Otto, spoilers please:

Spoiler:
A lichen-splotched obelisk stands in a clearing in the jungle. A ruined city, covered in creepers, crumbles into a lake of startling blue. An ice cave, glittering icicles hanging like stalactites, opens on to a howling blizzard. The Cathedral of the Silver Flame in Thaliost burns out of control, the high tower collapsing in ruins. A dark shape - bat wings, long snaking neck and tail - flies low over the forest. And, ever present, a formless dread. And the sound of hissing serpents...

Otto's eyes flick open. He is in his hut in the Finback village, the light of dawn creeping through the open doorway. It was just the dream, again. The same one, every night, since he spent the night in the ruined temple. Since the lizardfolk found him, raving and screaming, and brought him here.

There is a rustle in a dark corner. Eshsheth, Koouri's acolyte, watching over him. The lizardman was tasked by the Finback's wisewoman to keep an eye on him - his nursemaid and, Otto has no doubt, prison guard as well.

"You saw it again?" asks Eshsheth.

This isn't especially secret, it's just spoilered to prevent it interfering with the fight.

Now I'm getting the following response when I click on the most recent map link:
"Sorry, the file you have requested does not exist."

Just a heads up.

There's clearly something really weird happened. Hopefully the old links still work. I think somehow there's a duplicate lurking in the system. Until I get home I can't check it out on a machine where I can actually open Google Drive and look. If all else fails, Wultram posted up some links which seem to work in the Discussion.

No wonder they think we're mighty warriors.

Rehil rocks back a step and drives his sword low toward the raptor's leg.

Curve blade v R4: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12 ... damage: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7

ANd Rehil is working to dis-abuse them of the notion.

Spoiler:

Otto stares for a long moment at his nurse and jailor, gathering his thoughts. With a tired hand, he gets his sweat drenched clinging shirt off his chest and lifts it to his face. The already soaked garment of white does little to remove the sweat from his face, but the linen feels nice and makes him think of home.

Part of him is thankful for the Finback's rescue, but the other part sees them as potential enemies. What will they do to me..? Is it true they eat men? Unaware of the ways of these lands, Otto only knows that his actions can speak volumes, in ways unforeseeable to him.

He collects himself and grins to Eshsheth: "Same. A vivid vision of waste. Here and elsewhere."

He sits upright against the mud wall and adds, perhaps to himself, staring at his hands: "I'm not crazy."

Otto:

Spoiler:
"What did you see?"

Eshsheth asks that question every morning.

Aubrey:

Otto slides his fingers through his hair, pushing their black and grey streaks back. He scratches his growing beard and says with a quiet voice, his eyes looking in the distance: "An obelisk in the jungle... A ruined city falling into a lake... A cave in blizzard... The Cathedral of Thaliost burning... A great dark shape, like a dragon, flying over the forest... And serpents, serpents hissing..."

He returns his gaze to Eshsheth, slowly focusing back on the lizardfolk, wondering what he makes of this: "Think I could get a shave?"

The raptor felled by irret gets back to its feet while the other turns on the Finbacks crowding it.

Koouri, the lizardfolk wise-woman, leans on her staff, wattles of soft scaly flesh hanging from her jowls. For someone clearly extremely venerable she moves with surprising stealth, often appearing out of nowhere with a comment. Otto suspects she derives considerable satisfaction from making people jump.

"But I do know that the dragon gods are trying to tell us something, through you," she continues. "Otherwise, you would likely be dead by now." She turns to go, then looks back at him. "And no, you cannot get a shave. Come!"

She shuffles out of the doorway. Eshsheth rises to follow her, and indicates that Otto should do the same.

Aubrey:

Otto lets Koouri's word slowly course through his mind. A stolen obelisk? My people? Da'Sheth? There are too many questions, but one thing seems certain to him:

I'm being used.

Surprised to be let out, he feebly gets on all four, putting a bruised knee tentatively down on the ground, then a foot. He hauls himself up and his back complains loudly. Dizzy, he places a hand on the wall and tries to stretch muscles that have remained cramped in close space for too long.

I'm old!

Koouni is already out, and he hurries somewhat. With mud-caked clothes, he steps out.

And smiles, feeling the sun on his face, and his faith is renewed by the warmth its rays carry.

I'm alive, he thinks, and gives Koouni a defiant smile: "Where's Da'Sheth?"

Otto:

Spoiler:
"Da'sheth is built within Empty Mountain, where the river that runs through our territory rises. It is a holy place of our ancestors, where the dragon gods fought the children of Khyber. The souls of fallen Finback warriors travel there to stand guard and ensure the demons do not rise again."

