Looks good to me, it's all basic stuff can use to establish ourselves. Expansions can be made in the future.

Sounds like a good place! And sneaking into the shop for research, with or without Esmee knowing, sounds like good incidents to vaguely refer to but never explain.

Hyperactive Lazypants Bard 2

Hah. Awesome.

Female Gnome Cleric of Brigh

So that's where the missing berries from the garden are going...and all that time she blamed the bear...

Female Human Winter Witch 1

Wait. We weren't allowed to take those berries? ...I have some things to go and burn...

Hyperactive Lazypants Bard 2

*grumble mutter*

Just managed to lose my first gameplay post. I'll take another stab at it sometime Monday (sorry, my Sunday is filled with a tech rehearsal, work, and a real life gaming session, so I expect to have no time for PbPs or possibly be dead), but in the meantime, start thinking about what you're going to be doing with your first few days of downtime, because directly after the opening scene, that's what you're up to.

Female Gnome Cleric of Brigh

Lol @ Angela... This is going to have to be a new motivation for Esmee- find the berry thief...

To Viscount - No worries, gaming is for fun and relaxation. That sucks the post got lost but no rush, take care of RL stuff then come here and have some fun. We'll happily wait til you're ready.

Hyperactive Lazypants Bard 2

Oy. Sorry, guys, I swear I'm not just dropping this, but I'm opening a play this week, and my brain is fried. I promise a game thread and some opening garble will exist by the end of the week.

No prob. And ooh, opening a play! Break a leg! :D

Hyperactive Lazypants Bard 2

Alright, guys, we're off. I'll give you a little bit to react, chat amongst yourselves, and then we'll move along with your first actions.

Before that, though, a few notes on posting. I may or may not have mentioned these, but here we are anyway:

  • I like my games to keep all the ooc chatter to the discussion thread, including dice rolls or anything of the like. Whenever possible, I like these things to read like a story, and random blather distracts from that pretty bad.
  • We'll be posting in past tense third person (i.e. Eliam ran towards the house, robes flapping).
  • Use bold for speaking (i.e. Esmee commented, "Hey look! Eliam's running to the house!")
  • Italics for inner monologue (i.e. Angela thought to herself, Man, look at Eliam go.)

No big deal if we mess up on these, it's just my preference.

  • Male Human Scroll Scholar (Divination Wizard) 1

    No problem! Sounds cool.

Some clarification: Is the whole speaking line bolded or just the speaking parts? That is:

Boros said, "I wish I knew how he runs so fast for one of his stature."

    or

Eliam replied, apparently having heard the dwarf, "Practice!"

    Hyperactive Lazypants Bard 2

The second one, thanks for asking - I apparently screwed up the formatting in my example of formatting. Whee.

*cough* Sorry my formatting is all over the place. I'm typing this out on a 3DS. Laptop cable is broken- 3rd one this year.

    Hyperactive Lazypants Bard 2

Update tomorrow, guys, I'm falling asleep as I write this.

    Hyperactive Lazypants Bard 2

*ahem* and by tomorrow, I of course meant now.

    Excelleeeent.

    Profession (Merchant) for West Varisia Trading Company: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21

    Hyperactive Lazypants Bard 2

Assuming you're trying find out what they are, that'll work.

DC 15 Profession (Merchant), Knowledge (Local), or DC 20 Knowledge (History):
The West Varisia Trading Company is one of the oldest and most prestigious trader's guilds on Avistan. They have operated on the main thoroughfares between Korvosa, Riddleport, and Magnimar since the cities were founded, building their business up on the legal and illegal trade necessary between the remote region's largest settlements. Today, they still operate out of Varisia mainly, but have outposts and caravans headed all over the continent.

    Female Human Winter Witch 1

    Knowledge History: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12

    Well. They are traders.

    Hyperactive Lazypants Bard 2

    They sure are!

    Male Dwarf Cleric 1

Just to make it clear, I will be using Artificer's Touch to fix up the more important items in the Tavern. I have a total of 6 uses for the day, which should be more than enough to patch a couple of things.

If I could get a list of items that are important to the tavern, but are damaged I will gladly role for them if necessary.

    Hyperactive Lazypants Bard 2

If I'm reading that ability right, Babbles, you actually have mending at will. It's just the damage thing that has uses per day. So, pretty much, ten minutes at a time you can slowly repair basically any single object.

The issue is that the problems with the White Lion are a bit more prolific than fixing up the individual bits of furniture. Don't get me wrong, it'll definitely help (probably in the form of some discounts or some such in exchange for you using up most of a day), but you'll still need to do/purchase some normal work to get things back in working order.

    Male Dwarf Cleric 1

I wasn't expecting anything major, but anything I could salvage with it would still help us out.

