Aasimar Bard explorer

Resnit walks out with a slight grin and a jaunty step heading for the quarters he chose for himself.

>>Oh yay, I get to explore the desert. I have walked through deserts there is a lot of sand. So much sand. Oh well maybe I will manage to find one of those magic shards. Should probably take some time and study up on the lizardmen. Things would get real dangerous real fast if they start fainting from the heat. Maybe there coldblooded and this will be easier then I thought. No wait the desert gets cold as a witches tit so coldblooded creatures will be useless at night.<<

He takes out some paper, ink and note book.

>>Never mind first thing tomorrow check on the lizard folk, next requisition the supplies to carry extra water for the party, Hot weather clothing so they don't collapse on me. Do I take the rangers? Nah I will use this time to get the measure of the of the lizardmen and Usul plus it will give me time to learn Draconic. Need to stage the party so Usul can head back to the party to resume his duties before they build up to high on him. Should give him the boat so he can get back faster.<<

He stretches, yawns a bit and turns to his shadow which is trying to wander into an alley way.

Come on its time for bed.

Human Marshal

Girianar sighs at Ssisal's statement. Looking at Bastion he thanks him and says

Bastion don't worry about it I know enough Draconic to get by in this conversation.

Turning he looks at Ssisal and starts speaking in understandable Draconic

I am going to hope your statement was just ill thought out. Regardless the answer to your question is no I am not your chief, and yes you have to listen to me when I tell you to do something. Myself, Usul and Bastion are all responsible for different parts of defending our territory. I guard the borders, Bastion controls the army and your chief guards the city.

Thinking back to the letter Girianar realizes his speech may be a bit much for the young lizardman.

You know never mind. Usul is your chief he has given his and your loyalty to Klokk I have also done this. I have to enforce the laws. Klokk says don't open the door, you opened the door I am enforcing the laws by punishing you understood.

Apparently I was at level 5 so I spent an sp on learning draconic.

Male Lizardfolk Invlunerable Rager / 8

"No, Ssisal - you cannot handle yourself as is, so you obey only me. Others able to do as they are told may heed his words."

Speaking of heeding words, Usul had a great deal of difficulty just processing what he was hearing. Numerous languages must have flowed around the table, but even with the ensorcelled earring, he felt like a fish out of water with only have the telepathic conversation audible to him. In fact, he didn't even comprehend why he was only hearing half. A bunch of madmen. The metal creatures seemed more direct, but they used large words. It wasn't long before his head hurt.

He would need to speak with the elders which hopefully gathered more of the conversation. They were used to all the mouth-words. But Usul did understand one idea.

"Sleep, yes. We find a warm place." Usul knew it had been a trying day for the tribe; they needed downtime.

Sorry about the sparsity, but it's a bit cumbersome to play a primitive at a table with multilingual + psionic conversations about worldbuilding. It's a bit beyond Usul's ken.

Ssisal looks from Usul and vary strangly at the marshal and even stranger at the weird metal thing that usal says is as person inside then he looks at his the stick he hardened in the fire upon arriving.

1d20 ⇒ 1 Ssisal stabs the spear at Bastion, shattering the spear intentionally against the breastplate of the Full plate armor that the General is wearing.

Ssisal than squats down on his haunches picking up the spear in both claws he holds it up.

In draconic"Chief, Marshal if I.. ..to be of use.. ..other that than to die. want.. defend hay-vain.. .What must this one do.. to earn metal?

Human Marshal

Sorry was waiting for Bastion to talk but then remembered he is busy irl.

Shocked at the lizardmans action and ready to defend himself and his comrades, Girianar stops at his words. Girianar stares at him for a long moment.

If you want to earn metal, the first step you need to take is to earn our trust back. You lost that when you chose to satisfy you desire to open the door rather than make sure all your people made it through the tunnel.

Girianar tuns and walks away the faint memory of a promise dancing in his head he strides forward to look for the box given to him from the church of Desna.

Fabricator, after recovering the shovel and testing it out, divides his time the next week (barring interruptions) overseeing the creation of arms and armor for the militia, overseeing and assisting with mining operations, and assisting with land-clearing operations with the aid of the shovel.

