You can precisely mimic the physical features of any individual you have encountered. When you use your racial change shape ability, you can attempt to take the form of an individual, granting you a +10 circumstance bonus on Disguise checks made to fool others with your impersonation.

Also, technically, she doesn't even have to make a disguise check to appear human anymore, due to racial trait of Naturalized (plus gains +10 bluff bonus if anyone questions her humanity).

Basically, she has over the years observed travelers on their way through the city, and then memorized their features, then a year or two later, if they don't come back, she takes on their appearance.

Probably next level, I'll take a level in a 8 skill class and throw some bluff ranks in, but thus far she's not had to lie much since she usually changes her appearance regularly to avoid trouble.

Male Human Natural Werehawk Incanter 2

Welcome Rhun

It seems like Igdus is your natural counter. He has high perception and high sense motive. Being a careful, watchful, and cynical bastard that he is. But he is also secretive so even if he catches you as long as you give him no reason he won't leak any secrets. He already may have found a whopper but without proof or reason we may never know. xD

P.S. A natural 20 will beat any mod in opposed skills. Keep that in mind when your bluffing and disguising. It's one of the reasons Igdus went diplomacy over bluff. He can dodge questions and twist words so that he never has to lie. Hope we don't run into any lawyers. ;)

Is that a house rule? Because it certainly isn't core that skill checks auto succeed on a natural 20.

I did not House Rule that one.

In fact in PvP it often leads to friction as I learned first hand very recently!

Ah, so then it is not the case that 20's are automatic successes on skill checks. That's good, as we avoid the sillyness of someone taking 20 on an Acrobatics check to leap to the moon.

Male Human Natural Werehawk Incanter 2

You can't take 20 on opposed skill checks normally as far as I know. Some skills you can never take 20 at all like knowledge checks I think.

Anyways without looking at your stats I can't say if your detection proof or anything.

As far as scent goes, you can't change your smell even with shape changing abilities. Unless it's something like changing from a humanoid into a reptile type thing and even then that's iffy as scents are picked up as much from environment, items, and such as from being given off. Their is a spell called negate aroma that deals with that little flaw so you can pick up a wand/item of that to deal with it.

I played a high level game with a player whose PC was obsessed about remaining undetected. Had a bunch of magical items and abilities to make them detection proof. Sadly that didn't do much in combat but they were pretty strong on that front too regardless. x)

Disclaimer: Unless the DM says so, all hail the DM! :P

Agreed, it's up to the GM.

I never said you could take 20 on an opposed skill check. Last time I checked, acrobatics to leap to the moon is not an opposed skill check.

The point still stands though, that a 20 on a skill check is not an 'auto win' as you stated earlier. You still have to beat the actual DC even with a 20.

Hey Rhun, just curious, how do you have a +25 disguise at level 1?

+10 to appear as any specific humanoid she's ever met (Kitsune Feat)
+10 to appear as a humanoid in general (Kitsune Trait)

They are two different sources, and two different types (circumstance vs Racial).

A second Kitsune trait means she doesn't even need to make a disguise check to pass for human (she auto succeeds) so the disguise check is really only needed when she tries to fool someone into thinking she's a specific person. Beyond that, she just 'is' humanoid.

Male Human Natural Werehawk Incanter 2

Ah alright that makes sense. It's a certain bonus for certain situations thing. Not a flat mod. I have heard of some specialized builds but nothing that high, had me wondering. Still that feat seems a little lackluster, familiarity can hamstring it bad. Skill focus or deceitful seem better but guess it really depends on a lot of stuff in game. That second trait seems to remove the need for the +10 to appear human as well. So you can't be exposed as a nonhuman via perception and improving your bluff ability should you claim to be human. Handy.

Yep, Rhun's basically spent several years memorizing people in town, so she can impersonate them, usually people travelling through the city on business. It's easier to mimic someone than it is to try to make up a new person out of whole cloth.

The feat also let's her change gender (wording is she can impersonate anyone, so gender shifting seems to be the accepted interpretation for that).

