Azri, the Lich of Khalharum |

Welp, guess that's a 'no' on dropping Azri's Mortal Visage, then...
(Kidding. XD But she doesn't have the fear aura anyway, so it wouldn't make -that- much of a difference.)

Azri, the Lich of Khalharum |

Demoralize requires the target to be able to see and hear you... and I, uh, kind of permanently blinded the Captain. XD;

Nigrum Ensis Halfblood |

@Azri
Well that makes no sense to me. A lions roar is going to scare you regardless of you seeing it or not. Just saying. Anyways, if the captain is unaffected, his men won't be. It effects every enemy with in 30 ft. so still going to get a number of guys.

Selena Halfblood |

I'm...going to say that tomorrow. Bad luck to wish someone happy birthday early. :P

Azri, the Lich of Khalharum |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Accidentally.
"I'm sorry, officer, I didn't mean to use my giant damage die... it's just that he was an evil slaver, and I guess I instinctively grabbed the biggest damage die I could!"
"Tell that to the GM... *Hauls off*"

Azri, the Lich of Khalharum |

All right, so how would the rest of you like to handle those who have surrendered? Azri is neutral morally, and doesn't really care much if they live or die - but she would like to at least have a process or criteria for future reference. XD And given that she doesn't need to sleep, she could watch over them for now if need be.

Yao Mihara |

Mihara doesn't care all that much either, but would probably rather see justice served by those more deserving rather than by the (less-personally-touched) party.

Nigrum Ensis Halfblood |

Well Nigrum would want to get some use out of them. But seeing as they are all likely evil, he can't trust them. So he would ether brand them and make them indebted servants until they earned their freedom. Or put them to the sword personally.
He would of course give them the option of dueling him for their life, in which case if they manage to challenge him (inflict 11 damage or more), he would let them go with their lives, clothes, and a single weapon. He is not nice enough to give them supplies of any kind even should they win. Worthy enough to spare but not enough for mercy. That's how he see's it. ;D

Selena Halfblood |

Selena is conflicted: on one hand, just handing them to the authorities, freeing the slaves and keeping the ship would be enough. On the other hand, she would like to play "How far does screaming slavers fly?".
Personally, I would prefer if someone nudged her to the first option. :P

Azri, the Lich of Khalharum |

We could also adopt another approach I've heard about - define slavery as a crime punishable by death, but add that those who volunteer information that leads to the capture of other slavers (and/or freeing other slaves) can have their sentence converted to prison time, with a greater reduction in their sentence if they provide more valuable information. In short, give them a reason to talk so that others can be helped, and eventually task our armed forces with following up on all this. I don't think our characters should need to respond to every incident personally, so delegating could help. XD
@Selena: We're taking over the city. As far as Azri's concerned, her new family is the authorities. XD

A. Aibek |

Aibek's tried to nudge Selena into not sending them fling just yet, though not very well ;) If they behave, Aibek may try harder on the persuading for other things, but warning them that flying is an option if they do not behave to the letter seemed what Aibek would do at the moment in that chaotic-neutral-anxiety filled mind. Which is why Aibek's leaving that to the rest of you guys XD
Once we've taken over, Aibek would most likely like Azri's idea. On the boats at the moment, Aibek just wants this to be over with - if they behave, great, if not, Aibek will cheer on and watch Selena send them flying...

Selena Halfblood |

As I said yesterday: Happy Birthday, DM Jon! *Throws Confetti*
And yeah, Azri's proposal sounds solid. Posting in game play right now.

Happy Birthday!
I'm curious about the culture of slavery in the game. Are slaves generally captured free people or condemned prisoners? Ayreth isn't approving of either, but it might affect her caution, if there even any on board.

JonGarrett |

Thanks all.
And I imagine slaves are mostly people captured during raids and such. Typically criminals would be used more for things like dangerous physical labour where they could be more easily guarded.
Doesn't mean that they're all going to be pleasant...

![]() |

Now I remember what we forgot before leaving Katapesh: we need a wand of CLW. <.< Can't keep bugging Ayreth all the time. The fact that me and Nigrum can't get in battle healing as we have to drop the SR makes things a little complicated. :P
Ayreth doesn't mind. It's nice to be useful. I knew what I was getting into with a divine class. =)

Azri, the Lich of Khalharum |

Azri will stay on the original vessel - probably hiding so as to avoid being noticed by the enemy until she can surprise them. XD That's one of the things she's reasonably decent at, so...

Selena Halfblood |

Mihara will stick by whichever ship Selena picks. They make a pretty dangerous duo.
<3
Selena will stand on the ship closet to the fog bank (the captain's, right?), ready to charge.

Azri, the Lich of Khalharum |

Azri's spell has a Fortitude save, not a Will one.
...
Unless he's got some weird effect going that lets him use his mind instead of his body to overcome things. Always possible. XD

Selena Halfblood |

If the slaver captain is still standing after that, we may have to come up with a plan B. :P

Yao Mihara |

... and that is why I like the Rogue. Gotta maneuver into position, sure, but boy, the payoff.
Hah. Unnatural lust is always quite amusing.

Azri, the Lich of Khalharum |

Don't say that first bit around Selena. We need her to focus on the fight and gather field research on grappling Succubi get rid of that enemy.

Selena Halfblood |

FOR SCIENCE!

JonGarrett |

OK, I'm stumped. We've had some issues with the Google system before - NPC's moving when I know I didn't do it - but on this occasion I can't find out what's going on.
Nigrum's character was apparently never in the right place. I've looked back through all the changes in the document's log (it saves every change, so I can look back through all the moves people make) and Nigrum started in front of the wizard, one space to the left of where he said he started.
Nigrum, is there any chance you got confused as to where you started?

JonGarrett |

Well, the system isn't perfect. One of the reasons things like the hackbutts didn't appear was if you edit something in a box and close the window without moving your cursor to a different box, it doesn't save.
In this case, though, I can't work out what happened. From the moment Nigrum's token was placed until he reported the error it was in the same place.
If it was Google messing up then...honestly, I don't know. I don't really have the energy to make more complicated battle maps than this. I'll have to look at other alternatives, I suppose. Too many AOE spells going off in this game to get away without a map.

Selena Halfblood |

I'm personally not having many problems with the maps, but if you are I guess that the next easier method is using google docs and smaller images for character tokens: we would have to find a way to make some basic maps if that was the case, tough. :/

Nigrum Ensis Halfblood |

The only thing I can think of without google messing up is that I made the changes so fast it did not have time to save. I have been known to rush, silly work and all that.
Anyways I placed Nigrum originally to the direct left of the SW. Which was between the left most pair of S. I was not about to provoke AoO's and/or give flanking to the S's by picking any other spot. One S was to SW's direct north and another to his direct south with a free space in between. That's why it's easy for me to remember where SW and Nigrum was during the first turn. If Nigrum was where he was before the fix then things would not line up from the first round. So pretty sure about it.

JonGarrett |

That might be it.
We'll keep the maps for now, while I look into other methods. I'd like everyone to keep an eye out, though, for any hiccups. Honestly, in the other games I've run I've never had these issues, and the NPC tokens moving did make me wonder if we have a joker watching the thread who moves stuff, but...

Azri, the Lich of Khalharum |

I now feel kind of bad about giving up the fear aura, since Azri has her mortal visage to hide it. XD This would've been an amusing time to whip that out. Oh well! Now, what to ACTUALLY do...
