@Whack-a-rogue: Thanks Whack!

Truth to tell I'm looking to play a commander/tactician/leader, and Bard is the closest Core I can get to it. I could go 3PP, but d20PFSRD isn't helping either. I'm trying not to be too far out for the DM. Amoras Games did a Commander/Captain class - there is an old version in Homebrew by Drejk before he published it with them... I'll try and find it.

Basically want to wear medium armor and wield a martial weapon. I'm not really interested in the spellcasting - more looking to mix it in combat and provide morale boost.

I created this non-mounted Cavalier archetype, the Dreadnaught....but I'm not sure how non-Core stuff mixes with Mythic...

Mythic is like another class where you just add on stuff like extra die rolls or items of that sort. You can run the non-core classes and i'm pretty sure I can accept them.

Are we starting 1st tier or will that happen in game?

Brad, thanks for the offer to host a game. I was more interested in a full campaign, particularly WotR, so I'm going to bow out. Best of luck to you and your (eventual) group.

That was Kana who posted the info about mythic rules. We happen to have the same avatar.

I don't have a problem with skipping on the synthesist. I'll make an inquisitor instead.

Is there any preference on where we should have our character sheets hosted?

Storycrafter - the Worldworld Incursion is part 1 of Wrath of the Righteous.

Actually I'm going to go with Cheapy's non-mounted [http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/base-classes/cavalier/archetypes/rite-publishing---cavalier-archetypes/inspiring-commander]Inspiring Commander[/url] Cavalier archetype.

What you think DM?

I'll make up a cleric proposal tonight and submit him.

Pathfinder Adventure Subscriber

@Bane88 You do not start out with a mythic tier, and it is gained later in game.

-----

@Brad water not trying to step on toes, just thought I might could help answer questions. I've been working on getting ready to run this one myself for a group. If you'd rather I not, just say the word.

Urgh. Try that again:

Inspiring Commander Cavalier archetype.

@Story crafter it is a whole campaign we are starting with part one and moving on to others as we finish. Sorry for not mentioning that.

@Oceanshieldwolf Sure I don't mind it looks fine.

@Kana You can just make a alias and it will be fine. you aren't stepping on any ones toes you have actually been a great help. Thanks!.

Ok, I'll work on the character tonight and check out the Mythic Character Rules on the d20PFSRD...

Well, I am currently in a WotR game, but the GM last posted 9 days ago, and other players are starting to publicly ask whether the game died already or not. I try not to ask that sort of question until at least the 2 week point.

In another thread, I was just reminded about how so many people dislike playing dedicated healers. As a result, I was thinking about approaching this group with a Lame Life Oracle. Haven't really gone past that point, yet. Trying to get a feel for how lopsided an attribute build I am willing to work with. Normally I go pretty balanced, but a truly dedicated healer can afford to come up pretty short physically.

---

As far as Synthesist Summoners . . .. It depends on how abusive the player tries to get and the GM allows. In a party of 4, we had a Synthsist Summoner/Paladin multi-class gnome who started with a 22 Charisma and absolutely no Strength or Dexterity (but PLENTY of Constitution), because he got to use the Eidolon's physical stays in combat instead, anyway. If an Eidolon is brought into the world with the standard ritual, it stays until the Summoner goes unconscious (goes to sleep) or it is destroyed. If the Eidolon takes enough damage to banish it, the Synthesist can transfer from his HP total to the Eidolon in order to keep it around.

A Synthesist Summoner loses the extra actions a round that a normal Summoner can have (summoned critters PLUS the character), but the Eidolon can be a massively min/maxed whatever the party wants (normally a tank), and can easily be as capable or more than specialized PCs trying to fulfill that same role. A Synthesist whose Eidolon is a combat monster can take pre-combat buff and utility spells, and the party won't think they paid any price for the advantages at all.

If the Synthesist Summoner is on your side, and you are gaining the advantages of having it, it can be beautiful. It can also make your own character feel like it is back-up to the Eidolon.

Whether the choice is wrong or difficult depends on the GM's goals and the group dynamics. Some GMs want to run blood bath games where that sort of aggressive min-maxing is required. Others work with the player of such a character to prevent the min-maxing from producing a dominant character that overshadows other PCs, and simply meshes as part of the group.

The group I was in with the Synthesist/Paladin multi-class consisted of 4 very large personalities as players, and we all agreed that combat was something we had to get through in order to get back to having our fun. The badly min/maxed character that outshone the pure combat character wasn't a problem in that group. One thing our GM did, though, was have the player provide a basic description of how he envisioned the physical appearance of the Eidolon in it's "final form", and then as the Eidolon (and story) advanced, the choices had to migrate towards that form. This reduced some of the worst min/maxing he could have done along the way. His vision? Bipedal displacer beast, though he described it more as cat than dog.

