This looks good to me. Once we adjust it for the few items that still remain to be appraised I think we'll just go with this.

GM, I know this is a small settlement. What's the gp limit on magic items for sale here? A belt of Dex +2 (4000g) would be awesome if it was on someone's flea market table.

Maps: Travel * Hut and more

Though not out in the open, Quasit is able to find such a belt. It's sized a bit oddly as its made for a centaur, but the same merchant can have it adjusted to better fit Quasit. The extra bit of work will cost a little more, (4200 total) but given Quasit's gift for gab happy to take a Diplomacy roll to adjust the cost accordingly.

Hey GM, any chance there might be a Ring of Sustenance (2500 gp) here as well? If not, would the merchant perhaps have more than one belt of Dexterity seeing as Q beat me to the first one? I doubt Boots of Elvenkind would be available as Centaurs have no need for boots...

Findurel, yes to the ring. Maybe on the belt. This merchant doesn't have another, but thinks a fellow he knows might. Bulvi, there is a crafts person that could made the modification to your shield. However, it would take additional time (more than just today).

2nd belt, high good: 1d100 ⇒ 64

Findurel is in luck on the belt. 4000g flat. Quasit's roll was that good. She saves an additional 200g (3800g total for her).

@Sakitu No worries. Take care of you. This is a good space game wise to slow for a time. With all that is going on it makes sense that posting would take a hit for people.

I might think of more later, but that's what I have for now. Let me know if any of that is unavailable DM.

All of that is available with the exception of the mirror. Do you discuss the need for the mirror with others?

I know everyone is a bit leery of mirrors due to witches, but Tez would certainly bring it up. I would assume he asks for help if he has trouble finding anything.

You've given me a good idea on how to bring it up in RP though.

No biggie if we cant find one though, it's necessary for the scrying spell which while fun and flavorful isn't exactly as essential as something like a belt of dex on a rogue or ranger.

As a side note it's completely cheesy and I am generally more comfortable with it banned in most games, but what is your opinion on the Blood Money spell? It might be useful for crafting or for casting spells with costly components at a manageable downside and it would be a potential candidate for the arcane enlightenment hex to steal it off the wizards spell list.

Let me simply say that with a spell like Blood Money there are some wonderful story telling opportunities that may very well present additional challenges to the party. GM nod's yes with mischievous grin.

There do seem to be some pretty steep draw backs and specifics concerning the creation of magic items so be sure to review those before you decide.

To my understanding, blood money can not be used for magic item creation.

---
As was mentioned before Fin isn't the only one looking for a ring of sustenance, though Selena would be happy getting the materials, including the scrolls for the needed spell.

---
I'll get my gear in order and double checked this weekend.

---
I quit my job as over 11 guards recently got tuberculosis and that seems normal for the prison. I have no desire to take that big of a risk of getting an incurable blood disease that'll kill me.

Sounds like a full week. I'll be taking a pass at the items with no clear cost over the weekend. I think most of them are AP items so should take me long. If you can get gear wish list sorted over the weekend that would be great. I'll aim to have everything set come Monday.

The only two issues I would see is that the pearl of power & efficient quiver.

The pearl only works for prepared casters and Sakitu is a spontaneous sorcerer as well as Tez already claimed it. The sorcerer equivalent item would be a Runestone of Power.

Since it took us two days go get to the settlement we have to wait for Bulvi's shield and I imagine it given the map it will take us at least double the time it took us to get to Vurnirn to get to Artrosa. So Tez should have time to craft one if Saki wants. It would only cost the craft cost and a few days.

As for the quiver I think Bulvi put a claim on it, but he might be willing to let Saki take hold of it instead since she hasn't picked anything else up. Same crafting thing goes for the runestone goes for the quiver.

Bulvi did say that he'd take it if no one else wanted it so, as Tez said, he might be willing to let Saki have it. I had mentioned a while back (before Bulvi got the composite longbow) that Sakitu oughtta pick it up since Fin had just bought one...

And since it's already established that Bulvi will be reincarnated, a gnome princess certainly will have no need of an efficient quiver... ;)

You're right, of course, that the pearl of power does me no good. And I hadn't noticed Bulvi took the quiver. He absolutely can have it.

I might take you up on the item creation Tez.

Sounds like the wand of ice spears is fine. I assume that that will adjust the amount of gp that I have for spending. I don't think I was looking at the right spreadsheet file link cause the one I saw was all empty of values (there were items, just no values).

