Micaiah Aden |

Micaiah is rudely awakened by the announcement and bolts up from her bunk.
"Ahh! Late! Late! Late!"

Jack 'Bolter' Royce |

Maybe it's because it's 02:45 hrs where I am, but I think that I've still got Jack's skills wrong. Please check what I've done here;
As a Professional, Jack gets craft (mechanical) and craft (structural) as automatic class skills, 6 skill points, and the skill focus feat. He spends the skill points as follows:
- [1]Craft (electronic) > 1 skill point + 3 Int = +4
[2]Disable device > 1 skill point + 3 Dex = +4
[3]Knowledge (technology)> 1 skill point + 3 Int = +4
[4]Perception > 1 skill point + 0 Wis = +1
[5]Stealth > 1 skill point + 3 Dex = +4
[6]Use alien device > 1 skill point + 2 Cha = +3
Jack allocates the racial skill focus talent to Knowledge (technology) for another +3 there. He then has another 3 skill points from his Intelligence bonus. He allocates these as follows:
- [7]Craft (mechanical) > 1 skill point + 3 Int = +4
[8]Craft (structural) > 1 skill point + 3 Int = +4
[9]Survival > 1 skill point + 0 Wis = +1
Finally he gets an additional skill point from being a Terra Priman:
[10]Bluff > 1 skill point + 2 Cha = +3
Of these the first 6 listed skills are class skills, because they're what Jack spent his 6 points from being a Professional on. The next 2 are also class skills, as they're automatic for a Professional, although Jack only used bonus skill points from Intelligence to purchase them. All of these first 8 skills therefore get the +3 bonus for class skills. The last two skills, survival and bluff, were purchased with the last remaining Intelligence skill point and the racial bonus point. They do not get the +3 class skill bonus.
So adding in all bonuses so far, that should give Jack (marking all class skills with a *):
- [1]*Craft (electronic) > 1 skill point + 3 Int + 3 class = +7
[2]*Disable device > 1 skill point + 3 Dex + 3 class = +7
[3]*Knowledge (technology)> 1 skill point + 3 Int + 3 skill focus + 3 class = +10
[4]*Perception > 1 skill point + 0 Wis + 3 class = +4
[5]*Stealth > 1 skill point + 3 Dex + 3 class = +7
[6]*Use alien device > 1 skill point + 2 Cha + 3 class = +6
[7]*Craft (mechanical) > 1 skill point + 3 Int + 3 class = +7
[8]*Craft (structural) > 1 skill point + 3 Int + 3 class = +7
[9]Survival > 1 skill point + 0 Wis = +1
[10]Bluff > 1 skill point + 2 Cha = +3
Finally, Jack takes the gearhead talent as his first level talent, granting a +2 to craft (electronic) and craft (mechanical). This means his final skill bonuses are:
- [1]*Craft (electronic) > 1 skill point + 3 Int + 3 class + 2 gearhead = +9
[2]*Disable device > 1 skill point + 3 Dex + 3 class = +7
[3]*Knowledge (technology)> 1 skill point + 3 Int + 3 skill focus + 3 class = +10
[4]*Perception > 1 skill point + 0 Wis + 3 class = +4
[5]*Stealth > 1 skill point + 3 Dex + 3 class = +7
[6]*Use alien device > 1 skill point + 2 Cha + 3 class = +6
[7]*Craft (mechanical) > 1 skill point + 3 Int + 3 class + 2 gearhead = +9
[8]*Craft (structural) > 1 skill point + 3 Int + 3 class = +7
[9]Survival > 1 skill point + 0 Wis = +1
[10]Bluff > 1 skill point + 2 Cha = +3
Now, does the way I've done that check out? Sorry for being so long-winded about it, but I wanted to be crystal clear.

Asher "Yogh" Wynn |

Hello all. What a nice day it is amongst the stars. Yogh reporting for duty. What? No "Yogh" on your list? Perhaps your list is wrong, or perhaps our ship's computer insists on using my legal name... very well... Doctor Yogh... no? Fine, Dr. Asher Wynn, if you must, but I do prefer Yogh. Can't you change the computer?