Eidolons can be built to fulfill any non-caster role the party wants. Skill/knowledge monkey and combatant are both VERY easy to do.

hello all...started following this then drifted away then came back, just wondering if this is n actual recuitment?

if so, looking for applicants or not.

@ Edward Sobel - Yep it's recruitment:

brad water wrote:

The world wound incursion is the game I have chosen to host.

Looking for around 4-5 players PBP

At least one post a day

Any alignment is allowed but if you choose evil don't harm or mislead other players.

core races

20 point buy

level 1 average starting wealth

two traits

max hp first level

all sources are allowed if I can find them in a online source.

we are going to use mythic rules so if you don't have them tell me. It won't reduce your chance to get in.

Going to be be trying a druid for this. I'm on a kick with them lately that I can't quite explain.

@oceanshieldwolf You have some time before mythic tiers so there is no need to rush yourself with learning all the rules as of now.

@hustonj You can always submit a character if you would like and if your campaign does continue you can pull it. Thanks for all the info I was confused on the whole merging aspect but thanks for the clear up.

I don't believe I am a gm who runs a bloodbath and I will shy from making the encounters very difficult where you have to min-max to survive. I won't try to make combat easy as well so it won't be useless as well but it all depends on what the players would enjoy.

@Edward sobel Yes it is still accepting applicants and I will probably make final decisions at Tuesday or Wednesday.

Okay, I'll be going with a Diviner Wizard. Crunch will come tomorrow, as I should have a lot of free time at work.

I have an idea for a character but will need some work...

the concept is a lava gnome summoner/sorcerer that frquently disguises herself as a human child to get free room and board via the various orphanges and churches.

she is also using that as a means to try and hide from a demon that is hunting her but she has no idea why.

as part of her diguise she carries a teddybear which becomes her edilon and protector. the ediolon is the reason why the demon is hunting her but she does not know that (or even why).

thoughts or ideas re welcome...

Personally i like a bit of difficulty, but i also am the type of player who doesn't mind losing a character every once in a while.

Another question: can i if i have ranks in craft (weapons) get some of the price off of my starting weapons? I would like to start the game with both a cold iron and an alchemical silver longsword in addition to a crossbow with various bolts, but the two sords alone would basically consume my entire budget.
It's part of the character i have in mind. He's supposed to be a monster hunter, who uses specialized equipment. (LG Inquisitor of Iomadae)

The character in general will be anything but min-maxed, i want him to be able to go both melee and ranged and give him a bunch of skills, so he will be fairly MAD.

Okay, Oceanshieldwolf's character, Anowar Kharik - a Human Cavalier (Inspiring Commander).

Still need to complete skills, buy equipment, and write up backstory.

Essentially Anowar is a soldier, a mixed-blooded Varisian/Ulfen mercenary sergeant-at-arms come to Kenabres to find employ, and perhaps, renown.

@Threeshades Thanks for the info!. I would say for every point you have in craft in total can remove 10 gp on each high value item so we don't have to deal with the whole crafting rules unless you have another idea.

Alright Bane88's Paladin pretty much good, will finish fluff and final touches at work.

brad water wrote:

Normally you craft an item for half its market price. At least that's how it works with standard items, for the silver longsword that would be about the same result (the sword would be 15 + 90gp for alchemical silver, while i will have +5 to craft (weapons)), while for the cold iron sword (15 x2 for cold iron) that would completely remove the cost.

WotR sounds great! Given that it takes place at Worldwound, Nigri is now a female cleric of Sarenrae, healing domain, Touched by Divinity trait. She is 26, this is her story. Crunch to follow soon.

:
“Nigri! Let’s head home, it’s getting dark and your mom will be angry.”
“Shh... don’t make so much noise. We don’t want any of those bat-things from the Wound hearing us.”
“My point exactly, which is why we should be heading back, instead of going to that stupid altar again. Ever since you were eight you insist on going there at odd hours. Aren’t you bored of that place yet?”
“I like to go there because it’s so peaceful, but I told you, today there’s a really strange light, like the whole place is made of gold. Shaemod, you have to see it!”
“Whoever heard of a 10 year old wanting somewhere “peaceful”? You really are an odd one Nigri... Let’s get this over with. There’s the Sunwrought festival going on and you want to look at broken rocks.”

