Don't think we have the stealth resources needed to scout out the obelisk at this time. For now best we can hope is get out of here and make sure the group is not going anywhere for the time being. Considreing the front guard was something that we just might have been able to win and not without people dying, we really don't have a chance if we do not make this as quick as possible imo.
About the map:
The team going for the airship should travel in the jungle circling as close as we can to the airship. Wultram could summon a couple of undead as a minor distraction and as a signal for the other team to start going, mind you those won't last past a couple of rounds even if they survive what the defenders are dishing out.
The ballista nearest to the airship is a concern, but we could risk taking a few hits, it might also take a while for them to realize it is under our control. Since the ballista team is pretty much imidietly regonized as enemies if seen, perhaps they should take the northern ballista tower as that is near the water and let's hope that M obstructs shots from the southern one as pick up happens.

I feel I should pressure you a bit for a response. I appreciate that this is a bit of a big deal, sort of the climax of this section of the campaign, and none of the options look too healthy for your characters. However, you need to make a decision - there is no right answer (only wrong ones - bwahahahaha! - ahem) so agonising over the map or the planning might not reveal a deeper truth. Plus, never assume I know much more than you.
Like I said above - other than Portforged, I've never let any of you die. Well, other than the halfling. And his dog. And that lizard guy way back. But other than that, none of you!
Otto ir'Kaspardt |
Thanks for the reassuring words :)
Otto feels he owes it to his captors (!) to at least learn about what these bad guys are trying to do in that obelisk (plus he a sucker for Dol Arrah). So he's pushing for that.
That being said, he can only talk you into submitting to his will. He'll follow where the group goes.
Nalverren |
Nalverren is agreeable to being on the airship team, and he is ambivalent on which of the towers the other team should go for.
Rehil Ecraish |
Let's stick to the current plan. Split the party and grab the airship and hit the waterfront tower. Underwater approach to the tower. Once we've got the airship we can plan some kind of lightning raid on the menhir tower.
Rehil, Skelly and the lizard folk for the tower. Otto, Cole, Nalverren and Wultram for the airship.

I'm not getting updates from this thread anymore. :/
I'm good with what Rehil said. I'm tempted to suggest the water-bound folk tie themselves together make sure they all arrive, but I feel like that's just asking for some unseen complication to scuttle the whole effort.

Hi guys,
I’ve decided to retire from PbP gaming and will move away from the boards over the next few days. I started PbP in 2008. Over those years, I’ve met and played with amazing GMs and players. I’m grateful for all the things I’ve learned playing with them.
I’m sorry for the disruptions my sudden leaving causes.
Happy gaming,
DW
(This message is posted in all my current games.)
Aubrey, many thanks for the opportunity to join your game. It's been an amazing experience!
Nalverren |
we have action points in this game, right? and if so, do your various additional uses, such as avoiding death, apply?
Ashshar |
Yeeeessss, me iss very pleasssed to be here. Yess me iss
Ajem... I will cut the s' thing. I'm glad to be around! Gonna give a last check to make sure everything adds up in the morning -it's late already here- but I think Ashshar's ready to rumble.
Oh, and hp rolls! HP: 1d8 + 3d10 ⇒ (5) + (7, 7, 9) = 28... holy Molly of all that is nice and shiny!

Greetings to the new guys! If you could flick through the game thread to get an idea of what is going on, it would be helpful. mdt's character might take a little while to get on the scene (sorry about that) but Ashshar can go on his next initiative (nothing like starting in the middle of a fight). If mdt wants to play Otto for the moment, that would give him something to do until the Big Reveal.

How familiar are you with eberron? Mainly asking because necromancy is a bit different there, not mechanically, just attitudes about and also how deities work.
That being said Wultram has had confrontations with people from church of the silver flame.
And yes Wultram is a very dedicated necromancer.
Aubrey the Malformed |
It's fair to say that necromancy is frowned upon (at the very least) by the Church of the Silver Flame, and probably the Sovereign Host too (although they are less fanatical about it - and everything else - in general). mdt's character "isn't from around here" so he is free to react in a way that seems appropriate. But in the context of a very long period of warfare, one could argue that ends have probably justified the means on more than a few occasions. The legal position can vary - in Thrane they would probably put down undead abominations with extreme prejudice, in Karrnath they could be full citizens, maybe even war heroes. Most places fall in the middle.
mdt |
Ok, sounds good. We'll go with 'Paladin/Life Oracle detesting undead on sight' until such time as things are explained in character and see how it goes. Not me trying to start internal strife off the start, just seems unreasonable for such a character to be friendly towards undead right off the bat. Or ever, but maybe 'accepting for now'.
Wultram Denka |
Yeah I do not mind some bickering. Wultram on the other hand is rather angry young man :p Anyways he isn't the murder orphanage and raise the kids as undead type of necromancers(for one kids make lousy minions), so eventually they should get along well enough.
EDIT: Also Aubrey it seems I ninjad you in the game thread.