Koouri hobbles acoss the central space in the middle of the village, Otto and Eshsheth walking slowly behind her. It isn't much to look at, a place of trampled mud and puddles from the overnight rain. Most the lizardfolk huts are equally modest. The exception is the large mound of vegetation to the south that forms the chief's compound - more a compost heap than a palace, but in keeping with the lizardfolk aesthetic. And just beyond the palisade wall can he see a large number of lean-tos and other temporary shelters spread out along the side of a river. Otto may not have fought on the front line but he lived close to one his entire life. He recognises an army encampment when he sees one.

"Koori, why do you tell the human what it already knows? It's people are at Da'sheth, despoiling the holy places." The voice is thin, scratchy and reedy. Its owner is a lizardfolk the size of a halfling, wizened and wearing multple necklaces made of small bones threaded together. Incongruously, it rides on the shoulders of a much larger lizard-warrior towering eight-feet high, its black hide stretched over bulging muscles. The pair of them approach from the direction of the river.

"Perhaps not all humans are the same, Jageela," replies Koouri calmly, eliciting a snort.

"All humans are the same. And the way to deal with them is the same. Shall I kill it for you?" sneers the poisondusk.

These converations are all taking place in Draconic, by the way.

Aubrey:

Otto walks slowly through the village, taking in the harshness of Lizardfolk life, while wondering when the savage killing frenzy will erupt from them and his life will end.

Yet Koouri's words are reassuring and he lets them give him some hope.

His numerous questions about the military encampment are answered when the small Lizardfolk riding a warrior approaches and threatens his life.

Da'Sheth being despoiled! These must be the men that brought my ship down...

He swallows hard, knowing his gambit may cost him his life. But so does remaining silent! He straightens and tries to forget his sorry state, summoning zeal to light his eyes and carry his voice. In Draconic, he speaks loudly:

"Wise Koouri. Fierce Jageela. I am a man of faith, and the gods I serve are similar to your dragon-gods! I have pledge my life not only to the service of the Host, but to the service of all faiths, growing and nourishing their people in peace alongside one another, in respect.

"The men you describe, the men despoiling Da'Sheth, are not after your faith. They are destroying the Sacred in search of power. They need to be stopped.

"I know men! I am one! And I know men like them. I can help you save Da'Sheth! This is why the Gods have granted me the sacred vision of things to come. Good men, and good Lizardfolks, must come together to defend the things we hold sacred!"

A raptor makes for unsteady footing and Rehil's attack misses it mark.

Meanwhile, the raptor that Wultram had cursed with fear attempts to escape.

R2 makes a break for it, making a withdrawal action. That takes it out of H12 to G13 without an AoO, but escaping from G13 provokes an AoO from Wultram and F1. If it survives those, it runs off through the jungle. It either runs away or dies, so either way I'll take it off the map.

Wultram.

Otto:

Spoiler:
Eshsheth looks impressed at Otto's impressed oratory, but Koouri hides her thoughts and remains impassive. Jageela hisses, "The creature speaks blasphemy! Humans cannot serve the dragon gods!"

"We all serve the gods, one way or another, Jageela," counters Koouri calmly. "The tribes of our own folk are not united in purpose, why should the humans be?"

"So what are these visions of which it speaks?" growls Jageela. The blackscale simply stares down at Otto with its strange green eyes.

Wultram has a longspear so he doesn't threathen adjacent squares. At least to my understanding because charnel touch is (Su) and AoO rules do not allow using those.

Wultram hopes memory of the scare is enough to make the raptor that ran not return even after the spell runs out. The mage concentrates negative energy into his hand and releases it from his spear trying to grasp at the remaining beast.

Charnel touch(surprisingly targeting TAC): 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16 Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9

HP 95/95 Temp 0 :: AC 24 CMD 24 :: Fort +10 Ref +5 Will +8 :: Conditions: none

4 damage to Cole after DR.

The charging creature breaches Cole’s armor with a bite and claw. Cole ignores it, instead staying on Vaard’s flank to continue the assault on the lizard-warrior’s foe.

Raging, power-attacking full attack, on R3. If it drops, put remaining attack on R6. If R6 somehow also (miraculously) drops, 5’ step to Q.19.
mwk war maul, action point: 1d20 + 9 - 1 + 1d6 ⇒ (6) + 9 - 1 + (6) = 20
damage: 2d6 + 7 + 3 ⇒ (4, 3) + 7 + 3 = 17

Slam: 1d20 + 8 - 1 - 5 ⇒ (13) + 8 - 1 - 5 = 15
damage: 1d4 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 2 + 1 = 4

EDIT: use action point on the war maul attack (2 remaining).

