Vessani |
Did anybody take any of the heavy blasters I got from the raid to rescue our employer? I still have all 4 in my inventory on my sheet, and couldn't remember.
Grabbing his blaster and slug thrower, and sliding a knife into his boot, Vessani got ready for, hopefully, a peaceful transaction. Thinking back on all of their adventures so far, he decided to grab an extra blaster and commence to glaring at everybody in his role of bodyguard. "Let's get this done and get gone, my soldier senses are tingling."
Daaneth Qilat |
Sorry for the absence all, this game fell off my Campaigns page for some reason.
Daaneth eyes the Barabel warily but, being asked for by name brings a smirk to his face. Crossing his arms the Togruta steps forward and nods his head.
"That would be me. What can I do for you?"
Daaneth Qilat |
The Harvesting ground?" Daaneth looks over his crew and wonders who best to take. He doesn't much like the idea of splitting up.
"I never travel without at least two of my men, you see, so this might present a problem. Unless of course you're flexible."
Persuasion: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25
Daaneth Qilat |
"So, no volunteers then?" Daaneth says looking at the rest of the crew. "Vessani why don't you come with me? The rest of you are capable of amusing yourselves while we're gone, save a few drinks for me though."
He tries his best to look amused, but his natural instinct is never to leave the pack, and he not sure how much he trusts this job. I'll just need to believe in Fialla I guess.
Jeren Vallin |
Oh, I thought Daaneth was going to choose. Does riding in the cargo bed entail something along the lines of skill checks? Jeren would like to tag along as well, though he would prefer to avoid going splat... :-P
Jarl Tehnos |
Jarl nods, "Aye aye Captain".
He brushes his hand along his comm as he heads back into the ship.
I want to keep the engines on some level of stand-by just in case we need to take the Dwarf up to aid our friends!
Jeren Vallin |
"I would not mind tagging along as well if you do not mind Captain," Jeren speaks up. "I am sure the cargo bed will be fine. As long as they do not speed up too much anyway."
Daaneth Qilat |
Daaneth smiles at his odd human friend. "More than welcome Jeren." He turns back to the Barabel and shrugs. "So, that's settled, let's go. You heard the man, just don't drive too recklessly."
He nods for those coming with him to follow, hoping he's not being too pushy and waves a goodbye to the rest of his crew mates.
GM Phntm888 |
Walking out to the speeder truck, you see that it is a medium-sized cargo speeder. The two Barabel hop into the front seats, leaving the back two seats for Daaneth and Vessani. Jeren climbs into the back before settling into position and holding on to the rails of the open-topped cargo bed. The one Barabel fires up the speeder and sets off from the docking bay. Those of you still there watch as the speeder moves towards a further edge of the spaceport towards a large domed building you can see in the distance.
What do the rest of you do while waiting for your captain?
Jarl Tehnos |
Jarl stays in the cockpit trying to keep the engines ready while simultaneously giving them a break from the hyperspace travel, if they need to aid their allies, the crew has to be able to take off quick. He will also keep the comm open, just in case...
GM Phntm888 |
The speeder quickly leaves the boundaries of the spaceport behind, moving along a road and heading towards a large, domed building. The Barabel are silent as they drive, although they seem quite relaxed, as though they are familiar with this route and unconcerned about anything else.
Jeren, give me two Acrobatics checks, DC 15, with a +5 bonus if you're holding onto a railing in the bed of the truck.
Daaneth, Vessani, if you want to ask any questions, you can. Otherwise, I'll speed things along to your destination.
NT-2B |
NT-2B follows Jarl, and attempts to make himself useful checking the various systems. Eventually, even he grows bored, and begins probing Jarl for some knowledge. "What is your opinion on our crew, Warrior Poet?"
Jarl Tehnos |
Jarl shrugs at Not2bee, "A strange collection. The sense I get is that this was the result of the fall of the Republic. Many peoples of many races who would have had a place to go back to are left set adrift. The Empire seems to hate half the universe cause they are not human so opportunities that would have been there just aren't.
Desperate times create desperate beings.
Look at me. I expected to serve in the Republic Army to keep the peace after the war but look how it ended. The two entities both struggling for so long to win it seemed to both lose. All that death and for what? The Empire is more restrictive then the Republic ever was. Those still surviving Separatists I bet wish they had the Jedi back now".
Jarl sighs, "What about you pal? I know that you do not have the same wiring as the living do but what do you think?"
NT-2B |
"An intriguing assessment." NT-2B pauses, hovering in the air and spinning his internal motors. "I suspect you are correct about desperation. Some of our new companions in particular seem interested in.. staying hidden."
"In traveling I have seen much more than I would have in a facility on Corellia. While my glossary functions suggest that our crew is made up of outlaws, vagabonds, criminals, I find myself seeing them as simply living beings. I have been unable to determine if this is a part of my programming, since unlike the Empire my purpose is to serve all life, or if it is something else, perhaps imparted from Wrapped Hands. While we are often in violation of the law, it is difficult to blame any of them for circumstances so far beyond their control."
The droid pauses again. "Wrapped Hands had a way of doing business. He would rarely enter into a conversation with someone if he had not already worked it through in his head multiple times. But he always left the other person enough... in his words, 'rope to hang themselves'. He never held anyone's position against them, but always expected them to follow their own code of honour."
