Yeah for this one, was just thinking the 4 of us. If Matt's a rogue...probably want a healing pregen..do you want a Cleric, Oracle, or WarPriest?

I checked UKCraig to inactive, so it should suggest Crugeon first now. Hope that worked. Now only post as Crugeon or it will will likely move UKCraig to the top of the list again.

Not sure if david can do it easier as gm but I'll try and explain. Under your name tab you should be able to see aliases where you made denizabyss. if you edit you cut and paste this string of info into your class/level field and adjust to your stats.
Rogue (unchained) - 2 / HP 15 / AC 19 T 15 FF 15 / Fort +2, Reflex +8, Will +1 / CMD 14 / Perception +6 / Speed 20 / Init +8
Then if you want you can cut and paste the stat bloc info from hero lab into the large block at bottom saying about xyz.
Glad you're able to jump in Tom! Takes a bit to learn and with each new adventure on here I usually have to relearn where something is.
Also, for me I bookmark the page with adventure up, like this page and then just go to the bookmark on my browser. Used to keep you logged in for weeks but now seems to log you out a lot. Hopefully that will improve.

Tom,
I just make a shortcut in my browser to the Gameplay tab. Once we get started, the other tabs usually are not used as much.
For the character stats, type the following into the Class/Level section of the character description:
Race Class 1 (Archetype) HP xx / ACxx-Txx-Fxx / CMD xx / Init +xxx / Saves (Fort+x / Ref+x / Will+x) / Perception +x / Speed xxft
It's not necessary, but it helps to keep the important info up top.
Still defaulting to UKCraig for my posts. I'll do a little research tonight...

Okay!
Craig and Matt thanks for helping Tom out!
Was an exhausting day for me up and back to Chicago, but glad to have Grayson home for the holiday.
Unfortunately, there is no way to get updates...I wish that there was. I bookmark my campaign page and it will let you know if there are new posts in your threads.
I suggest trying to check the site at least once a day. Most days I will post and update the game (I'll miss every once in awhile, like yesterday), so we really will move as fast as you guys want, the more you post the faster the game will go. Most games I run tend to last about a month to a month and a half.
I've played in a couple that last only 2-3 weeks.
Keep those questions coming as you have them.
BTW - hey Matt, not sure what was going on with your posts, but try refreshing if you don't see one, I've noticed sometimes mine won't show but if I hit refresh it's there. Also, get in the habit of copying your posts before you hit submit post. This site is buggy like crazy and I've lost many a masterpiece to an error after hitting post. I try to remember to copy, then if the site bugs, it's paste and nothing lost.

Hey guys, my mom is going to join up with us as Barboo, the excitable gnome bard. This is her first time doing PbP and only second time playing PbP, but I think she'll like it. David says that she can take over the healing for our party, so Kyra just left. Matt, do you have a CLW wand? Barboo can use that on us if needed. I think all other PCs have 0XP/PP, so no wands from the Society yet!

Welcome to the game Karen! Hope you have fun!
We'll wait for Matt and Tom to post before we press on to the Wounded Wisp!

Hi Karen! Wonderful to see you joining a bunch of nerds. Hopefully we won't embarrass you! I have a habit of reading the gameplay and not noticing the discussion thread. Was wondering who this Barboo was....a new person joined or maybe that was Craigs character and he had Crudgeon as a pet. Didn't know until I read the discussion thread. This will be fun, sorry to be the last to post.
And yes, I have a wand of cure light wounds. Barboo can keep us alive!

Both of our new players are doing great on the role playing! I like your character, Tom. I've never played with a diviner. That should be interesting to see how he plays. I've loved his dialogue. Can you give a description of his familiar? Is it the firefly?
Seeing how everyone is playing, I'm assuming that we are good for a nice roleplay heavy scenario?
If anyone is using HeroLab, add Bard: Inspire Courage (+1) and Feat: Flagbearer under your adjustment tab. Barboo will likely provide both of them for combat. That will be a +2 hit & damage and +1 saves total!

Thanks Craig. I'm still trying to get him figured out and how I want to play him. I'm good with role-playing here especially since a level 1 wizard is pretty well useless quickly lol.
My familiar is a male Rhamphorhynchus, a pterosaur that is a quick-moving reptile with a 5-foot wingspan, a narrow snout filled with dozens of needle-like teeth, and a long tail tipped with an arrowhead shaped ridge. Males are generally quite brightly colored, displaying brilliant reds, greens, and bright blues, often bearing complex patterns like stripes. Although tiny, the rhamphorhynchus is swift and aggressive, and its attack method of swooping down suddenly to attack creatures allows it to bite with increased damage and ferocity. At the end of a sudden swoop, a rhamphorhynchus is typically at a disadvantage, and most won’t stick around to keep fighting in melee, instead taking to the air once more to gain enough height to swoop again in a few rounds. Their tiny size, erratic flight patterns, and swift reflexes make them difficult to affect with area effects. A pterosaur on the ground walks in a quadrupedal gait; the tips of its wings arc up alongside its body, while its lower torso remains closer to the ground than its shoulders and head as it moves.
With the diviner, I'm hoping to go more for helping control the battle and not a blaster type which is why I went diviner with the forewarned ability (act in surprise round) with a conjuration speciality as well. Hopefully this will help us when needed even though I feel like Gulliver in the land of Lilliput at the moment. 8)

