Campaign: Without Their Rangers (3rd Group) (Inactive)

Game Master Connor McGinnis

Sovereign Court

Many killings have been reported all around a peaceful riverside town.
Citizens have seen hooded and cloaked figures, and point their fingers at the Ranger corps.
Are they really the ones behind it? If so, who has the power to stop them?
It is up to a group of heroes to find some answers.

The other two groups of this i've tried to run have both turned inactive. I'm looking for people who can handle a post or two per day.

Requirements:
A level 1 Bard, Cleric, Fighter, Paladin, Ranger, Rogue, Wizard, or Sorcerer.
Archetypes are allowed, but only from Ultimate Combat.
A 20 point ability buy

Please post if you're interested in playing. Thanks!

Dotting for intrest will see what I can come up with this evening

Dotting for intrest. I have a scarred rager barbarian that might be fun to bring into the group. Just need to work on the ability stuff/gear, then will post here later.

A few quick questions: Why aren't we using archetypes from UM or classes from APG, UC, or UM? And what will the starting gold be for each character? The average, maximum, or what?

Liberty's Edge

Interested, but a few questions here as well.

Are the Core Book and UC the only books allowed?
What type of campaign is this...heavy RP? Heavy Dice? Nice mix?

Thanks!

Dark Archive

Dotting for intrest may be a day or two before I can post something solid.

Sounds like a sensible game... Core races and we're good. 25 pt buy would be awesome.

How many levels we planning? Helps imagine character progression.

Hmm, probably going straight fighter here

Sczarni

Dotting. Going with a cleric of some race. Probably human.

What races & alignments are allowed?

Human Cleric? Divinely refreshing!

Sovereign Court

I only have basic Hero Lab with the add-on for Ultimate Combat, so if there where anything from
the other books and add-ons I would not be able to check the rules for their Archetypes. So yes, the Core Book and UC are the only books allowed.
Starting gold is 150 gp, though I am allowing traits, so "Rich Parents" can change that.
I'm looking at a nice mix of Role Playing and dice rolling, though it takes quite a bit of roleplaying to set up the story.
All base races are allowed plus Aasimar, Gillman, Mite, and Tiefling. All alignments are allowed except the evil ones. Currently I don't know how many levels we're planning, so I can't answer that. Now I think that's every question answered.

If you need access to the other books for archetypes and other info, look in the PRD.

Gillman sounds interesting. I will go with that race. I do not have a class selected yet although it will probably be a ranger or rogue. I will begin making an investigative type.

One last question, actually: How will we decide the HP for our characters? Just go with the max at first level, roll the appropriate dice after the rest of our char. is created, or something else?

Sovereign Court

EXAMPLE: A Fighter is a d10, so he starts out with max health (10) + Constitution modifier. Let's say he has a Con mod of 2. His HP would then be 12 at first level.
When you level up take 1/2 the characters Hit Dice and add 1 to it, then add in your Con mod.
We'll stick with the Fighter example: 1/2 HD (d10) = 5 + 1 + Con mod (2)
The Fighter's HP at Lv. 2 is then 20 (12 + 8)

Awesome! Thanks for the clarification.

The Exchange

Is there still room, or is it full? It sounds... interesting...

Also, there is a free character creater that called PCGen that you can get the Core for and the APG. Even if I can't join, that might be nice to have.

If I join, I would like to be a Half-Orc Bard.

Alas, I am not finding the inspiration to make anything this time around.
I hereby withdraw my interest. Have fun everyone!

Does this character work for you? I used some of the alternate racial abilities found in the APG, but the race and class are standard.

Also, what is the name of the town?

P.S. Please ignore the fact that my Icon is undead. There are no pretty half orcs, appearantly...

I'm interested, but need some time to think through a concept.

Alright, got a character set up. Hopefully she works well in this group. Can't wait to get it started!

Truly, I hate to say this, but Barbarian is not a class he okayed. Is it cool with him first? More importantly...

"How you doin'?" *grins*

Oh....nuts. Can't believe I overlooked that. Oops. Welp! Back to work then! Disregard this character I guess.

