NT-2B
NT-2B stares at the protocol droid for a moment, before speaking. "I will take a moment to confer with my associates. Please excuse us."
Floating back into the hall away from the Protocol droid, NT-2B speaks more quietly to Jace and Jeren. "I am afraid that I am out of ideas. What would you like to do?"
Daaneth Qilat
Daaneth raises and eyebrow to Jarl. "Changed your tune, eh? One of us should fly it, not sure if both of us should though. Hey, Vessani, ask Fialla is you guys need a pilot, I can fly her ship, if not Jarl and I are taking this bad boy out of here the hard way!"
He smiles at Jarl. "Try to hit a few walls when you take this out of the hanger. Make some last damage so everyone knows what happens when they take one of our friends."
While waiting for Fialla's response he messages the second group to see how much longer they'll be.
GM Phntm888
Fialla snorts at Daaneth's message and says, "Daaneth, I'm Corellian. We learn to fly before we can walk."
There is an ignition code on the yacht's computer, preventing you from just taking off with it. You'll have to either figure it out or try to slice it.
The protocol droid responds to NT-2B, "Very well. We have several holo-magazines if you wish something to read while you wait."
Daaneth Qilat
"I'll give it a shot, it's been awhile since I've needed to steal a ship." Daaneth grumbles as he begins looking around the ship and it's parts for a bypass.
"Nothing is easy anymore."
Mechanics: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23 To see if I can bypass the ignition code/hotwire the yacht
Jarl Tehnos
Jarl sighs, "Alright, let's take some of these parts fro under the console with us then and close it up, subtle sabotage may be more effective than blasting the panels".
Daaneth Qilat
Daaneth nods at Jarl, but gives it one more shot.
Mechanics: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27
If it doesn't work he shrugs and rips out a few extra wires for good measure and moves to leave.
"I really wanted to destroy his yacht." He mutters under his breathe.
GM Phntm888
You aren't quite sure which room the artifacts you're looking for. Think like a crime lord. How many exits would you have in your hideout?
With a hum, the engines of the yacht come to life. The consoles light up as the ship begins going through the power up process. Daaneth has successfully hot wired the yacht!
Jace Concorkill
The vurk will inquire of the servitor droid And how many people is the Lord of the Manor dealing with in his throne room right now? That might help us to think about how much time we might need to wait. Are there any droids involved? Sometimes that might be a good think!
Jarl Tehnos
jarl grins and takes the pilot's seat. "We should probably wait Jace and Jeren no? BUt we should probably wait in the air not here in the hangar, we just stole it, no sense in giving them a chance to steal it back".
Jarl clicks on his comm to contact Vessani, "You two ready to go? The Captain got this bird ready to fly!"
GM Phntm888
"He is meeting with his lieutenant, Krazaa, as well as a guest, Gendro Moln, regarding the disappearance of some of our guards earlier. A terrible thing. What sort of violent, sociopathic criminals would attack security guards coming back from an evening in the cantina? It's simply barbaric."
So, I feel like I need to point out that Likar had 12 guards on payroll, and you have taken out all 12. The only people left who could try to take the ship back are Krazaa, Gendro Moln, and Likar himself. There are no more guards left.
Daaneth Qilat
"We've got it running, let's see where everyone else is." Daaneth says to Jarl.
Turning on his comms he tries, for the second time to contact Jace, NT-2B or Jeren.
"How are you guys doing? Need any help?"
Jeren Vallin
"We have hit a wall, so to speak," Jeren speaks softly through his comm to Daaneth as he follows Jace and NT-2B out of the room. "Molch is having a meeting with his lieutenant, Krazaa, and a guest, Gendro Moln, about... ahem... some of his guards disappearing earlier. So we are not able to meet him at this moment, not without resorting to violence it seems."
Jarl Tehnos
Jarl chimes in, "Get back here, then we can see what kind of firepower these ships and our ship, can unleash against this building. No need to risk our skin when we have the advantage..."
Daaneth Qilat
At Jace's answer Daaneth looks at Jarl and shrugs before responding.
"Why can't we destroy them with the rest of the building? You said they were sith artifacts, I don't exactly want those on my ship." The togruta stops a moment to consider. "Unless they're worth something? Can we sell them?"
GM Phntm888
While the Hutts take a generally lax view to crimes committed on the Smuggler's Moon, they would likely seek retribution on someone who attacked a building with a starship - especially since Likar Molch is not in a standalone structure.
Turning to Vessani, Fialla says, "Did he just suggest attacking the building?"
Daaneth Qilat
Galactic Lore: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25
Daaneth realizes that his impromptu plan won't work, not unless he wants to be hunted by the Hutts themselves.
"So, what, they're just going to sit on the dwarf and mark us as targets for whoever wants them? What's the endgame Jace? Assuming I believe you're actually a Jedi and not some charlatan, you still don't have anyone to turn these things in to."
Jace Concorkill
These items should not be in the hands where they can be used for evil and the uninitiated might use themy to bring even more evil to the galaxy. However your belief in my abilities is neither here nor there Qilat, and impacts me in no way. Other members of the crew know what they have seen he states.
GM Phntm888
Going back to your "search your feelings" roll earlier: If you were a crime lord, would you only have one way out of your private quarters?
Quickly activating her com, Fialla says, "Hey, I don't care about any artifacts, but do not blow up this building. The Hutts will be on us faster than they drool."
