We've gone from 0 to 60 in a week, in campaign that has had fits and starts for 3-1/2 years.
A little slack while we adjust to each others' play styles would be appreciated.

Uriel Aurelius |

I hope no one minds me claiming dibs on the breastplate. Anyone have any other particular preferences? I think it’s safe to say we have no shortage of cold iron now, at any rate.

Darya Flamekissed |

We are sitting on a huge pile of healing potions that haven't been used.
I think going forward we should use these for post combat recovery so that channels and Lay on Hands can be used on the spot mid-combat when needed.
Just getting caught up

Darya Flamekissed |

So I wonder what would happen if our cleric casts Bless Water on all that unholy water

Darya Flamekissed |

So I'm considering picking up the +1 longsword and Blinding shield, though I'd rarely use either. Darya's primarily heavy offense with Greatsword, but if a defensive position is needed, she can switch to longsword and shield, especially if holding a doorway or something like that.
Plus the blinding shield just kind of fits her whole Holy Light thing, and would be on her back most of the time. Any thoughts?
Also I'd like to take 20 of the Cold Iron bolts

Darya Flamekissed |

Also how do you want us to handle HP at level up, and would you allow variant Arcane Bond? Ramping up the powers of Darya's Halo
Angelic Bond: As a standard action, the paladin can call forth an angel spirit that bonds to her, causing her to manifest a resplendent halo. This bond allows the paladin to shine light as per continual flame for 1 minute per paladin level. Additionally, while the halo shines, all allies within 20 feet gain the benefits of protection from evil, except the deflection and resistance bonuses are +3. For every 3 levels she has beyond 5th, the deflection bonus and resistance bonus provided by this effect increases by 1, up to a maximum of +8 at 20th level. The paladin can use this ability once per day at 5th level, and one additional time per day for every 4 levels beyond 5th, up to a total of four times per day at 17th level.

Darya Flamekissed |

+7 hp (+10 with CON +FCB)
+1 BAB
+1 Fort/Will
Feat: Greater Mercy (if no condition to heal +1d6)
Divine bond
+1 Intimidate/Sense Motive
Background skills: Knowledge Nobility, Knowledge History
Barring an answer to the Divine Bond question I'm all levelled.

Absolutely agreed. And I would have done exactly that had I been paying attention to the loot sheet this morning. :P
I need to get it cleaned up a bit, too. I have a much more modern Google sheet with some automation that would help our tracking tremendously. Will try to get that updated tomorrow.

Aberus Ocellio |

It would turn into normal water :P
...one pint at a time. :)

Telerin Quenya |

Dm, this character is based off of GAladriel. She has the rower elf trait and thus does not have the typical weapon proficiencies

Does anyone have any recommendations for what language I should take with my new Linguistics rank?

Aberus Ocellio |

Two things:
1. I am in the midst of a heavy work crunch in my day job. It's consuming a good chunk of my time after hours as well. I am going to be spotty through early next week. Just in time for #2...
2. I'll be out of town from Thursday, 1/30 though Monday, 2/3. I won't be completely unavailable, but I'll be very spotty while I'm gone.
:(

Got it. Good luck.

Our tabletop group has made good use of sign language in the past. Though the whole group has to buy into it, of course.

Divine Bond: Divine Bond (Sp): Upon reaching 5th level, a paladin forms a divine bond with her god. This bond can take one of two forms. Once the form is chosen, it cannot be changed. (I actually have to take the weapon due to my archetype, I don't get the option of a mount.)
The first type of bond allows the paladin to enhance her weapon as a standard action by calling upon the aid of a celestial spirit for 1 minute per paladin level. When called, the spirit causes the weapon to shed light as a torch. At 5th level, this spirit grants the weapon a +1 enhancement bonus. For every three levels beyond 5th, the weapon gains another +1 enhancement bonus, to a maximum of +6 at 20th level. These bonuses can be added to the weapon, stacking with existing weapon bonuses to a maximum of +5, or they can be used to add any of the following weapon properties: axiomatic, brilliant energy, defending, disruption, flaming, flaming burst, holy, keen, merciful, and speed. Adding these properties consumes an amount of bonus equal to the property's cost (see Table: Melee Weapon Special Abilities). These bonuses are added to any properties the weapon already has, but duplicate abilities do not stack. If the weapon is not magical, at least a +1 enhancement bonus must be added before any other properties can be added. The bonus and properties granted by the spirit are determined when the spirit is called and cannot be changed until the spirit is called again. The celestial spirit imparts no bonuses if the weapon is held by anyone other than the paladin but resumes giving bonuses if returned to the paladin. These bonuses apply to only one end of a double weapon. A paladin can use this ability once per day at 5th level, and one additional time per day for every four levels beyond 5th, to a total of four times per day at 17th level.
If a weapon bonded with a celestial spirit is destroyed, the paladin loses the use of this ability for 30 days, or until she gains a level, whichever comes first. During this 30-day period, the paladin takes a –1 penalty on attack and weapon damage rolls.
On Loot:
Now that I can one-hand my bastard sword, I may pick up one of those shields, but if someone else ants it, go ahead. Likewise I wouldn't mind upgrading my ranged weapon, but that's low priority. If anyone wants my old steel lamellar, you're welcome to it. Medium armor, +6 AC, +3 Max Dex, -5 ACP, 25% ASF. If no one wants it, throw it in party treasure.

