Male Human Monk 5 (Qinggong Master of Many Styles from the Sacred Mountain)/Fighter (Brawler) 3

Sledge busts through the webbing, and make it 15 feet up the stairs, Jones following close behind, and even oveertaking him on the stairs.. Only one step stands between themm and the roof, which is getting struck by lightning, regularly and repeatedly in the massive rainstorm that has blown up since a couple of hours ago.

Inside, it was hard to tell (even with the roof retracted, only a drizzle got in) but the roof would be impossible to traverse were it not for the three large lightning rods attracting all the electricity.

The strong winds don't help either. Any ranged weaponry would likely be blown off course by the wind, and climbing any of the three iron ladders to the top platform is treacherous for anyone not trained to climb.

DC 5 Climb check or be blown off a ladder.

The Beast aims a shot at the Promethean.

Attack: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (1) + 22 = 23
Attack: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (7) + 17 = 24

Bite: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (18) + 17 = 35
Slam: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (9) + 17 = 26

He misses thrice due to his fear for his father, but lands his teeth and fist into the Promethean's face.

3d8 + 18 ⇒ (2, 6, 5) + 18 = 31

Unfortunately, the majority of the force from neither blow goes through.

Zin.

It'll have to make a new save against Flaming Sphere on its turn.

The Promethean is slowed by Zin'z Fire. Her sister Din would be proud.

NPCing you, but if you want to do something different we can change it.

Zin runs up the stairs after everyone.

The Promethean moans again.

Will: 4d20 ⇒ (15, 18, 20, 17) = 70

Beast Will: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (20) + 10 = 30

But once again everybody avoids its effects. A lingering discomfort you hadn't even noticed disappears.

You're immune to both versions of the Infrasonic Moan now for 24 hours.

Sledge gets big.

Male Human Monk 5 (Qinggong Master of Many Styles from the Sacred Mountain)/Fighter (Brawler) 3

The roof wasn't your only option, merely a place where you could flee and reach the Promethean when it came to get you. If you want to stay where you are, that's an option too.

Also I just realized something...the Promethean is not slowed by Fire like other Flesh Golems, and nor healed by electricity. This is both good and bad for you (the Beast can hurt it a bit better now).

Sledge enlarges, Jones moves, and Zin delays.

The Beast retreats to the roof, and the Promethean climbs up his webs after.

Once there, it is provided with a plethora of targets to choose from.

Counting from left to right/top to bottom on the map.

Slam 1 Target: 1d3 ⇒ 2

Slam 2 Target: 1d3 ⇒ 2

But it apparently hates Sledge the most.

Slam: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (16) + 21 = 37

Slam: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (6) + 21 = 27

Grab: 1d20 + 29 ⇒ (6) + 29 = 35

Damage (2 slams and Constrict): 12d6 + 27 ⇒ (6, 3, 6, 1, 4, 1, 1, 3, 3, 1, 5, 5) + 27 = 66

Sledge is left beaten and broken on the ground from the creature's onslaught.

Sledge, take 66 damage. You begin to see why the Beast is part of this fight. -.-

Back up to Jones and Darius.

Yeah, it's one of those things I was always iffy on. Very cinematic fight, but not a whole lot the players themselves can do against the thing. I've rewritten it a bit to give you guys more to do, but couldn't think of anything better.

Speak for yourself, in my game the players met a NPC character back in Harrowstone that they convinced to follow them around every once and a while on their adventures. He walked up the stairs, saw the Promeathan and crit it with a scythe. It died.

Male Human Monk 5 (Qinggong Master of Many Styles from the Sacred Mountain)/Fighter (Brawler) 3

Considering that was something you must have added yourself (there's no scythe wielding NPC in Harrowstone) and is predicated entirely on a fluke crit dealing a minimum of 127 damage at 6th level, I stand by what I said. Especially when as written the thing is where I put it (among the webs on the ceiling, not within reach of anybody walking up the stairs..and they would have had to deal with the webs walking to it if it WAS on the ground). Barring anomalies, this thing is ridiculously powerful, easily able to kill (or grapple and paralyze!) a PC every round, or more often if it gets lucky.

It had its tentacles pretty busy with either two or three other people at the time.

The NPC wasn't the first one up the stairs, he had bee near the very back only ahead of the parties sorcerer, the rest had rushed up the stairs, starting fighting, then starting screaming to run away, when he got up there.

There's no doubt without some very serious martial characters that the promethean is a tough cookie for when he is encountered.

Male Human Monk 5 (Qinggong Master of Many Styles from the Sacred Mountain)/Fighter (Brawler) 3

Just a note so we're clear, a whip increases your Reach to 25 feet, not 30 (it adds 15, not triples it). At least, that's how I'm going to run it. But you can still reach the Promethean because you're 10 feet tall.

Darius' strike bounces off the creature's thick hide.

Can you do me a favor and move your damage roll down a line? Last round I read the damage as the attack roll and assumed it had hit. Both attacks actually missed.

Whatever on the damage (Though it doesnt seem that hard to me), as far as the reach the way it generally works is the reach effectively Becomes that reach doubled, tripled whatever. A reach weapon strikes at 10, the large hits at 15-20, A Whip hits at 15 so proportionally it would hit at 30, the difference being you dont threaten out to there. If that is the case I might have to change Darius altogether because having that reach was a big part of his tactics and play for the future.. and going through all these feats for a meh, return isnt necessary then.

I'd hardly call 25 ft. Reach (20 of which you threaten, including adjacent) "meh". My main problem is when it gets into Huge territory it starts to get obnoxious with tripled Reach. I just got finished playing a Whip Inquisitor at high levels, using Lunge and Righteous Might together often, occasionally with a Monstrous Physique IV from our Arcanist or a scroll, and the GM and I both agreed it should be trimmed down because the one combat we had where I was walloping dudes from 50 feet away, and threatening 40 of that (whee! Trip. Whee! Disarm. Whee! Favored Target Bane attack.) was ridiculous.

5 feet less of Reach is not going to change your tactics to any appreciable degree, but it does cut down the tripling getting out of hand.

Jones.

You must have misinterpreted something then because With the Whip feats you only THREATEN Natural Reach + 5.. So at 30 or 25 you would threat out to 15 and Lunge doesn't work on AoOs. Becoming huge you would threaten 20 at the most. So there was likely some rules issues/mistakes there more than anything. And you should know more than anyone saying using a whip/martial ability and being 'ridiculous' is nothing compared to what you can do with the standard tried and true' martial options.

Darius gets slightly annoyed as his whip cracks of the Hide of the creature and He tosses a secondary (And last for him) Alchemist fire on the Whip.

The way I've always read it is that it's essentially meant to give you 10' Reach that threatens adjacent. So while Large you threaten 20, and Huge you threaten 30. But yeah, maybe I was reading too much into that. So yeah, if we run it so when Large you threaten 15 and Huge you threaten 20 we can use the doubled/tripled range. Doesn't change anything that's happened so far in this combat.
