Ryn ventures down to the edge of the pier, looking for any sign of.....pretty much anything of significance.
"$#!+, there's something chittering in the dark and traces of spiderwebs. There's something pretty unpleasant down here." Ryn says in an unsettled tone.
"Bet it has eight legs and lots of eyes," says Azura. "Anyone got a torch we can toss into the webs? Maybe get some light and smoke it out at the same time?"
Zev let out a small whimper, he wasn't all that interested in fighting spiders again.
"I'm beginning to really hate spiders." She casts Bless on the party quickly before the spider gets to them.
”Me too.”
Me Three. Let's go kill them.
Ryn lights up a torch holding it aloft and looking in the direction of the noise.
Shaking her head Saersha said, "No, I have no fire to throw down there. I could prepare a spell tomorrow to ignite the webs but not before then." She looked down at all of the webs and then said, "As for going down there, you can all go, I'll wait until you're done."
Ryn shines her torchlight down the watery shaft... and nothing races up to meet her.
"Ada, do you still feel the call of the other piece of the rune thingy?" she asks over her shoulder while staring down into the water.
Ada pulls out the shard piece she has, and concentrates on it trying to sense where the other piece is.
Good idea. It feels like we've gotten a bit wander-y.
"Back to the stone stairway. It seems to be in that direction." She points back the way they have come.
"Okay, let's go!" Ryn says leading the way that Ada indicates.
Zev lets out a sigh of relief over not having to deal with more spiders as he heads along with the others.
With a different path available to them Saersha nodded and gestured for Embyr to come with her as she made her way back to the stairway.
The stairway is dark and foreboding, but the party continues downward, dauntlessly continuing their delve into the secrets of the Crow...
The stairway leads to a wide stone corridor, which in turn opens up into a massive stone chamber. This wide catacomb chamber has rows of burial niches cut into the stone walls. These have all been stripped bare of any former occupants. Half a dozen ten-foot-high mounds of dirt and debris dominate the floor of the chamber, reaching nearly to the ceiling ten feet above.
Ulfr proceeds cautiously ahead.
Ryn moves forward, keeping alert for any signs of danger.
"I wonder if that little blue guy was a guard," says Azura softly.
"Hey - more tracks. And there's something... off about the trim on that brickwork? Is that a hidden door?"
"Probably." Zev says while looking down at their blue captive.
When Azura points out the hidden door he moves over to investigate it.
"Damn! Good eye Azura!" Ryn says as they check out the area indicated.
As the party starts to move into the room, the piles of dirt & debris shift, and the sound of little legs moving fills the air. Emerging from the piles, with dark brown chitin & jaws that look strong enough to bite off a man's arm, are several large ants, each of them intent on making a meal out of whoever was foolish enough to trespass into their territory.
As the ants start pouring forth, Azura once again rises into her invigorating song.
Ada slaps Ulfr on the back and casts Guidance on him. "Get me some room to fight."
As the giant ants burst out of the dirt, Ryn immediately explodes into action, her shield coming up in a powerful uppercut strike, smashing into the gaping maw of the one in front of her. Stepping in with an elegant fluid motion, she drives her fist deep into the insect’s thorax, feeling chitin splinter beneath her fist.
With two swift blows, Ryn shatters one giant ant apart.
The remaining ants begin to swarm the brawler, with one biting at Ulfr...
...and faceplanting before scrambling back to its feet.
The rest of the ants bite at Ryn...
Ryn fends off three bites, but gets blindsided by two ants and takes bites to the leg and arm!
Zev feebly swipes at the bugs attacking Ryn and Ulfr.
Give exploits the ant's miss and smashes is head to bits!

Ulfr does, indeed, smash the ant's head like an overripe grape.
Zev, on the other hand, flails and fails to hit anything.
With the attack of the ants Saersha stayed back and said, "Keep them off of me Embyr." With that she chanted and cast a spell sending a glob of acid at the nearest ant.
Saersha's spell flies past the ant and sizzles against a mound of dirt.
Embyr nods at Saersha and darts into the room, drawing her hand crossbow as she moves. Natalya throws a spell of her own into the room--causing a patch of dirt to be coated in a fine layer of slippery grease. The ant flanking Ryn on her northeast flails about--
--but doesn't fall down.
Ada steps in flicking her whip at the orange ant. She mutters as she misses.

Practically surrounded, Ryn pays close attention to her footing, shifting to a slightly more defensive posture as she attempts to strike one affected by Embyr's spell with her shield
The ant in question narrowly manages to evade Ryn's shield strike.
Azura draws her rapier and, still singing, moves to assist Ryn.
Azura scores a hit, sticking her rapier between the ant's mandibles. The ant turns on her and bites!
The ant's jaws close around her arm and tear a bit of flesh away, leaving a bloody bite.
The remaining ants keep biting. One turns on Zev, and the rest try to chew on Ryn...
Zev leans back in time to avoid the ant's bite, its mandibles snapping shut inches from his face.
She does a better job of fending off the ants this time, except for one of them biting her in the side. The bite narrowly misses something very important.
Ulfr steps around Ada and engages orange!
Foxy runs around Ulfr's feet as he moves, but doesn't attack. She just growls and yips.
It's quite telling that even in the throes of anger and with wild swings, Ulfr's strike still horrifically maims the ant, slicing off one of its front legs with ease.
Zev swipes at the bug wounded by Azura.
Zev slices into the ant's back, causing it to whirl on him.
Moving closer to teh fighting, and not wanting to waste a better spell when the odds of hitting were so low, Saersha chanted and sent a glob of acid out at one of the ants .
Saersha misses with her spell. Again.
Embyr circles around to the back of the northeastern wounded ant and fires!
And the shot skips off its back.
Natalya cringes and moves up, unlimbering her crossbow, and takes a shot!
Her shot is no better than Embyr's.
The ants swarm around Ryn, Zev & Ulfr...
...and they suffer bites & scrapes. Ryn fends off two, only to get bit by another. Zev almost escapes his opponent's jaws, and Ulfr's sword arm gets bit hard.
