The day of Angela Berger's birth was marked by catastropic meteorite strikes, whole orcish villages being burnt, and the universe forgetting the meaning of the word 'sneed'. All this is claimed by her grandmother, and almost never repeated by Angela herself.
Angela's upbringing was set apart from the rest of the village. Being a member of the Berger family, who had been in Speck since it was founded, her education was set apart from the regular school, taught instead by her grandmother. In her early years she picked up a talent for languages, and was taught the very basics of brewing potions, which Angela had a knack for.
Her only real childhood friend was her fox Nimbus, who seems to have recieved a double share of courage and eagerness, which Angela missed out on.
As she progressed through her teens, her father formally apprenticed her. Lukas Berger is a solidly competent witch, and taught her daughter the basics of hexing and magic. Angela's sister Sophie got into the business of working at the town armory, and despite Angela's best wishes she was encouraged to work in the tavern. Her father hoped it would do something for her people skills.
It hasn't really worked so far, at least she still won't start a conversation with anyone. But she'll sort of smile, and serve drinks.
But poor Angela has never been beyond the borders of the town. Nor has she loved another, eaten spicy food, been cheated on a purchase, killed a man, or been drunk. But with the town in dire straights... those could change.
As long as her family is there to push her forwards, Angela will always be ready to help the town!
