Should we come up with connections between our characters? Or wait to see who is selected before we do that?

You can start working on that, though you may end up altering it if not all those with connections you've made get in.

I’d like to use the Rogue Investigator archetype from the APG. The age was determined using the Advanced Races Guide. If 76 is too old, I’d be willing to change it. Speaking of the Races Guide, if possible I’d switch Water Affinity with Hydrated Vitality. If not possible, that’s absolutely fine.

The age is fine.

My witch's background, personality, and appearance is posted in the alias. Her crunch is 85% complete. I know you did not want that yet, but I find it hard to create a background without doing some crunch. :)

Cindy is a follower of Desna for connection purposes. Anyone else? She can do light healing with her healing hex and some wands. She will be a good buffer and debuffer. She is very good with disguise and can fly up to 5 times a day.

Just checking in again, whether I am selected or not, I look forward to following this to see how the game plays out. I think it is a real interesting dynamic, and much more 'real-world' than we might think. Different groups working towards their own goals, while others are pulling their own strings, and neither really sure what the others are up to. Very interesting.

Recruitment is now closed. I'm hoping to have things narrowed down late Monday night. At latest Tuesday night I will post the selected characters. Thank you everyone for your interest and creative character concepts - choosing between them is always one of the hardest parts - this PbP doesn't look like it is going to be any different.

I daresay that as a group, we are the more silent. Possibly because we have learned, while dealing with the Merchant's Guild, that patience brings good things to those who wait.

I picked this group over the others for that reason. Anyone can try to join a thieves guild or a mage tower or say 'down with the man', but it takes a certain kind of player to say 'boy, I really want to trade goods all day'.

Haha. Interestingly enough this is the group that is giving me the most trouble in narrowing things down. I think I've got my picks for the other groups, still mulling over these characters here though.

Dark Archive

Am i in your pick? (:

After trying to sort out characters for all the groups I decided to up the group size from 5 to 6 for each faction. Doing so helped alleviate some of the difficulties I was having in narrowing down the selections.

For the rebellion group it will consist of the following characters:
Mikal
Aria Stellar
Garion Tathos
Talathel Miriel
Vados Umbaran
Cindy Lu

Please post in the discussion thread to indicate you are working on your character stat block.

I encourage you to also work with the other members of your faction to create some ties in your back stories.

I'd like to add especially for this group, upping the count to 6 only helped a little in making a selection. For those who were not selected, if someone ends up dropping early from any of the groups and you would still like to play in the campaign, send me a PM and I will contact you. I would have loved to see every character concept from this group played out.

I would like to submit a possible character concept for consideration of recruitment into your group. I understand you have need of a 'face man' and would like to fill that role for you. Thank you for your consideration.

Cormick Egerton (Human Bard)
Back Story:
Cormick Egerton was born to a family of wealth and position in Coran. The Egertons are proud supporters of the Mageocracy and have made their wealth through their import/export business of exotic goods and legal magical items. As the second son, it was arranged for Cormick to attend the Tower of Heaven and one day join the Mageocracy.

While Cormick did show an aptitude in the use of magic, the lessons and training did not fit with his understanding of how magic should be used. Realizing that classwork and grades would soon begin to show his lack of understanding, he turned to other means to hide his problem. Using techniques he had seen his father and uncle use in negotiations, Cormick developed his skills of diplomacy, reading people and stealth to gain his needs. A magic scroll he could sneak into a class, a magic item with a specific cantrip, shift the instructor’s attention to someone else and on rare occasions steal a spell from another student. (The begins of becoming a Bard, Sandman Archetype.)

Well Cormick wasn’t as smart as he thought himself to be and was found out in his 2nd year of training. Expelled from the Tower and sent home in shame, he was not received with welcoming arms from his family. His father nearly disowned him, but Cormick was able to convince him to send him to one of the smaller kingdoms to the west to work at the family’s Import/Export House.

Cormick has returned home to Coran after learning of his father’s failing health. It has been 15 years since he last set foot in Coran. His brother Sebastian Egerton has taken over the family business in all but name. Sebastion has arranged for Cormick to temporarily take over the daily workings of the Import/Export House, while he attends to his father.

Future Character Growth:
Because Cormick has been gone for 15 years he is not known in Coran, but he has a very useful background for the Merchant Guild to use. He is being groomed by the Guild to become a spy (Master Spy Prestige Class).