While remaining at the table incase anyone chooses to stay for idle chatter, Thutmose looks over his notes to make sure he has all his thoughts in order. "Guess they were tired, must have had some intense day.." he says to himself as he reviews his journals "I have too much to plan for anyways, quite a bit to string together."

Bastion took the swing and barked a soft laugh. "This one is amused by Hisses attack. He is right also... They are ill equipped for warriors of their prowess and this one will see that the Warforged see to that over the next week. Now if there is nothing more? Good. I think I will go take a circuit of the force river. I will see you fleshy ones in the morning!"

Tehuti: <<Please remain behind after the others leave. I'd like to talk to you.>>

After everyone else takes their leave, Feorina slowly shuffles next to Thutmose and sits next to him. "What do you know about the deathless?"

Male Samsaran Level 1 Gravewalker Witch

Thutmose takes a moment to collect his thoughts on the matter

what kind of knowledge roll would that be? Arcane, Plane, or Religion? Well, my bonus for my knowledge rolls are the same.. so if it falls under Arcane, History, Nature, or Planes.. Knowledge: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23

Female Lashunta Psion 2/Arcanist 1 (Grand Diplomat)

I have no idea, but it might be more related to your deity. At least that's what Klokk suggested.

Feorina asks her daughter to use her own religious knowledge, so that Thutmose can contribute using his own knowledge, even if he doesn't know much by himself.

Assuming the call to mind is allowed, then that's 28 for Knowledge (Religion). But since it's actually his god, then it might not just rely on checks

In remembrance, he replies while stroking his chin "From what I recall.. the deathless are some what of a counterweight to the undead. Whereas the undead stand between of life and death in defiance of nature, the deathless are trying to avoid the inevitable usually to finish or complete some kind of virtuous task. Instead of being fueled by plane of Endless Night like the undead, they get their power from the Eternal Day.. or well, the place were souls come from.

They're not complete contradictions though, theres a lot thats similar between them, like they don't eat, sleep, breathe, or get sick. You know, the basic things." Thutmose leans back in his chair as he finish "What sparked your interest? I might be able to figure out more for you later on."

Far as the Earn Magical Income
I need a Knowledge check Arcana/Religion/Spellcraft/Psionics(think that falls under planes). *Note this is your skill, added as you can with your abilities but no item can aid you.. only skills/feats.
You need 50g to earn 1 point of magical Capital (worth 100g)

So your week Feorina will cost you 100 Gold, Will get you the feats exchanged and a portion of that magical capital depending on your roll total.

Female Lashunta Psion 2/Arcanist 1 (Grand Diplomat)

Don't we have little chests that can get 100 gp from the treasuries? If it doesn't quite work that way, then I will ask Verio for 50 gold to pay back later, during my discussion about getting that magical workshop.

The thing says that I can spend time working to get magical capital without spending the money, but I don't get the capital until I spend the money, so I will just spend my time accumulating unpaid-for-capital.

Dem downtime rules are complicated. :o

Downtime Rules wrote:

It is easier to keep track of your earned capital if you pay for it as soon as you earn it; otherwise, you also need to track earned capital you don't yet have (because you haven't paid gp for it yet).

Sczarni

NG, Large City Corruption: 3, Crime: -2, Economy:+29 Law: +6, Lore: +8, Society: +1

Think of it like this. With magical capital.. your basically making an everburning torch. That is all you can produce right now with downtime, until you run into another culture to sell your stuff to OR Kingdom of Haven buys it from you at whatever price you can negotiate with the treasurer.

That's the downside to basically be stranded in a somewhat high magical/technical setting on what you assume is a Vary-very remote coastline in a world that is with the exception of about 60 square miles is unexplored.

You do indeed have that 100gold from the chest, I thought you spent it as on your sheet it says 5gold. If you still have it. That will cover your feat retraining. The other 50g you have will cover 1 day of magical capital building. Which will require be based off whatever check your class would use to research new spells. On day 7 if you want to earn more magical capital you would need an additional 50g for that.

But as Kingdom of Haven has exactly 2000.00 gold in the treasury, that request may or may not be approved.

I am not going to allow it you to earn capital without the coin the invest in it.