Xzavier Chronis |

An elderly gentleman in a white uniform with military fiber vest swiftly moves to the Concourse, noticing the other members of Watch 27. He carries a briefcase in one hand and a small aluminum case in the other.
"Medical Officer Xzavier Chronis reporting. I understand we also have a tactical medic on the Watch. Good to have a competent surgeon this time."

Micaiah Aden |

How do you pronounce Yogh? Like yoo?

Jack 'Bolter' Royce |

Are we just about ready to begin actually? If yes, I'm ready.
Jack sighs wearily, rolls over on his bunk, and hits the transmit button on the terminal, "Yeah, okay, whatever... on my way, oh Lord and Master!" He mutters at the terminal and looks blearily around the cabin, "As soon as I find my pants... oh, wait. I already said that, didn't I?" He yawns and starts getting dressed: after all, if it was a real emergency the alarms would be going off just about....
AWOOGA! AWOOGA! AWOOGA!
Aww, crap...

Micaiah Aden |

Micaiah dashes into the Concourse and skids to a halt.
"Sorry I'm late everyone! Looking forward to working with all of you and my name is..." AWOOGA! AWOOGA! AWOOGA!
Wha... What is happening?
Love that alarm sound btw Bolter. It sounds exactly as it spells. :)

Micaiah Aden |

I see. Thx!

Micaiah Aden |

Well Micaiah would certainly appreciate the feminine hygiene products! XD

Asher "Yogh" Wynn |

Sorry, a few more questions, how much starting money do we get? Or are we rich enough we get what we want as long as no more than 50 lbs? And I'm confused about the reference to "floating skill points"... do we not spend all of our skill points, or are we just putting ranks into our class skills and spending the rest at some unspecified time in the future?

Xzavier Chronis |

no starting money, just 50 pounds of whatever equipment you need. I mean we're landing on (what I hope is) an uninhabited planet, there's no place to spend money.
And yes, any bonus skill points you have can be kept as floating skill points or used to put ranks in cross class skills.

Asher "Yogh" Wynn |

I had fixed my profile all up and got it all the way ready and then Paizo decided that it was nice to just screw that and re-route me to the main page when I pressed the "submit changes" button, deleting all my progress. It's too late at night for me to re-do my work, so I guess I'll get it up sometime tomorrow. :P

Get some rest my friend, I should do the same soon.

This is what I've got at the moment for a character. I think everything balances out in gear and skills.
On his 18th birthday he walked into the recruiting office, a short while afterwards he walked out carrying his orders. He’d been inside several times before, working with the recruiters on just what he was in for. Training went as he’d expected, as his father had prepared him for.
Six years into his tour of duty, Staff Sergeant Isaacsohn was on a detail escorting a Vex Diplomat. Until this point it hadn’t seemed like humans and Vex could share much, biologically. Robert proved this theory wrong. The diplomat was carrying the Vex equivalent of a cold. It was a minor irritation for him. He didn’t even think of mentioning it when he was approaching Earth.
For Sergeant Isaacsohn it meant the world. It cost him an arm and a leg. The virus reacted to human tissue far differently than it did to the Vex. His body began rejecting its own parts. He’d lost his left arm, right leg and half of his liver before they eventually put him into stasis while they researched how to save him. He spent four years out of the loop before he was woken up.
The virus was purged from his system, but it’s effect could not be repaired. His body continued to reject replacement parts. It refused to even recognize that it needed a second arm or leg. Artificial parts were accepted as well as ever, but vat grown tissue was fully rejected.
Isaacsohn was moved to a training battalion in the American Plains. He excelled as a trainer, but his heart was broken. He’d enjoyed what he did. He’d enjoyed the feeling of being on the front line. His aim hadn’t suffered. He was still fully aware of how to fight and win a battle. He was just shy a few limbs.
When the call for a training officer on Nova Ark Isaacsohn jumped at the chance. He was ready for a change and this was about as extreme a change as he could find.

Perhaps he'd wind up being a natural attack specialist? I could see him moving on to being something like a synthsist or some such... I may now regret going Int instead of Cha...

Jack 'Bolter' Royce |

Voice, at some point could you give us a run down on what sort of survival, medical and tech support equipment is usually pre-loaded aboard escape pods such as the one we're all bundling aboard right now, please? Clearly that knowledge is going to be relevant shortly... unless this is going to be a really short game and we burn up on re-entry, crash on landing, get blown up trying to leave the ship... err, I'll stop giving you ideas, now.