Jarl Tehnos
Jarl replies, "Oh alright". He clearly sounds disappointed...
Jarl looks at Daaneth, "We have gotten her to safety and she can fly back to the rendezvous point. How about we have Vessani join us, reprogram the codes for this ship and then meet Jace, Jeren and Not2Bee? If we split up now we weaken the team."
Daaneth Qilat
"Yeah yeah, I know, I'm just trying to get them out of the building! Vessani, meet Jarl and I back in the hanger." Daaneth responds to Fialla before looking at Jarl.
"We can have Not2Bee come back here and work on the codes while we deal with this, he's not going to offer much in a fight anyway."
When Vessani meets up with them he starts moving to Jace's location.
"These artifacts, what do you guys think we should do about them? I'm worried they're just going to be a bigger headache than they're worth."
Jace Concorkill
The vurk will tell his two companitions There should be another way to access the artifacts since a crime lord would not be as foolish as to have less than one escape route or places to hide things, even from the Hutts.
Jeren Vallin
"So we are looking for a path that probably connects his private quarters to both the place he keeps his most valuable possessions as well as the outside," Jeren suggests. "An escape route with a quick stop along the way. After all, a greedy crime lord will not be leaving his belongings behind if he can help it."
He sighs. "And I am guessing it would be too much to ask for such a route to appear on the schematics of this place, yes?"
Jace Concorkill
Perhaps the Force will lead us to the artifacts says the vurk. I trust in the Force for it is my ally and has brought me here for a purpose yet to be discerned.
NT-2B
I don't thiiiiink I saw anything on the schematics, and I'll include reasoning for why, but GM obviously please do correct me if I am wrong.
NT-2B remains mum about the force, his face displaying the same blank expression he always has. "I cannot speak to that," he begins. "But I did not notice a secondary route on the schematics." Pausing for a moment, he adds. "It is understandable. It would be foolish to put knowledge of such an escape route somewhere that even a medical droid (even one as sophisticated as I am) would be able to uncover it. Hardly secretive."
"It is also worth noting that if he is in the room, a back door will not assist us very much. I have done the calculations and I believe that we would still be in the same scenario as if we walked in the front door. In both cases we gain an element of surprise, albeit shortlived, which is likely to lead to violence."
"I suspect that entering via the secret door would lead to violence more rapidly, however. In entering the front room, he does not immediately know who we are, though he may suspect. The assumption becomes much more concrete if we come in via an entrance intended to be secret."
"To achieve this without violence, I believe the best course of action would be an event intended to lure him away from the room."
GM Phntm888
Your memory of the schematics remembers that there is a suite of rooms behind the throne room, and the artifacts, given their highly illegal and supposedly dangerous nature, would likely be on display in their own room, where only Likar and a select few could see them.
Your processor is advanced enough to know that a secret escape route exit would lead to the quickest means of egress, as well as kept off of the building schematics. It would also likely be in a less public area, as to avoid accidental discovery.
Sorry. I should have given you more info sooner. When I try to be oblique with things, I either give too much away or don't give enough information. Rarely do I find the sweet spot.
NT-2B
NT-2B's processor clicks and whirrs for a second. "Please hold."
"I am afraid that I spoke too soon. While I can indeed confirm that the secret entrance is not on the schematics, I now believe that the artifacts are likely to not be in the throne room itself, but rather in one of their own rooms behind said throne room, of which there are a small number."
"While I cannot say for certain where such a secret entrance might be, beyond 'somewhere it would not be discovered', I do believe it would be our best entrance, giving us the ability to reach said artifacts without our presence even being noticed."
"Given that this approach has the highest chance of no life being lost (the most desirable outcome) it is objectively the best course of action. Though it is also worth noting that it is also the most time consuming, and my estimations do not take into account scenarios such as us being discovered by guards while searching for said secret entrance."
Vessani
|
"Listen, let's just blow this joint. We rescued the damsel in distress, and we even got a new ship to either keep or sell," Vessani said over the comms as another infiltration was being discussed. "I mean, I liked the Jedi as much as the next non-clone soldier, but the fact remains that the order doesn't exist any more, and having those things on the ship will just paint one gigantic bull's-eye on our back for every two-bit crook in the galaxy. As it is, we're gonna be lucky to get out of this without our faces plastered in every bounty office from here to Coruscant."
Jeren Vallin
"We have the schematics and we know that the... treasure rooms are behind the throne room," Jeren offers. "So it stands to reason that the secret path ouside would be either from those treasure rooms or the throne room to the outside, somewhere that has the least possibility of people passing by, a back alley or a dead end or something to that effect, yes?"
He then turns to NT-2B. "So, could you possibly extrapolate at the very least a limited number of such possible routes given the schematics themselves and the parameters we have for a secret way out that would enable Molch to both leave as quickly as possible and with as much of his stash as possible?"
And then, feeling truly at an impasse, he turns to one more ally. The Force.
I am stumped. Maybe a Use Computer check or something?
And here is Jeren reaching out to the Force itself and using a Force point to boot for some much needed insight and clarity.
Use the Force: 1d20 + 7 + 1d6 ⇒ (12) + 7 + (3) = 22
GM Phntm888
Processing the parameters, there are 2 possible egress points: the hangar or the front door.
The artifacts are within possible reach. You have the resources. What to do afterwards, however, leaves you in a very difficult position. You must take care not to bite off more than you can chew.
You rolled about the same, so I gave you the same spoiler.