Reasoning: :
Coin is one of main balancing factors in the downtime rules, beyond time it is the most important foundation of them. If you want to really be technically the only capital allowed to be earned is GP -- Which Haven would have to pay right now as that is the sole source of GP in the world atm -- If you have a craft/profession where you can make something from stone/wood/iron/copper/potatoes/grapes/fermenting wine.

Also because you can not start crafting a magical item without having its material costs on hand I am applying to magical capital as well.

The huge problem with earning Goods/Magical Capital that you all have to overcome..

There is exactly 1 market that you can sell to.
The sole market is Fabricator in his role as the Treasurer of Haven and the heir who has no restrictions unless he gives himself some. Those two are the only ones that can approve where even a copper of Haven treasury goes to and Klokk too as Ruler but he already said hes leaving it in your hands.

In order to have a viable market other than the Kingdom of Haven you need one of three things to happen.
1 You need to find other civilizations and set up at least an embassy there and a trade route.
2 Give the Council, citizens and troops a salary. Of which you have that 2000GP in the big chest. If you want more coin you need to build a

Mint:

Cost: 30 K(Which would take 100% of your current Crowns (BP/K)
Size: 1 Lot
Haven Kingdom Bonus's: Economy +3, Loyalty +3, Stability +1, Fame +1
Function: This is a secure building where the kingdom's coinage is minted and standard weights and measures are kept.
Note: Each month if you wish to produce coin's instead of K's you need a separate mint for each mine's products.

For example, Month 1 you build a mint. Month 1, you have the choice to dedicate one of your mines to produce copper coins or iron coins (you have 1 of each mine) instead of K's for the treasury.

everyone with the exception of the 100gold already issued to people and taken out of the big chest already (not counted in the 2000gp) beside your characters has zero copper to their names. In history for those of you that do not know Eberron lore.. the warforged work for free/repairs they have never been given a salary. Pre-Council things have kinda worked on a nbg system. take what ya need, put back more then ya took. That changed when you all sat down on the chairs. Warehouses became "locked". all supplies awaiting your issuing there of next week.

Female Lashunta Psion 2/Arcanist 1 (Grand Diplomat)

The point of the rule was that you can't get capital without investing the money, but you can spend the time so that later, when you have the money, you have already spent the time and only need to pay the money. But anyways, is that your houserule that that is not an option?

Since the amount of coinage is so limited (coinage being the magically valuable item), we might consider issuing fiat currency that can function for every other aspect of coinage, besides the manufacture of magic items.

We can then use magic items as the monetary reserve to insure our fiat currency, and effectively circumvent the problem of actually minting coinage. I believe we can quadruple our financial reserves in this manner.

Later, we should consider starting a bank to further pump additional money into the economy by leveraging our assets further.

step a good.. Cept there is no operations this week to assist with. You could use the shovel to make some K worth of stone.. but then it would not be able to be used next month to allow an extra building to be started.
step b - cant make the magic without nothing. Another way to look a it is that the magical capital = time for crafting magical items.
step c - this is factored in. it is what all 400 of the civilian/troop warforged and the Stonescales are doing this week. crafting arms/armor moving things into the warehouses.

OK, i was not aware that doing something with the shovel one month precluded its use the next month.

i was wondering about that, i thought the magical profit were something in terms of knowledge gained/lessons learned. if this is not the case, i would spend my time elsewhere crafting items or something perhaps?

i was hoping to assist, perhaps giving them a +2 on checks or speeding up the process to free their time for mining.

Female Lashunta Psion 2/Arcanist 1 (Grand Diplomat)

I was under the impression that it was like writing up blueprints for a magical item. I don't actually get a magical item out of it yet, but I just need to spend the money for the prototype, because I already have the plans. Then I can apply the knowledge from the prototype to make it easier to make the magical item itself.

I assumed that it was a house rule because it's different from what it said in the downtime rules and was just clarifying, because you can't really point out flaws with a house rule, but you can fix a misunderstanding with what the rules say.

Fabricator, can you loan me 50 gp and then money to generate magical capital? I will then return the magical capital to pay for the loans. Afterwards, you can borrow money from the treasury, paying it back with a guarantee that you can craft the magical capital into a magical item of someone's choosing.

