Seka of the Silver Wings |
As soon as the door was opened and the cool air hit her face, Seka cast Detect Magic towards the area containing the chests, glass case and pedestal.
Seka of the Silver Wings |
"I cannot detect any magical auras in the room," Seka replied in low voice to Ikkit.
Following Ikkit's lead, Seka scanned her eyes around the room, aiding him in his endeavour.

Targan you know that you would need the proper tools to unscrew the bolts and the door to get them off somehow.
it'd take plenty of time, half a day minimum. even with your expertise.
That's not even mentioning how unwieldy and cumbersome these would bet to carry.
Targan Blacklock |
Targan sighs in regret. "Soon my precious, soon."
Making sure we have the coins and gems stored safely.
Have we taken the map?
Targan plans to spend his share on tools and come back for this mithril as quickly as possible.
Targan Blacklock |
Targan now has a disturbingly crazy look in his eyes. "We'll build a sled and you'll pull it all out of the swamp of course!" He says as if it's the most reasonable thing in the world.
Not being totally serious here folks.
Seka of the Silver Wings |
Seka looked from Targan to Jokulmorder. "We take what we can carry for now. The rest we hide and lock away down, here. We shall take the key with us and return later with a wagon."
Seka of the Silver Wings |
I have no issue with the group constructing a makeshift sled to pull the chests with loot back to town (through swampland). LOL Are there ready materials in this mithral room (cue the MacGyver theme song) or do we need to go back outside collect wood and such to build this thing and then come back down and collect each chest and load them up?
Targan Blacklock |
Much as it pains him Targan isn't serious about taking all the mithril.
Taking the coins and gems yes. Locking the door in an effort to keep the mithril untouched yes. But we don't have the tools to take it down, or a way to get it back.
Ikkit raises another good point, we may have stopped the source of undead, but still have to check the rest of the castle.
Seka of the Silver Wings |
"Aye, let us continue the search for now. Targan, lead the way, as I would rather not fall to a trap. "
Seka of the Silver Wings |
I believe we were in the derelict throne room because the secret passage and room were below the old throne. That's where we discovered and entered the cold Mithral lined room beneath the floor of the throne which housed the coins and map (like a secret treasury room perhaps?).
Seka of the Silver Wings |
Seka, with sickle in hand, followed behind Ikkit as Targan led the way to the unexplored chamber. The druidess kept her eyes open for anything of note or threat.

You wander your way back into the throne room, following a door in the back up a stair case one decrepit and barely standing. You find what was once a beautiful room, and definitely the king's, walls covered in rotting pieces of art and old rugs and fabric, clothign reduced to mere rag's by age. They're seems to be little of value, even upon closer inspection. most of what he kept as valuable being in his secret vault. Though you do find an old unmarked journal put away into a bedside table. However a small lock is keeping it shut.
Seka of the Silver Wings |
The room was not what it once was. The Thief King, whoever he was, certainly had wealth, going by the once-finery in his bedroom, now all faded and fallen apart.
As Targan picked up the old journal and worked on its lock, she marvelled at the dwarf's steady and true hand with the fastening. She waited beside Ikkit for the journal to be opened.
Targan Blacklock |
Nice to have something go right for a change.
"Nice little piece of work." Targan inspects the delicate clasp and lock. "It would be hellishly fiddly to make though! Wonder if there's a market for this kind of thing?"
He snorts, "Aside from angsty teens and their diary's that is."

I remember before the world went to hell, everything was a lot easier. but hey, at least i have this castle. none of the other's wanted to join me, too scared of what's in the swamp. I tried explaining there's nothing to fear, ever since magic started going it's gotten less dangerous. Less dragon's, the Sandpoint devil disappeared entirely.
My latest hunt, is a big one. A castle to the north is blocked off by some magic field, the inside of it is a magic zone. I've heard some rumor's how to open it from some of the local's, i would need to gather these crystal shards, i have one. I found someone to help me find more, he said he could help me control it's power as well.
More news there's someone inside the field trapped. A young girl, a child. When we get in there we are going to have to do something, can't just send her away.
Kainen is preparing some attack on a local town, we've gathered almost all the shards, there's one missing. Not sure where it is though. decided i'm just going to leave, old man Kainen creeps me out. He want's to make some massive army of undead. i think i should report it to Greywater, i may be a thief but i'm no killer. I don't trust the orb, it speaks, Keep's saying bring me home. Kainen brought in something else a white shard of metal, i recognize what it is. I remember stories of a holy blade it's power grew as it's wielders did. i don't trust it either, he put the two thing's together. that's when the undead began rising.
Seka of the Silver Wings |
As the contents of the journal were read aloud, Seka contemplated the information. Looking to the three males, she asked, "Have any of you heard the orb speak and ask to be brought home? I was not close enough earlier, but others were."

"So, there is a castle protected by magic in the north and the shards can help open it. I wonder how the child fares inside. I would not have her harmed - she appears important."
Jokulmorder Zheng |
" I didn't hear the orb speaking to me, but I do have this." He produces the metal shard he used to smash the orb earlier. " Shard of the holy blade huh. Fascinating. I wonder what stories this particular shard has to tell, and I wonder what remains of the rest of the blade. I'll have to get back to Greywater to have that figured out." He pauses to stash away his shiny treasure, turning back to the group " So we have to go back to collect the shards from the orb we smashed earlier?"
Targan Blacklock |
Targan summarizes what we've got so far. "So we make sure that Zheng's shard doesn't come near the pieces of the orb. Gather up the bits of orb we smashed."
He gives Ikkit a worried look. "Was it just talking, or was it trying to control you?"
"Maybe keep the pieces of this orb locked up in something where it can't talk to us. Head back to Greywater with our report. We do have a name to the person behind the undead. This 'Kainen'."
He looks at the other. "See if the undead are still a problem after we smashed that orb? Then see what we can find out about the castle to the north?"
And come back with tools and a wagon for all the lovely metal!
Ikkit Claw |
"I think if it could have controlled me it would have," he answers vaguely. I agree lets keep the shards and the orb pieces separate and if the undead are no longer a problem checking out the tower to the north sounds reasonable."
Seka of the Silver Wings |
"Still, do not heed that voice, Ikkit." Seka, too, agreed to keeping the pieces separate and in some chest away from those with less willpower. Seka looked at Jokulmorder as he laid formal claim to the holy sword piece but she did not remark upon it.
"I am good with returning to Greywater and then setting forth for the castle in the north."
Ikkit Claw |
"Still, do not heed that voice, Ikkit." Seka, too, agreed to keeping the pieces separate and in some chest away from those with less willpower.
Ikkit slowly nodded at this advise, "Of course."
Jokulmorder Zheng |
" So treasure behind the mirthril door and Orb shards from where the orb was? Are we perhaps venturing back to collect those?"
Zheng recaps for his own sake. He rummages around his packs , removing another shard of metal.
" Phew. So this is here as well."
Seka of the Silver Wings |
I believe we're heading back to Greywater to make our report and see if anything's changed from last we were in town. Then make preparations for our trip to the castle in the north. We will return to the ruins with a wagon and tools to take possession of the treasure we found and re-secured and also get the mithral doors.
Once a final sweep of the ruins was made, Seka took her place in front and began to lead the group toward Greywater.