Edmund Oschia |

Sorry to show up so late to the Pod-Party! I've been somewhat tangled up in personal-life problems these past couple days, but I should be all good to go and keep up with you quick witted folks now!
Also, I'm very sorry to have not grabbed anything practical, I really couldn't think of anything Edmund would find vital other than what survival gear he had at hand & his sort of last connection to his family.

Xzavier Chronis |

Okay, all of the classes (professions) get a number of class skills equal to the number of skill points they receive per level (plus bonus class skills for each profession, if any). Period. These can't be changed or added to (at least not yet). All other skills are cross class skills.
Since you're a Terra Priman, Dr. Williams, with an 18 intelligence, you have 4+4+1 skill points per level, but only 5 of these can be put into class skills (The 4 you chose plus whatever Knowledge (science) you chose.) I imagine you can put all of them into cross class skills if you want.
Dr. Chronis has 4+3+1 skill points per level, placing 5 skill points into his class skills and reserving the remaining 3 as floating skill points (which can apparently be used for research). He could have, however, used the remaining 3 to pick up cross class skills.

Gunny Isaacsohn |

Alright, is it safe to assume we're all familiar with each other? Have we shared a week of watch before or is this our first shift?
Talents are out of d20 modern, right? I'll have to track down that resource at some point. Any recommendations from those more familiar with D20 modern? I was looking at an eventual fast melee combatant. Depending on if that vision can be fulfilled at some point or not.

From what Voice has said the members of Watch 27 had been out of stasis for two days before the biological brown matter hit the rotary bladed object. And I would find it very odd indeed if we hadn't all been trained for our respective duties together prior to leaving Terra Prime, probably for months. On that basis, I'd be happy to assume that we are all familiar with each other, at least on a professional basis.
As for feats, I believe Voice said anything from the core rulebook or modern were probably okay, but I'd run anything you want past him first. Here's a link to the feats from the modern path.

Micaiah Aden |

Wait! This is NOT a habitable planet?!

Micaiah Aden |

Well actually... I kinda did...

Micaiah Aden |

Alright, have to roll with the punches. Let me think...

Michelle Williams |

I believe I've got the skills and whatnot more or less sorted and in my profile. I'll format it a bit better tomorrow.
Though it's unlikely through raw odds the planet would be habitable, Williams thinks there is some reason the crash happened here, meaning there is an artificial inflation in that chance in her mind.

Jack 'Bolter' Royce |

As soon as the pod lands, Jack is going to start work on the vital repairs to life support, as outlined in C1-001. I'm going to assume that Micaiah will be helping, along with whichever of the other characters has the next highest appropriate craft skill. If no-one steps forward for that, Jack will have to insist, as you've said it's a three day or three man job, so he and Micaiah will need the extra assistance to get it done a.s.a.p.
Jack's crafting skill bonuses are; electronic +9, mechanical +9 and structural +7.
Micaiah's are higher across the board due to her higher intelligence bonus; electronic +11, mechanical +11 and structural +8.
Next two highest craft skills in the group are Asher with electronics at +9 and Isaacsohn with structural +7.
Suggested breakdown of repair work assignments; Micaiah does the mechanical repair roll. Asher does the electronics. Isaacsohn does the structural.
Jack has the highest Knowledge (technology) bonus at +10, so if allowable I propose that he oversees all repair work by making an assist roll for each of the others to try and provide them each with a +2 bonus, if that's acceptable to Voice.
Otherwise I suspect that my build for Jack, skill wise, is going to be wholly redundant... :p

Jack 'Bolter' Royce |

After checking through the character build guidelines again, it looks like I had a second Skill focus talent I hadn't allocated; one Skill focus for race, one talent for 1st level, and a second Skill focus for choosing Professional class. So I've gone ahead and added Skill focus (stealth) to Jack's build, pending Voice's approval of course. I thought we should have at least one no-good sneaky type on the crew. :)

Micaiah Aden |

Thank you Jack for catching that. I forgot about it aswell. Micaiah just got even better at crafting :)
