As you open the door and proceed further down the staircase, a purple light begins filling the hallway. you enter a room that looks much like a wine cellar, a few bottles still on the walls and shelves but many are shattered on the floor. in the back wall a few small holes look into another room large and circular one large wooden door in the western wall, a man stands in a room with a glowing purple orb placed upon a pedestal in the center of the room.
The man dressed in grayish robes a hood drawn over his face. he continues fiddling with the orb as another pale skinned humanoid creature, you can see pointed fangs enters the room. The new man takes a knee, Sir,our forces have been repelled they had a paladin and medusa the town may not be worth taking right now...though we have acquired the map, it seems there's an underground entrance into the castle it should bypass the shield, we can have forces storm it and find the girl soon.
The hood man's voice old and gruff No, i will go and handle this personally. Focus your effort's find the last shard, once the orb is complete we will be able to conquer the towns in the area easily. Have some more corpses stationed to guard the castle, we can't afford to lose resources to the wolves
The two men leave a large wooden door slams shuts. The orb begins to pulse with a purple energy
Ikkit Claw |
Ikkit takes a step back and let's out a low squeak, "We're definitely not putting it back together." He pauses and stares at the sphere a second longer trying to think about the consequences of smashing it.
Kn. Arcana: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
Seka of the Silver Wings |
Shards and orbs were not something she knew much about, so Seka left it to one of the others to figure out what to do about the purple glowing orb on the pedestal in the other room.
She pondered the fanged creature's words about finding the girl soon. Which girl? What do they want with her?, she mused silently to herself.
"We must not idle for too long. The hooded leader ordered for more corpses to guard the castle," she whispered urgently to her companions.
Seka's eyes moved about the cellar, wondering if there was something noteworthy (past the wine bottles and alike) in the space while Ikkit seemed to be staring at the orb through the small holes.
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15
Targan Blacklock |
"Put a bolt or two into it, or a bomb maybe?" Is Targan's suggestion, he has his crossbow ready and is looking around cautiously.
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9 (12 for unusual stonework, 11 for traps)
I hate you RNG.
Seka of the Silver Wings |
Seka stays back (remains in the cellar) for the time being and watches as Jokulmorder and Ikkit crouch and begin to crawl through the holes toward the purple-shining orb.
She keeps her gaze on the orb and the surrounding room. GM, how far is the orb from the wall with the holes we're looking through?
Perception for anything noteworthy or sign of threat/trap: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23
Stealth to go unnoticed in her spot: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
Seka turns briefly to Targan and very quietly asks, "Can you see if there are any traps from here? I cannot imagine they would leave the orb unintended if they mean to complete it and use it to take control of the towns."
She then casts Detect Magic through the opening into the room beyond.
Seka of the Silver Wings |
Before Targan slips into the room with the other two, Seka softly informs him, "All the magic is coming from the orb; I cannot tell if there is any other magical aura in there. I cannot see any traps." And with that, Seka then turns around and looks behind her to see if the back of the cellar is still safe and no one is attempting to creep up behind her, now that she is left alone inside the cellar.
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24
Seka of the Silver Wings |
GM, you only asked for Initiative from those entering the other room, so that's why I didn't roll one as Seka stayed put for the time being. Sorry.
Initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
GM_IamZero000 |
So here's the deal guys and gal's there are no enemies in the room that you can see just you all and the orb.
Initiative order
Ikkit
Targan
Seka - Not in room
Zheng
So Ikkit your up first for whatever you want to try out...
So here's the deal with one thing you can immediately notice, a 15 foot radius around the orb is difficult terrain due to how strong the orb's pulsing is at that point
Seka of the Silver Wings |
Seka crawls through the hole at the sounds coming from the distance (assuming she can hear them too as she is watching through the holes and rolled perception earlier).
She loads a bullet into her sling. Two move actions this round.
GM_IamZero000 |
Next round then...anyone want some friendly gm advice?
The sounds approaching get louder, though nothing yet.
the pulsing get's even stronger those within 15 feet of it. I count Ikkit, not sure if anyone else is though but if you are give me a will save.
Seka of the Silver Wings |
Seka is still 30 ft from the pulsating orb? I believe GM you said the the orb was 30ft from the wall/holes earlier?
Seka did as bid and tried to slip into the shadows by the wall behind her and away from the entrance. Her wings made it somewhat difficult and she was not as concealed as she would have liked.
Stealth: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12
What's the friendly advice, GM?
GM_IamZero000 |
Yea i figure you just entered the room your fine Seka. As for the advice well ... you don't want to have to fight the things that arrive...if it comes to that you might all very well ummm perish. it not only sounds like a lot of guards but they seem to be getting ever closer, maybe 2 or 3 rounds away
Seka of the Silver Wings |
Thanks for the heads-up, GM.
Having second thoughts, Seka addressed her companions, "Come, perhaps we should retreat through the holes and back to the cellar for we do not know the strength of our enemy at present and I do not have enough magic to heal us if we are very hurt," the Druidess quietly advised, and then proceeded to crawl back through the hole she had just exited and back inside the cellar, waiting quietly there.
Perception to see/hear when the enemy enter: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (12) + 10 = 22
Stealth inside cellar: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
GM_IamZero000 |
You sure that's the right decision? mwhahahaha, leaving such a powerful object still in the hands of the bad guy? take it with you or maybe it's to dangerous to take with you i mean it's magical and evil? there's also no guarantee you'll be able to get back here....My help came with a small price...
Seka of the Silver Wings |
Upon Jokulmorder's surly insistence and from her place by the hole in the wall, Seka reloads her bullet into her sling, aims and shoots at the orb, 30ft away.
Ranged Attack with Sling on Orb with Point-Blank Shot: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
Damage, if hits: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
This could have happened before Seka crawled back through the hole into the cellar. GM did say we possibly have 2-3 rounds before the bad guys enter.
GM_IamZero000 |
before we continue the rounds and reveal results i need to see what our friend does first
You hear a voice in your head telling you to fix the orb, a you feel the purple glass shard from early begin to vibrate and move.
Fix me young one, and i shall grant your deepest desires. All you need do is take me in hand and go...return me home
Ikkit Claw |
The curious Ikkit considers the voice's request for a second, Who are you? Where is home? He shakes his head trying to focus, No time now someone is coming, I'll be back later and we can talk some more. He retreats back from the orb through the hole into the shadows.
GM_IamZero000 |
Seka your shot connects with the orb piercing through what seems to be a force field around it. however it seems to only bounce off the sphere leaving little but a scuff mark. You can make a spell craft check to identify if you want, for that matter anyone can so long as you actually have the skill.
The voice though faint is still with you as you retreat Home, castle...help...
The shard of silver metal from early you begin to notice as been moving and vibrating the closer you get to the orb
GM_IamZero000 |
I'll assume everyone has retreated into the other basement. do you leave the room altogether or stay to see what comes in? what's the plan people?
No one's spellcraft so far has succeeded btw.
The piece shakes violently pulling you toward the orb it begins emanating a faint silvery light .