Then we issue fiat currency. This gold piece bill is worth this amount of money, which can be exchanged at any time by the bank.

RETIRED Artificer 4

"We would need to have a council meeting to determine the type of magical capital you are seeking to generate. As it stands, we have a number of priorities that could best be described as basic necessities, chief among them being mining and logging operations, building of structures, explorations to be financed. Not to be forgotten is a mint, lest we appear backward to any civilizations we come across. But if the Heir is fine with depleting our operations capital for your project, or the council makes a favorable vote on it, then it should be no issue. I hesitate to make that call unilaterally with so many other concurrent projects, however."

Silver Crusade

Male appears as a Dwarf to the Eye DM Level 0

Someone will have to pay the XP cost for the item, its not like Haven has a million XP sitting in a craft reserve within the Creation Forge. Even with downtime rules you must pay the XP cost. This week for Klokk cost a fair bit of XP from his reserve. as you can see from the other thread. Fabricator has a reserve of X magical energy he can scribe scrolls with the XP in that crafting reserve but that reserve is as much his class ability as his infusions are and for all you know it could be empty atm.

Once you negotiate with Haven and have Haven decides to both build a market & agree to buy from you are totally welcome to make the magic and goods capital.. but im going to stand that you cant do it without a valid market. Ive been thinking bout it all day on and off I just cant see how it would be possible. I can aorta see the blueprint thing, but the problem is on day 7 you need 50g that you don't have to make that blueprint, if you wanna use that analogy. IF you can find someone that wants to give you half their gold sure by all means. im trying to wrap my head around how it could be done without the gold cost.

Still In need of what a few of you are going to do this week. Ill give till Thrusday/Friday and if the rest of you don't post the week ill just have you "earn xp."

Female Lashunta Psion 2/Arcanist 1 (Grand Diplomat)

Okay, well say I don't even need a blueprint. I just need to create an elaborate plan in my head. Now I just need money to put that plan into practice by investing money to actually build the thing.

A blueprint is just a plan, so probably just a series of pencil sketchings, not costing any money. Magical capital is intentionally very vague. If you read the rules, you can interchange any type of magical capital for any other type of magical capital. Anything for that is just fluff (which I think I've given a plausible explanation for a fluff), but mechanically it is solid. The magical capital may be an interesting idea to use in a generic magical item, and then it can be used in any magical item.

I will actually spend all my time earning experience.

In the middle of the first week in haven Resnit calls a meeting of everyone but Klokk. Standing behind his chair letting the light from the window catch his face to bring out his natural glow he stares at the rest of the group.

My friends I have news both great and grave to give you. As you know I have been exploring the area around Haven for the last few months with some of the warforged. What I didn't know was that some of the warforged had discovered this while we were travling.

He places his hand under his jacket and revels the a wayfinder to the group.

This is a wayfinder of the forged and was found on a dead body near the desert. The bones were so old that they crumbeled into less then dust as the warforged touched them. But this is proff that there are others out there in this world. I did not tell you all about this immediately because I have been so busy preparing for my exploration that I haven't had the time until now.

"I found it unlikely that we were the only ones in this world. Does the wayfinder tell us anything about the direction from which the explorer came? Perhaps since the wayfinder needs some sort of beacon to understand the lines of magic, we can deduce where it was first manufactured."

I have looked but found no such telling thing on it. Any of you may examine it if you chose but it will not leave my person it is binding its self to me and will be usable by the end of the week. I want to use it during my explorations. Here is what I know for certain about it verbatim from the warforged letter

Resnit takes out the note and assumes a lecturing air.

When carried for 7 days, 1 full week the following benefits are gained.

1: We have modified it so that you are tireless having no need to sleep. You must spend an hour mediating to regain an daily ability's and 8 hours in a revere(like the old 2e elf sleep) to regain any magic. Exactly like us Forged ones.

2: If you press the right top button it will Purge Invisibility from creatures within a 50' radius around you that moves with you for a limited time (1r/HD of wielder split up per day as you wish) It also enhances your Perception while the purge is in active (+10 Perception) mode.

3: While bearing it you are subject to a constant endure elements effect.

