Lo'j |

I watch everyone wonder off to study their new found information, and with a shrug settle in to make sure the tunnel is well guarded. Once othe guardsmen arrive, I make sure to sleep, but make sure I am roused whenever they suspect anything is happening, and at every change in the guard.

Aubrey the Demented/Malformed |

Specifically, anywhere I can pick up some arcane scrolls of magic weapon, and maybe mage armour too?
You can pick those up at the Feathered Serpent, a curios and magic shoppe run by Vorvashali Voon, a rather flamboyant chap with bronze skin, blue eyes and red hair.
OK, so what is the plan?

Illes Elandru |

I think we all agreed on these:
1)Warning the militia, while asking them to keep it among themselves. Lo'j is the likely candidate here as he's a little more official and trustworthy than Illes.
2)Any equipping for our recon.
3)Setting off through the tunnel early the next day. I think 'next day' was meant to refer to the morning after the glassworks fight with all of our planning having gone on the night before. Maybe I'm wrong and we spend a full day preparing?
I liked Elisile's ideas about fortifying the town, but it takes more time than we have and will cause quite a stir in the population if we are putting up barricades and demolishing bridges without telling them what's up.

Lo'j |

If anyone decides to come back and ask me for ideas...
We should get some men down here with picks and tools, and collapse this tunnel as soon as we get in. There is obviously another way out, and should we fail, and least the towns underbelly won't be completely unprotected.

Dravite Schorl |

I be thinkin', Miss Starbrow, ye might be lookin' ta put de biggenin' spell on Hudak. Mayhaps wit' de reach he could be able ta be gettin' in de battle a little quicker.
The watch can start the repair work on the town gate or hire some laborers to start it. And Dravite is ready to roll, liking the idea of collapsing the tunnel but WE NEED MORE ROPE!

Dravite Schorl |

Illes Elandru wrote:A bunch of good ideasI'll second all those. Rest up, memorise new spells and get some scrolls of magic weapon - and then move in.
How much be one o' dem scrolls? I am ta be payin' ye fer one so me hook can be rippin' de demons.
Did we git any loot offin' de half-elf an' 'is cronies? I could be ta havin' some gold ta be spendin'.

Dravite Schorl |

"a potion, a composite shortbow, a nice ring, masterwork thieves' tools, silver earings (in his ears, if you really want to loot him), a leatherbound journal, 6 pouches of gold dust, eight pouches of silver dust and 10pp."
Anyone wanna see if anything is magic and sell off some stuff? I wonder how much the Gold and Silver dust goes for and if the ring and earrings are magic.

Vethran Tallomane |

Illes looks to Vethran, "Vethako? Fiends sound like your kind of thing. You reading up on them during all that time you spend holed up in your room?"
Vethran scoffed, raising a perturbed eyebrow at his cousin. "What do you mean by 'my kind of thing,' exactly? No, I haven't had much reason to research these kinds of things. My learning is largely restricted to the history and architecture of ancient Thassilon, as well as the working of magics both new and old. Perhaps seeking the priest is a sound idea. He may be able to offer more than I."
If we get some time, Elisile could copy mage armor out of my spellbook. It would save you a little money on the scroll.

Hudak |

Yeah, let's do that.
Larken want the thieves' tools?who wants bow
who wants ring
yeah, let's loot his earrings, f&er.
give Veth the journal, he reads good.
sell the dust and split the money; we'll split the proceeds along with the 10 pp.

Hudak |

Hudak wrote:(lol) I knew a little kid that used to say "Ah down lahk heeyum. Dang airrang boah!

Aye--a foo murrah dish beirsh an....I'll dooooooooo iiiiiiiiiit!!!!!

Larken |

"The ring should go to one of the wizards," Larken comments, gesturing vaguely at Vethran, Illes, and Elisile (a palindrome! cool), "I'm quick and the rest of you have armor. If Vethran's going to continue to step up and try to slug it out with the bad guys, I nominate him. Of course, we should probably go ahead and buy him a nice place in the graveyard, too."
He chuckles.
"Anyway, I'm off to talk to Father Zantus about fiends, if anyone wants to come along."

