About Cindy Lu

Background:

Cindy’s mother was a half orc and her father was (is) human. That technically makes her a quarter orc, and sometimes you can hardly see her orc features. But those that see them call her an orc. Seems it does not take much orc blood to be treated like a full up orc.

Mom was a witch doctor and could heal as good as any cleric, ‘cept she did not do that channeling stuff. Some people called her a hedge witch and her patron was an aspect of Desna dedicated to healing. ‘Course she knew some other hexes too. She could put spells on people and bring um bad luck or make um fall asleep. She taught Cindy well in the tribal traditions of Great Gram even though they lived in a big city now. Mom knew lots of good stories about Great Gram and even said was she head of coven once. By 10 Cindy could hex and by 12, when mom failed to come home, she already had her mask and was casting second level spells.Practice make perfect they say, and Cindy had lots of chances to practice just to get by.

Mom did ok in town, but the money was not so good just tending to the sick. And dad had his habit, which seemed to use up all the money mom brought home no mater how much it was. So mom signed on for an adventuring company. At first she did well and brought home tales and trophies from her adventures. But then her whole group just did not come home. That was two years ago with no word, and dad seems to have gotten worse week by week.

Dad's name was Dane. He was a city guard, and a good one at one time. He had made captain by the time Cindy was born. That’s just captain of a district, and only at night, but Condy's mom was pretty proud of him. If only it had not been that seedy district near the western gate. Too much Pesh flowed there and the dealers took to tipping the guards with stray leaves from the strings they would wind and sell. At first Dane would only tuck a leaf into his mouth and enjoy the mind euphoria it brought. But he found himself using the drug more and more, and pretty soon he was buying it, unable to get through a day without it.

Now dad is retired and lives near the western gate of Coran. He uses his small pension to buy more "fixes" and to rent a small room. He does odd jobs now and again to get more drug. Since mom failed to come home the drug is all he is interested in. He says it helps him forget. It must work because often he does not remember he has a daughter. Cindy loves her dad and wants to get a house where they both can live. If its in the Pesh district he might even move in with her. She also is not too fond of those drug dealers near the western gate and would not hesitate to take revenge on them for stealing her daddy away.

Since Cindy was 10 she has really been raising herself. With her mom out on adventures and her dad focused on his next fix, she had to. Living on the street was not so hard with all the tricks her mother had taught her. And now that her mask was teaching her new thing she was confident that she was ready to do some real adventuring herself. This Merchant Guild thing looked good. Maybe she would even be able to find out what happened to her mother some day.

Cindy has recently accepted her first job working for the Merchant's guild. She is excited because some of her older friends are gonna be there helping too.

While looking for a job with the guild at age 12 she met Vados, an Undine monk befriended her, looked after her for a while and ended up teaching her Aquan.

Cindy is connected to Aria Stellar as Aria's father, Captain Silvers, replaced her father Dane, when he retired. Cindy still has a few friends in the city guard that look in on her and help her keep tabs on her father.

Cindy is connected to Garion Tathos from services at the church of Desna. Cindy has been visiting the temple of Desna on an off quite a bit over the last 4 years. Sometimes as a seeker of wisdom, sometimes for worship or to help with healing work, and sometimes in need of food or a warm place to sleep. Once or twice she was in trouble with the city guard and was looking for a place to lay low. Garion always helped her and never asked questions.

And she remembers Mikal Amakiir and much of his family because they used to come around for healing from Mom, when she was doing that kind of work. No questions asked. That brought in a lot of her work.

Personality:

A worshiper of Desna, when she remembers to worship, Cindy is a free Spirit who follows her whims and her fate. She hates to be told what to do and tends to avoid authority figures. No one of authority has even done her any good. Only a few short years ago they tried to put her in a home for unloved children, like she did not even have a daddy. So what if sometimes he did not know her. That home had lots of rules. It was too restrictive; she dislikes restrictions and decided to go it alone. She thinks she is doing just fine, but feels guilty for not going by and helping her dad more often.

Cindy is motivated to make it in the world on her own. She sees this opportunity with the Merchant’s guild as a chance to really establish her self and get her dad off the street. She might could afford a fine home in the merchant’s ward of Coran. What she is most afraid of is being locked up in a jail or in some home, where she has to follow lots of rules and can’t visit her dad like she knows she should.

Physical Description:

Cindy looks older than her 14 years. Half orcs grow up fast. She stands 5’2” and weighs in at a healthy 115. Her hair is a honey brown and her eyes are a piercing black. Her skin has a greenish tint that is only noticeable when she is not wearing make-up or in disguise, which is seldom. What scars she has are well covered by her simple dresses. She prefers prints with pastel colors. Her one strange adornment is the mask. Its not pretty to look at and she has to be in one of her moods to want to wear it. But she does not have to wear it to learn from it. She can hang it on a tree or even a wall and talk to it. It whispers secrets to her. Sometimes she pretties it up with her disguise kit, or with magic, but somehow people can always see the scars in the mask, regardless of its form.