@Saki Here's a direct link to the one I have set up and am using to keep track of things at least personally... Link

I believe if we divide the loot along claims where Saki gets the efficient quiver and we set aside an extra share to stock up on a few potions, scrolls, alchemical agents; which I would like to know if GM Lareg signs off on being available... our share of the loot should look like this:

Our share of the gold funds after claims divvied up:

Findurel: 6,239 gp
Tez: 5,389 gp
Selena: 4991.5gp
Bulvi: 4781.5gp
Saki: 4214gp
Quasit: 4139gp

Party fund after purchases: 1859gp

So we should be good to go on that just take whatever you buy in settlement out of your gold share and we should be mostly sorted.

----------

@Lareg there are two spells I would like to make use of before the day is through. Since I am using the lore wondering spirit one of my 2nd level domain spirit magic spell slots is Locate Object

Since the area is of it covers about 4/5ths of a square kilometer and it lasts a bit as he walks I think he will simply use that to determine if there is any silver mirrors suitable for scrying in the entire settlement for sale or not.

The second spell Tez will cast before going to bed is a bit flavorful, Akashic Communion it has a unique limitation of only being able to be cast once every class level. At CL 7 there are two subjects I can learn more about so I am thinking the first to be about Artrosa and the second general history frost giant tribes in the area.

Knowledge Rolls:

Knowledge History, Artrosa: 1d20 + 16 + 10 ⇒ (19) + 16 + 10 = 45
Knowledge History, Ioberia Frost Giants: 1d20 + 16 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 16 + 10 = 40

Would it be safe or reasonable to assume after projecting his consciousness to view the repository of all sentient experiences and rolling a 40+ on his check that he would know few select historical things that OOC I can pull from the pathfinder wiki on Artrosa and possibly if the frost giants in the area worship the demon lord Kostchtchie with a vague notion of who he might be historically?

I probably should have been more clear, the spell I would likely use it on is Visualization of the Mind which would give me a +5 untyped bonus to my spellcraft to be able to hit the craft increased DC on things that I am missing a few requirments for or deal with the increased DC of shortening the crafting time from 8 hours a day to 4.

Taking 1 STR damage that can be cured by lesser restoration is much nicer than setting 200gp of incense on fire for a +5 bump to spellcraft. That and I have a lot of spells that require you set a bunch of incense on fire that would be nice to use without becoming poor.

Maps: Travel * Hut and more

No luck on the mirror. The closest thing you glean is some polished rock / crystal mined from the area.

In terms of the Akashic Communion, I'd focus on this bit: "The GM rolls these Knowledge checks in secret, as the Akashic Record is incredibly remote, and impressions gleaned from the distant repository are sometimes skewed when received. On a natural 1, the resulting answer is wildly inaccurate."

Feel free to OOC pull things from the wiki. I'll make hidden rolls to determine what if any mis matches there are in terms of the knowledge. It would also be helpful if you could break down in detail where all the bonuses for the knowledge rolls are coming from. As I read Akashic Communion I am struggling to figure where 40 comes from: ("This allows you to attempt one Knowledge skill check of your choice per 3 caster levels you have, each with a +10 insight bonus.")

Snow Globe:
Tiny white crystals hang suspended in a clear fluid inside this fist-sized glass ball, which contains a miniature scene
of leafless trees in a snow-covered landscape. Shaking the globe (a move
action) activates it, and causes the crystals inside to fly wildly about the globe, taking on the appearance of a mad snowstorm for 1d6 minutes until they settle back down. Shattering an activated globe (hardness 1, hp 2) creates raging blizzard conditions in a 2-mile-radius circle centered on the location where the globe was shattered. In this area, temperatures drop to below freezing, winds blow at over 50 miles per hour, and heavy snow falls (see pages 438-439 of the Core Rulebook). It takes 10 minutes for the blizzard to form, and the conditions last for 1 hour before dissipating, at which point normal weather conditions in the area return. Once shattered, a globe of blizzards is destroyed. Worth: 4550 gold.

Lewd Sketchbook (forgot about this one. Though its of worth back in Whitethrone, but not here. We'll just count this one as sold prior to hut travel.) Worth: 1,000 g

Knowledge history using benefit of wisdom hex from the wondering hex lore spirit to replace INT based skills with wisdom. Spending a casting of tears to wine drink a bit of magic wine to get a +2 enhancement bonus to WIS/INT based skills for the duration of the spell.

Knowledge History = 7 Ranks + 4 Wis + 3 Trained skill + 2 Enhancement Bonus from Tears to wine + 10 Insight Bonus from Akashic Communion. Comes to +26.

I figured I'd simply roll for ease of use and speed on the meta which is where I referenced the 40, but if you would prefer to do the check in secret feel free both checks are at a +26. You can PM me or post in spoilers any outline of the details or parameters of what Tez knows. I figure since it's knowledge history it would mostly be dry historical knowledge.

Considering I get to use one casting every level I thought it would come in useful to use during downtime get a bit of IC knowledge on the ruins/dungeon we're going to face soon and what motive the frost giants we've encountered might have had.

