"Marc, I'm pretty sure that tree is not the one he just described."
"Right. Of course not! Still, something went to town on the little vermin in that cave that we found."
"I've heard that maybe the kobolds are at war with one another too, but that may just be wishful thinking."
Male Half-elf Paladin 3
"Being a trapper and hunter, do you have any idea where the big boar called Tuskgutter usually roams?"
Sorcerer 4E
"What do you know about a local woman, very pretty, runs with wolves?"
m Human Warlock 3 exp 2318 (infernal boon)
"Tuskgutter - now there's a hunter's dream. And nightmare. But you're looking in the wrong place for him - I've heard he lives south of that ruined temple in the forest.
"Girl with wolves?" Smarlar falls silent. "Why would you be asking about that?"

My brain is fried, we fought her and her wolves, but she got away, right?
Marc raises an eyebrow.
"Well, we ran into her and her friends a few days ago. Have you met her?"
Male Half-Elf Bard/3

"We fought her off a while back. Killed the wolves with her, but she managed to run off. Seemed foolish to go chasing off after her in the night, on her home turf."
"Prior to attacking, she said something about the area we found her in as being Clan lands. Do you know anything about this clan she was talking about & the extent of the land they claim as theirs?"

"Uh,...are you okay, Smarlar? You look as though you've seen a ghost, my good sir."
"There's talk - and that's all it is as far as I know - that there's a bunch of werewolves around here, calls itself the Clan. Most people don't like to talk about it. Those that do seem to... have bad ends."
Sorcerer 4E
"Yes, well. She was decidedly unfriendly. I can see how that might put off some people. Does anyone have any idea how much territory this 'Clan' claims? I think it might be important to make a note of such things."
"I don't know. I've never encountered them. Well, knowingly..."
Sorcerer 4E
"Well, she attacked us, despite our best attempts to parlay peaceably. And we sent her packing. Perhaps the possibility that the next travelers will not be pushovers will make their journey safer?" He grins.
Then he shrugs at the others looks. "Probably not. Ah Well, Hope springs eternal!"
The evening darkens the horizon and the party settle down for the night. Smarlar continues his chatter, and also marks down on the explorers' charts his understanding of where the various places they asked about might be.
The old tree with the mite lair is in E22, the kobold lair is in F23, and Tuskgutter's lair in E20.

"We should go after the kobolds, I think."
"I agree the dirty little blighters."

Hi Aubrey, we need your input in Face the Fire. Cheers!
Sorcerer 4E
"I concur. I think a 'friendly visit' to the kobolds is in order. Although I must confess that this 'Tuskgutter' sounds like an interesting challenge, at least for one city-bred."
Smarlar heads off the following morning to check his trap line.
OK, what now - you haven't finished mapping this square, you have one more day to go.
Male Half-elf Paladin 3
I suggest finishing mapping the square first, before going to visit the kobolds.

Male Half-Elf Bard/3
"I hate to be the wet blanket here, but while it sounds exciting to root out a band of kobolds, Smarlar's description sounds like their lair is about a week's exploring away. Given the poor foraging we've been able to accomplish out here on the plains, I'm not sure we have enough supplies to last that long. We could get there without exploring the intervening terrain, but then we'd have to spend some time locating the lair, root them out & still have enough supplies to get us back to Oleg's. I think we have enough to just manage that if our foraging remains as poor as it has been."
"Being part Ulfen, it chafes to say this, but I think the smart thing to do is play it safe & finish exploring. Then, we'll head back to Oleg's, resupply & maybe pick up supplies that might be useful in digging out a band of kobolds, a band of mites, and hunt down the fearsome Tuskgutter."
"I only mention this because I'm not likely to get an epic yarn out of us starving out in the wilderness after being beaten back by a band of kobolds that we might not be adequately prepared to face. And I want to make sure that doesn't happen."
m Human Warlock 3 exp 2318 (infernal boon)
Sounds good; let's finish the square.
The party continue mapping this patch of wilderness before deciding on their next move. (Foraging rolls, please.) Everything seems to be going well and the cartography continues apace. However, while exploring near another of the small stands of woodland that dot the plain, they disturb a small group of piglets covered in striped brown wiry fur. While they are cute, their parents are not. A group of enraged wild boar burst from cover to protect their young.

I can't open the map either, which is weird as I can view the Pontrilas map without any problems at all.
If I click on the link it works. I've checked the sharing settings and it should be set to "anyone with the link". Try it again - if it still isn't working I'll have another go at the settings.
EDIT: Hmm, logged out and tried the link and I got the same thing as you guys - investigating.
EDIT 2: OK, fixed. Odd, it had the same privacy settings as the Pontrilas map yet acted differently. Ah well, one of those things.

"One side of bacon coming up!" Marc declares gleefully as he draws his new shiny dagger from behind his back.
"By the by, do you like your boar crispy, or chewy?" He asks the others, missing the opportunity to go before the mega-pig.
