Hello all,

I am new to your group! I have been reading everything for the last two weeks, getting a feel for how everyone does things here. And talking myself into this. I am nervous for others to read my work.

I have a World I have been developing for a year now. And I have actually ran this Campaign for a year via Table Top with a few friends/family, meeting only once 3 times a month.

I am interested in trying it out in a larger setting for which it was originally intended. So I am placing a general idea here and see if anyone might be interested in trying it out. I know I am new, but here goes the hopes.

The world will appear a bit stereotypical with good guys vs a great Evil, but it goes beyond that with a vast world with many side hooks. Lots of player Choices on what you do and how you achieve things. Consider this a Sandbox RPG.

6-8 players
Good Alignment
Points: 20
Races: Human and Halfling only

Classes: Fighter, Rogue, Barbarian, Cavalier, Ranger, Swashbuckler, Brawler, ect.
***Special: Wizards, Sorcerers, Bards, Clerics, Paladins and Other Magical Classes-- Can be played with Restrictions at the start of the game. All spells are at Half effect, and can not have higher than level 1 spells for a length of time. *Ceana* Is the only Current Known Goddess (Inactive)

Equipment: Everyone starts with 125gp value of Equipment

The basis is the world starts off in a Low to No Magic, and Starts with only Two playable races. (But more will make appearances) There is a Prophecy in place that is a bit elusive to the players, a cryptic dream, a young girl in need of help, a world that needs saving, lost races to find, and Where are the Gods?

The Choices that the players make will significantly change the future of the world for better or worse.

Are you up for the Challenge?

(I will let this run for two weeks, to see if anyone is interested. At which time I will pick up to 8 players MAX. I know 8 is a lot, but I have a few ideas of how to move things along even if we are waiting on others to post. I can explain that later.)

Grand Lodge

you might want to outline how you want the characters to be made,,,20 pt buy or whatever, like traits....also class restrictions and such due to low to no magic in your setting. also any equipment restrictions and such....

Thank you Editing now then!

Okay Fixed it.
If I am missing anything else please let me know. I will fix it!

Thank you again!

Would you allow paladins as a starting class? They don't get spellcasting until later on in class progression.

Yes you can play a Paladin. Your goddess is Ceana. And you will be from One of Two Cities starting out depending on your Race.

I'm leaning heavily towards female human cavalier, but I'm curious as to what orders are most apt for this campaign? Are there any that are established in the traditional sense in this world?

Order of the Star-- currently is the most well known order, they are often protectors of Ceana few Churches and communities within.

Order of the Serpent--A private order who serves only One city and even then they currently only serve the Elite Class.

These are the only two orders at this time, others will come about through game play.

Each order also has its own 10 commandments, symbol, colors, and banners. They have Rank which you can try to climb.

Can you tell us a little about the two cities that the PCs can come from?

If you choose to be a Paladin, your from either Tykren or Asmerade.

Tykren-- is a Majority Halfling City (some humans) on the Lake of Zale. Tykren host one of the Orders of the Star, also has the second largest Church of Ceana. This will also be the Starting City. They have a large farming community of field plants including Tobacco and Fresh water fishing from the Lake. Transportation through the rivers are forced to come through Tykren, so there is a lot of trade as well as Tykren is the main center hub. The folk are open and friendly, they hold a Trade Festival Yearly.

Asmerade-- is the second largest human city. Resting near the mountains and not far from the sea. They have many outside area farms, ruled by a Queen at this time. They also have a Church of Ceana which happens to be the Largest. If you happen to play a Caster, Most come from Asmerade and a rare few come from two other cities near the mountain range. They have a rather large library, the city is divided into three parts. The outside is farmers, loggers, and miners. Just inside the city wall is poor to lower mid class, inside the High wall is your upper mid to high class society.

If you have any other particular questions I would be happy to answer them.

Order of the star is nice. Thus the next level of inquiry, what are the 10 commandments, symbol, colors, banners, and ranks?