4: If you press the bottom right stud it will point instead of at the creation forge to some other location, we have not explored it yet, it appears to be west of here somewhere.

5: You no longer get as lost in this world(+2 survival to avoid getting lost) as you have before.

Giriandar stands up after Resnit finishes his reading

If you have seen me recently deep in conversation with Joel, it is because I too have an object of power that was given unto me. When I was young an elf oracle of Desna gave me a box and bid me not to open it until I found the right door way. The passage Klokk took us through seemed the right path so I just opened it last night. It seems to be an orb that controls the weather. I will now read the scroll that was with it.

This item was originally created to lock a jarl's prison. That Jarl has been moved to another world so it is safe enough to give one such as you the key.. in fact no better place to hide it.

This Key has another effect. For 20 miles(it and touching squares on Table Map) around where it placed and after 24 hours of not being touched, the weather will be changed. the area will be calm winds, 70*, light mist in the morning and a good soaking of ground over night.

Note that all magical attempts to control the weather automatically succed in its area of effect. So if someone were to try to control the weather in its effect they would have full control over the weather for the radius of the Orb

Joel is the only one who may know more as I have given him the orb to study these last few days.

RETIRED Artificer 4

Fabricator comes to the meeting as bidden, but has little to say. He seems as if he is focused on other things and is anxious to attend to them.

Just rolling for joels research checks for you.. Even with his bonses.. Spellcraft reveals nothing usefull that you do not know. His Arcane was almost high enough but not to reveal anything other then the orb was build upon Golorian Many years ago. He would have apologized and revealed that to you

Resnit is taken aback over Giriandar's words execpt I am not because I am also Girianar;) and turns to the group

Has anyone else an object of power they wish to share with the group.

"Thank you Resnit, thank you all. So before you head off on your exploration Resnit, I would ask that you help me plan the trip. If I am to be the ruler, after Klokk has left, I would like to know how things such as this are planned!"

My first Edict. Awesome! :D

Aasimar Bard explorer

Smiling at Verio Resnit nods his head

No problem, I still have a couple of days before this thing attunes for me.

Female Lashunta Psion 2/Arcanist 1 (Grand Diplomat)

"Speaking of objects of power... Feorina points at her head and at the heads of others in the council. "Knowledge is an important commodity that we hold, that others in this world do not."

"I request the construction of a small building, perhaps only one or two small rooms, to host the meetings of diplomats and fellow knowledge-seekers. We likely lack the resources to construct a grand building, but a small building would be more than ample for an office space and sitting room. It could be attached or close to Verio's palace, for instance."

Verio pales slightly, staring at Feorina. "P-palace? No. God no. We do not have the resources to waste on a Palace. You will have your building and I will make do with a bunk in the barracks like everyone else!"

Silver Crusade

The door to the Tavern opens and in walks both Samanthia and Joel, nodding to the rest of you they take their seats at the Table. Joel pulls out a pipe and packs some lucky nine-leaf clover into it, he ignites it with a spark form his fingertip. Taking a vary deep pull he lets it out filling the air above the table with smoke. Samanthia gestures at the smoke with her fingers and it takes shape into the image of Klokk and it speaks

”This is perhaps a strange way to speak with you.. but Joel and Samanthia both promised it would be efficient and work for communication with you all. Today is the 29th of Pharast . Tomorrow will mark the first of Gozran for those from Golarion. For those of you from Eberron Today will be the 29th of Therendor with tomorrow will marking the first of Eyre.”

“One of you first orders of business is to come up with your own calander for this world. There are 8 months of 28 days and 4 months of 29 days. (Months 3, 5, 7, 11 have the extra day in them) You will need to name your months. Because remember if you travel back to your worlds, a year will have passed for you, but only a month will have passed there.”

”I know half of you are ready to go out into the wilds. And the rest of you want to do more then just sit and read, you want to turn this fledgling outpost into a true and honest kingdom.

Haven info:

BP: 36+.5 (They found some more stuff stashed alongside the roads)
Consumption: .5
Economy +17, BP +0, Stability +30, Defense +26, Unrest -14, Loyalty +14, Crime -1, Law 4.

