Garnult hefts his warhammer and raises his shield Okay beasties! Time to scram! Garnult moves in front of the elves to block them from the kobolds

You do have enough movement to engage the first kobold directly if you want, but since you seemed to want to take a more reactionary stance with them, I've moved you closer though not in melee keeping your ready action.

Perfect, thanks GM. I might have to bow out if the Roll20 thing becomes a problem because it seems I indeed cannot access it from work. I spoke with my IT guy friend and he says its the big company filter blocking it not anything he can give me special permissions for.
Garnult rushes forward to attack the remaining Kobold with his warhammer
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8 but his grip is spoiled by some of that vile gunk Torag's Beard! This stuff was everywhere!

Garnult since 5e is a little more forgiving in combat than, say, Pathfinder I have no problem trying to move you around the map in good faith based on your descriptions. I am certainly willing to try and work with you to try and do something. For big exploration maps like this, I really like the fog/reveal features in Roll20.
Also - good grief you two! Maxing out both your damages on the poor, poor little kobold corpse :)
Cererithil and Akmenos are able to handily deal with the second kobold as Garnult moves into position for a powerful swing that goes wide. Uilisfuen moves back into the 'Y' intersection scanning for additional threats, but finding none.
Out of Combat! 10 XP each!
1d100 ⇒ 89
1d100 ⇒ 71
3d6 + 3d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 6) + (4, 4, 3) = 24
The kobolds had a pair of daggers, two slings, 17 sling stones, and 24 gp between them.
In the time you have been gone up to the surface and returned, you do notice the same signs of the liquid drying around the rats that were left by Uilisfuen, and set to work caking dirt onto the door and ground making it more possible to walk on spots without getting your feet stuck.
Anything else, or just wait a bit for the drying?

Garnult Tarnhammer

Cererithil also is of the same mind. He'd like the door to dry before trying to put his hand, covered by his tunic sleeve, to it.

Though slightly awkward, Cereithil is able to turn the door knob with the giant rat corpse on it. With the door open he is able to see inside...there is a treasure chest on the northern wall across from the door, and a skeletal hand lying on the floor just inside the door, cut off at the wrist.

Cererithil

Well that can't be good. Maybe he was the owner of the original gauntlet?
The elf does a careful inspection of the surrounds and of the chest itself.

            Beware the sacrilege!
The following is assuming the room is cleared by Cererithil first.
Akmenos enters the room and begins searching for what could require such a strange device to protect. He casts detect magic and sees if there are any auras that might in the room, and investigates the chest to see if it is trapped. If he cannot detect traps he will attempt to open it (with tools if it is locked).

Sorry guys in my haste I forgot to include...
The walls and floor of the room inside are also covered with the same sticky liquid as the door and floor outside.
From the doorway Cererithil detects no traps, and after a short ritual Akmenos detects no magic.

"Maybe we could build a bridge? Throw some rocks or boards down, I mean, and walk on those to avoid the goo." Lysander shrugs and looks to the others, content to stay on guard while they do the heavy thinking and make sure the room is clear.

The kobolds have nothing but their scaly bodies. The sheets of paper won't make a good material, though with the left over dirt and the two kobold corpses you feel like you can totally make something workable to reach the chest!
Akmenos sets to work and is able to fashion a way to reach the chest. Confident the trap itself is not trapped, the tiefling sets to work picking the lock, which turns out to be a fairly easy task. When he opens the chest, he is not disappointed as there is a heavy sack full of gold coins! The tiefling carries the bag back to his friends, and when they count it out, there are 500 gold coins! Quite a find-well done!
You all also gain 40 XP for overcoming the glue trap! Where next?

Heading back to where the rats came from, Cererithil takes the lead again with the rest of the party tailing only slighly behind. As he enters the next room, Cererithil notices something along the western wall. It looks like an arrowhead floating about 2 feet off the ground, then when he looks closer, the wild elf realizes that it is not floating, it is suspected in a nearly transparent cube of ooze!

Cererithil

He snaps off an arrow at it before moving.

Perhaps if you dwarves payed more attention to natural sciences beyond geology you would recognize glue, Akmenos snaps back, but thank you.
I don't see Cererithil on the map.

Also worth mentioning, which I forgot...Cererithil's arrow does pierce into the translucent cube, and it loses momentum quickly and hangs there suspended.
Garnult calls down Torag's might as the cube is outlined in the magical radiance of the dwarf's attack! I also moved you 25' back from the creature as it seems like the consensus is to back up from the thing.

Mechanically, Akmenos we need to do a little to make the spirt of this work. I am trying to follow the spirt of the rules here and not screw you guys over. From your current location you are too far for the range of the spell (30', you are standing at 40'), and the corner would actually block your line of sight giving it total cover from you anyway. So you will have to move forward somewhat in order to do this. You believe that this kind of ooze is very slow moving, so you don't feel too bad about getting a little closer. IE: I am telling you its move speed is 15'
Uilisfuen would have also had to move to get a clear shot, but he could have easily moved and then moved back into his original position after firing his arrow.
Akmenos moves into the chamber and unleashes an arc of lightning into the thing!
The cube then shimmies and sort of slides along the wall, following it toward the norther doorway, but its movement is quite slow.