I'll be submitting a human paladin, so Asmerade it is. Thanks.

Few queries:

  • What are the status of guns? Are they allowed, and how prolific are they?

  • What precisely is meant by spells being at half effect? Do we know how many levels before higher level spells are available or should we just take it as read that only 1st level spells are available until further ntice

  • Are alchemical items available as normal? Do extracts count as spells (i.e. they are at half effect and only 1st level available)

  • What about spell-like abilities (e.g. summoners Summon monster ability; I'm sure there are others).

DM Katt, I present to you Parnell Ludington, paladin and holy arm of Ceana. We can flesh out his backstory more if you like.

I will most certainly make a character for this later today, and though I'm not sure what I'll do class-wise, they'll almost definitely be a halfling.

Guns-Currently Do Not Exist. They are the Need to be Invented. It will come about during game play later on.

Alchemical Items- Same as Casters-Half effects and only 1st Level

Summoners-Not Currently Playable; Same for Druids.

Half Effect- If it is a Damage Spell, you roll damage and take Half. Spells with Duration effects last for Half the Duration. All spells are at Half their Power Level.

I can not say How long these Restrictions will last as it is up to the Players Progression in the World. Everything shall be Explained under the Campaign Tab, that I am starting to work on.

Its Different, I hope that everyone will be Interested in the Twist.

I will have this information posted soon under the Campaign Tab.

I am beginning to post a lot of information on the Campaign Tab for everyone to view. I have much more to post.
Please ask any questions you may have.

A lot of Updates! I have more to add, however if anyone would be up for some reading to see if I have missed anything at the present? That would be really helpful!!

Thanks.

I have two questions:

a) What are your thoughts about Background Skills from unchained? IMO it is a great option that help us flesh out our PCs a bit more.

b) I'm thinking about submiting a human fighter, a towering blacksmith that lives among the halflings and, to them, is a "giant". My build will depend on the existance of adamantine for his big hammer... Will this special material be available?

I read it. Seems pretty good to me. I guess it'd be good to know whether traits are allowed, though I assume not?

Also, for gunslingers, would you be implementing the optional "daring act" rule, wherein they can regain grit from doing things the DM deems risky and dramatic enough? And if so, would you let it apply to the Swashbuckler's panache too, since they're meant to essentially be the same pool? It's not a big deal to me either way, but it's good to know.

a) Background Skills are allowed, I love them. I shall include that under the Character Creation section in the Campaign Tab.

b) Adamantine Currently is Not a Material available-It will become available in the future. However you could use Steel or Iron. If you really want this Hammer as your Primary Item within your character I will keep this in mind for a particular situation that all characters will be coming across.

Traits are Allowed-See Campaign Tab-Character Creation Section

Daring Act- I am okay with the Rule used for both the Swashbuckler and Gunslinger in a way to regain Grit/Panache. You will find yourself in situations that will Require it.

Well, since an adamantine weapon costs +3,000gp, it is something that my pc would only acquire in the future, so I see no problems so far... It will, eventually, be needed, since I'm working on a Sunder focused PC.

Another question... What are your thoughts about the Combat Stamina feat be free for fighters? It is not really powerful but adds a nice flavour to the fighters... I'm planning a vanilla fighter by the way.

Also, I'd like to give my opinion since this is a low-magic game... Have you thought about the Automatic Bonus Progression rules? It works great to balance pcs and monsters since the normal CR system assumes we have great access to magic items.

As the game progresses, there will be a HIGH Magic volume and magic items will become more available. So we won't need the Automatic Bonus Progression rule.

I will not have the Combat Stamina Feat be free. I read it and it would be a bit to powerful starting the game with. Though it is really neat.

I am interested in joining this game..is the recruitment still open?
If so I would be interested in playing a human Swashbuckler?

Yes Recruitment is Still open.