Dark Archive

Ah just noticed the class requiremnts myself. Guess I'll bow out as well.

Not my friends!

Sovereign Court

I don't see a problem with allowing Barbarian. You guys are good. Thanks for making characters so fast.

Oh, awesome. Thanks Connor!

Sovereign Court

So far Sinque and Cilda are locked in. Now i'm waiting for one to two more people to make characters.

And now to think of a backstory and image...

There are a lot of rules on d20pfsrd from the books and 3rd party material, including most of the archetypes. I do have a question about what races are available though, as I'm in the mood to play something exotic.

Or I could just roll randomly (d8 for race, d12 for class) and come up with a gnome paladin (empyreal knight).

Cool.... so are we using average wealth?

Two traits?

150 Gold, 2 traits.

Oh, thanks. I missed that post for some reason... =)

Sovereign Court

That's a good character. You're locked in! Thanks for making her so fast. The last thing I want to do is sit around forever waiting for players to make characters. I would like one more person to be locked in (character made and all) before we start.

To recap, so far we have: Sinque (Half-Orc Bard), Cilda (Human Barbarian), and Uldumastie (Gnome Paladin).

One more woman and we can have:
"Sinque and the Jets!"
"Sinque's Angels!"
"N-Sinque!"

Liberty's Edge

Dotting -- will try to put something together tomorrow morning if the slot isn't already filled.

Sczarni

background:
My mother went to the heart of Westcrown to search for employement and ended up working for a young nobleman, George Theadoux. They eventually fell in love and married. Not more than 2 years later they had a set of twins, Georgette and Vondarth. Oh did this send a shock wave throughout the Theadoux family. Sure they thought the marriage would be short lived and end but now there where off spring.

Growing up we lived next door to the Delacroix family. They had tow sons , Quintyn and Lliard. Vondarth and I would have sword fights with them and even at a young age Quintyn showed superior skill with a sword, where Lliard was more into the arcane arts.

After sometime my brother and I went to study the arcane arts with Farsain. Fairsain is one of the scorcer's at the Arcane Arts Acadamy. Vondarth's arcane abilities were stronger than mine and I dropped out to pursue the fine points of simple and martial weapon combat.

My beauty and charm have helped me get out of tight spots along the way. I have began to work for the Taldan guards gathering and acquiring information.

I have forseen it...

S-s-s-s-Sinque and the Jets...

The Exchange

Vonzara I like your character. I can't wait to play with it and all the other characters.

Sovereign Court

Vonzara, your character is good. You're locked in. That's four characters. If no one else posts one by tomorrow morning, we can actually begin playing.

(Tirq/Sunque, i'm loving the whole Sinque's Angels and Sinque and the Jets thing. Don't think it's going unnoticed. I think it's pretty funny.)

Sczarni

Thank you Tirq and Connor. I am versed in Rogue and cleric lol I felt a skill monkey would help out the party better. My main PFS character is a rogue and I love her.

Liberty's Edge

I was in the process of entering character information when the boards went down. The whole post got eaten, so I'm working on reconstructing it.

Elf wizard submitted for your approval.

The pale skinned elf gets off the small boat and thanks the pilot, who turns around and heads back upriver. Looking around, he steps up to the nearest person.

"Excuse me, could you direct me to an inn? I fancy a spot of supper and perhaps a room."

"Sir if you come with me I can show you a wonderful place for a spot of supper and the rooms are divine."Answers a young human female with ginger colored hair. "They even have the best elven wine around as well."

I have never played a Bard before, even though I've sit on the thought of making one for a while now. So this is new territory in me running away screaming every combat. :)

Also:

As you walk by the middle of the room, you see a dark and green skinned man telling a joke.

"What do you call a deer with no eyes? I have no eye deer. Do you know what you call a deer with no eyes and no legs? Still no eye deer!"

1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21 Perform: Comedy

Sovereign Court

Caeradan is approved and locked in. The Recruitment thread is officially closed. We can begin play now.

Sinque, Georgette, Caeradan, Cilda, and Uldumastie can all head over to the campaign thread.

Sovereign Court

The starting post is up.