Shame about there being no mirror, but I think it fits his style to simply use a divination spell to determine if the item he wants is present as opposed to being awkwardly haggling or something as uncomfortable as trying to talk to people to find it.

Tezuzu, Artrosa:
It is, as if for a moment you are seeing what she saw. Almost 2,000 years ago. There was Baba Yaga overseeing the initial construction of what would become three massive figures - a maiden, mother, and crone watch that have since watched over the lands once held by Kostchtchie himself. Also known as "The Three Who Watch," the figures represent the stages of womanhood. Each figure contains a magic-wrought fortress linked to the others by mystic portals. For reasons unclear from the observed experiences, she only inhabited her mas sive complex for a short while as she kept watch over the land to ensure Kostchtchie didn't rise up and reclaim the territory he once held. Before leaving Artrosa, Baba Yaga appointed a warden to oversee to the place in her absence. And then in a blur, the many travelers that braved the imposing terrain and treacherous weather conditions, to explore Artrosa remains. So many flashes of death. Many avalanches, cold, and the strange things surrounding the marshes. The few that made it to their destination over the years encounter something or someone who is and isn't. The glimpses remind you of what you saw of on of the watchers or wardens that Baba Yaga appointed. Most recently, there are sights of centaur that have taken to what you suspect is demon worship that offer resistance of their own to would be explorers. Even with all these flashes of failure, you are able to glean several facts. 1) Each figure - maiden, mother, and crone - features a dungeon behind it. 2) These dungeons are connected to one another by some type of magical portals. 3) Both guardian(s) appointed by Baba Yaga and squatters of sorts likely inhabit the structures.

I'll work on the Frost Giant stuff. Figured the Artrosa stuff would be more important.

This is a quick compile of AP info. As I encounter other bits I'll use spoilers to provide Tezuzu context based on what he's seen / remembers from the experiences he shared in.

Just a heads up. Based on player activity and AP suggestions I am going to ere on the side of player levels / player numbers being a bit more powerful and tweak as we play.

With that in mind you should start working on leveling your character to 8 as the group will level before entering Artrosa.

This makes me very happy, Maka gets her blue fire and the ability to blow things up with her mind.

Does this allow her to heat up bath water even quicker? ;)

Spent the weekend packing. We will be headed back to texas tomorrow. One of my old jobs is waiting for me at least.

---
Did we find a second Ring of Sustenance, or did I need to buy materials? It doesn't much matter to me, the ring will be faster, but the latter lets me make it as a necklace or something instead, so either way works.

-
Also will buy materials to make another reincarnation item if I can find a scroll for the spell (I'm aiming to always have two whenever possible, one for me, one for anyone but Fin [since he doesn't want it :) ]).

-
Will check my pricing, but will spend some of the leftover cash on ingredients for single use items. Direct combat hasn't been a great option for me, so Selena will try alternate tactics. For example, a snowball trap, a cord that shoots a snowball at whoever crosses it. Or a cord that becomes a sword (essentially casts the force longsword spell when activated), or the ironskin spell.

Basically spell-in-box items so she doesn't have to directly, and obviously, cast a spell in the moment. Setting the right triggers for the items can make them like potions or traps.

This does depend on how far you're willing to let me go with it though.

Materials for the ring / necklace can be purchased in town Selena. The trap / magic item ideas you mentioned sound fine in theory. We may need to hash out specifics, but I don't see any big issues.

So I mentioned Maka getting her blue fire composite blast and an explosion infusion. That would bump up her fire damage and massively increase her AoE damage, however it leaves her with the same weakness to things with fire resistance/immunity and spell resistance/immunity.

The other option would be to expand her elements, turning her in to an Earth/Magma bender as well as a fire. Earth attacks would do a bit more damage but target normal AC instead of touch, but aren't effected by elemental or spell resistance. I was already planning to do this with her third expanded element, but that wouldn't be until level 15.

I'm fine picking either fire or earth next level, so I thought I would bring it to the group.

*Edit* Water probably wouldn't be a bad choice either.

I'm nowhere near the best when it comes to magic...so you'll have to forgive my ignorance; but what does the blue fire do that the fire you already have doesn't?

As you've mentioned what your Earth option would do; what would water allow you to do?

As my questions are just to improve my understanding of her magic, I think you should choose either whichever you personally prefer or whichever you think would fit better with Maka's personality...

Next level I get my Expanded Element and the associated composite blasts. Composite blasts cost 2 burn but they deal twice the damage of a normal blast.

Picking fire twice would give her the Blue Flame composite blast, which is the only pure elemental composite blast. Meaning it is the only one that targets touch AC and does full damage with AoE infusions. Maka would have a 10ft radius fireball she could cast all day everyday with the extra infusion.