I love how everyone is being so reverent and awestruck by the whole religious rite with Iomedae and Alexa's just determined to be as grumpy as possible. XD

Darya Flamekissed |

Thank you for reminding me the whole reason I took exotic weapon proficiency in the first place was to be able to go one handed when necessary

HP: 1d4 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9
+1 Acrobatics
+2 Escape Artist
+1 Perception

Feat: Two-Weapon Fighting
Improved Uncanny Dodge: At 5th level, a barbarian can no longer be flanked. This defense denies enemies the ability to sneak attack the barbarian by flanking her, unless the attacker has at least 4 more levels in a class that provides sneak attack than the barbarian has barbarian levels.
Is the gear specifically sized medium/small? Or are we handwaving that, and I can take whatever?

Uriel Aurelius |

This is GM-dependent, but I've always kind of figured that if gear's functionally identical to something else, you can use it as such.
IE:
Medium Short Sword: 1d6, 19-20x2, Slashing
Small Longsword: 1d6, 19-20x2, Slashing
So a halfing could use a short sword designed for humans as a longsword, etc. Doesn't work as well for armor, though.

I have moved our Loot sheet to a new, improved version. The new sheet is cleaner, faster, and more absorbent than the last one, and also 40% more awesome because it has some automation like hyperlinking to spells and (most) named magic items.
You have permission to add comments using that link^^^.
I'm not adding the items from the armory since that would be Bad Form and quite likely an insult to a goddess if we were to liquidate them for cash. :P

Thanks for doing it. It really helps.
And you are right, it would be a bad form to sell some of the stuff you were given.1) We can "upgrade" items you get a fancy of, so they remain useful in the future. I love the idea of "signature weapons". Or armor.
2) You can always "donate" them to the crusade, and they crusade will make sure to give you some useful items back. wink wink
But I have to say I would love for your characters to keep at least one of these items as a memento for the rest of the campaign.

Darya Flamekissed |

That would actually be pretty cool. Heavy as all hell but awesome.
Maybe a quarterstaff with Cold Iron end caps something like this

Darya Flamekissed |

I use a crossbow so I'd definitely be down with maybe 20 of the bolts.

That heavy mace looks like a keeper to me. :)
One thing I'd like to work out is how you want to handle loot sales. I don't mean dividing up loot among the party, but rather, how practical it is to actually sell stuff in what is essentially a ruined town. That's the only reason we've been carrying this huge pile of crap with us (which is almost certainly too heavy to carry). We never worked this out with our previous GMs.
Is this something we can hand-wave once this segment of the adv. is over? Or do you have something in mind already?

Darya Flamekissed |

Given we're rebuilding the town as we go, recovering areas and sort of running an army in the future, I'm thinking "sales" would be more along the line of supplying the army with anything we aren't using or holding in reserve (like consumables). In exchange, we'd sort of be requisitioning anything we "purchase"

Darya Flamekissed |

I could use the Ring, I am a squishy, lol.
Go for it! We need to better protected for those rare times something gets past the melee types.

Alexa Dorne |

Also, a quick reminder: Alexa is a follower of Shelyn, not Iomedae. So I feel like her entry is inaccurate.

“And now at last it comes. You will give me the Ring freely! In place of the Dark Lord you will set up a Queen. And I shall not be dark, but beautiful and terrible as the Morning and the Night! I'm trying to find a good middle ground between our new GM's interpretation of Iomedae and the Crusaders and what I've looked up either online or in established material regarding the Crusades. I hope I'm not coming across as being disruptive or anything like that.
