Simon, there is a magic aspect to that trap, so I am not sure if what you are attempting will work.

She doesn't try to force him to stop though, if he wants to continue.

Hmm... I don't think I can open it either... you guys are better at lockpicking than I am. I might be able to dispel the magic though, if it wasn't put there by someone super more powerful than I am... which is always the trick, isn't it?

He looks at the trap from every angle, sniffs it out, bows deep and listens to the wood, takes a couple of steps back and hisses at it, then steps back in, all while whispering prayers to Gozreth. (Detect Magic, spend three rounds on the trap, guidance assisted Spellcraft)

I have been through this numerous times with other groups and PFS. you can only take 20 to search but not disable traps. as take 20 assumes you roll each number until success. and since any fail by more than 5 will set it off, and possibly preventing you from trying again. take 10 is allowed though. This is what I got as an official answer from Paizo

As a preparation to this dangerous attempt, Simon calls for Gozreths help several times, first to close the last wounds from before (CLW for max hp), then to shield him from anything the chest may emit (Air Bubble and 2*Protection from Energy: fire+acid) and finally, to guide his paws in the attempt (guidance).
Finally, he produces a rope from his backpack and hands the end to Grelthe, murmuring: "Just in case ..."
Is there any information on the trap (and maybe a tiny bonus?^^) I can get via either my Craft [Traps] or Profession [Trapper]?

Simon takes position over the chest with his pseudo-platinum bag in one hand. He grows still, then swipes and replaces the coin line he's batting at a mouse. Is faster than you can see. The coins don't even move.

A tiny ball of white flies into the room and Holy Crap It's Cold
The room is immidiately plunged into a thick fog which then almost instantly freezes on every surface; your skin, eyelashes, hair, clothes, weapons, and literally everything else. The temperature plummets what feels like hundreds of degrees in an instant!
cold damage, Reflex DC 25 for half: 15d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 6, 2, 5, 1, 2, 3, 4, 4, 1, 4, 6, 5, 3) = 49
This is a 40' burst, so all of you are effected

With a growl of exhaustion, annoyance and a massive amount of fear for her brothers life, the large cat is grabbing the smaller one at the neck with an unbelievable gentle lock of her maw and turns around and carries him back to the others...

As he comes round - still a bone chilling cold in every limb, Simon looks around with a fearful eye until he sees that no one died because of his failure.
"Sorry-miaur."

It takes all of five minutes, before Simon's curiousity takes the upper hand and he carefully approaches the trapped chest and another thirty seconds before he dares to look into it...

I think everyone but Vuzi rolled their saves. If Simon or Vuzi want to use some healing spells that would be sweet, but otherwise I can continue to plink away at our health with my wand?

I am all but spent - having used my last 1st and 2nd lvl spells to prepare (wrong) stuff for the "disable" action...
@Choon: I wonder what happened to that woman we saved *lol*. Please tell me she isn't a very solid ice block now ... that would be embarrassing in the extreme ^^
Also: Could you uncover those parts of the map we checked out? That could help us to decide whats next
@All: I'd vote to just barricade this room and rest here and now before moving on in any direction. If we run into anything with most of the party in the single-digit hp, we are screwed. And using up a full wand to bring everyone to at least half-hp does not sound like a very good idea either...