On they walked into the wood
They came upon the shrine
The altar there in gold it stood
As if untouched by time

A breaking twig, a nasty smell
The sunlight almost gone
And yet the altar gold it shone
As if by rays of dawn

A sudden flap of leather wing
A ghastly scream of pain
And on her hair and hands was blood
As Shaemod had been slain

To the altar Nigri ran
And hid behind the stone
The demon couldn’t bear the light
And left Nigri alone

In eerie gold the altar glowed
And on its foot a sign
This Nigri hadn’t seen before
A knife with wings divine

To Shaemod Nigri walked again
Looked into lifeless eyes
And suddenly he took a breath
Returned from his demise

And that's how she ended up being a healer, helping the wounded crusaders of Kenabres.

I will look into everyone's character soon.

@Threeshades I was looking in the wrong place because I just noticed the price I looked for was under masterwork cold iron but I found the special materials page.
I am not sure if I am right but this is what I get out of it. You pay 1/3 of the price on raw materials and then you can make it for the silver it would be 5 for the reduced long sword then 90 for the silver for a total of 95. For cold iron it becomes 5 then you double it into 10 gp for the cold iron. Am I reading the rules correctly?

Here is tyrran's cavalier.

In order not to overlap too much with Anowar, Tyr is a dual weapon figther (I plan to go sword and board). I still need to polish him a bit, but the essential should be here.

He was born in Mendev, and after the beath of his parents (both of whom were crusader too), was raised and trained by the order of the shield. Having recently hit 16, he left the training camp of Nerosyan and joined his first assignment in Kenabres.

You're right in that it's 1/3 (i thought it was 1/2) but the special material prices are market prices for buying the finished item. When crafted it should also be divided by 3.

Other than that Threeshades's Inquisitor is almost ready.

Born to a family of Andoran traders who lived in Ustalav near the southern border, Antonius Drake Cicero joined a Mendevian group of Iomedae worshipping monster hunters before coming of age, after his mother turned into a werewolf and nearly killed him and his father.
With a past of living in a village plagued by vampires and lycanthropes, he grew up to hate creatures of evil with such a passion that he swore to dedicate his life in Iomedae's service to hunt down such abominations, and suffer not a single one to walk the surface of golarion under his watch.

(avatar still pending)

A simple rule I have seen used for self-crafting mundane items before play is: If you can take 10 and make all the required rolls, then you can pay the self-crafted price for the item.

MW items typically can't be made that way by starting characters, nor special material items where the material makes the weapon count as MW.

The rule is fairly simple, and provides a minor reward for building a character with s focus on a skill frequently not taken. I like simple. I like rewards. Seems a good balance to me.

@Oceanshieldwolf Thanks for the correction, I was thinking of the last standalone module, which has a very different title so who knows where my mind was at.

So far it seems as we have:

Martial:
Anowar Kharik - a Human Cavalier (Inspiring Commander)
Tyr Daenori - Human Cavalier
Aaron Malleus - Divine Hunter Oathbound-Vengance Paladin

Divine:
Antonius Drake Cicero - Human Inquisitor
Nigri - female cleric of Sarenrae
Qorin - druid
hustonj - Lame Life Oracle
Bill Dunn - cleric

Arcane:
Edward Soebel - lava gnome summoner/sorcerer
Whack-a-rogue - Diviner Wizard

Skill:
Nobody

So with list in mind, I'm going to propose some sort of Bard. Someone has to stay out of the thickest battles and document the experience and spin the myths.

Drake actually also falls into the skill category, perhaps even more so than divine casting. he has 4 knowledge skills, perception, sense motive, survival, stealth and craft (weapons)

@Threeshades I think you can take the discount it makes sense to me. Thanks for all the help on the boards.

I will give probably inform people tomorrow or Wednesday on the status of their characters.

I'm going to have to drop out, unfortunately. Got too much going on right now to take on another campaign. Have fun, everyone!

I'm sorry to hear that but good luck in whatever you have going on.

Hopefully I can play, never been a Paladin before and am looking forward to trying it out.

well here is the prliminary character stuff.

will have to adjust her a bit bit there should be enough to get a feel for the character.

definately will need to drop the level down.

everything in the alias.

Galbreth is not classically trained -- a natural performer as a child, she was gifted with a decent singing voice and was always enchanted with stories of old she heard as a child. While not gifted intellectually, she was blessed with an abundance of charm and with her innate gift as a show person, she grew out of the shadow of her poor, humble parents herbalist shop and desires to spin her own story

The short and sweet is here is an archery based bard who's a bit of a loud mouth.

Sovereign Court

Here is Mario's crunch, background to follow.

