Cindy sees him at another intersection up ahead.
Having Shiv and Garion move north this turn then to avoid the twisting (and hence slower) streets the several guards he went east are going to run into, next turn both will be able to sprint east
Farther to the east Cindy can see one of the more prominent north to south running streets a little ways ahead of the man. The buildings on the opposite side of the main street are shorter than the ones you've been moving through so far. 10' in height rather than 20'
Vados, Aria, and Vayga still have actions - though likely only Vados will matter in terms of catching or not catching the man.
Invisibility fades at the beginning of the mans next turn.

GM Ascension |

Running requires straight line movement for the entire duration, so you can't run and take a corner at the same time. Which brings up this weird scenario though of depending on where you end your move you may or may not be able to make use of a run action.
@Shiv, 10' behind who? From your previous position you ran 75' or 80' north. So more than a double move, but limited by the straight line movement of running which put you at B111 on the current map.
So a recap on movements. Vados loses grip, the opponents moves 30' east. Everyone charges him with only Shiv scoring a minor hit.
Next round the opponent uses a run action with a speed boost to get to Q110. Everyone else moves 120 feet running or flying east, except Vados who moves 160'
Next round the opponent runs 75' north to Q111. Vados and Cindy round the corner, Vados doing a double move because he is turning for a total of 80' of movement and Cindy flying a distance of 120'. Everyone else runs 80' to get to the ~110 column, some of the guards run 120' to get close to the next alley over.
Current round the opponent runs 120' east. Cindy flies 120' distance. Vados double moves 80', again taking a corner. Shiv/Garion run ~75-80 feet north.
Am I missing or messing something up in that?

GM Ascension |

Vados was at K110. Double move north to B111 then east to B118
Okay, I think we are good then to move to the next round.
The invisibility hiding the man from all but Cindy's sight wears off revealing him at the end of the alleyway. He turns north moving out of sight.
He uses a normal move action this time, not a run

Cindy Lu |

Question: At 10' up If I were in D35 would I provoke from the ninja if I cast a spell? If so, she only moves 20' forward.
Cindy moves forward 25', maintaining her height and vomits forth a swarm of spiders onto her opponent. The spiders warm onto the man and the wall beside him, biting him, and perhaps nauseating him. I would like to have the spiders on 134/135, leaving 136 open. Since they have a climb speed, I think that is possible.
Spider Swarm: 1d6 ⇒ 4 Need a DC 11 fort save now or 1d2 strength drain and a DC 11 will save when its his turn or he is distracted (Move action only).

Cindy Lu |

So she flies the full 25' and is able to vomit the spiders onto the guy. :) If you are good with it the will be in -E,-F/134,135. And the spiders, swarming on to the man "might" negate the images because with blind sense they might ignore them and could not swarm upon them. Do we know how long the images have been up? I think they only last 5 rounds, like the invisibility.

GM Ascension |

The shadow clones don't have the same time restriction like vanishing trick, but instead last the same duration as the spell.
The spiders will ignore mirror image - but also won't remove images.
Distraction is a fort save, not a will save, unless I'm forgetting something.
Spiders spewing out of your mouth on top of him is awesome.

GM Ascension |

Vados, Shiv, and Garion sprint down the alleyway to find Cindy spewing spiders from her mouth on top of the wounded man.
Fort save against poison d20 + mods = 19
Fort save against distraction d20 + mods = 22
"Take comfort when I kill you, you won't see it coming.", he scowls at Cindy then downs the potion. As he does so his movements accelerate and he moves northward, turning west around the corner of the building.

GM Ascension |

@Shiv, I looked up the rules on chasing again. So long as you both move at the same speed it will become a dex vs dex check to see if you catch him or he gets away. I'd probably do the first person to win 2-3 of the checks wins.
@Shiv, also, move action to sheathe a dagger so you can use the wand? Or free action to drop the dagger?

GM Ascension |

Cindy Lu |

If there is nothing of note around that corner she will continue after the ninja flying over him just above him so that she will threaten him with her great axe.She will then use her Misfortune hex on him. Will save DC 18 or suffer misfortune until the end of my next turn.

Swift: Wand of Expeditious Retreat
Standard UMD: 1d20+8
Move: 60'
I'm sorry, but this is a no go. My snapshot of Shiv's character from 2-3 days after the beginning of the battle does not own spring loaded wrist sheaths.
Free action to drop dagger, move action to draw wand, standard action to use, free action to drop wand, 5' step - or declare different actions.