<i'm off to work, until midnight EST. I will reply to questions and post when I return home>

I have information to post still on the other order, Details about every city and basic info on each region of the land to still place on the Campaign Tab.

Tomorrow I hope to get most of the rest of things Posted up!

I am interested. I will probably submit a Halfling rogue soon.

This is ImperialSunlight's character. He should be done now.

This is Gathrix's character- Pollyana Snizzlepot. She is an energetic young gnome rogue from the rivers off Lake Zale.

The fights are growing worse and merely being present no longer gives the desperate rogues pause. Podlow still holds on to shreds of hope but the world is dying around him and he wants nothing more than to save it.

Nice Characters everyone. I will be here online for a few hours working on the Campaign information. Feel free to message me if you like to work on Character Backgrounds or if you have any questions.

Off to bed I go, I do hope I will be able to finish the Cities tomorrow, and put info on the Order of the Serpent.

If there is Any Section you think I need to Add or Something I am missing, please let me know.

Dotted, I'm thinking of playing a brawler. As for our background, can you advance something about how the game will start? It might give an idea of where to lead the character's precious story.

I am going to Open up the Discussion thread at this point to give a basic view of the world, the area where everyone going to start, and a chance for the players communicate with each other.

Players-This will give you all a chance to see if you want to have pre-made ties to each other either because you have previously worked together, you are related to each other, or just because you come from the same town.

Any further questions about the world can now be placed under the discussion tab giving allowances for anyone else interested in joining the Campaign to be placed only under Recruitment.

Thank you.

GM, I intend for my PC, prior to establish himself as a blacksmith, to be a retired soltier or war veteran. He'll be on his 40's, already being married and father (even if his family died). So, what I wish to ask, was there any war for him in the past 20-10 years?

There was one between Osmered and Asmerade. Over land and Royalties. and attempted Assassination on the Royal Line. These battles and disputes did not last very long however.

There has not been a Major War. The humans and halflings have not really be around by themselves for more than 500 years. There are many areas on the brink of fighting at this point however.

There are however skirmishes bordering the northern section of Bastion Cove in the city of Valiene.

Also it is up to you if you want to say the family is alive or not. If you do say they are alive please give me the information as to what city they currently reside in, and approximate location in the city which their house is. What skills/jobs is your family doing? How many kids? What are their ages?

*Campaign Tab*

I ask everyone to Read and look over the Campaign Tab at this time as it is as Finished as I think I can make it for now.

There is a Letter written to the Players I hope you will read to better understand My world and Me.

Thank You.

I may submit a character to this. I'm thinking female human falconer ranger. Not sure where she'd be from yet.

Actually, what would be your stance on Kobold Press' spell-less ranger? Seems like it would fit perfectly in this world. Plus, it's on d20pfsrd.com.

Oh, do Humans and Halflings have each their own language?

Hi, Jereru here. I present you "Poki" Tipene, everything is done already but will change details as more things about the setting are unveiled. Tell me if there's anything wrong.

Pick which feats you are looking at and let me know and I will Think about it.

Jereru wrote:

No they do not have their own language, it is Common.

Sir Longears here.

DM, please take a look at Pyrrhus Durst! Let me know if everything is alright!

Dotting In. Thinking a Halfling Brawler.

I went over the histories of every character that has so far applied, and thought I'd come up with ideas of whether my character (Hamon, above) would know any of them.

Spoiler:
Parnell may have met him while dispatching bandits, as they are likely one of Hamon's most common marks, same with Podlow. Since Hamon works between the cities, he could have met either, but if so, only met them briefly, and went on his way, I think.

As well, he spends a lot of time travelling and staying in inns, so it's also likely that he and Tipene would at least recognize each other as regulars.

And of course he could have known anyone else from either Tykren or Asmerade by random chance as well.

I think that is a fair assumption Parnell and Hamon met a few times in their separate travels. Reading Hamon's backstory and personality, I believe they left with good impressions of each other.

I intent to add such meetings in Parnell's backstory.
