Nice Interlude with Belor and Monty.

Almost done. Probably one more round of exchanges

Well, I'm ready.

Ready, waiting and very curious to find out what Gerald will actually be like.
Reading the past 'introductions', the characters all confident, strong heroic types who seem to know very well what they're doing.

Gerald... I don't know, he seems kind of puny. He's never actually done anything or had any reason to be confident about himself. Hy might just decide to run away whimpering. But who knows, maybe he'll surprise me.

Belor may have been confident but I was watching as hit points went down to 2 and was thinking, getting killed off in the intro would suck!

Well I wouldn't say that they all are.

Nagual just seems confident because he was in his element. We will see how this stands up once he is in a far off land and the weight of his responsibility in on his shoulders more then most. He will probably have one of two reactions, he will ether close off around people or he will simply try to imitate figures from his stories... Just a stab in the dark here, not dictating.

Belor is one of the few in the part that I do see as the classic "Strong confident character". Though I love the fact that he sacrifices so much to make himself something different. He wants to be a scholar and an intellectual even though his natural talents lie elsewhere. I'll be interested to see if the pressures of the party push him down the path his natural abilities lay of whether he will continue with his pursuit of knowledge.

Also, don't forget you all have negative HP you can go to, sure you go unconscious but death is a little further away then you would expect. Technically you have 12 negative hit point before you would have dies, though past 0 you do start bleeding pretty badly.

Now I was a bit worried that our overlap may have come from Monty and Gerald. They both are bookish types. One is a wizard and the other a cleric but I mean personality wise.

If I may give a slight bit of direction (Take it or leave it, won't hurt my feelings) since Monty is more of a reserved sheepish character that can easily be coerced into being dragged along. Perhaps you should go with a more deadpan approach. After reading your bio a few times I actually have a suggestion for your actor. I would say that John Cleese would be a fantastic choice and would also help pin down the personality a bit. Perhaps he channels his fears into sarcasm, a habit of intellectuals.

Just my brain-farts people. Be sure to correct me if I'm totally off base here.

I'll give Monty till the end of today (once-per-day post is just fine by me, and it's thanksgiving) but if the time passes then I will wrap things up and leave a space for Monty to post his reactions afterwords.

That stuff doesn't really exist here, just another work day to me. :(
But you guys have a very happy Thanksgiving! Eat some turkey for me, too.

John Cleese, now that's a very cool guy to be linked to! I'm not quite certain I can reach that level of humor and sarcasm though. (And sometimes avoid making jokes in games out of fear of ruining the game by turning it into a joke.)

For now, I think I'll just see how he plays out... Most of my characters usually turn out different than I was planning/expecting as the world gets built around them.

Female Dhampir (Dayborn) Cleric 2

Happy Thanksgiving all!

Male Human HP 10/14

In my mind Monty is a young Don Knotts looking guy. Thin and unassuming but very nice and appealing in a nerdy sort of way.

This first taste of adventure has stirred something up in him and he wants more.

OK we got Izorshi and Gerald up now.

If I have misunderstood your character in some fundamental way then let me know and we can rewrite this intro a bit to better match your motivations.

Izorshi, I am assuming that you would jump at the chance to be vampire free.

and Gerald seems like someone who gets sent off for the boring archeological work while the Indiana Joneses of the world go on adventures.

Oh so if I were to give a theme for this particular prologue it would be Twilight zone, where the last one was more of a buddy cop tale.

From your profile, sounds like we both fall in the category of wanderers and adventuring dilettantes. Perhaps we crossed paths at some point before that we could identify, but we can wait and determine that after we get a taste of what our fair GM has in store?

Gerald, feel free to chew the scenery until Izorshi chimes in.

Yeah, I was kind of waiting for that. Don't want to hog the game all for myself.
As to the PM: I don't think that at this point, Gerald is really confident enough in himself to try fiddling with things... and naive/trusting enough to simply follow orders.

Edit:
lol, ninja'd on both threads :)

I agree.

A guess on your profile. You're impulsive to my cautious approach. I think we're going to be the comedy of the group. The trailblazer (you) & the pessimist (me). This may turn out to be very interesting.

Also the next two certainly have their hands full judging by that walking magical enigma.

Note to self: next time you might need to convince a large group of people you are not a vampire, prepare create water.

Male Human Witch (Scarred Witch Doctor) 2

Great story telling all - let's keep this up!

happy holidays all, I know that life gets busy this time of year so don't feel too much pressure.

I appreciate all of your participation and patience.

Moving forward I think we should think about how the group will work together. Everyone is getting their spotlight now so I hope we can have less "Look at me" moments that a lot of games are prone to early on that makes things hard to gel.

Perhaps you should start thinking about what your character might like about the others. It's easy to create conflict between your characters but if you keep doing to the differences then it starts making less and less sense why you all are sticking together.

Have fun out there!

Lol. Nice story telling. I can actually sense the reluctance and hope in these 2 characters. I hope when my turn comes I can do as well.

Well Gerald has a few options, none of which he may consider good. getting past the door will be tricky, it's meant to be used once then seal up to prevent followers. But I will give you this clue, the teleport has few limits

"At 1st level, you can teleport to a nearby space as a swift action as if using dimension door. This movement does not provoke an attack of opportunity. You must be able to see the space that you are moving into. You cannot take other creatures with you when you use this ability (except for familiars). You can move 5 feet for every two wizard levels you possess (minimum 5 feet). You can use this ability a number of times per day equal to 3 + your Intelligence modifier."

From there you can attempt to grab the lantern, attack it, attack the man or do something to Izorshi

Assuming Gerald's somewhat aware of what his summons can do: Could an augmented eagle (Str 14) carry the lantern? If only for a very short duration?

Well, that's tricky. It barely makes a light load (This lantern is cold iron, which is pretty heavy) But the tricky part is that your bird would have to make several maneuver checks in order to get out of the cottage.

http://paizo.com/pathfinderRPG/prd/skills/fly.html#fly

Female Dhampir (Dayborn) Cleric 2

Is this other person approaching in addition to the guy with the lantern? Can Izorshi make out anything about the new person? Or is this really in another world to the point where she can't see what someone outside the lantern-verse (i.e., Gerald) can see?

He is not the lantern guy and has vampire fangs

Gerald, from now on your teleport has 2X the range as long as you are starting in a shadow and ending in a shadow. It has to be a strong shadow at least as big as you.

Yes sorry. Christmas traveling. Getting home later today.

Izorshi, I forgot your cookie!

You get Blindsense (30ft) for any creature type with whom you have tasted their blood. You naturally get humans, but others you will have to earn.

You also get Blindsight (10ft) for a creature you have detected with blindsense that you focus on, focusing on the one for blindsense requires you to close your eyes and drown out any other detections with blindsense.

This is a supernatural ability from your vampire side that allows the detection. Thus ignore walls or obstacles that may impede your blindsense.

A few more exchanges and I will move on to Doon and Arkivolld.
