening all at once, but maybe you just edged out me in doing something. To make it more confusing, in PbP, typically we fudge the initiative a little and have all of the PC's that rolled higher than the bad guys go first. It just speeds the game up a bit so we don't have to wait for each person to post.
Here's a good short read for the rules of combat. This will hopefully clear some things up: Pathfinder Combat Rules

Edit: Ha ha - Craig and I were both working on a post at the same time. Good info in both posts!
Re: Initiative - That's just a help for me. When combat starts, I can cut and paste it into the posting window and not retype it everytime.
Initiative is technically not a skill, it's more of an ability check, based on Dexterity.
At the start of a battle, each combatant makes an initiative check. Each character applies his or her Dexterity modifier to the roll, as well as other modifiers from feats, spells, and other effects. Characters act in order, counting down from the highest result to the lowest. In every round that follows, the characters act in the same order (unless a character takes an action that results in his or her initiative changing).
In face to face games every player rolls there own initiative, but in pbp the GM rolls for everyone, so they can get the combat order established and not delay the game waiting for folks to roll on there own.
Actually PbP is a great place to learn to play Pathfinder, as the slower pace allows plenty of time to explain how things work. So please ask lots of questions when things aren't making sense!!

No worries --
When Initiative is going if I say Pathfinders are up or specific people are up then that's who can post. I usually also try to bold the names on the initiative trackers.
There may be times when you want to wait to see what others do before you post, but normally just go ahead and post your actions. If things ever contradict in multiple peoples actions we can always back up a little and fix things, but it's easier/faster just having everyone post at once.

Great use of the Bardic Performance (Distraction), mom. I had forgotten about that, but that's a perfect use for it. Remember that once we are in initiative, we are turn-based so we each can do one "standard action" and one "move action". Your Bardic Performance is a standard action to start and you can only do one type of performance at a time (ie Inspire courage or distraction). You choose one type for each round. so for round one, you might start your performance (no roll needed) and chose (Distraction) as the type of performance that you do. Since the Distraction performance requires a roll, then you would do that. Then, when the second round comes up (after everyone, including bad guys go), you might choose to do (Inspire Courage) as your performance. No roll needed since you don't need to roll to inspire or to perform. We all just get a +1 when you do the inspire performance (and another +1 for the banner). Does that make sense?

Unless David says differently (he plays a bard, I haven't), there isn't a need to roll for the Inspire Courage. As far as this time, I think it's very reasonable to do the the distraction first and inspire during the second round. Maybe we'll try FaceTime this weekend to work on some details. You are doing great for never playing pathfinder before!
Chaosorbit

Yeah no problem - the distraction can come first.
As Craig mentioned Inspire courage doesn't require a roll. It's automatic.
Yep you are doing great Karen!

Well, I guess now it depends on what we want to do. Do we want to do with the priest? I would think we don't want to severely hurt her but may need to knock her out while we go to the mausoleum. It would be nice if we could do it without her realizing it is us. I could cast a spell but that would take out my 1 of 2 spells today which we may need in the mausoleum. Lem could try and sneak up behind and knock her out.

Karen - Ah..I see, you are a Prankster Bard. So Mock replaces Fascinate. Disregard what I said in Gameplay.
Yeah gang go ahead and get a plan together.
That may be Lem just tries it, while you are singing and see if she even notices him or something more elaborate. Up to you all.

Since the priestess isn't evil, I don't think we need to do too much right now. If Lem needs to be bailed out, we can get him. If we start casting spells at the priestess, we may get ourselves in trouble.
Could Flicker go with Lem and send Denizabyss empathic signals? That way, if it looks dangerous, we'll know quicker and can react.
By the way Mom, there's no "right" way of playing. That's what's so fun about it. You just play the way you think your character would react to the situation and have fun. Maybe when you're in town, the boys and I can run you through a face-to-face game to learn some more about it?
or should I have said @Kaeb? :)

Sorry everyone, I was laid out sick for the last couple of days. Ugh. Started Friday night around midnight. I slept from then until this morning around 7:00, only got up a few times. Over 30 hours straight!! Much better now. Thankfully, there wasn't any fighting going on in our story, so Crugeon wasn't missed to much! :)

Feel better Buddy - sorry some bug got you down. Hopefully you can bounce back quickly and enjoy your Holidays!

@Barboo -- that was just fine,
Wands are objects that have stored up magic, charges. Each time you use the wand it casts a the spell contained within and uses a charge. Each wand has a specific spell inside it.
So a Wand of Cure Light wounds has 50 Cure Light Wounds spells inside it.
When you use it, it's just like you are casting that spell, follows all the same rules for the spell.
So for cure light wounds, touch an injured person and healing them 1d8+1.
Since Bards are capable of casting the spell Cure Light wounds (it's on the bard spell list, even if you don't personally have it on your list), you are able to automatically use a wand with a spell from the bard spell list.
So basically, there is no chance you can fail to make the wands magic work. If it was a spell not on your list, then your would have to roll to see if you can make the wand work correctly (and then only if you have the Use Magic Device skill).
Let me know if you have more questions. You are doing great!
Oh and thanks for the birthday wishes!
I share the day with Nick Cage and Katie Couric; Jan 8th has a more interesting group with Elvis, David Bowie, Kim Jong-un, and True Dungeon creator Jeff Martin...lol

Congrats again - that concludes this adventure.
Time for the Chronicle sheets! Chronicle sheets record everything that a Pathfinder Society Roleplaying Guild character does over the course of her career and serves as the official record of each character in the campaign. You get a Chronicle sheet for each adventure.
There are 4 types of rewards on chronicle sheets; boons, experience points, fame/prestige points, and gold. I've linked a sheet called chronicle zero that explains a little bit about what's on a chronicle. Once you earn 3 experience points your character goes to the next level.
Here are you chronicles for this adventure:
Download them and let me know if they look okay. Let me know if you have any questions.
Also, shall the adventure continue? Let me know if you all are interested in doing another adventure.