"It is easy for me to see why the two of you were friends. It pleases me that we may have found others who are like-minded... Of course, while we have yet to see anyone's loyalties split, a circumstance could arise in which it were to happen. I am afraid that I do not have enough data on everyone to predict outcomes of such a situation."
Jarl Tehnos |
Jarl grins, "I like you too Not2bee. Droids are more than just machines, at least I always thought so. Some of the Clones I knew before everything went south used to tell me that General Skywalker's Droid had as much to do with his success as the Force did.
Too bad Skywalker disappeared, we could use a hero like him right now to lead the Jedi, those who are left anyway.
Yep, people can be unpredictable. Have you given any thought to independence? Not that I mind "owning" you mind you but I don;t want you to think that I think of you as property".
Jeren Vallin |
Holding onto the railing of the truck -no need to be reckless, after all- Jeren accompanies his two friends, keeping his eyes on the Barabels. He is not actually expecting them to try anything but years of being careful are not easy to let go, not entirely at least. Vessani's attempt at starting a conversation is welcome though, as one can only take so much silence before at the very least growing bored of it. Besides, it would not hurt if they do manage to find out more about the man they are to do business with before meeting him.

"Fiuryo'lan is a very efficient businesss-Twi'lek. Sshe recognized that the Andurian Truffles were about to become very popular, and wass able to begin the business of harvesting and exporting them before many had realized. Sshe now controls 57% of the trade here on Calabosss," one of the Barabel - you think it was Tela Barak - says, with the other nodding in agreement. There are definitely hints of respect in her voice as well.
NT-2B |
Jarl grins, "I like you too Not2bee. Droids are more than just machines, at least I always thought so. Some of the Clones I knew before everything went south used to tell me that General Skywalker's Droid had as much to do with his success as the Force did.
Too bad Skywalker disappeared, we could use a hero like him right now to lead the Jedi, those who are left anyway.
Yep, people can be unpredictable. Have you given any thought to independence? Not that I mind "owning" you mind you but I don;t want you to think that I think of you as property".
NT-2B nods. "I have not heard much of the General, not being in the war myself, but I am pleased to hear that there was one of my kind alongside him. Without the ability to be heroes ourselves, providing value for those who fight for justice is what we endeavour for. There are, of course, others who use us for illicit means, such as the Empire. But I suspect that's part of your query, isn't it?"
Without pausing for an answer, the droid continues. "It is a question that I pose to myself often. It is not to suggest that I am not content being 'owned' by you. I have a great appreciation for you and Wrapped Hands before you, who let me see the galaxy, and assist people, and do not debase me. I recognise that, given the circumstances, such independence would be largely symbolic, since you treat me as an equal already... But it also occurs to me that that might be the point?"
"In such an uncertain time, when there are others who are oppressed and have their rights taken away, I suspect there is something to be said for pursuing my own. Because if even a Droid has freedom, how can you deny it to anyone else?"
NT-2B looks towards a console, and begins to tap keys as he speaks. "It is academic, I suppose. We have yet to meet anyone who would be capable of removing my behaviour modification chip." He pauses, to look up at Jarl, "But yes, I think about it."
Daaneth Qilat |
57% of the trade, sure but what's that actually worth? Daaneth thinks as he listens to Vessani carry the conversation. He figures he'll let the Zabrak work on casually retrieving information while he enjoys the ride. Occasionally he looks back at Jeren and raises an eyebrow, making sure the human isn't having any trouble.
Daaneth Qilat |
I hadn't responded since I wasn't the one engaging with the barabel but
"We mentioned her name when we arrived on planet. It got us pretty speedy accomodations. Is that normal around here?" The togruta tilts his head curiously, waiting for a response.
Vessani |
Sorry, was waiting to see if Daaneth wanted to say anything. Seems we were all waiting on someone to do something lol
Nodding along with the captain, Vessani added, "It's not often that someone's name gets a reaction like that."
GM Phntm888 |
The remainder of the speeder journey passes in silence, as Vessani and Daaneth find themselves somewhat confused by the Barabel point of view. They truly have unusual minds.
Eventually, you arrive outside the large domed structure, at which there are two doors. One, a large door big enough for a speeder, the other a smaller door. The Barabel stop the speeder outside the smaller door and say, "You may enter here. Fiury'olan will meet you. We must go and park the speeder in the loading zone."
Daaneth Qilat |
"Well, let's figure out if Fiury'olan deserves her non Barabel reputation, yeah?" The togruta smirks as he enters the building, but at least one hand hovers near his blaster.
GM Phntm888 |
After the three of you get out of the speeder, the Barabel drive over to the larger door, which begins opening to admit the speeder. The smaller door opens, and you enter what appears to be a decently sized...airlock?
The door closes behind you with a click, and you suddenly hear a hissing sound. A female voice comes over an intercom, "Alright, who are you, and what do you want? The room is currently filling with colorless, odorless trioxidolation gas, and it'll kill you right quick unless you start talking."
There are vents venting air out of the room as well as venting air into the room.
You hear very faint, stifled giggling over the intercom.
There's no such thing as trioxidolation gas.
There are airlocks designed to go from one type of planetary atmosphere to another - not necessarily a toxic one, but to get rid of certain smells or atoms present in one atmosphere that aren't present in another and could be lethal to an unaware species.