Aubrey the Demented/Malformed |

OK, lot's of people want to go and see High Priest Zantus, so I'll assume you all go (and save on the spoilers).
The party gathers the following morning at the Rusty Dragon. Ameiko is nowhere is sight, still in seclusion after the horrors of the previous day. The air is subdued - rumours of more goblins and the grisly deaths of Ameiko's father and the glassworks workers are circulating. But the inn still operates, with Bethana pottering about getting breakfast ready for the adventurers.
Heading down to the temple, these is an autumnal nip in the air. Reaching the doors, Dravite bangs on it with his hook until a sleepy-eyed acolyte lets them in. They are taken straight to the high priest, who is in his chamber meditating. He breaks his contemplation and greets the party warmly. On the explanation about the goblins, Tsuto, Nualia and the horrors in the glassworks, he becomes grave.
"Nualia behind all this?" he says incredulously. He shakes his head slowly, puffs out his cheeks and exhales slowly. "I could hardly credit it it, it all sounds so bizarre. Tobyn was a great man, who I held in tremendous esteem, but if he had a fault it was his strictness and very high standards. Nualia was a sensitive child, and quite lonely, and he had particularly high hopes for her, which I know she laboured under. But she never seemed cruel and unkind, just a bit sad. I can't imagine how she could have ended up like this, and involved in the cult of Lamashtu." He shudders. "I suppose it explains whey we never found her remains after the fire. I hope she wsn't involved in instigating that horrible incident." He sighs again.
"A quasit?" He shrugs. "I'm afraid I don't know much about them. Usually familiars to wizards of ill-repute is pretty much all I know. I've never seen one. Vorvashali Voon at the Feathered Serpent might know more. But if there is one lurking under the glassworks, it must be destroyed, especially if it has been implicated in this horrid plot. There were always rumours of smugglers' tunnels dug under the town - maybe that is what you have stumbled across down there."
There is a polite cough at the door. An acolyte stands there, accompanied by Watchman Gint. "Gint has a message from the mayor," he intones. "She would like to see the esteemed deputies urgently."
"Thank you, Barlam," says Zantus, "Is there anything else you need to know before you go?"

Hudak |

"Sir, um....your Holiness...uh,....the book spoke of "Malfeshnekor," and I wonder if you know who that is."
also, I know what a quasit looks like; now mebbe Hudak does too....
"and,....do you have any pictures of a quasit? So I can know its form and thus know to put knives in it?"

Elisile Starbrow |

Either in the evening of the Glassworks battle if the store is still open, or first thing the next morning if not, Elisile (Larken, you noticed!) makes her way to the Feathered Serpent. Handing the platinum coins to Vorvashali Voon, she soon receives an evaluation of the ring that Tsuto wore. She also pays for some scrolls for herself and any other party members who gave her money, and inquires of the mage what he might know of quasits.
Pays 100gp for 2x mage armour scrolls and 2x magic weapon scrolls.
Buys an additional magic weapon scroll for Dravite – D, did you want an arcane scroll for Elisile or Veth to cast for you, or a divine scroll to attempt yourself?
Anyone else?
Returning to the group, Elisile reports her findings. “This ring should rightfully belong to Ameiko Kaijitsu, however, it may be useful to us in this current quest and I think the lady would have no objection to us using it. Vethran, do you wish to wear it? I will not use the bow, if someone else would benefit from it.”
Right, I’m ready to hear what Gint has to say.

Elisile Starbrow |

Don't look at me for the magic weapon scrolls. Transmutation is one of my prohibited schools.
Ah, that's right ... part of the reason I specialised in it!

Dravite Schorl |

Miss Starbrow, 'ere be 25 gold ta be coverin' the cost o' the Magic Weapon scroll. Me own skills cannae be castin' it,(we wildnerness types dinnae be gettin' dat dere spell) so I be needin' fer ye ta be castin' it on me when de time is right, if'n ye will be so kind.
Father, I also be needin' a scroll ta be increasin' me speed. It be ta makin' me stride longer. Pays 25 gp for a scroll of Longstrider.I can be castin' that one meself, though.

Illes Elandru |

Illes waits outside the church leaning against a wall smoking. Confident that Vethran knows what to ask better than he would anyway, he reflects on the death of Ameiko's father and how close his cousin came to a bad end. Dark forces were definitely gathering. Desna's hand in the stars was never easy to read, but the Varisian couldn't stop thinking about the signs of resurrection or rebirth he had seen last night. Illes watches the townfolk going about their day, takes another drag, and speculates on omens and what they could mean.