Rhun's not taken any Bluff so far because she hasn't needed to. I do plan on getting some Bluff bonuses down the road. But with the ability to change her appearance basically at will, she hasn't really needed to bluff anyone so far. And with the trait, nobody even thinks she's not human unless they see something odd.

Question to the GM : Most were's only have 2 forms, hybrid and animal, beyond the Human one.

Rhun has four beyond the human one (Hybrid, Bat, Kitsune, and Fox). With Kitsune being almost like a hybrid fox/human, does her DR also apply in Kitsune/Fox forms? Or just the ManBat and Bat form?

Male Human Natural Werehawk Incanter 2

Not the DM but the template states it only applies to hybrid and animal form. Going strictly off the template I would say that applies only to forms connected to said template. Otherwise any shapechanging spell or ability (druids wildshape for example) would benefit from the DR.

You could argue and say only natural shape shifting forms benefit from it as a PC race. In which case only the fox form being an animal form would be added on. Sense Kitsune are not hybrids rather just a race in themselves.

Unless the DM changed it and I missed it. DR should never be applied to your humanoid form. Sense that is your "original" form. But he did make a few house rules along the way. We may want to collect those somewhere. x)

I'm good with any way he wants to rule it. There's advantages to it no matter what. If she doesn't have DR in fox/kitsune form, then she can 'prove' she's not a were by handling silver in her fox 'hybrid' and animal forms. Basically, additional ways to get out of being caught out as a lycan.

But yes, I had assumed the human form no matter what wouldn't have it.

Will be posting tomorrow. Sorry for the pause, still trying to get back into form.

Just the ManBat and Bat Forms as the standard Kitsune does not have DR, at least not that I have seen from my short search into the Race.

Oh, Rhun doesn't go around advertising she's a double shape shifter either. Very few people know that at all, and only slightly more know she can change her human appearance.

Having a fox form in reserve has saved her more than once. It's very hard to track something that can vanish through openings the size a fox can when you're the size of a man or a horse. :)

You can be as suicidal as you wish. Rhun didn't grow up to be a cute fox by pushing her nose into bear traps.

Male Human Natural Werehawk Incanter 2

Igdus is a sniper really. He has insane range and mobility with the senses to make use of them. But he is a cautious and deep thinking sort so he will hold back and keep things in reserve as much as he can. But once something is out of the bag and their is no point. He won't bother and build his reputation as someone not to be trifled with. ;)

Secrets are useless once exposed, but that's when you plant fear or respect accordingly. Not looking for a fight but then again fights are rarely a choice.

What is a 'shifter' class? I assume 3rd party or something from 3rd edition?

M Human Shifter 2

3rd party. Here is the class, and the wiki has everything needed to understand the system. It's a different system of magic. Non-vancian, and my favorite part is how it allows for themes at any level. Low-level necromancers or polymorphists, etc. It also gets rid of the idea that any wizard worth their salt is gonna take fireball, invisibility, disintegrate, etc.

The same folks also kickstarted Spheres of Might. Same idea, but for martial stuff. I imagine it'll be like a more-well-balanced Tome of Battle (I wasn't super impressed with the balance of DSP's version of it).

Just a quick note, but ah... a while back, Mythweavers, where I make my sheets, have a memory error which wiped everything clean. So when we get to the fighting, I'll have to swiftly make Valar's sheet again.

Shouldn't take long, it's only level 1.

Plus, Valar's probably the only one that can actually go all out from the get-go. With magic being a thing, him creating claws off luna light would be weird, but not exactly concerning either. Magic is weird after all.

Rhun, you may want to talk to the DM. Your basically matching your stealth against all of our perceptions. Sense you are sneaking around while we are on guard duty.

I did post it in the game thread for the GM to adjudicate.

However, you're on watch, not sneaking around in the woods, yes? So you'd have to go into the woods with her for there to be any stealth checks vs perception checks.

My understanding was you were all standing watch in camp. While she's 100 ft out in the woods making giant circles all night like an early warning system.