Council Turn goes like this.. There are three parts:

Upkeep Phase
Step 1 - Haven Stability Check: 1d20 + 30 ⇒ (11) + 30 = 41 +=1BP
Step 2 - Pay Consumption: -0.5 (½ standard unit size of Stonescales, Council eats negligible amounts of food does not count. All the forged ones do not eat.)
Step 3 - Fill Vacant Magic Item Slots: (none available)Magister you would roll for these.
Step 4 - Modify Unrest: -14 Warden if there ever gets into the + you roll a check to lower it as per Royal Enforcer.
Step 5 - 1-0.5=+0.5

Activity Phase This part should effect almost all of you.
Step 1 - Assign Leadership: Verio must decide on a clear chain of command for all members of the Council. Klokk is above him, Joel is beside the rank of heir in authority. Samanthia is not in the chain of command. Everyone else is below Verio.

Step 2 - Claim & Abandon Hexes: You may claim any of the Squares within 5 of Haven that have no improvements upon them yet. All current squares of the Kingdom have improvements. They have been explored by Resnit and his explorers. They did not prospect for metal though. It costs 1 BP to claim the Square as part of Haven, and must be touching a part of the kingdom that touches a settlement.. IE must be adjacent to current improvement.

Step 3 - Build Terrain improvements: You may spend BP for terrain improvements.

Step 4 - Create and Improve Settlements: You may create a new settlement, or add improvements to your current Settlement.

Step 5 - Create Army Units: General you may commission new warforged to be built for your army or conscript civilians to army. Subject to approval by Treasury saying we can afford it and Verio signing off on it.

Step 6 - Issue Edicts:
There are many different Edicts that can be issued. Those of you with the authority to do so, may do so. Subject to Verio's approval of them.

Verio you have issued the Exploration Edict. Do you want the Explorer to return before or after the next council meeting in 4 weeks from today?

The final step is the Income Phase this is mostly the Treasury's role.

Step 1 - Make Withdrawals from the Treasury: 1 K(BP) = 1000gp if you cash them in. +1 Unrest per BP you withdraw as coin. Fabricator you have full discretion over this. Verio can overrule you but the treasury is your department. You do vary much get screwed in converting to gold pieces. This can not happen until you have a Market & you have encountered a culture that is at least neutral towards you that could buy it from you, or the Door is open.

Step 2 - Make Deposits to the Treasury: 1 K(BP) = 4000G if you deposit Stuff into the warehouses.

Step 3 - Sell Expensive Items for BP: IF you have a market you may attempt to sell items valued more then 4000 gp. (Market Value/2)/4000=BP gained

Step 4 - Collect Taxes: Taxes are set at zero. IF you received permission to set them, you may do so.. subject to verio's approval."

The smoke finally disperses. And Joel speaks up.
”Klokk can be a fair bit long winded when he gets excitable. Let me make it simple for you. As Klokk has taken over my tower it is off-limits, so none of the magical items that may normally be available are because he is using all of it. There is nothing to do for the first section.”

”First things First. Heir Verio if you would be so kind as speak aloud your chain of command that the Table may record it and everyone upon the Council hears with their own ears what their rank within the Council is."

"Second is to decide if you wish to claim any of the squares adjacent to any current improved squares. If so it will cost one Crown per square to incorporate it into the Kingdom of Haven."

"Third is to decide if you wish to improve any of those newly claimed squares or leave them fallow. "

"Forth is simply adding a new building to Haven City or building a second city somewhere in the kingdom. You need to decide which one or two(if you use the shovel) buildings to start construction on."

"Fifth after that is the time to issue any Edicts that your Role authorizes you for. After that we will deal with the third phase. but this should take a little bit to decide what to do. If you need I can offer suggestions, but Klokk said to leave it up to the Council."

RETIRED Artificer 4

"I suggest we use at least part of our time to prospect our areas for metals. We also need to increase our logging and mining so that we may have resources for further expansion."

Furiously scribbling in his notebook, Avelloran documents the meeting, transcribing in his own shorthand.

"We'll need a library, and I'll need a tower...yes a tower to start."
He says this out loud but not really talking directly to anyone, he doesn't look up from his paper, accept to waive away some of the smoke.