Aubrey the Demented/Malformed |

Gint pops by the tunnel and collects Lo'j (and Gurney) too.
Gint brings the party to the town hall to see the mayor. He seems rather pleased to be associating with them, even if is is just acting as an errand boy for Kendra Deverin. She is in her office, poring over a map of the region. She nods politley as the deputies file in. She get's straight to business.
"I've heard about Tsuto and the assault plans in his journal. He hasn't said anything in jail, but I think we have most of the information we need. And none of it is good."
She sighs, and sits down, looking very tired. "I don't think the town can really withstand an assault by several hundred goblins, plus associated helpers and mysterious 'Malfeshnekors'. Even with the Sheriff back, the town has very few real fighters and poor defences. The goblins never looked organised enough to cause significant trouble, but their being organised from the outside was never foreseen. Magnimar might send some help, but it might be too little, too late. We are pretty far-flung from the centre of the realm, and likely out-of-sight, out-of-mind."
She drums her fingers thoughtfully on the table for a few moments before continuing. "And now we appear to have mysterious tunnels under our very feet, from which our enemies pour to assault us." She shakes her head in disbelief, and then looks intently at each of the assembled deputies.
"You have been stalwart friends to Sandpoint, even though some of you are only very recently come to this part of the world. I'm very glad that happenstance has favoured our little town and brought you to us, because I must prevail upon you once more to fight on our behalf. While the goblin problem is still with us, the tunnels are an immediate and present threat to the town. I ask you to explore those tunnels, root out any villains which might lurk there, and if possible make sure they cannot be used again in a hurry."
She takes out a pouch, which she places in the middle of the table with a clinking sound. "That is 120 platinums, for you to spend to equip yourselves. Please be quick about your purchases, as I would like you to explore the tunnel as quickly as possible, preferably today. After that, please return to me with your discoveries."
"Any questions?"

Hudak |

"a potion, a composite shortbow, a nice ring, masterwork thieves' tools, silver earings (in his ears, if you really want to loot him), a leatherbound journal, 6 pouches of gold dust, eight pouches of silver dust and 10pp."
Anyone wanna see if anything is magic and sell off some stuff? I wonder how much the Gold and Silver dust goes for and if the ring and earrings are magic.
a.w.a. a mw flute=Illes.
So....potion up for grabs
comp shbow up for grabs
nice ring=ring prot +1=vethran
mw tools=larken
earrings= Hudak
10 pp to ident the ring
dust and earrings=365/8= 45g.p. 6s.p. 2 c.p. each.
I took 20 g.p 6 s.p. 2 c.p since I took the earrings.
somebody grab the potion of clw, and the bow mw comp short +1str.

Hudak |

Right on; just noticed and corrected.
I'm in an auditing mode... I need a spreadsheet. ;)
I guess I'll nab the bow, if nobody more Robinhoodesque/rangerish than myself lays claim to it. I can use it, just don't come up with an apple on your head or nothing, unless you WANT a Joan of Arc style piercing.

Hudak |

I'm always a little fuzzy on group loot & buy out customs.
So 15p.p 45g.p. 6s.p. 2 c.p. each. Since I'm taking the mw flute, do I put 100 gp into a group fund?
Don't put into the group fund. Your flute is of use to us all. I put in for the earrings, because my wearing them is just an affectation, and I could sell them later...
I think we can let the equipping angle of loot slide because we're all big boys here.Plus it's just more effing around...

Elisile Starbrow |

Elisile nods in thanks at the Mayor’s offering. “We were preparing to explore the tunnels and end the threat from that quarter as you summoned us,” she explains.
“It would indeed be difficult for this town to survive an assault by hundreds of goblins,” she continues. “If we are able to overcome whatever dangers lurk in the tunnels, we will do our best to help against the goblins – there may be places in the area where a small group could defeat them, or if we are able to find and defeat the priest’s daughter in these lower caverns, they may lose their motivation to work together.
“In the meantime, is there anything that you can tell us about these smuggler’s tunnels under the Glassworks? Were they ever mapped? Do you know where they might emerge?
“On our return, we may benefit from knowing how to get to the major goblin outposts in the area, if that information can be provided to us.
“It must also be ensured that Ameiko Kaijitsu’s brother is kept securely, unable to esacpe or be rescued. He should be bound and closely watched.”
She also outlines her suggestions for helping to make the town more defensible, although the mayor probably does not warm to suggestions like hacking apart bridges into town.
I’ll take the potion of clw if no one else claims it, though it might make more sense to go to one of the more frontline fighter types.
Did we swap the gold and silver dust for coins somewhere?
Alright, having learnt from the magic shop guy that quasits can turn invisible, do we want to invest in a scroll of see invisibility? It would be of direct benefit only to Elisile or Vethran.