"Shiv" Shivelhoff Slipshank |

Pretty weird since I used one of the two on June 9th:
Swift Action: Spring Loaded Sheath-Wand of Shield
Standard Action: UMD: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23
Move Action: Store the wand in my Haversack
AC:26 (29 vs anyone who takes SA dmg from me)
Shield Round 1/6
I have no idea what happened with your snap shot, but if you are in any way insinuating that I cheated I have a problem with that.
As I told you, this character was hand created on vacation by hand to keep the group from waiting and later added into hero lab and recopied into my profile. (all told to you as I did it).

Oh and here is the character I sent you through PM for you approval on April 30th. You can double check in your in box:
My apologies Shiv. I've been stressing over this the last couple of hours because written medium is so hard to discuss things like this in. Please make a note that the wand of infernal healing is the one not in a sheath (unless of course you change it in the future).
The above is sufficient evidence (and very helpful, I have around 300 saved PM's).
Original movement orders stand.

It is fine. You have a tough job. I am fine with letting him go. I want to move on to RP. I apologize for getting a little upset. I got offended at the thought of my team thinking I cheated. You have been extra fair throughout the process. We can just end the chase and move on. I was hoping to catch him for the role playing anyway. I really enjoy this campaign and want it to be fun for all involved (even the enemy).

GM Ascension |

Cindy will get her AoO.
The opponent is now moving 120' per round with a double move.
Cindy can fly 120' and possibly get a 2nd AoO (depending on acrobatics roll).
If Cindy doesn't kill him going to move to evasion and pursuit rules with Shiv's 3 dex rolls. Best 2 out of 3 wins.
And now for the embarrassing bungle I made on the other side: they crafted a potion of expeditious retreat for him. Problem is Exp Retreat is a personal spell and can't be made into potion form per the rules, which I didn't catch till two days ago - the end result is I'm allowing them this one time potion.

Cindy Lu |

AOO: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 81d12 ⇒ 3
Oh well, Was hoping to take down an image. Important here is that he used acrobatics, which requires double movement for that 5' and means he did not run, only move or double move. - What were his actions as he moved away? This will help me choose if I want to single move and cackle to maintain the misforture.

"Shiv" Shivelhoff Slipshank |

This depends on Cindy's decision, but I am posting to keep moving forward.
I should just kill the idiot. Shiv stands 15' away from the quarry breathing heavily from the chase. Nearly out of breath, he holds his daggers in the air and addresses the man: Look...We have had multiple opportunities to kill you. We do not want to kill you. We want to talk. I am having a hard time trusting you though. If you will put down your weapons and surrender, we can work things out. We have the approval of the mageocracy to apprehend or kill you. They know of your extortion and threats against the innocent merchants of Coran and their children. We would prefer to let you live. You are exhausted and severely injured. I will kill you if you refuse or if you do anything other than surrender and put your hands in the air. Maybe we can find an option that is mutually beneficial to both groups?
Shiv is sincere in the offer, but he is angry about the situation. If he relents, I will walk him back to the group for the decision on how to question him. If he attempts anything else (ie run; cast a spell; draw a potion, weapon, or wand; drink a potion), I will charge him.

Cindy Lu |

Cindy will single move towards the man and laugh to herself (cackle) maintaining the misforture. If for some reason that is not possible she will double move, moving up to the ninja with her great axe so that she threatens but will not attack if he surrenders.

GM Ascension |

Just prior to Shiv catching him...
Seeing Shiv gaining ground on him the man starts fiddling in his pouches, and not watching where he is going - "Oophf" he stumbles over a teenage boy. He manages to keep his feet as he turns around and leans against a building heaving from the lack of oxygen. He has a potion in one hand though which he quickly drinks. Some of the bruises and cuts on his face and arms heal over leaving only a faint bit of yellow where a bruise once was or pinkish skin where he'd take a nick from a blade.
A number of people in the streets look on this scene, but none approach closely, all staying well back. The man speaks at the same time as Shiv, each others words jumbling together to the listening crowds. "People of Coran, behold, the Merchant guild, they have killed one of my friends in cold blood. And here they are to kill me as well. You will not see me again, but beware for the Merchants guild IS the thieve's Guild!"
Then looking straight at Shiv, "There is no need to kill me in the open, I will go with you, these good people don't need to see your violent ways."
We should now be out of combat.
Shiv now has a readied action to charge and attack if he does anything but raise his hands in the air. Hopefully will get back with his response to Shiv tonight.
