Im just a little confused by what the guard meant she she said this. When she says disregard, does she mean to say she's overlooking the fact that i have a weapon on me because I shouldn't. Or is she disappointed that I didn't have it strapped on and ready to wield?


Almas is a pretty laid back city but anyone carrying anything larger then a dagger or around that size is not normal. Outside adventurers, guards, and mercenaries etc. Carrying a border line exotic sword around the docks while claiming your a regular tavern girl does not look good. That's sort of like walking around with a rifle in your bag everyday, even the most laid back people are going to wonder. ;P

That's what she meant by it. Not unheard of mind you but not normal ether.

I don't have a problem with it. Im pretty flexible with how this story rolls out.

Meant for the post to include what she wants to do after shopping but life got in the way. Specifically she hopes to find, a potion of protection from evil and touch of the sea, a masterwork backpack and a gold ring with ruby worth 150 in gold, for the purposes of getting the benefit of my trait.

I rolled Gather info since i figured there was unlikely to be a giant sign that said ''potions here'' but the rest I figure will be readily available no problem.

I debated between climb and profession sailor but ultimately went with climb. Prof Sailor will wait till next level.

Your staying in Augustana, West Copperdown is the district he will be in. It's pretty much the slums of the city. He is a human, male, and laborer that goes by the name Ahlir.

Their is not much on him sense if their was then you wouldn't be needed.

Damn. did they start out as hostile? I thought a diplomacy check of 25 would have bought me at least one less opponent for sure.

Still this is why this is my favorite campaign that im currently playing. Almost every time you post, I have a slap to the forehead ''D'oh'' moment where I realize how I might have avoided this situation. Very much enjoying this and I am hoping you're enjoying running.

Also as an aside the knowledge check is for whether or not she knows the likely hood of guards patrolling this area in numbers. I have some ideas for ghost sound.

These guys are thugs and while not overly bright they are the masters of their rather small domain. Your diplomacy was high but your actual words (manner really) and clearly expensive ring that you neglected to hide worked against you. Pretty much sealing your fate of being robbed.

Glad to hear your enjoying it. Sometimes I wonder if I am being to nit-picky about stuff.

Concerning the knowledge roll.

The chances of guards is small, the slums are rather extensive and gangs tend to be the local force of order. Very rarely do patrols come this deep and always in large numbers making them slow. Yet you also realize that the gangs that rule the slums are numerous and antagonistic. Meaning they watch and defend their territories from rivals viciously and without exception less they lose what they have won. They don't stray far as a result.

Figured the ring was gonna sink me. I wasn't kidding about the forehead slapping either. I was in the breakroom at work and literally hit myself while cursing. I don't find you nit-picky (yet?). Nice to see a Dm that isnt fast and loose with everything.

I think my brother said you use theater of the mind when doing your campaigns (most seem to) but could I get the dimensions of the street as you envision them? At least the width anyway.


Yeah maps are not my thing and in this type of game even more so sense they move faster. Maps end up taking more time then combat itself.

The streets in the slums are not uniform or even straight. They tend to be 5 feet to 10 feet wide most of the time, not counting side streets and allies. The two robbers got you in a sort of egg like section. Which is what allowed them to block you in effectively, at least not without passing them.

Not that I think it matters much at this point. x)

As a quick aside, does Zatsa get any kind of glimpse of her savior? As per Raw she's unconscious and the answer is no I believe.

Sorry she only saw him from a distance before she went down, but only as a cloaky blur that may have been her imagination of death come calling. He was gone before she woke up.

In case there is any confusion:

Knowledge is to identify his race, stealth is to hopefully avoid people seeing I had a quality scimitar on me and the disguise is to appear as a beggar. Not sure if I get a circumstance bonus of some kind for the props.

P.s Would the cold iron dagger or breastplate or longsword have any magical auras from detect magic. Answer has to be 'no' given its the first encounter but I'd kick myself if i didn't ask.


Sorry none of the gear is magical. It's all common mass produced fare. Only the potion reads as special.

Didn't really expect any of it to be magical considering level one and i lost that fight :p

Still I just had to be sure.

I grabbed the potion, the dagger and longsword, the gold and the tindertwigs. I would have liked to have taken the breastplate and sold it, but my poor bag probably would not be able to fit it at this point.

My character sheet now reflects that.

As a player I'm sure he's aware of my presence, but in character she failed her hunch check (Dc is like 20 so I was 12 points shy) so she has no reason to think she shouldn't keep following him. She hasn't really learned much about him.


Perhaps she has learned plenty and just doesn't know it. ;)

Zatsa never said it was a bad thing. I was merely pointing out that she would write a long and detailed report, assuming she didn;t follow him and he didn't bash her brains in in retaliation for the transgression.

To be fair it wasn't outside the realm of possibility. She has lost 100 percent of her fights thus far.


I think that Pride drawback is going to bring you alot of suffering. Just saying some flaws are more fatal then others in the adventuring business. xP

Joking aside, how detailed is your report. Do you tell all that you saw leaving nothing out or do you just summarize? Do you include you fight before finding the target?

Yeah its detailed, it covers everything as she remembers it. Lying to your superiors on your first assignment seems foolish.

As for Pride as a drawback, a lot of draw backs are really weak, while traits are amazing. I always try and take one that will actually have consequences on my character. Given that I thought bluff and diplomacy would come up a lot it seemed appropriate.

Bluff and diplomacy will play a part. Just saying your going to get your pride hurt alot. Humility is a corner stone of virtue for a reason. That apology clause is a real pain. Piratey types are not known for their manners. ;)

To be fair at level 1 I have like +10 to diplomacy if I can use my fashion trait. So a -2 sucks, but +8 on any skill check at level 1 is still pretty great if you ask me.