Wultram's touch causes the beast to collapse back down to the floor, never to rise again. Cole flattens another with his maul.

R1 and R3 down.

Vaard.

Aubrey:
Otto looks down, then sideways at Koouri, visibly embarrassed at the revelation he's just made.

For one rare instance, he decides and manages to keep his mouth shut...

Otto:

Spoiler:
As Otto bites his lip and refuses to answer, Jageela sneers, "It knows nothing. Like all humans, it is all lies. Come, Ygza." The blackscale gives Otto a last lingering look - like someone eyeing a tasty morsel they have decided to save for later - and then bears his master towards the chief's compound.

"The poisondusk have little love for humans, I fear," says Koouri as they move out of earshot, "They follow the lord of Haka'torvhak, and do not consider the needs of the Cold Sun tribes. They would much prefer us to kill you, and all of your kind in the jungle. Even now Jageela goes to intercede with our chief. You would be best to guard your words in his presence. You will not persuade him, and he will only twist what you say to his own advantage." She sighs. "Like all his kind."

Male Cold Sun Lizardfolk HP 75/75, AC 18 Humanoid 2/ Warlord (Steelfist Commando) 4 // Marshal 1

As the raptor swings his talon at Vaard, the cold sun makes a reflexive attempt to move his shield in the way.
Initiating Iron Shell as an immediate action against R3's first talon attack:

Iron Shell:
Discipline: Iron Tortoise (Counter); Level: 1
Initiation Action: 1 immediate action
Range: Personal
Target: You

A shield is used for defense primarily, a basic martial truth. It turns aside harm, and the shield of a disciple of the Iron Tortoise can do the same thing in ways that others cannot. The initiator makes an opposed attack roll as if making a shield bash attempt at his full base attack bonus plus his shield bonus to AC against his enemy's attack roll to deflect a single enemy's melee or missile attack (that is not a spell or power).

shield bash: 1d20 + 5 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 5 + 7 = 13
Nevertheless his attacker's talon avoids the shield, and pierces Vaard's hide. Subsequently the creature's teeth sink into his skin, and Vaard grimaces in pain.

With that raptor down, and only one adjacent one remaining, Vaard bashes his shield against the remaining one R6, this time swerving to give Cole a clear shot. Using Hunting Party on R6 and Cole

Hunting Party:
Discipline: Golden Lion (Strike); Level: 1
Initiation Action: 1 standard action
Range: Melee attack
Target: One creature and one adjacent ally
Duration: 1 round

When two or more soldiers converge on a single target, the odds of victory increase and the disciple with the knowledge of this strike can assist his comrade's potential lethality. When this strike is initiated, a successful melee attack may grant one adjacent ally who is attacking the same target an attack of opportunity against that target.

Shield Bash: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
1d4 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Unfortunately, the pain from the previous raptor seems to have hurt his aim.
I doubt that hit, but if it does than Cole gets an AoO.

Aubrey:

Otto lifts his eyes from the ground to look in the general direction of Koouri, avoiding direct eye contact, and offers, apologetic: "I hope I didn't get you in trouble or danger, Koouri. You are very wise. Please know that should I die in this place, my heart will be content, for I have had the chance to meet a truly inspired person of faith."

His smile is genuine, but quickly turns to concern: "What do you make of my visions? What can we do with this holy omen?"

he asks, looking at the deep jungle.[/spoiler]

Irret pushes through the ranks of humans and lizardfolk, drawing a javelin as she goes. She then hurls it at the raptor fighting Cole, Rehil and Vaard.

Thrown javelin at R6 1d20 + 5 - 4 - 2 ⇒ (1) + 5 - 4 - 2 = 0

But it simply hits a branch and plops into the stream.

Bit of ninja'ing going on - I'll take it on a first come first served basis.

Ashshar's javelin doesn't get much closer than Irret's.

The finbacks stream past Irret and Ashshar as they head to tackle the last raptors.

Once the fight is finished and a few moments to see that the raptors did not just retreat to attack again Wultram finally lowers his spear. He then starts walking the other group finally stopping above William and James. The mage gives a deep sigh not even bothering to check if either lives the sight is enough to convince him. "We should do the burial rites. Least we can do."

I did not like you but that does not mean you deserved to be mutilated by some beast in a land far away from home.