Picking Earth(or another element) would give me the composite with fire(in Earth's case, Magma which deals half bludgeoning and half fire damage) as well as a new earth blast to use. In addition, I can pick earth infusions and wild talents at -4 my level.

The earth basic blast let's me do bludgeoning, piercing, or slashing, where as the water blast would just be bludgeoning damage. There are number of infusion/wild talent differences but without getting into the weeds Earth lets me get a defensive talent to get DR adamantine and Water lets me get a defensive talent to get a shield bonus to AC.

Wow, they're all good; that'll be a tough choice. Fire seems good in this AP as so many creatures are cold-based and some have a fire weakness; unlimited fireball could wreak havoc. But earth gives you both earth and fire, as well as DR while water gives you blasts and a bonus to AC...

Don't think you can go wrong with any of those, Maka, just go with your gut...

Bah, I need to find an ice spell scroll in town of 3rd lvl, which I think means either sleet storm or icy spears. I almost forgot but that is the last thing I need so I can start the winter witch prestige class at lvl 8.

Maka, as a player you have every right to think strategically about leveling choices. As a character judging from the outside, I can only reason according to role-play considerations.

Maka doesn't seem like, forgive me, the most reflective of people when it comes to her gifts. She seems delighted with who she is, and she is someone who makes fire. Her personality is mercurial and emotional and extroverted, not to mention passionate. To me, it just seems like the natural progression for her is to simply deepen the channel she's already in and make mo' better fire.

Ok. I think I got my gear straightened out. Here's what I'm doing. Please let me know if this won't work.

- claim wand of ice spears (10 charges)
- claim efficient quiver
- sell shortbow for 15gp
- buy amulet of natural armor +1 (2000 gp)
- buy headband of alluring charisma (4000 gp)

This leaves me with ~554 gp. I think I'll just hold onto that for future purchase.

Once the GM says this is fine, I will update my profile online. Then I'll get things ready for level 8.

Selena and Sakitu you both have no issue finding those items. The scroll purchase does garner a bit of attention. I am a bit curious how the scroll purchase and prestige class connect.

@Maka I'll likewise echo Quasit from a RP standpoint it probably makes sense to go full headlong into being the most potent fire bending as possible.

Now if you wanted a good RP scene to play out for a good rationalization for mixing into a different element we could come up with a sparing session between her and Tez. Having a 2nd level and 3rd spell slot open during our watch last night that both characters share means he could cast resist/protect from energy fire and that could highlight the need for some diversity.

On the strategic meta most fights hitting harder and better with your fire is going to be better, but one of the downsides of your Kineticist set up is a mid to higher levels when spell resistance becomes common and immunity/resistances become more common you might run into a number of things you can't really hurt so the trade off is power vs. versatility. A good argument could be made for either.

Witches can perform a ritual to feed a scroll to their familiar so that it can learn it. Similar to a wizard learning a spell off a scroll and writing it into their spellbook book.

I believe she needs 3 different spells that have the cold descriptor to qualify for the prestige class she wants to take.

Couple questions for you;

It took about two and a half days travel to get from the hut to Vurvirn by the looks of it Artrosa is at least double if not triple that distance. About how long in days would we be traveling to reach there? I would relish the opportunity to craft items and days on the trail would give me ample of my most limited resource which is time.

What is the highest value onyx gem Tez might find in town? *No reason for this... just curious...nothing to see here... don't think about it too much... ;)

I had posted last page a party resource bundle to purchase of status removal scrolls, and cheap alchemical tonics, a wand of CLW, and an emergency scroll of breath of life. All the scrolls are between levels 1-3 and the alchemical tonics are cheap or common with the exception of the breath of life scroll which is 5th level. Just wanted to know if those would be available? Since you might have missed it and I didn't see you expressly address it.

@Saki Good eye on Akashic Communion I must have misread that. Thanks.

I think the only problem I see is that the sale value of your claims knocked off your share of the proceeds for selling the loot brings you down to just over 5k of gold once you sell the bow. Both items list for 6k together unless the GM gives you a discounted prices that makes up for the 1k you are short.

As a solution Tez can craft the amulet given two days and that cuts the 2k price in half giving you just enough for both.

Maps: Travel * Hut and more

Essentially any item up to the cost of 5000 gold is available. You could easily find a gem half that value (2,500 gold). Beyond that we'd need some Diplomacy rolls. Armor / clothing restrictions include the focus on centaur fitted items.

Travel distance is longer, but total time won't be proportional as the river essentially gets the group very close to Artrosa so there won't be an issue of negotiating forested terrain to the same extent. The group is looking at least three entire days travel not counting the current day.

I had over 1k of gp from previous sessions where I didn't spend it all.