Ok. So I had some downtime today and tried to work up a little backstory on my guy. I know it is a little cheesy but here is what I have.
Denizabyss was born to middle-upper class elvish parents. His mother was an herbalist that taught him how to identify plants and make them into useful tonics and salves. His father was heavily into the magical arts and studied the planes and arcana. His father helped him to understand the relationships of the planes and the nature of the beings who dwelled within. His family was a loving family that sought to dwell in harmony with nature and the arcane. Denizabyss found that he was not only skilled in both but he had an uncanny ability to *feel* things before they happened. This ability saved him many times as he grew up but would also cause him to be a little reckless at times.
One day, a group of men from many different races came through his town during their search for a dangerous artifact. Denizabyss and his family welcomed them into their home where he found out these men were from the Dark Archive. They explained their quest and mission as well as the beliefs of the Dark Archive. Denizabyss was fascinated. His family approved of the men's quest and decided to help them find and protect the sought after artifact.
During the next few days as everyone scryed or performed other methods of information gathering, a younger member of the Dark Archive troupe unintentionally let slip the name of the artifact to a minor imp who had been called forth to provide information. On top of the slip of the tongue, the spell-binding circle was incomplete unbeknownst to the young spellcaster. The imp said it had some useful information but needed to be released, albeit briefly, back to his plan to get the information. After the allotted time, the imp communicated that it was having trouble crossing the portal and needed the young spellcaster to create some additional power lines on the circle. Feeling self-important rather than cautious, the young spellcaster did as the imp instructed and as soon as he finished, a major demon walked through the portal and easily overwhelmed the young spellcaster.
The demon quickly decimated the troupe but before it could get to Denizabyss, his father opened a portal and pushed him through. Before the portal closed completely, Denizabyss saw his mother and father fall to the demon. As he tried to get back through the portal to help fight his parents, the demon reached through and slashed Denizabyss with his mighty talons. The demon then grabbed him but while coming through the portal, it closed on the demon and severed his arm, thus releasing Denizabyss.
As Denizabyss lie in an unknown area bleeding from several grievous wounds and crushed bones from the mighty grasp of the demon, a small, brightly-colored pterosaur landed next to him. Denizabyss thought he would become an easy meal for the small dinosaur but soon realized that it was trying to communicate with him. The small dinosaur brought him small rodents and plants to eat. He was able to stabilize himself with the few healing potions and salves he had in his bag. He found out he shared a bond with the dinosaur and was able to telepathically show his new friend different plants that he could use to make healing and sustenance salves while he healed.
As he was healing, he vowed he would fight any evil he came across to protect others. He would also seek out the Dark Archive and petition them for membership. Once he was well enough to move, he started on his journey back to civilization and on to his new life where he would do his best to honor the memory of his mother and father.
The little pterosaur that had helped him heal would not leave his side and so Denizabyss named him Flicker. He felt this was fitting since not only did the feathers flicker and scintillate the different colors in the light but that this little dinosaur gave him a flicker of hope in his time of need that he might survive and continue to do good in this world.

Great background, Tom!
I'm still thinking on Crugeon's and will post the soon. In the meantime, I wanted to summarize what we've learned:
There is a ruin of Ninshabur with a treasure vault. A Mendevian crusader, Sir Reinhart, recently arrived and is playing the Test of the Starstone. He's also involved with Aram (who Denizabyss is sitting with) and is going to obtaining some chainmail rings for him? I wonder if these are linked? Are the rings in the ruins?
I thought i'd better post my thoughts in "Discussion" since Crugeon's posts are little more than a distraction. :)
UKCraig |
I think the chainmail links are already obtained from Sir Reinhart's armor.
Oh, I see. So, Reinhart got the rings for Aram and now Reinhart is going to the Test of the Starstone?
Not sure what to do. Should we do the Test of the Starstone? Should I go over and chat with the three at the table? HELP!
I'm not sure either. Matt/Tom - do you guys have any ideas? If not, maybe a GM hint! I'm feeling as dense as Crugeon!!
Chaosorbit |
Don't worry to much about the Test of the Starstone, that would only be for elite level characters not level ones, this first part is designed to introduce you to some fellow Pathfinders and set the back drop for the story... Don't worry about being THAT heroic just yet. :)
Chaosorbit |
Yeah remember the mission from VC Dreng -- retrieve the package...we'll be heading in that direction soon!
Chaosorbit |
@Kaeb - Yes that's something gnomes can do once a day and something to keep in mind. The thing about using it now is you are already in combat, so chances the spiders will listen is pretty small. They were very aggressive and attacked you on sight, so you really didn't get a chance to try to use it to get them to leave without confrontation.
But had they been more docile, it would have been an excellent time to make us of that spell. So keep it in mind for the future. Giant Spiders however tend to be predatory.
@Matt - when someone uses @ in pbp, it means 'hey you'. It denotes you are answering a question or directing a comment directly to someone and you don't want them to miss it. Kind of funny isn't it, not sure the origin, but I think it's an old message board shorthand.
