Edlethron |
"Thank you for the advice. Maybe I'll see you around later. It was pleasure to meet you, Clucky Borscht-slinger." Edlethron replies.
GM Infinity |
Passing through the small portal you find a modest living space designed for comfort, but also ravished by time. Large tables sport cracked glass apparatus filled with some kind of solidified liquid near a small writing desk. Potted plants long dead and decayed hang pointlessly near the kitchen, a number of small knifes spilling out a drawer near a large chunk of god-i-hope-thats-not cheese. It is absolutely quiet and still.

Edlethron |
Edlethron will lead the way down the stairs (?) in the room watching his head for flying objects. He surveys the room using his peripheral vision and slow head and eye movements. His hands are free not knowing what to expect.
Edlethron |
"Look at that spoon over there. Perfectly balanced. Moving back and forth. That doesn't look natural." Ed observes.
GM Infinity |
The spoon slowly rises into the air, floating across the living room and stops inches from Khaz' face. It prods at his mouth annoyingly, as if to feed a baby porridge...
Froog, you had always heard that ghosts ride the borders between the Material and Ethereal Planes...able to pass through walls as if they were not there.
GM Infinity |
Froog's laughter covers a mystical, slow rising crescendo in the abode, as if a gigantic bird was swooping down closer and closer in the rushing wind.
Froog is struck full force with some kind of psychokinetic thrust from another realm...
Attack Froog: 1d20 ⇒ 16
Froog, this is an opposed roll. Roll a pure strength check.
GM Infinity |
Froog is suddenly airborne, knocked hard across the room some 30 ft before slamming into the wall...
Dmg: 1d6 ⇒ 3
Froog: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
Edlethron: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Khaz: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
Vic: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
Cade: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
Gael: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22

Invisible attacker. Need perception to pinpoint, even if successful will have disadvantage.
Victor "Vic" Lofliss |
Round 1, Fancy Footwork, Rakish Audacity, Sneak Att
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
Vic spots, the ghost, moves in, and attacks with his rapier before dancing away 30'.

Rapier Dam: 1d8 + 5 + 2d6 ⇒ (5) + 5 + (2, 4) = 16
Edlethron |
Edlethron starts laughing with Froog eliminating all of his mental preparation for the ghost.
The wood elf stops laughing and is shocked frozen when his captain is punted airborne.
Froog Nackle |
Picking himself up, Froog sees where Vic goes with weapons raised and hopes he understands the intent. He calls upon Lathander once again to illuminate the unseen. "Show yourself spirit! We don't need to fight but you need to give these people peace!"
Half movement to stand. Action to cast fairy fire to cover where Vic moved towards. I figure that much talking was pushing it for one round.
Victor "Vic" Lofliss |
Ok, I see it. I will move closer, but no need to move right next to it. Movement is no issue in combag for me. Can you just take my rolls to attack for my next turn...they rocked!
Froog Nackle |
Fairy fire covers a 20 ft cube so if Vic points in a general direction once he moves about halfway across the room I should be able to get most of that area. Also, it's now a DC 13 dex save!
Rubbing his chest, "Not by choice...
GM Infinity |
Vic, that's fine
Dex vs Froog: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
The snarling, hateful face of a deep gnome comes into sight as Lathandar's light fills the room. He has that stomach twisting type of skin where every vein is bulging and amplified, how such a trait carried over to undeath is a mystery of the gods. His specter wears the fancy dress of someone affluent in life, but its somehow warped as too-long threads loop around back into the infinity of the dead.
Froog was technically ahead of Kriv in the init, so Kriv could attack. So could Ed after the enemy turn.
Gael Lloris |
Glad the spoon did not want to feed him, the half-elf's face lit up as the ghost is discerned.
"Good job, captain."
He then blasted it with his dark energy.

Cade Whistler |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
"Fookin' spoon," Edlethron says in his best Khaz imitation.
Cade jibs, "I think the tinker gnomes call that a spork."
When the ghost is light up Cade begins to cast a spell waves of heat coming from his hands. He moves behind those before him and steps to where he has a clear line and unleashes three burning lines of fire toward the ghost.

Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
Edlethron finally exhales and says, "that's something you don't see everyday."
"Hey, is that a concealed hole under the leg of one of that glassware table?"
Cade Whistler |
Cade looks at his hands a bit surprised.
He hears Ed's question and goes over to the glasswear table
Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 9
He looks back confused. "Where?"
Froog Nackle |
Perception: 1d20 + 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (7) + (1) + 3 = 11
"I don't see anything but you have much better eyes than I do. I'll take your word for it. I wonder what's in there... give me a second and I'll check it out. Froog says another prayer and checks the inside of the table leg.
cast resistance this time.
GM Infinity |
Froog, Ed points out the hole and with a little effort and nearly crashing the entire table down you get it open. Perfect size for a gnome's arm to reach into. Bravely you probe the hole and feel something cold and hard inside. It turns out to be a huge ruby! But you go back and pull out another just as big! And another! All said and done, you produce 7 well cut rubies (Probably worth around 250 gp each. No, not a typo.).
Also leatherworking tools in the house still in good condition if anyone is interested.
GM Infinity |
"Oh no, no one living would...this hovel has been abandoned for centuries, like the others. We have just resettled here, you see...chased out by the drow years past, so we were told." she pauses "Our numbers are growing...and thats a good thing! But it means we have to meet our stubborn past..." she prods at the ectoplasm "...I think this place is still good, you know? Just a little slimey, its ok! I'll let the family know they can move in for real this time. You said you were with the temple?"
Cade Whistler |
Cade smiles, he looks at his companions. "It feels good. I mean up till we got here we have been running for our lives. Nice to help."
Froog Nackle |
"I remember something about a mad badger but I don't think it was a ghost. Anyway, thank you miss Borscht-slinger for your warning about the ghost. I apparently wasn't careful as I became one of those flying objects!