    Hyperactive Lazypants Bard 2

Hah! Menacing merchants. Laugh Point for Angela.

    (Gameplay update later this evening)

    Female Human Winter Witch 1

I've also got a few mendings, so together we can at least speed up the discount.

I've also got putrefy food and water. I think mending is the most practical spell (Only practical?) witches learn, on that note.

    Male Dwarf Cleric 1

I think Purify Food and drink might be a tad more useful than putrify. hahaha

    Hyperactive Lazypants Bard 2

True, it might be. But that ain't a witch spell. They're not great when it comes to the nice magic.

    Female Gnome Cleric of Brigh

Esmee will continue chattering on, til someone stops her or interrupts her. Topics will continue like crazy. Moving from the nature of bears+cheese onto what colors match the Eliam's current face color as he bristles over being called young(normal people would consider the suggested colors garish and even clashing).

    Hyperactive Lazypants Bard 2

Sorry, guys, it's been a stressful week over here in real life. I'm headed out of town for the weekend to a spot where wi-fi's a little spotty, but I should have something up for you to play with in the next day or so.

Oh, not stressful in a bad way. Just busy, and I more or less forgot about PbP's in the midst of it all. I have several characters who got a bit slow this week.

    Hyperactive Lazypants Bard 2

Aaaand we're back. Sorry about that, guys, the internet was entirely gone from my vacation spot. Anyway, working on a gameplay post now, should be up a bit later.

    Hyperactive Lazypants Bard 2

...huh. And here I thought I'd posted something like two days ago. Apparently, I'm either crazy or the forum ate it. Let's try that again.

    Male Dwarf Cleric 1

Forum probably ate it, it's happened to me before. lol

    Hyperactive Lazypants Bard 2

Yeah, it's unfortunately common (so much though that I make a habit of saving my posts to notepad). Usually, though, I notice. Ah well. Gameplay post up.

I have an extension called Lazarus: Form Recovery that helps immensely with that! Auto-saves your posts. If your browser is compatible with it, I'd recommend trying it out.

    Hyperactive Lazypants Bard 2

Dear Gods, that sounds fantastic. I shall investigate.

"...given adequate compensation for their land and holdings...."

Eliam tries to look beyond the words and read between the lines. He very much doubts that the Trade Company is doing this out of the kindness of their heart for the rural communities--there's always a bottom line.

Though one reason could be that they need supply stops and people to man them along the highway, and what better way to do that than to relocate the people who've been doing so for them, does compensation for land and holdings mean that, in effect, ownership is transferred to the Trade Company?

...And anything else that would be of use.

    Profession (merchant): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24

    Hyperactive Lazypants Bard 2

Was that Profession roll to try and learn/know something in particular? Presuming you were looking for confirmation that the land and holdings would be transferred to the Trade Company upon receipt of recompense for same, then yes, that would seem like a reasonable interpretation of what's been said so far.

    Hyperactive Lazypants Bard 2

Hey, guys. Sorry about the delay, recently; school just started up, and I've been adjusting to the workload. With that in mind, I've got a question for you. Clearly, I'm having trouble maintaining pace on this one, even at the 'casual' rate I let you know about going in. Frankly, I can't see that changing, the way my life has been lately: full-time work, full-time student, and rehearsing for shows at the same time are putting one hell of a strain on my free time and energy.

I'm glad to keep this thing going, at the once-or-twice-a-week rate I've mostly managed to keep up, last week or so not withstanding, but I just don't think I can make it move faster than that. It seems only fair to give any of you folks a chance to back out, if that's too slow for you to bother paying attention, so here it is. I'm about to move the game forward again this weekend, and if you'd rather not be involved, we have a great opportunity for your character to take off without much hand-waving on my part.

Sing out, let me know what you'd like to do.

I'm fine with this pace. I completely understand your position and I'm grateful that you're willing to continue this game even with so much else going on. =]

    Male Dwarf Cleric 1

I'm ok with the current pace, this game was never intended to be fast paced adventure anyway.

    Hyperactive Lazypants Bard 2

    Certainly true.

    Hyperactive Lazypants Bard 2

Gameplay post coming tonight - if I haven't heard from Angela or Esmee yet, I'll just run them for a little while before deciding they've run off. If I'm being this slow, it hardly seems fair to decide other people have quit without giving them a good chunk of time.

    Female Human Winter Witch 1

Slow is fine, slow is good. Potions take a while to mix anyway.

    Female Gnome Cleric of Brigh

I'm good. Work changes and new mmo keeping me busy enough that I forget to check daily and then feel guilty. So no worries with the pace.

    Hyperactive Lazypants Bard 2

Paper due. Harder than expected. Teacher bastard about late work. Game post (obviously) delayed, but still forthcoming.

    Male Dwarf Cleric 1

    pretty long delay.