Sovereign Court

Mario's background vignette:

Mario kept on drinking as the men entered the tavern behind him, their footsteps creaking on the wooden floorboards.
Spotting them in the mirror behind the bar, he reached out and drew a pitcher of wine back over to him.
”My Lord!” He called out with a grin. ”What brings you to this fine establishment?” He poured himself another cup and took a drink.
The one in the middle said; ”You need to come in for the debriefing.”
Mario sipped his drink, closing his eyes and smiling in delight (despite the low but affordable quality). Two of the men slowly started to circle around to either side of the room, their blades naked in their hands. Mario apparently took no notice, and did not reach for his dueling sword propped up next to his stool.
”Oh…. No.” Mario replied. ”There’s little to tell in any case. I precipitated a duel with Lord Aratelli as ordered, met him on the field in front of his estate, and killed him.” Mario ticked the events off on his fingers. One. Two. Three.
The footsteps of the men sounded on the floorboards as they slowed their approach.
”You really need to…” Began the Lord again.
”Did you know his wife was there? Lady Arienn? She was a truly beautiful woman. “
He took another drink, and then looked into the cup contemplatively. ”I saw her you know. As I stood over her husband’s body. I saw her look at me; then turn away and leave.”
He took another drink, then smiled again. The Lord was silent.
”I realized why the King gave the order for Aratelli’s death when I saw her. She was just his type wasn’t she? The blond curly hair, the piercing blue eyes…” He shook his head. ”I imagine he intended to sweep in and comfort her in her grief…”
”You are coming with us one way or…” The Lord began before Mario cut him off.
”Too bad she jumped off that battlement. That must have put his pimple-faced weasel of a majesty to some inconvenience….”
The Lord gestured, and the men lunged to attack.
Mario threw his drink into one man’s face as he kicked his stool into the other one’s legs. As he spun off of his stool he grabbed his sword and whipped it out of its scabbard, stabbing one man through the throat as the Lord slapped the scabbard away as it flew at him. Recovering, the other man lunged at the same time as the Lord. Mario parried one man with his blade as he blocked the Lord’s thrust with his cup. Then, Mario spun and knocked the Lords blade out of his hand as he blocked the other man’s sword with his cup. He spun again and buried his blade in the last man’s guts.
”You’ve done it now!” Yelled the Lord as he backpedaled towards the door. ”There is no place in the Empire His Majesty cannot reach you! You’ll be dead before the week is out!”
Mario leaned against the bar breathing heavily as the Lord beat a hasty exit. He cast his blood soaked sword on the bar behind him.
”Well, I suppose it has been an honor to serve on His Majesties Secret Service.” He commented to no one in particular. Then he remembered Lady Arienn’s face as she looked at him again.
He turned to the bar to pick up his drink. Time to forget again in the holy water of the Accidental God.
But as he tipped the cup back, he saw the holes punched in the bottom of the empty vessel. He dropped it on the bar in disgust.
He couldn’t even take comfort in drink anymore. He thought with self loathing.
Then, his eyes fell on the new poster tacked next to Cayden Cailean’s posted rules.
He squinted to make out the headline.
MEN WANTED
Fifth Crusade Against
Worldwound Begins

Mario leaned back. It had been said that the god Cayden Cailean would open a window when he shuts a door. Perhaps he could expiate some of his sins in a good cause…

Drake is finally completed.

Just to remind peeps this is my first Pathfinder PC, so please let me know if I've made any mistakes or omitted something.
Thanks

No worries Nigri - happy to take a look...
By all means look at the mess that is my Character sheet - you'll see I favor information overload compared to the Monster Stat-block style...

Now remember, these are things I'd want to see if I was the GM, but Brad may be less concerned. Your sheet looks totally fine, but for my preference:

* I can't see your Initiative bonus - should be +1 I think from Dex mod
* I can't see your CMD - should be 10 + str mod (0) + dex mod (+1)+ size mod (0) - so 11 I think.
* I can't see your spell DC or Concentration bonus
* I can't see your attack stats - attack bonus, damage, critical threat
* I can't see any of your other skill values - some can still be used untrained
* I don't see a domain, though that might be in your profile

Apart from Initiative and CMD, the rest is kinda a neither here nor there thing...

Hmm. Seems I haven't chosen my traits nor fixed up my skills. Thanks for prompting me by your post Nigri!!!

[EDIT - Still need to choose traits and buy the rest of equipment and add backstory...]

@Anowar You're a legend, thanks. Most of that stuff is on the spreadsheet. I'll transfer it.

Absolutely NOT saying my presentation is perfect, but here's an example of what I try to do (stats in the header varies by GM desires):
